E71 how to search contact by phone number

Hi All,
any idea for E71 how to search contact by phone number? sometimes it will be useful if i can just type in the phone number and it show me the contact name

There is no way to do that directly from Home Screen, however you can always get in the "Search: Internet and My Content" application, choose contacts and start to type phone number. You will get what you want.

When I search my contacts list by phone number (and when I use the general search feature), I get zero results returned even when I enter a number that I know is in my contacts list. For example, say my dad's phone number is 202-555-1212. If I enter the full number, or any part of the number, his contact information doesn't show up. Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

Phone numbers are not searchable on the iPhone.

I was simply going to write that you were incorrect and there are no plus signs either, but I was certian you knew what was supposed to happen, and that I wasn't going soft either. So after staring at it for a while it just came to me: the file was full! I deleted just one favorite and both the plus and the Add to Favorites button appeared where you described.

Unfortunately, at the present time the only way to delete these autocomplete suggestions is to restore your phone as new, without using your backup, and start over.

Here's How: Tap the phone icon from the iPhone's the home screen. Tap the Favorites icon at the bottom left. Click the "plus" icon at the top right to add favorites. This will bring up the contact's information, including all their phone numbers. Tap the phone number you want to make a favorite. That name and phone number are now listed in your "Favorites" menu. Next to the person's name is a small note indicating whether the number is work, home, mobile, etc. To rearrange the order of your Favorites, go to the phone app and tap the "Edit" button in the top left. You choose whether to see text messages in Notification Center or not. If you elect to see them, they will display the phone number (unless they are from a contact in your contacts list).
You can choose not to see them at Settings > Notification Center > Messages.

Yes, great! I will check into my modem... but I remember years ago have a c program that I used to send error messages through the modem to my alpha-numeric pager. With that I started with that c program being called from REXX IBM language and it spoke modem language...
Is there another forum that would handle this type of request? what do you call telephone support? telephony? communication links? ....

It sounds like your device may be using your husband's Apple ID. You can check this from the following menu options:
On iOS devices, find out which addresses are enabled with FaceTime and iMessage by tapping:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."
In FaceTime, choose FaceTime > Preferences. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for calls at:."
Use these steps to unlink your phone number from his Apple ID:
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.

Your carrier does that, so contact them. If you upgraded your contract, you'll keep the same number & the phone will come pre-activated using that number. Only unlocked phones will come without a number per-assigned.

Troubleshooting telephone-number activation (iPhone only)
After each step, toggle FaceTime and iMessage off and then on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Verify that you can send SMS messages. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions or blocks on text messages. Blocks on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration.
If you are unable to activate iMessage or FaceTime on a device after remote wiping it, wait at least 24 hours and try again.
If "Waiting for Activation" is displayed, leave FaceTime and iMessage enabled for 24 hours. Toggling FaceTime or iMessage off and on will cause the registration process to start over.

How do I find the phone number to cancel this thing? I was told I could also cancel by going to the subscription manager but I can't find that either.

I would very much appreciate it as I've found no other way to do it as the website links just take us in circles and we can't find any other info as to contacts. Since the program does not work with our very old word version as far as I can tell, and we can't afford to update that, it really doesn't help us. We are a small animal rescue with limited resources so also can't afford to waste money on something that does not do us any good, so we were hoping to cancel fast enough to get our payment refunded as it states in the terms of agreement, within 30 days. If you could fix this we would be very grateful.
