E71 Route 66 Mobile 7

I am happy to report Route 66 Mobile 7 works with the internal GPS in the Nokia E71. It does require the latest version (7.0.545) which includes a patch intended to make the N95 work.
I'm posting this info because I could not find it anywhere, and Route 66 tech support said they do not support the E71. I took a chance and bought the phone anyways.
If you already own Route 66 Mobile 7, it can be activated on three different phones, and then never again. Even the earliest versions sold on MMC cards can be moved to a MicroSD card. You might need to apply some updates from the www.66.com before it will install and activate.

Hi,
That is good news indeed. Could you tell me the exact steps you did to upgrade?
Here's my experience:
1. Installed to microSD via original CD (v502)
2. Insert into phone, activated, works fine. No internal GPS support as expected.
So now downloaded v545 from 66.com.
Upgrade effort #1
1. Connected E71 as mass storage
2. Run updater, seems no problem
3. But now app says "Cannot execute due to security" (note earlier I have disabled signed checking etc)
Upgrade effort #2
0. Uninstalled using App Manager
1. Used card reader
2. Start from original CD
3. Immediately run updater
4. When put in phone does not appear installed but in app manager there is a sis that can be installed. However this failed to install
Thanks!

  • Odd high data consumption on 10.3.1 (and 10.2.1) - on wifi, but routing over mobile network?

Couldn't find a similar recent thread. Just an inconclusive one from 2013 that looked more about the difference between BBOS 7 & BB10.
tl;dr: It looks like my Z10 is routing some traffic to the mobile network when to applications it looks like the wifi connection is active.
I have not previously had high data-use issues with my Z10. On Friday February 20th, I updated to 10.3.1.1581. On Friday March 6th, I got a notice saying I'd used 75% of my data (billing cycle is on the 18th, 800MB limit). At that point, the device monitor said I'd used ~300MB*.
Woke up the next morning and say an alert that came in overnight saying I'd gone past my limit, and the device monitor said I'd used ~540MB.
240MB of mobile network data use while I was at home, connected to wifi, and asleep. The device monitor attributed it to "System". Normally, my mobile data use is mostly PIM and Browser.
I looked back in the data usage report from Koodo and saw that there was a previous, similar spike on Feb 20, earlier in the day before the 10.3.1 upgrade. Right around the time I turned on wifi at work and put the phone on its dock, hoping to start the upgrade. That failed due to AP issues.
I use "Pocket Casts" (Android podcast app). It's set to download only when on wifi and connected to power.
Could it be that it thought I was connected to wifi, but due to weak signal strength, the OS actually routed the connection over the mobile network? I sometimes only have one bar of signal strength in my bedroom.
If that's the case, why is an Android app's data use recorded as "System" and not at least "Android Player"? It looks like it must be lumped in under "System", though, as the wifi usage numbers don't show anything else with enough bandwidth consumption to account for podcast downloads.

    hi,
what is Koodo and what do "AP issues" mean?
besides, on Friday 20th, which OS version did you update from?

  • E71 and Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2

Hi, I installed this browser on my E71 and it works fine except - no Hebrew (perhaps understandable for a beta) but when I type in english, it does wierd things - alternates between lowercase and uppercase on its own- this makes life difficult. (especially typing passwords etc).
for example... if I want to surf to www.yahoomail.com, I type it and what it types is:
    www.yahoomaIl.com (capital i).
Any ideas? I also posted on the Opera forum
    thanks

did you install the international version rather than the english version?
I installed the english version and had no problems with it.. it became my favorite browser and my only request is that I can change themes and background color as well as be able to play flash...
    -> 3210 -> 8210 -> 8350 -> 6600 -> n80ie -> e71

  • Cannot connect to itunes store ipod touch via router

I am new to Ipod ownership and so far its been a good experience.
I have been searching on the web but not been able to find a solution to my problem.
The issue I have is that recently I cannot download apps from the app store via my home router. I can search the internet etc using it but when I click to install an app I get the message that says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I have tried to use a different wireless router (my mobile phone acting as a hotspot) and do not get the same message.
I assume therefore that there is some issue between the router (a netgear WGR614) and the ipod. The annoying thing is that I could do it earlier in the week.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Two things to try.  Please reply with what works.
1: Turn on Airplane mode, then turn it off again.  This resets internet related settings.
    Does it work?
2:  Changing the DNS in Setting, Wi-Fi, DHCP tab, DNS , replace with 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 8.8.4.4 (Google)
    Does it work?

  • How to install Route 66 navigation software on N95...

I am trying to install Route 66 Mobile 7 Benelux navigation software on my N95. The software manufacturer has given me the instructions below, but this still has not worked. I cannot see the Rooute 66 Icon in the phone. Can someone help? Thanks
The installation of the ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 software on Nokia N95 should be done manually as follows:
    1) Connect the Nokia N95to your PC via connection cable.
    2) On the screen of the phone the following choices will display:
    - Media player
    - PC suite
    - Mass Storage
    3) Choose " Mass Storage"
    4) The phone will appear as an "external HDD" on your computer.
    5) Run ROUTE 66 Mobile 7.
6 Select the "Browse content" option and then select and open "MultiMediaCardImage” folder.
    7) Copy the content of the folder from the Mobile 7 CD/DVD to the N95 HDD.
    8) When copying is finished, you will find the R66 Mobile 7 icon in on the Nokia N95.
In order to work with the internal GPS, follow the instructions bellow:
Please check the version of ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 that you currently have. Launch Mobile 7 and select Options->View->About Mobile. The version information is displayed in the header and in the About text.
If the version is 7.3.545 (for S60 3rd edition devices), you are already up to date! If the version is 7.3, or 7.3.x where x is a number less than 545 (for S60 3rd edition devices), download the update file available under the link at the bottom of the page.
    http://www.66.com/route66/support.php?cid=UK&sec=1&ssec=4
Please after the installation of the update the application can not be launched due to errors, we advise you to hard reset the phone as follows:
    - type *#7370# , password 12345; be aware that by hard-resetting the phone you will lose all the changes done since the first use of the phone (contacts, messages, settings).
However, note you can make a backup of the phone settings via Nokia suite on your PC.

    Hello khanw
No this is not working for me. But it seems like your MultiMediaCardImage” has many more folders and files that what I have. As I look on the installation disc, I only see System. I thought that maybe it was because the others were hidden files & folders, but I've checked and my folder settings are supposed to show these hidden files. So I have the feeling that I'm stuck. I sent a follow up e-mail to Route 66, and the only thing that they could do is repeat the original instructions. I wonder why your CD has many more files on it than mine does????
Maybe there is someone else in the forum that can help??

  • RT66 Mobile 8 now out! :-)

    http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=UK&sec=0&ssec=1&prodid=5443

it is mainly the same program installed already on nokiam 6110 navigator (called there "nokia navigator"), but with same revisionnumbers, and all pictures on the side for route 66 mobile 8 were simply taken from the nokia 6110 navigator.
therefore i can say: for 129 euro you get the program with one map "western europe with nordics" (that includes 22 countries, fits on a 2gb card, and is from q2 2007, navteq).
if you want other maps, for example the maps "baltics and greece", then you have to pay again, most of those cards cost 49 euro each. an overview on maps available for nokia 6110 navigator is here: https://secure.66.com/store/ , so I guess those maps will also all be available to download and install on route 66 mobile 8 for other phones. prices are also listened there.

  • Route 66 & N95 - Contacts Empty?

    Hey guys,
I just recently got Route 66 on my N95, when I go to navigate in the application and choose "Contacts" the list is empty? It doesn't seem to be reading my contacts.
I have a friend who has tried this on other Nokia S60 phones without any luck either.... anybody know any tricks on how to get the contacts to appear?
    Thanks.

The latest version of Route66 (version 8) should run fine, if it doesn't, you're best contacting Route66 support - they're actually very helpful.
If you have the previous version (version 7), then check out these instructions that Route66 support sent me when I asked them whether my version 7 software could run on an N95 8GB:
    1) Connect the Nokia N95 to your PC via connection cable.
    2) On the screen of the phone the following choices will display:
    - Media player
    - PC suite
    - Data Transfer
    3) Choose " Data Transfer"
    4) The phone will appear as an "external HDD" on your computer.
    5) Run ROUTE 66 Mobile 7.
6 Select the "Browse content" option and then select and open "MultiMediaCardImage” folder.
    7) Copy the content of the folder from the Mobile 7 CD/DVD to the N95 HDD.
    8) Save on the desktop of your computer the update file from the following link:
    http://www.66.com/route66/support.php?cid=UK&sec=1&ssec=4
    9) From the desktop, run it directly on the phone.
    10) Disconnect the cable from PC.
Open Mobile 7 from thr phone’s main menu
Also check in Settings – Phone settings > Phone settings > General > Positioning -> Positioning methods and make sure you select “integrated GPS”, and not Bluetooth.

    Hihi,
    Gavin,
Have you tried a router and mobile restart? If that fails maybe do a network reset on one of the mobile devices and re-enter the details. See if that works. If so re-enter on other mobiles. Please make sure you know all the passwords of your networks if you have many stored :-)
hongkongandy, can you restart your router and iPhone. If no good, could you try and forget the BT Fon network (under the wifi settings on the iPhone) and turn the wifi off and on, see if it connects to your correct wifi station. Maybe take a walk to test it :-)  If that fails forget that wifi and re-enter the details. Turn wifi on and off see if it connects.
    Good luck,
    Shaun

  • E71 Update from Ver.100.07.76

When are we gonna see an update from E71 handsets running the following
    100.07.76
    08-06-2008
    RM-346
    E71-1 (285.02)
I have consistently seen Firmware updates available.. Up to V.300.x.xx now, however everytime I enter my Product code, it says my version is the only one avaialble...

Are you on 3 (phone model no 0569999)?
Locked phones can only upgrade to branded firmware and 3 have simply not bothered to work on any firmware release since 100.07.76, so all their E71s are stuck with old firmware and riddled with bugs.
A post on the thread below suggests they are working on it though and that if you call them they will then notify you when an upgrade is possible.
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=54529
Frankly it is long overdue and unacceptable for phones of this type to go so long without new firmware.
I only got the E71 because T-Mobile wouldn't upgrade me to a BB last year.  Wish I'd gone elsewhere now, this phone has been nothing but trouble - patchy coverage, intermittent (at best) internet needing constant phone reboots, and terrible battery life.  All issues that could be (and probably have been by everyone else) improved in firmware.
If you're not on 3 it would be interesting to hear who else is so lazy?

  • Nokia 5800 with Route66 Mobile 7 for S60 V2/3

    Hello,
I have Route 66 Mobile 7  S60 V2/3 installed at a new Nokia 5800.(it comes from my older Mobile N80i)
The software Route66 start up very well but can handle the touchscreen of the Nokia 5800.
Is there an possibilty  that the Nokia 5800 can work with mine Route 66 version.
Route66 said that you need S60 V5, but maybe somebody knows an other solution.
    Thx

What do you mean lie? This is not a tech forum. This is a user-to-user forum. Posting here comments or suggestions regarding what you want for the next firmware is unlikely to reach the software developers simply because they dont go here. Even if they do, its rarely. We arent Nokia Employees
     2. Radio Freeze - running my radio now for 10min. Still isnt freezing.
    3. My mp3's have tags. They're all correct. Maybe the program you're using for tagging is not compatible?
    4. This I dont understand. I thought you said Navigation? We're talking about Ovi Maps when you refer to navigation right?
    5. Hmm, cant say I noticed. Whenever I clear browser cache, memory size goes back to what it was before. Well, at least IMO this works fine for me.
    6. What's wrong with using that program to clean?
    8. Why bother putting factory application when there's free out there? Would only make the cost of making the phone bigger.
    9. I'll try to check this. I usually use Opera Mobile and Skyfire because they have flash support. I think if you have enough free RAM you might be able to play facebook games here.
    10. Hmm, ok I'll try to connect to Ovi store for longer than 30min to see if it crashes. have you updated Ovi store yet?
    11. Uh, how much free memory do you have on C anyway? I have like 37mb free, and it's pretty fine. Cache cant eat all of those in a week.
Anyway, I think your phone has bugs. it seems that the APAC firmware has bugs. I'm on Euro version.

  • Navigator 6 or Route 66 for my N73?

    Hello everyone,
I am going on a few bicycle trips soon, and wanted to have something to stop me getting lost.
    I have an N73 and ld-3W GPS unit, & 1GB mini-SD.
So, my question is, which is the better software, Route 66 Mobile 7 Europe, or Tom Tom Navigator 6, and why?
It appears that you can pre-determine your route with both, which is nice.
Also, what is the approximate running time of the N73 while running navigation?
Also I hear Mobile 8 will be out soon, is that worth waiting for?
    Thanks

    Hi sweetride01
Unfortunately not knowing from which region you are posting, it is more difficult to advise you which application best meets your criteria. If you were in the UK I would also suggest having a look at ViewRanger trail mapping software, based on Ordnance Survey mapping, for which a free trial is available.

  • Least cost routing using GMS Gateway

    Hi All,
We have a GSM devices providing least cost routing on our PBX. We’re looking to fully migrate our phone system to Lync 2013 and I’m interested to know if there are any supported (single line) GSM Gateways.
I’m looking to use it connected to our Lync server with no PBX. (Direct SIP)
We only have a small number of users so routing all mobile calls out over the GSM gateway with a single line.
    Many thanks
    James

I've heard some rumbling of AudioCodes having something
http://www.audiocodes.com/solutions/fmc but I haven't messed with it and it looks like the devices would be overkill for you.
For Lync 2013, there are a small number of vendors and devices supported:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/gg131938.aspx so I'd suggest reaching out.
If there is nothing "supported" that doesn't mean there's not something that will work.  If it needs to be supported, you might have to doublehop between Lync and a supported device and the supported device and the GSM device.
My only suggestion unless someone chimes in with something more would be to get a supported device with analog ports such as an AudioCodes Mediant, and plug GSM to analog (FXS) devices in the ports.
