E71 New firmware (110.07.127)

Could any one kindly tell me if and when this firmware update will be available through Nokia Software Updater?

im afraid what you are saying is probably true. although i must thank nokia for producing the E71 as its the best nokia has produced so far. i cannot ever go back to a cheap plasticky device again.
Sadly, Even though the E71 is a great phone, it has a lot of bugs. The hardware is not at fault, its just the software handling the hardware. Being an eletronic/computer engineer in profession makes it easier for me to understand this.
However, Ive already managed to get my E71 updated to 110.07.127 through a service center hoping that it would solve my issues. I saw the supposed change-log on many other mobile blogs, but i doubt all of that were fixed.
for e.g.:
1. I still cant end a call if the number i call is busy or unreachable.
2. There are some GUI curruptions showing weird animations on the top-right corner during calls.
3. NON-user friendly gallery with OLD GUI. Why on earth would you have a gallery software like this on a flagship business device.
4. Screen brightness is lower than what can be displayed. I stumbled upon this when I installed a third party software to control the display/keyboard lighting. Why nokia?
5. Bad Quality of the 3.2 MP camera. I remember taking better pictures from a 6630.
6. Auto-Focus - Seriously, When did anyone have to press a button for auto-focus to initiate? If so, you should take out the "Auto" bit from "Auto-Focus"
7. Im sure there's many more that i cant remember right now.
I know E-series is for business users, But reducing features and making it a less-fun device to use is just wrong. Why does nokia think that business users are dull boring people?
99% of Symbian 9.2 is just pure software features and I know for a fact that they have all the power to correct these.
Overally, i am happy with the E71, infact i think im in love with it - but at the same time i am annoyed that great phone like the E71 comes with stupid features. I am sure Nokia is looking at this in a business perspective (and at the end its all about money), but Nokia - when you make decisions like this, it just makes you look like the bad-guy, you are just asking for it.
Give what the people want.

Nokia E71 - New Firmware Released 2nd July - Vr 30...

Hi All
If you didn't know already a new firmware for the Nokie E71 was released yesterday.
I have updated mine this afternoon, and it looks good so far. The only thing I have initally noticed that a Myspace Facebook and Youtube application has appeared.
As for the other improvements at the moment they must all be in the background. The handset is much faster though.
My handset is a UK Model, Unbranded and SIM Free, so not all network operator will have approved the update as yet. As always if you cannot update then its generally because the firmware for your operator or region has not yet been approved.

It is not possible to update between Feature Packs.
My GPS is working fine, along with my maps.
If you are restoreing from a backup, you can find that somethings will not install correctly. I normally only restore stuff that I actually need to keep such as contacts etc, and install everything else anew, or resync with Mail for Exchange.
I notice that stability has also improved.

Nokia E71 NAM-1 110.07.127 Update Issue please hel...

Hello everyone, I hope soomeone here can help me out, many other forums have been un informative,..
I just updated my firmware to 110.07.127. everythig is great i migrated my programs over and my contacts and all, but i have one issue..
When i am at the Home screen, if i start typing the name of my contacts it no longer brings up a list of possible selections for who i may want to call..
I loooked everywhere to find the option but there is none to enable/disable it..
ow do i get my home screen contact saerch back !!

There are three possibilities:
1) Start typing the name. Then press "Options" (left softkey) and choose "Contact search on/off"
2) Go to Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Call -> Contact search (last item in the list) and switch it to on
3) If you don't have the possibilities 1 or 2 then you are out of luck. Either Nokia has removed this possibility in the latest NAM firmware or it was from the beginning not a NAM but an APAC version with a wrong firmware (eg a so called "Gray Import").

after 60th character on sms,typing becomes slower and slower..and also turkish characters are counted as more than one character which results in high cost.
old update which is 210.... was successul on reduced support but it does not work on this update!!!!

E71 + New Firmware = Unhappy Camper

Hello everyone.
I'm hoping there may be some suggestions to help me out here.
I decided to update the firmware on my e71 hoping to fix that annoying phone-hangs-on-busy-number-bug, but all that's been achieved is that the earpiece speaker is now very distorted, as if it's being pre-amped and now distorting, even when the volume is turned down. It's not overly loud or louder than before, it's just that it's now no longer clear (applies to both phone calls as well as keypad tones).
Any suggestions, or is it time for a new phone?
(which won't be another Nokia after this disastrous incident).
Nokia says I can't downgrade firmware and their only other option is taking it in to a service centre which I think is a sham (bah humbug) since this only happened after the firmware update (and will now cost money since the phone is out of warranty).

E71 - new firmware old camera look

When I bought e71 I didn't expect professional camera but I can not believe that after 4 firmware versions (I have v400.21.013) I still have reddish picture. I also thought that this kind of problem is unsolvable but I find that HTC have solved similar problem. For those who work on this problem here is HTC solutions you can see that this is solvable.

I hear the beep even without gprs connection...
I use(d) the loudspeaker option this way (no need to be a motorist ):
- With my E71 on the desk
- I start the call and immediately after I enable the loudspeaker
- Then I put my eyes back on the PC monitor...
Now I lose precious time 'cause I have to look at the phone

NOKIA E71 NEW FIRMWARE HELP - 501.21.009

Hello members, today i came to know about the 501 FW for my e71. But NSU says my phone is already up to date and i cant update it from 500 to 501.xx.xx. The origin of the phone is UAE.
Please help and also tell if there is any diff. between th 500 and 501 FW...

E71 new firmware V400.21.013 bugs

Update today and i can say the call bug is not fixed, the size of the text in messages not fixed, the screensaver bug is present.....
Update just for the Ovi contacts? Poor software and can i say about quality and respect for customers?

- Call pickup delay still not fixed.(so i guess its hardware relatied)
- E-mail wizard installs old version of Nokia Messaging
- Old version of Nokia Messaging and new version both don't integrate in phone (not selectable as default mailbox ... and not selectable in Gallery for sending a picture by mail).
Conclusion : Nokia is still a hardware developer ... not software.

E71 looses micro SD card in 110.07.127

Hi,
I was upgrading my E71 to the latest firmware 110.07.127. SW works ok. However, now E71 looses connection to the microSD card. E.g. when I go to messages main screen, E71 simply informs, memorycard cannot be used and phone internal memory is used. When I change the settings to use the memory card for messages once again, phone is happy and it really uses the memorycard.
The same card was working before with the old firmware. I have tried to format the card. Formating is ok, but still after a while, SD is lost. Encryption for the card is not in use.
This might be a wild guess, but when I'm using E71 as 3G modem quite a lot. It might be so that this bug appears, after I have used PC Suite for connecting to the Internet. PC Suite version is 7.0.8.2
Anyone else having this problem?

It seems like a bug.
Would happen to me on old firmware where my emails and sms were on sd card, and after every usb/bt connect, it would give the same error of switching memory to phone memory.This could be reproduced if after USB connect, I would turn off the phone and start again to see the sd card not recognised. Then a removal and reinsert would make things work fine again.
But i figured out later that I had encryption on.I disabled it but same issue continued.
With the new firmware, i decided to try to switch to sd memory and my sms and emails would not open at all.
Gave up and switched back to phone memory for all messages.
Now even after USB sync, all works well.

E71 Firmware Upgrade to 110.07.127 + WLAN Connecti...

I have a E71 (RM 346) (15 Days Old - Just Purchased it)and I have updated my firmware to Version 110.07.127 last night.
I have following problesm:
1. Even When I am standing next to the Wifi Access Point the E71 will say that there is no WLAN Available. (However while doing the SCAN, my laptop which uses the same WLAN Network works, fine.
2. After the upgrade of the firmware - I am unable to use the GPRS/EDGE from my operation - as I have unlimited data plan.
I HAVE DONE A COMPLETE FACTORY Reset as well - but nothing helps. This problem was NOT there before the Firmware Upgrade.
Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

E71 WLAN problems after upgrade to 110.07.127 firm...

Hi, recently I've upgraded my E71 to 110.07.127 firmware and all WLAN operations became very unstable.
For example, when I open WLAN wizard it might show that there's no networks - while were are some for sure, when I press Refresh it starts showing some of them, then I press Refesh once again it shows more (or less), but none of them I can connect to anyway/.
I have a Wi-fi hotspot at home and I've been using it for a while with the phone, but now it either doesn't show up in the list of WLANs or, if it does, the phone cannot connect to it saying "Network is unavailable".
I tried to play with the hotspot options changing bands, "b" or "g" modes etc - no luck at all.
Pls help. Thanks.

Why no new firmware for E71 (product code:0569371)

Now, normally I would not care but over the last couple of months everyone keeps blogging about the new firmware for their E71.
I have paid a full price for mine in the US (Newegg) so that I would not be constrained by some provider limitations.
Well, now I find out that everyone else in the world, including the US, but that one product code (0569371) has received their updates, some even two and I am still stuck on the original 1.0 release.
Can anyone one over there at Nokia explains this to me like a 4-year-old, why does Nokia punishes owners of this particular product?

Having exchanged a few polite emails with NA Nokia devission I got this today:
"Nokia is consistently working to improve our product services and realizes the software update is important to you. I regret to inform you, that I do not have a release date for the firmware update to your Nokia E71 device. Please continue to monitor the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) for updates for your device. "
So, I have decided to go on a mission to provide potential North America buyers of the Nokia phones sold in US about the support they can expect. Do I think this will help? I doubt it, but what else can I do? Class action suite?

E71 can't disable the keypad autolock (new firmwar...

Hi. I just updated the firmware of my E71. A new feature which i find it very annoying is the new keypad autolock. I want to check if this is normal, or it is a problem on my E71.
On my E71 i have the keypad autolock disabled, while is phone lock is turned on (1 minute). In the previous firmare, i would only need to enter the lock code to unlock it. However, after i installed the new firmware, it will require me to unlock the keypad (left top key + key function) before i entre the lock code to unlock it; which is very annoying. Is this normal? Can i turn it off? I tried everything and it did not work, including turning on the keypad autolock for 59 minute. Please help, how can i turn this off. I want to keep the automatic phone lock feature, but i want to disable the keypad autolock.

this probably is a case of a bug in ur device so what u can try are: plz make a back up
take out your sim card and put in *#7780# to restore factory settings. you should not lose any data, but all settings will go into default. try that first.
the second option is a reset *#7370# this one will erase all of your data, 'wipe the phone clean' and restore to factory settings. see if any of these options work and if you are able to use your phone as you like/need to.
the third option U can go in for a hard reset which will turn ur device as it left the factory totally new
U can also update/reinstall ur firmware and see the result...
Also use ur device without the memory card and see
in case of ur memory card there are different options available to you to get rid of the corrupt/unwanted data in your card.
menu--tools--memory---options---format memory card......
remember everything including ur factory installed apps will be deleted......... but u can always download them later either from nokia or google them...
or insert ur card in any reader or laptop and check for virus and also the hidden folders.......
