E71x date/time keeps resetting

I have a E71x that is not quite 2 years old, and lately I have noticed a problem, or more of an inconvenience.
Every night, I turn the phone off and plug it in to the charger.
Yesterday and today (Fri,Sat) when I turn the phone on, I have to reset the Date and the Time.
Could this be a battery issue (going bad) or more of a hardware issue?
Thanks,
Jim

If it happens everytime time then it is more than likely due to a faulty auxilliary battery(internal battery). You can get the auxilliary battery replaced at any Nokia Care Point.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 2nd Gen iTouch Date/Time Randomly reseting?

Using 2.2 firmware with 32GB iTouch the system date and time get set to some random new date time from past.
    1) So far the random date-time has always been in the past.
    2) Somehow related to iTouch being connected to PC.
    3) Might be related to Sync [but not always].
    4) Might be related to Vista going into sleep mode while iTouch is connected.
    Any fixes or work-arounds?

I have the exact same problem and I have narrowed it down to the corruption occurring after my PC goes into sleep mode. I get the same failure on my two machines. One is a desktop running Vista and the other is a Thinkpad running Windows XP. I also discovered that I did not have a problem using my laptop to charge my ITouch until I loaded it with ITunes. I deliberately put it into sleep mode before loading ITunes and it worked fine when it came out of sleep mode. I then loaded it with ITunes today to see what would happen and sure enough the clock and time got reset to a random date and time once it came out of sleep mode. I have had this problem with the 2.1 and the 2.2 level of code on the ITouch with my Vista machine and it was only today that I tried my experiment with my laptop machine. I hope that Apple can come up with a fix soon, as this problem is very annoying, since I cannot leave my Itouch connected for any length of time without the clock going bonkers.

  • IPhone Date & Time keeps changing to "Cupertino"  time zone

    Hi
Every time i change my Time Zone in Settings>General>Date & Time to "London,United Kingdom" it correctly changes to "London" but if i exit Settings and navigate back to Time Zone settings it has changed to "Cupertino".
This effects World Clocks and other apps which is most annoying.
I have firmware 2.0(5A345) installed on the iPhone. Is there a way to upgrade this? Will i lose all my current data if i do a firmware upgrade? Will it even fix the issue?
Please help, there are currently 2 options I have. Find a fix or move to Cupertino so that my iPhone displays the correct time.
Is there a less drastic option?
    Thanks in advance!

If i do that it states that i am running the current version. Maybe because it is a revision and not a proper update.
My twin brother also has the the version that you have (54347).
Apparently it updates the firmware when you do a "Restore" through itunes but that will wipe the phone clean of everything. I don't mind doing this as long as i can transfer my backed-up content but if i do a "Restore from backup" to tranfer all my settings etc i have a feeling it will revert it back to the firmware that the iphone was running when it was backed up. Hope that makes sense!
    Thanks

  • Scheduled Tasks Time Keep Resetting / Changing

I have 77 Macs in 3 labs (iMacs, G4s and G5s) all running OS 10.3.9 and ARD Client 2.2. I have an Admin ARD 2.2 iMac with 64 preset scheduled tasks ranging from log off, shut down, empty trash and send note running as early as 7:50am to as late as 11:00pm through out the week. Now the problem.... every now and then, some 1/3 to 1/2 of my tasks are reset to another time (i.e. this morning, 30 tasks went from whatever they were to now 7:00am). There is no outside access from campus (closed network) and I am the first one in in the mornings. I have taken a screen shot and can email it out. A major bug in ARD???????? Can anyone please assist? Thank you.
    Mike

Hi Don Seher1 - I've been having the same problem as many other posters re ARD saved tasks losing timing prefs after quit or shutdown. I read your message and immediately updated Apple Java 2 SE 5.0R3 as indicated. However, this does not appear to have made any change to the problems I'm experiencing with ARD. Do you have any further insights that might help ?
I'm trying to use ARD to perform a daily shutdown of ten computers on an airport extreme network in a museum in a remote part of western australia. All machines are running 10.4.3; ARD is 2.2 on all; all are brand new Macs. The control iMac is running 24/7 which is no good in the long term.
My problem I know - but your message of beating this ridiculous shortcoming in the software was tantalising!

  • IPhone upgrade to 3.1.2. resets date time - no daylight saving

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to the new OS: 3.1.2 recently. I noticed the date & time were reset to some time way in the past so I reset them to the current date & time. I notice now there's no way in the Settings | General |Date & Time to automatically have the date & time synced with your PC and the iPhone doesn't take allowance of daylight saving time - I added London as a city for keeping track of my time and the Clock shows it as 10 hours behind Sydney time rather than 11, which would be the case if Sydney was set at daylight saving time.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my iPhone to recognise daylight saving time again? I can't see anywhere on the iPhone or iTunes to do it, I've tried resetting my iPhone. Nothing is working.

I don't see a DST option either. I assume that Set Date & Time automatically did set from the phone network and that would include DST corrections. Mine is correct now and we are on DST here. Manual says:
"Set whether iPhone updates the date and time automatically: Choose General > Date & Time and turn Set Automatically on or off.
If iPhone is set to update the time automatically, it gets the correct time over the cellular network, and updates it for the time zone you’re in.
Some carriers don’t support network time in all locations. If you’re traveling, iPhone may not be able to automatically set the local time."

  • Date & Time Set Before 2001

I am in the process of streamlining my Powerbook G4 laptop.
I have had some problems and have overcome those issues save one.
Whenever I turn on the computer the date and time option tells me that they are set before 2001.
December 31, 1969 to be exact.
Any ideas as to how I can get this back and on time if you will?
    Thanks

Hi, a. When the date and time revert to that default setting, it's an indication that your Powerbook's internal backup battery is dead. That can only happen if the backup battery is defective or the Powerbook is deprived of all power — AC and main battery — for longer than about ten minutes.
Remove the main battery and leave the Powerbook connected to AC power for five or six hours to recharge the backup battery. Put the main battery back in, start the machine, and disconnect the AC adapter. Set the date and time correctly, and use the computer until the main battery is drained and the machine goes to sleep. At this stage, the main battery should still have enough charge left in it to maintain the date and time for at least 24 hours, without the backup battery coming into play for that purpose. Leave the AC adapter disconnnected and let the Powerbook sleep overnight, or for at least 8 hours. If after that time the Powerbook is not sleeping, but has shut down entirely, your main battery needs to be replaced: it isn't reliable and isn't holding much of a charge at all. In that case, your backup battery will also have been drained, and your date and time will have been reset to the default date in 1969.
If your main battery gives you less than about half an hour of working time on a full charge, or if it gives you as much as an hour, but doesn't provide accurate or dependable readouts of its current condition in the menu bar, then you've probably been aware for a while that you need to replace it. If that's the case, think of your date and time resetting as a further gentle nudge to get cracking and replace the battery.
In the unlikely but possible circumstance that your main battery is completely dead or you don't have one at all, then your backup battery will drain and your date & time will reset in about ten minutes every time the AC adapter is disconnected, or there's a power outage, or the AC adapter shuts down due to noise in your AC line. In that case, get yourself a main battery and your date & time will be reliably maintained.

  • PowerPC G5 boots sporadically & doesn't remember date & time

I have an old Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 (aluminum tower). When it boots up, I get a message that the Date & Time are no longer correct. I go into date and time settings and reset them, however when I shot down and reboot later, the time has been reset to June 1969 or some similar date. Also, when the computer shuts down, it cannot be rebooted immediately. If I try to reboot it, I hear the fans start up and drives start spinning, but then they all seem to power down (a red light can still be visible inside. If I shut it down and wait 15 minutes, it will boot up fine, however the date/time has reset to 1969.
I have done the obvious things like replacing the clock battery and resetting the pram and smu, but still no joy. I suspect a hardware fault of some kind, but don't know what to try next. Any suggestions? It is such a beautiful machine, I hate to scrap it.

I have just gone through a range of startup issues and have found the start-up problems were created by an unsuitable cable.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/message/18848177#18848177
First thoughs were PRAM, cudo button and battery age. But the problem was a cable!
If you have a printer and other peripherals attached, try an isolation test. Boot up without any cables connected and see if the computer behaves. If it does, add cables one at a time until you identify the faulty one.

  • IPhone 4S time and date keeps resetting, despite being set to automatically do so.

After having recently upgraded my iOS to 7.0.4, my Verizon iPhone 4S has started to re-set the time and date every now and then at random. It does this, despite me having my Settings set to automatically set the date and time based on my location. I have called Verizon about this and all they had me do was to reset my network connections and reset my roaming capabilities...and despite me doing that this morning, the time re-set itself again this afternoon. I have found the only solution has been for me to power off my phone completely and then once on again, set the phone either into Airplane mode for a second - or to just wait until the Verizon signal switches the phone back to being the correct time and date on its own. I have also found that these issues have started to affect my ability to send and receive iMessages, as well. For some reason, when the date/time re-sets, the iMessage option becomes un-selected and I have to manually go back and turn that functionality back on. Anyone else having these same issues? It's incredibly frustrating and I'm not sure what else I can do save for constantly hard, re-starting my iPhone everytime I notice the time and date is out of whack. Also it's hard for me to tell if this is an Apple hardware issue/bug that just needs to be fixed - or something to do with Verizon. Any tips/info would be appreciated.

Try setting your time to manual. This way, the iPhone is the one controlling the time. As you correctly understand, when it is on auto, it is controlled by Verizon and their individual towers. If after setting the time to manual it works, then I would say it isn't a phone issue, but a Verizon one. Do you frequent the same area when this occurs? It could very well be an issue with a particular tower in your area and Verizon would need to check that. If the time goes off again while on manual, then it could be the phone. User troubleshooting is restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Try each in order until the problem is fixed. If it cannot be, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple to have the phone looked at for hardware issues.

  • Date and time keeps going missing!

Hi everybody, my date and time keeps going missing from the top bar every time I turn on my mac - sometimes other things go missing, like the airport status.
It used to happen just once a fortnight but after I installed the latest security update, it seems to be happening every time. Does anybody have a reason/fix? Would be much appreciated. Thankyou!

Hi appleoclock, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Not sure this works since that Qursical update, but the cure for that used to be...
    Apple Menu Bar Icons Gone
You've probably got a couple of corrupt preference files.
    In "/Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences", delete com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
In "/Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/ByHost", delete com.apple.systemuiserver.xxx.plist where 'xxx' is a 12 digit (hexadecimal) numeric string.
This will reset your Menu Bar to the default, you'll need to go through System Preferences to reset the ones you need. (If they are already checked, uncheck them first and then recheck them).

  • After system date/time reset macbook pro can't open any programs and access system preferences

    Hi,
Booted my macbook pro 2009 and the time was reset to 2001, a prompt asked me to change settings or else the computer might function erratically. So i changed the date and time settings as suggested but then suddenly it stopped working. I restarted the computer but i could no longer open any programs. My dock was gone, the screen background was changed back to the original and i couldn't access the system preferences. Every time i click on the apple icon the screen just refereshes and that's it.
My laptop hasn't been turned off for the last 48 hrs before this happened.  i was working and uploading huge files to dropbox and since my internet connection was really slow, i had to keep it on so it would upload continously. Was thinking this might have caused some malfunction.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue?

You need to charge the computer, perhaps the battery went dead.
Do a SMC and PRAM reset, see if that assists.
Also hold the shift key after that upon boot, that will fix things
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3046
If you get into your account, see if system preferences opens and try to set the time and date, align with Apple's servers, reset the screen saver and desktop picture see if it holds upon a reboot
If not your going to have to delete your
    com.systempreferences.plist
    file in your
    "User"/Library/Preference folder
Reboot the machine and then open System Preferences and reset your preferences.
Now in 10.6, the "User"/Library/Preference folder is not hidden
In 10.7 the "Users"/Library/Preferences folder IS hidden
so in 10.7 you need to use the Finder > Go To Folder and type
    /Library/Preferences
    and click OK
Then scoll down to the  file above, there will be two of them perhaps, one is a lock file the other one you can Trash, so do that and reboot.

  • Date/time resets when battery runs out on E51

Any ideeas how to solve the problem?

There is a little auxilliary in the phone. This is the battery that keeps the clock going when the main battery is removed or flat.
Usually the date/time resets when there is a fault with this auxilliary battery. You can get it replaced at your nearest Nokia Care Point.

  • HT201412 iPhone 3g Needs Date & Time Reset on Startup if Battery is Allowed to Drain | Cause? Fix?

    Hi,
There is an issue with my iPhone 3g.  When the battery drains completely, after recharging and booting up, the date and time revert to December 31st 1999, wrong hour, etc.  The battery holds a solid charge and was recently replaced.  However, the time reset issue was present even before battery replacement.
Does this phone model have an internal button cell battery that keeps time, as in some digital cameras?
Am wondering if this normal or if a malfunction, what is the the cause?  Everything else works as expected.
The phone is running iOS 4.2.1, jailbroken and unlocked, modem firmware 06.15.00.  Unsure but probably UltraSnow was used to unlock it since GPS is no longer functional.
I have a 3gs (also jailbroken and unlocked) that does not have this date/time reset issue.
Please share known solutions.  Any help is much appreciated, thank you for your time.

  • How to keep date time line in  collected alert message in linux platform

    Hi Friends,
In linux server for 11g oracle. how do I keep date time line for each error message?
    example as
    cat alert_test.log | grep 'ORA'
    grep 'ORA' alert_test.log
    I like output as
    Mon Aug 20 01:54:29 2012
    ORA-01560 caused by SQL...........
I know we can use diag... But I want to some linux command for my debug.
    Thanks
    newdba

Another option is to make your alert log accessible as an external table.
    Demo here:
    http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/externaltab.html
Find "alert log" on the page. Add a numeric column to the table and create a sequence and you can put in a surrogate row number that will allow you to pull sections using LEAD and LAG as you please.
