E71 music DRM Problems

I've got my new e71, and have come across some very strange things.
If I am using my Nokia-supplied 2GB SD card, I can download DRM music from Nokia, as well as copy DRM-protected music from Windows Media Player to the phone.
If I am using a 3rd-party 8GB SD card, I can copy over the music purchased OTA from Nokia, but cannot re-license it. I also cannot copy DRM-protected music from WMP.
I've tried already to use the password feature on the phone to see if this affects the DRM, but no luck. I am loath to try encrypting the SD, as from what I see the original Nokia SD is also not encrypted (however it's not readable in external SD card drives).
This is getting pretty annoying! Help!

Hi FB,
no, that's too obvious. The SD works fine in my reader (and the phone) -- however there is something "speical" about the Nokia SD that makes DRM possible.
You can see the effect by swapping SD cards and trying to upload a file from WMP 11 that's DRMed -- using the Nokia card it works fine, using the Sandisk card it errors out at the end during the license transfer.
I think this may be why so many other people have trouble with DRM music and Nokias -- there is some special preparation step that will make DRM possible with other SD cards.

I am using tehe Nokia E71 AND EVERYTHING IS SO FAR SO GREAT. The only problem I am experiencing now is that I cannot move to the next track using the button (that is part of the headset). In order to move to the next track, can anybody tell me how to move to the next track without having to remove my phone from the pocket?.
I have used phones e51, 6120 classic and 5300 with the same problem.

Since last 5 months am also facing the problem in E71 Music player (next track) control using the Nokia provided headset........
as you have discussed suggested to install PowerMP3 so i have installed that with version 1.00 which was free available... BUT ITS NOT WORKING... is there any other upgraded version of PowerMP3 available ?

Nokia lumiya 820 music activation problem

I have music activation problem, how to solve them ? when I start nokia music then display massage Activation problem. This problem from begining from purchase the mobile, so once I had close the nokia account and then reopnen the same account. I have not install this account any other mobile. So please give me solution for this problem.

Same music store problem

I have had the same music store problem for at least 2 maybe 3 days - it doesnt seem to stay 'connected'.I cant get to the songs.

Me too! Exactly the same, for the past two days. Music Store opens, then it keeps "accessing music store" forever. Anyone got any ideas?

E71 mail authentication problem

After having setup email on my E71 (which i love!), i realize that it isn't working fine.
I receive all incoming mail just fine. I have a problem with outgoing mail.
All mails that i send to office folks who're on the same domain name (which is hosted on a POP3/IMAP server) get sent i.e. any mail sent to [email protected] .
Mails to any other domain name yahoo, google, etc. don't get sent.
I realized that my outgoing mail server requires authentication, and essentially uses the same user name and password as my incoming mail server.
I noticed that this setting on my Outlook is set to on. However, I am unable to find a similar setting (i.e. outgoing mail server requires authentication) on my E71.
Now I am unable to reach out to most of my customers, who write in from other email accounts.
Someone please help!

The E71's email problems have been around since almost the device was launched.
I just upgraded my E71 to latest firmware 400.21.013 and the SMTP with SSL sending problem still persists.
When trying to send to an account configured to send with smtp+ssl the phone eventually responds with "General: feature not supported" and, on the server an error with "...SSL alert number 10" is reported.
Doing some research, it seems there is some misbehavior with SSL v2 and SSL v3 between the client (E71) and the server in question (sendmail+openssl on linux in my case).
The E71 is uncapable of working out how to operate in this setting (which other Nokia and non Nokia phones CAN do).
That is why so many of us are getting problems that DO NOT allow the E71 to send emails through SSL SECURED smtp servers.
Being this a business phone, high end phone with a high price tag, Nokia should assume responsibility of fixing this issues on this device.
As many of you, I need my E71 to be able to receive and send emails. I DO NOT want to use Nokia Messagins (where all mails are read by Nokia's systems first and then on/to my phone). I want my E71 to speak POP3, SMTP, IMAP and be secured with SSL/TLS as every other piece of working technology does.
Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

E71 automatic retrieval problems

Just bought the Nokia E71 but having problems with the email automatic retrieval. I have done all the required settings for it but it does not automatically retrieve. I had an E61i until now and the auto frretrieval worked fine so I know what it's about...any advice??? one thing is that when I go into the email setting and the auto retrieval section ans then come back out it starts to retrieve automatically but only that once...all other times I have to manually retrieve...I am using Eircom Net email system in Ireland...please advise

I also moved from an e61i to and E71 but didn't have any problems moving my mail accounts. I have three on the phone (MFE, POP3, and IMAP4). All work fine.
Can you connect manually to the Eircom Net email service?
What settings are you using for the "Access point in use" under the "Connection settings"? I've never had any luck getting this to work using WIFI and have all 3 accounts setup to use my ATT 3G Connection.
Also, check your "Retrieval settings" and "Automatic Retrieval" configuration to make sure they are correct.

DRM - Problems with music from the 'old' MSN Music

My problem is simple!!
My old computer running XP was used to shop a large number of Music titles from MSN Music
New Computer running Windows 7, same Music produces 'cannot load rights to my own music'
The player is trying to Connect to some odd site, which isn't there!!! Also i got the error code 'C00011E7'

If the DRM system works properly, I think your issue may be caused by the original Digital Protected Info change at the MSN music.

DRM-less music upgrade problems

After iTunes began going DRM free on their music I started upgrading some of my songs for the $.29 price. I had already gone thru the whole burn to CD/copy to WMP steps for most of my songs but wanted to get the DRM free music a little more cleanly and also get the higher bitrates.
Anyway, I have about 10 songs left to convert to DRM free but iTunes is not notifying me of their availability - even though I recently read where the entire iTunes library is available DRM free.
What I noticed is that the 10 specific song/album combinations are no longer listed as they were when we bought them originally. For example, my wife bought the Carrie Underwood "Jesus Take the Wheel" song and the album was (I'm at work now so the exact title may not be correct) "Jesus Take the Wheel (Single)". However, when I search for that album it is no longer available....even though the song clearly is.
Has anyone else come across this and found a way to upgrade their songs?

Upgrading will be done for the same version of the song.
If you originally purchased the song off the album and the album is no longer available, you cannot upgrade with the single version or a version from a different album.
Sometimes, previous purchases were not linked correctly and did not show up as elgible for upgrade.

MP3 Music library on computer has DRM problems wit...

I have the OVI Suite 3.0.0.284 installed on my PC. Before installing it , I already have a large library of MP3 ripped from my own personal collection of CD.
For a few weeks the OVI Suite Music library was find. One day each track is now displaying a warning sign and I am unable to play or transfer to my 6750.
What can I do to fix the situation and prevent it from happening again.

I am replying to my own posting. I upgraded from OVI Suite 3.0.0.248 to 3.0.0.290 and it fixed the problem.
It is illogical that when a new version comes out that the music library becomes unusable by Ovi Suite.
Any explanation?

Cant transfer music drms

Hey guys just bought a new 5800 and having problems on the nokia music site.
It wont let me transfer the music I download to my computer or phone.
It come up saying
the filke or device is protected by windows media drm and requires downloading and installing an upgrade to a windows media component.
When I click on install I get an error report and get kicked off.
Ive had a look evrywhere and tried to download various things with no luck.
Please help

E63 & E71- Music player's equalizer does not work ...

I would advise to all the owners of the E71 and E63 that Nokia disenable the equalizer of the music player when you put the headphones in appliances. After updating the unit note that the equalizer only works with the sound of the speaker and the equalizer does not work with the headphones anymore.
I ask you to please click the link below and make their complaints about this new firmware that "destroys" the equalizer for the music player that Nokia fix this terrible problem!

Oh my. That is a big problem. Fortunately for me, I don't use the equalizer so it doesn't really affect me all that much. But still, I have no idea how they could just randomly break something like that.

Nokia Music - Licence Problem

I recently reset my phone to factory settings and my downloaded music refused to play. It did attempt to acquire a licence online but the attempt failed.
I cant download the music on a pc and transfer to my device (N95) as I dont have access to a pc at moment.
I tried deleting the files and redownloading from the Music Vault but encountered the same problems.
Any help would be appreciated.

Even i too have faced this problem before. This is because when you download music from Nokia store, the music files are DRM protected. So only that particular device (your nokia 5800) have the access to play that particular music file.
Only thing you can do is, Jus connect to GPRS or WiFi from your mobile and get licence from air.The other thing you can do is delete that music file and google it for the same music fil, download it and play it Lol

E71 music player refresh

I just can't get the player to refresh correctly! It always freezes no matter what I do. I added ~200 songs, it detected ~90 but stopped there, saying "refreshing" even after 1 whole hour!
I tried Nokia Music Manager (from PC suite), Windows Media Player, Mediamonkey, tried manually putting the mp3's in the memory card, tried the default folder, tried custom folders. What's going on!?
I am using the latest firmware.
Please someone help me out with this, I'm so frustrated, I'm starting to consider other options (selling this mobile).

Unfortunately, at least in my case, the solution suggested that involves deleting hidden files, reformatting the memory card, etc. does not work. The only way I was able to fix my E71 was by re-flashing the entire phone, then reinstalling everything. That fixed the problem, but only for about 2 weeks. Last night, I went to sleep with 913 music files on my phone. This morning, the files are stil there, but Music Player doesn't see any of them.
The only status that changed was I turned my phone off, last night, and turned it on, this morning. No music files were added or anything.
I don't care to re-flash my phone, every couple of weeks. Even with the latest firmware, there seems to be a problem with the E71 and its music player.
Although it takes a little while to start up, I'm now using LCG Jukebox, as my music player. It doesn't display track listings as well as Nokia Music Player, but LCG Jukebox has no problem reading the tracks that Nokia Music Player cannot even find. Plus, LCG Jukebox allows me to fast forward through single MP3 files, such as podcasts, which is a trick Nokia Music Player cannot handle.
I'll be interested to see, with these new phone Nokia is releasing (N8, C7, E7, etc.) if the same software problems with the E71 pop up, there. No amount of eye-candy (the coverflow display) can make up for a music player that cannot even identify tracks in common MP3 format, on the memory card.
This thread might as well be closed out; there's no reasonable resolution to the problem of the E71 not refreshing its music tracks. If it happens to your phone, there really appears to be little you can do about it. Nokia has your money and the only choice now is whether you'll give them more, and spin the roulette wheel on a new Nokia phone, betting the music player on that phone won't spike the same issue.

Nokia c5-03 gallery & music player problem.

Hi... I've been using My c5-03 for a while now.. Yesterday after transferring songs from my pc a few problems have come up.. 1) the music player won't refresh but i can listen to songs though.. 2) the gallery dissent doesnt show any photos or videos except those in phone memory.. 3) i'm unable to change my ringtone or message tones as only the default tones are alone displayed.. Please help...
