Update today and i can say the call bug is not fixed, the size of the text in messages not fixed, the screensaver bug is present.....
Update just for the Ovi contacts? Poor software and can i say about quality and respect for customers?

- Call pickup delay still not fixed.(so i guess its hardware relatied)
- E-mail wizard installs old version of Nokia Messaging
- Old version of Nokia Messaging and new version both don't integrate in phone (not selectable as default mailbox ... and not selectable in Gallery for sending a picture by mail).
Conclusion : Nokia is still a hardware developer ... not software.

Crashing after update to firmware v400.21.013 for ...

I'm using nokia E71 and I just update to firmware v400.21.013. Now it keeps report error and I can't connect to pc suite. After I download and install one software to MMC, I lost everything. Can I re-install the original firmware back? Please anyone can help. Thanks alot.

You can always reinstall the latest firmware. Reset the E71 after update. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings. Just don't install programs or applications on the memorycard. Insert the card IN the phone and NOT on a PC or Mac to format. Remove the card by pressing the red button and choose remove card from the dialog option. If you insert the card later you should hear a short bleep.

E71 - new firmware old camera look

When I bought e71 I didn't expect professional camera but I can not believe that after 4 firmware versions (I have v400.21.013) I still have reddish picture. I also thought that this kind of problem is unsolvable but I find that HTC have solved similar problem. For those who work on this problem here is HTC solutions you can see that this is solvable.

I hear the beep even without gprs connection...
I use(d) the loudspeaker option this way (no need to be a motorist ):
- With my E71 on the desk
- I start the call and immediately after I enable the loudspeaker
- Then I put my eyes back on the PC monitor...
Now I lose precious time 'cause I have to look at the phone

Nokia E71 - New Firmware Released 2nd July - Vr 30...

Hi All
If you didn't know already a new firmware for the Nokie E71 was released yesterday.
I have updated mine this afternoon, and it looks good so far. The only thing I have initally noticed that a Myspace Facebook and Youtube application has appeared.
As for the other improvements at the moment they must all be in the background. The handset is much faster though.
My handset is a UK Model, Unbranded and SIM Free, so not all network operator will have approved the update as yet. As always if you cannot update then its generally because the firmware for your operator or region has not yet been approved.

It is not possible to update between Feature Packs.
My GPS is working fine, along with my maps.
If you are restoreing from a backup, you can find that somethings will not install correctly. I normally only restore stuff that I actually need to keep such as contacts etc, and install everything else anew, or resync with Mail for Exchange.
I notice that stability has also improved.

Nokia E66-new firmware 400.21.013

Hi Nokia guys,
i have Nokia E66, used with Nokia original software only /even theme/.The telephone is blocking out at least twice per day. It is very unserious to leave such a business handset with messy software.
I was very happy surpised today when i saw that a new firmware is came out /400.21.013/, BUT my NSU isn't support WINDOWS 7.
In this case, what i /and all Nokia customers/ shall do?

hi, i downloaded the new software version for my e66 and when i switch on the phone it says lock code. so i entered the default lock code 12345 and it dint unlock. i have never put a lock code before.

after 60th character on sms,typing becomes slower and slower..and also turkish characters are counted as more than one character which results in high cost.

I bought this phone a year and a half ago and haven't update firmware since then. I am going on vacation tomorrow, so I thought it would be a good idea to update it just in case :/
First of all, the backup gets stuck on 81 percent... but after I receive a sms it says it's completed. So i get down to installing the new firmwar... 31.0.0.5 and I install it.
When I run my phone, it's ok for 1-2 sec and then an installing notification pops-up along with the bar (never ending) and it just stays there... and the phone freezes up and I have to wait like 5 minutes to unlock the keypad because of this... I tried reinstalling the firmware... same problem...
Any idea what this is and how I can fix it? I am going away on vacation tomorrow and I would really like to have a usable phone :/ Any tips, advice?

well generally, you have to let it do its thing. it is either memory card or mass memory of your phone that has apps that your phone is trying to index. it is normal and sometimes take a long while depending on how much stuff you actually have on those memories.

E71 firmware v400.21.013 power consumption

I recently upgraded the firmware of my E71 from version 300 to 400.21.013. Previously the battery lasted in normal use approximately three days. After the upgrade the battery drains in half a day. Has anyone noticed similar problem and is there a solution for it?

Noticed that too... on the 300 firmware nokia energy profiler showed constant energy consumption about 0,05W when not used.
Now just after the phone turns on the power consumption goes normally (http://www.image-share.com/image.php?img=133/168.png), but if I ever use the bulitin WLAN desktop app/plugin it consumes every minute nearly 1W of power even if it's not used and scanning is turned off (http://www.image-share.com/image.php?img=133/169.png).
I have no WLAN availability scanning (it's turned to 'never'), and I always turn the WLAN desktop scan off.
The funniest thing at all is that when I 'delete' the WLAN scan from desktop (in personalization options) the power consumption goes again as it was before using any WLAN connection (http://www.image-share.com/image.php?img=133/170.png)

E71 + New Firmware = Unhappy Camper

Hello everyone.
I'm hoping there may be some suggestions to help me out here.
I decided to update the firmware on my e71 hoping to fix that annoying phone-hangs-on-busy-number-bug, but all that's been achieved is that the earpiece speaker is now very distorted, as if it's being pre-amped and now distorting, even when the volume is turned down. It's not overly loud or louder than before, it's just that it's now no longer clear (applies to both phone calls as well as keypad tones).
Any suggestions, or is it time for a new phone?
(which won't be another Nokia after this disastrous incident).
Nokia says I can't downgrade firmware and their only other option is taking it in to a service centre which I think is a sham (bah humbug) since this only happened after the firmware update (and will now cost money since the phone is out of warranty).

E71 update firmware 400.21.013 didn't fix the came...

I already update the firmware to 400.21.013 with hope this will fix the camera problem with purple tint and quality more better.
After update i'm really disappointed because the purple tint is there and the picture quality still worst.

There are a few things here that make me think that this is the first nokia and the first update of FW for many of you.
when you update software, all of your installed after maket programmes, are gone and you have to install them again. If they are on your micro card, and you do the update, then anything that was on your phone pairing with the software on the card is - gone. you must reinstall all your programmes again. Just like if you reformatted your PC. Same thing.
many of the settings that you think you save, nokia software settings, are never brought back when you save backup and reinstall your settings on the phone. nokia has not got this 100% yet. i would say it is closer to 75%, and so i like to go through all the settings myself again. i have done many reformatts and have learnt that they are not worth the time. only worth it for a FW update.
If you want to update your firmware (refering to the orange user up top) and you are unable to because of your product code, then you have to change your product code and you can find out how to do that here: http://raj.jp/index.php/2008/12/05/the-black-art-of-firmware-updates/comment-page-1/#comment-588821 i have done it on two E71's and all is well.
Someone was talking about the connect/disconnect of the power and PC Suite when you are re/installing any settings, well your PC screen tells you that this will happen and so you should be aware of it at the very least. ONLY DISCONNECT THE PHONE FROM THE USB CABLE WHEN IT HAS FULLY REBOOTED AT THE END OF THE PROCESS. YOU WILL KNOW THAT THIS HAPPENS AFTER YOUR PHONE ASKS YOU FOR YOUR PIN. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. any sooner and you will ftuck your phone.

im afraid what you are saying is probably true. although i must thank nokia for producing the E71 as its the best nokia has produced so far. i cannot ever go back to a cheap plasticky device again.
Sadly, Even though the E71 is a great phone, it has a lot of bugs. The hardware is not at fault, its just the software handling the hardware. Being an eletronic/computer engineer in profession makes it easier for me to understand this.
However, Ive already managed to get my E71 updated to 110.07.127 through a service center hoping that it would solve my issues. I saw the supposed change-log on many other mobile blogs, but i doubt all of that were fixed.
for e.g.:
1. I still cant end a call if the number i call is busy or unreachable.
2. There are some GUI curruptions showing weird animations on the top-right corner during calls.
3. NON-user friendly gallery with OLD GUI. Why on earth would you have a gallery software like this on a flagship business device.
4. Screen brightness is lower than what can be displayed. I stumbled upon this when I installed a third party software to control the display/keyboard lighting. Why nokia?
5. Bad Quality of the 3.2 MP camera. I remember taking better pictures from a 6630.
6. Auto-Focus - Seriously, When did anyone have to press a button for auto-focus to initiate? If so, you should take out the "Auto" bit from "Auto-Focus"
7. Im sure there's many more that i cant remember right now.
I know E-series is for business users, But reducing features and making it a less-fun device to use is just wrong. Why does nokia think that business users are dull boring people?
99% of Symbian 9.2 is just pure software features and I know for a fact that they have all the power to correct these.
Overally, i am happy with the E71, infact i think im in love with it - but at the same time i am annoyed that great phone like the E71 comes with stupid features. I am sure Nokia is looking at this in a business perspective (and at the end its all about money), but Nokia - when you make decisions like this, it just makes you look like the bad-guy, you are just asking for it.

Hello members, today i came to know about the 501 FW for my e71. But NSU says my phone is already up to date and i cant update it from 500 to 501.xx.xx. The origin of the phone is UAE.
Please help and also tell if there is any diff. between th 500 and 501 FW...

I was just checking for the new firmware for Nokia 6680,
via Nokia Software Updater. And I was surprise to find there are
new updates. Then I upgrade my 6680 from v5.04.07 to v5.04.40.
After upgrade, I notice that there are some difficulties in making & receiving calls, and sending SMS. I'm staying in Malaysia and using Celcom 3G. I refer the provider on this matter, and they said their network is ok.
Could it be the upgrades?
What are the changelog for v5.04.40

Yeah, that's what I thought. An upgrade is suppose to improve the use. Unless, the new firmware has a tiny bug, or it's an unofficial release. I looked up in the Internet, so far, no info about the new firmware.
Can Nokia release an unofficial firmware?

E71 can't browse or connect after V400.21.013 upda...

I recently updated my firmware to V400.21.013 everything works perfectly however I cant connect to the internet or get any e-mail.
I get the following error "Connection not available"
Tried various modes of connection via WLAN, 3G, GPRS etc nothing seems to work.
Any help?

It will restore the phone to factory settings. You don't need to update the firmware again. New firmware completely overwrites the old firmware, therefore becoming the new 'factory' settings.

E71 can't disable the keypad autolock (new firmwar...

Hi. I just updated the firmware of my E71. A new feature which i find it very annoying is the new keypad autolock. I want to check if this is normal, or it is a problem on my E71.
On my E71 i have the keypad autolock disabled, while is phone lock is turned on (1 minute). In the previous firmare, i would only need to enter the lock code to unlock it. However, after i installed the new firmware, it will require me to unlock the keypad (left top key + key function) before i entre the lock code to unlock it; which is very annoying. Is this normal? Can i turn it off? I tried everything and it did not work, including turning on the keypad autolock for 59 minute. Please help, how can i turn this off. I want to keep the automatic phone lock feature, but i want to disable the keypad autolock.

this probably is a case of a bug in ur device so what u can try are: plz make a back up
take out your sim card and put in *#7780# to restore factory settings. you should not lose any data, but all settings will go into default. try that first.
the second option is a reset *#7370# this one will erase all of your data, 'wipe the phone clean' and restore to factory settings. see if any of these options work and if you are able to use your phone as you like/need to.
the third option U can go in for a hard reset which will turn ur device as it left the factory totally new
U can also update/reinstall ur firmware and see the result...
Also use ur device without the memory card and see
in case of ur memory card there are different options available to you to get rid of the corrupt/unwanted data in your card.
menu--tools--memory---options---format memory card......
remember everything including ur factory installed apps will be deleted......... but u can always download them later either from nokia or google them...
or insert ur card in any reader or laptop and check for virus and also the hidden folders.......
