E71 Mail For Exchange - Unable to open Attachments

I can sync the e-mail from the server but there is a error when trying to download the attachment. It show "Cannot connect to the server". But I have no problem to open it on my iPhone.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Jason

can't help. I have the same problem. I think its a bug somewhere and a problem with the provider. I contacted Nokia support and they were not able to replicate the problem and could retreive attachment without server errors.. but I can't, its the providers fault I guess

  • E71 Mail for Exchange System Error, try again late...

    Hi,
    Please Help!
I installed MfE 2.7 on my E71, but whenever I try to sync my email and calender, I get a system error.
It begins to sync the email but after that it doesn't sync the calender and I get the system error. Also each time it tries to sync emails, it retrieves all the mail each time.
If I sync only the calender, it retrieves all the items and I get a system error. I've pasted the admin log below.
    27/10/2008 10:17:42 start Email sync
    27/10/2008 10:17:53 sync died (11), collection=Email activity=handling commands from server
    27/10/2008 10:22:36 PING Command Requested
    27/10/2008 10:22:42 start Email sync
    27/10/2008 10:23:01 sync died (47), collection=Email activity=handling commands from server
Does anyone know how to solve this?

OK - like many on the copius web discussions on this Nokia E71 model/MfE topic I have been getting terminally frustrated with an otherwise great phone.
A trawl through the websites gave me lots of things to try, but most didn't work.
Our large corporate IT dept also were left scratching their heads, and resorted to a full reset, which cured the problem briefly, but as with others' experience it soon returned (also having to fully reconfig is a pain in the proverbial). Things suggested on the discussion sites like disabling Tasks synch, or Secure Connection didn't have any effect.
The fact that most others with the same phone on our system hadn't experienced the problem seemed to hint at it not being a server issue, but something more localised. The apparent fact that 'Emails' did synch OK, but that the process hung on 'Calendar' synch suggested it was a Calendar issue
One post mentioned issues with no-finish-date recurring appointments in Calendar, so I investigated these. I found that one or two had no end date, so I gave these items one.
But interestingly, I also found a high proportion of appointments that had been created last year (09) had end dates like 'Wed 31/03/00' when clearly 'Wed 31/03/10' was intended - was this an odd default in Calendar, or just careless typing? The consequences were that Calendar was possibly wrestling with numerous recurring appts with either 100-year durations, or possibly just hanging on the date confusion - is '00' before or after '10'?.
Therefore, as a precaution, I checked all my recurring appts like this (the procedure may vary according to your browser):-
    - In Calendar, open each recurring appt in turn;
    - Open the series, not just the individual appointment;
    - Check 'Recurrence';
    - Check that an 'End By' date is there, and that it is not '00';
    - Click OK;
    - Click OK again if warned about exceptions;
    - Cick 'Save & Close'.
Do this to absolutely all recurring appointments in your Calendar.
Then do a full resynch (Menu/MfE/Synch Mode/Full Resynch etc).
I didn't hold much hope of any effect, but Lo!, it did work, and now Emails, Contacts, Tasks, and Calendar all synch fine so far, using Menu/MfE/Mail for Exchange/Options/Synchronise.
I hope this works for others...let me know if it does.

  • E65 Mail for exchange - Delay in opening email

Hi, I have been using the Mail for Exchange V2.02 on my Nokia E65 to connect with my Exchange Mail server for downloading my emails. I do a manual synch for downloading emails.
Whenever I try to open a new email that has downloaded, the phone shows me a message saying "Opening" and it takes atleast 2 minutes to open the message and show me the details. This delay happens only for the first email that is viewed, all subsequent emails open instantly.
Can someone help why it is taking so much time to open an email?
    Rgds,
    Kunal

I also rang Nokia phone support for this issue, and they were remarkably unhelpful.
All they said was there is a security issue on the certificate.
When asked how to change the security on the certificate?
Response was something along the lines of they can't tell me because their support services do not cover changing security of certificates.
When I asked where I could find that information?
They couldn't tell me because their support doesn't cover chaging certificate security.
Surely someone in Nokia knows how to do it! Why supply the program that allows security but doesn't work with it?!?
The other option was to purchase 3rd party certificates, but then you have replace your current certificate everywhere it is used with this 3rd party one. Why pay for something that is built into Exchange?
    Very frustrating.
Like you, Exchange on our work mobiles is a far cheaper option that Blackberry, so if we can get it to work, a lot more of us will be moving to Mail for Exchange.
We were actually looking at the e65 for all our business phones but after testing one, there is no point because the major drawing point doesn't work properly.

  • E71 mail for exchange Error

I am setting up a Nokia E71 phone for exchange mail via the mail for exchange application on the Nokia all settings appear to be fine however when i try to sync email in the log i see an error "Server requires secure connection change profile >connection > secure connection yes"
The connection is already specified to be secure.

I'm also struggling to setup Exchange on my E71.
I'm currently looking to do software updates (I'm using software 211) and hoping the problems go away in the new cell software.
I put in all the settings, and it just fails to connect, yet, when we check our logs (Linux) we can see the phone making connection.
    Thoughts?

  • E71 Mail for Exchange problem

I've set up a few of these adn had no problems but yesterday I set up 3 off E71-b exactly the same as always and all now have the same problem:  when powering on you get the message "allow to send and receive......" answering "yes" then gives "testing network" and then then the Email setup wizard starts again. If you then cancel the Wizard the phone synchs properly with Head Office's Exchange Server.   It means the users have to exit teh wizard at evry start-up.    Any help would be much appreciated.

Guys -- I had the same problem but I think I figured it out. Menu>MfE>Mail for Exchange>Content synced> Synchronize Calendar (choose yes, ditto Contacts and Tasks)>then follow the stupid menu logic that doesn’t actually save any changes unless you save each individual change or something and finally choose “in case of conflict server always wins”> and double check to make sure it is always looking for changes. I tested it with new calendar and contact entries on my corp. mail account and they showed up almost immediately on the e71.
     Cripes. Good luck.

  • E71 - Mail for exchange syncs calendar only partly

I'm pretty new to using the Mail for Exchange (latest version from Ovi) application in my E71, had a 3rd party software that handled pim sync before.
Any how, the company has moved from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange 2010 and in that process migrated data from Notes to Exchange. For some reason the Mail for Exchange application syncs only entrys changed or created in Exchange, older entrys migrated from Notes unchanged wont show up in the handset.
I have verified with handsets from other vendors that this is not an server/active sync error, fore example Apples iPhone will sync every entry. How come, anyone has any ideas?

Go to OVI store on your E71 and download Mail for Exchange.
‡Thank you for hitting the Blue/Green Star button‡

  • E71, mail for exchange, emails not being deleted

Hello, I have an E71 on which I have configured mfE to sync with my company's exchange server. I've set emails to sync the last 3 days and calendar entries last 2 weeks. However, emails and calendar entries which are older than 3 days/2 weeks are not deleted from the phone. It keeps everything until finally it stops syncing and gives me a "system error, please try later". I'm thinking it is because the device becomes full or something like that. Doing a full resync resolves the problem, although it would be nice to have it working properly.

    Hi az1987,
How often do u face this error on ur device screen?
what is the frimware on the device*#0000#)
what is the version of mail for exchange ? (this u can get from ABOUT of mfe)
You said 'it stops syncing' when does this happen?
please revert me back on the above queries so i can work out on this?
by the way do u face this problem when u try retrieving all maisl instead of only 3days older?
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

  • E71 - Mail For Exchange Error - "Unable to connect...

I have one user that is getting "unable to connect. Retrying" when trying to sync email using MfE.
We have several other people using a combination of E71's and iPhones and they are all working fine.
I have added the users details to my iPhone and it syncs fine. I have tried the same user on another E71 and still get the errors.
If I just sync the contacts, they sync ok. Seem just to be that mail there is a problem with. I have changed the mail sync to 1 day and still no joy.
    Anyone give me some pointers?
    Thanks

  • Nokia E71 Mail for exchange "Connection Error. Try...

    Hi
I have used /Nokia E71 with latest MfE, i got my details from my Employers Microsoft outlook 2007 like exchnage server, domain and user name.
I just want to synchronise E-mails, whenever i try to synchronise i get "Connection Error. try Later".
Please help me , i am just stuck on that,

Try following the below steps and let me know if we still have the problem.
Choose Yes to create a profile.
    Enter these items
E-mail address - e-mail address of your exchange server
Domain - Domain name of your exchange server - Your Exchange Administrator can provide this information
    Username  - Domain username
    Password - email password
Access point  - choose the connection you are using.  Most likely this is your data plan cellular connection
The Exchange Server will be discovered and populated for you automatically in most cases.  If the Exchange server is not discovered, select the Exchange Server field and enter your server information given to you by your email administrator.
Verify the Secure connection is set to Yes.   Change to No only if your Exchange Administrator dictates the change.  The wrong value will make the connection fail.
    Press Options
    Select Save
From here you can verify if all is setup correctly by watching the Current status.
    Press Options
    Select Exit
    Thanks

  • E71, Mail for Exchange and IP addresses

I have been struggling to get M4E working with my new E71 for several weeks.
While it worked immediately upon first configuration on my local Wifi access point, I couldn't get it to work away from my home office.
I'm posting this for information as it may help others in the same situation.
The set-up is a very small business with a Windows SBS 2003 server on a fixed IP address to the ISP. Using the name of the local Exchange server enabled the local arrangement. Having no FQDN, I tried, in vain, to access the server using the fixed IP address. While this works for browsing and OWA, it doesn't work for M4E.
The solution for me was to obtain a free DNS alias from DynDNS.Com - but there are other similar providers.
M4E's Exchange Server should then be specified as www.xxxx.dnsalias.com; where xxxx is your choice at DynDNS and dnsalias.com is the domain chosen (there are other domain options).
In order to enable a Secure Connection on M4E, I configured the SBS firewall to issue a certificate from www.xxxx.dnsalias.com and then 'always permitted' it on the E71 when asked. This puts it into the Trusted Certificate list.
I intend next to go on to try to set up a VPN access point - something I have yet to master!

    Hi hascott
You might get your domain name providor to setup an A record for your ipaddress. such as remote.abc.com points to
89.4.43.13, then set your phone to use the a record.
thats how i did it. you can setup a domain name for a few euro. post any questions you have and ill try my best to help ya.
    Cheers

  • E71 Mail for Exchange Israel daylight savings bug

I'm encountering the problem on 2 different phones that work against 2 different Exchange servers.
If I schedule a meeting through outlook or outlook web access I get the meeting on the phone with the correct time.
If I schedule a meeting on the phone I get the meeting on outlook and outlook web access with a time shift of one hour.
    I'm using MFE 2.7, Exchange 2003 SP2.
Thanks in advance for your answers

This can be solved by changing the time-zone by choosing a location to the east -
for Israel (GMT+2:00) you can use Qatar (GMT+3:00).
    On the E71:
    1) Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Date and time > Network operator time: set to "off"
    2) Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Date and time > Time zone: set to "Qatar"
    Enjoy

  • Marking emails as unread w/ Mail for Exchange

Is it possible to set the status of a mail back to unread status after I have looked at it?
I have just recently moved over from a Blackberry - and on that it was easy to change the status back to unread - as a reminder that I still had to follow up on stuff.
On second thought - how do I keep the mail for exchange program from opening up the listing at the first unread message - I'd prefer to have it open at the top of the listing so I can see the latest msg first?
    Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • Mail for Exchange Missing Functions E71 v E72

    Hi All,
So I have been using an E71 with Mail for Exhcange for some time now and find it is very good.
    However
I have an E72 with Mail for Exhcange already installed on the device BUT it clearly has missing functions whihc I had on the previous version on Mail fo Exchangeo n the E71.
    These are
Comp Directory - Very useful for looking up contacts details from the GAB
View Log in Mail for Exchange. This is useful to see what the error is for a reason why the device may not be syncing with the MS Exchange Server.
Full resync in mail for Exchange. This again useful for support as other users will tell you that if the two systems have got their wires twisted, a full resync can fix the problem!
What version of the software do I have? Helps for future support and upgrades.
So Mr Nokia Software Developer. When can we have these functions added? Do we have to drop this software tool and device....

We have edited your post. Please be advised that feedback on Nokia devices are accepted in the forum provided that they are written in an acceptable manner such as tone and the choice of words.

As far as the version number goes - it's not a misprint, it's just they way Nokia numbering scheme works.  build 2.09 is version 2.9.  Similarly in Nokia Maps build 3.04 is called version 3.4... go figure.
