At home, I use my WiFi connection but when I leave it's range I have trouble using 3G connection. Also when at a location which has only password protected WiFi, I cannot use the MediaNet (3G ?) connection.
Could I tell the phone to ignore all WiFi?

Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54...
Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54G. Used easylink to read existing router BEFSR41 which works great to westell modem provided by Verizon. When connect new router Easylink configures WRT54G but when trying to connect to internet...fails. All lites indicate good. Not using wireless device yet, just the wired ethernet. Router set up as DHCP.
I keep going back to old router and works great every time. Help! Thanks for response, however I tried setting unit to 192.168.2.1 (leaving DHCP) to no avail. I put my old unit (BEFSR41) back in and I'm back up. I need to sit back and decide which way to go on this. Perhaps it's defective and I should return it.

Trouble accessing internet form my iMac
Hi, having trouble with accessing internet form my iMac. Both Wi-Fi and Ethernet ports show up and running properly, the ISP checked the gear and it's all up, however, I can't get out on the internet.
I ran network diagnostics sveeral times, it allways gets to the point ISP is still green and then fails at internet access...
Sporadically it allows a page or 2 and then it goes back into "freeze" ...
Tips, anyone ?
Many thanksSame Assist Me button where Diagnosics is - have you tried using Setup Assistant?

VM cannot access Internet when host is connected to VPN
Hello everyone,
I have a little problem with my Hyper-V network. I use internal switch (external seems to have problems when I want to access the host via RDP and host has Wifi only).
Now attached is my configuration as a wonderful picture. ;) My problem is this: I have a internal switch in Hyper-V which is used by the VMs. They can access the Internet because the host WiFi Adapter has Internet Sharing enabled. However, when I connect
the host to the VPN, the VMs cannot access the internet anymore. I know it is not possible to share the VPN-Connection itself, but without any Internet I cannot connect the VMs to the VPN at all. So is there any way to connect the host to VPN and also the
VMs?
Thanks! :)
Best,
ChrisHi CBuntrock,
Please try the following setps :
Open network connection --> right click the vpn connection --> properties --> click tab Networking --> click the proper internet protocol version --> properties --> advanced --> tab ipsettings --> uncheck "use defult gateway
on remote network " --> ok
Please try to access internet again from your VMs .
Best Regards
Elton Ji

I have my router, modem, and computer all set up correctly. I can access the internet in this setup but with only the computer that is connected with the ethernet cord to the router. Yet, my WRT54G router can't connect to the internet in the Linksys easy setup nor through the http:192.168.1.1 method.
When I changed the internet connection type to PPPoE, my modem was unable to access the internet. I also changed the IP to 192.168.2.1 but that didn't help. I have performed several power cycles. I have upgraded the firmware.
I changed the internet connection type back to DHCP, so I am able to come on this website, but I can't set up the wireless since the router says it can't connect to the internet. Please help!Start it from scratch...Reset your router and re-configure it...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page.

Domain Joined Workstations Can't Access Internet When Server is Off
I have two Windows 7 Ultimate workstations joined to a server running Server 2012 R2 Foundation. Whenever the Server is powered off the workstations can't access the internet via a web browser from neither a domain account nor a local
account, even though the network icon in the system tray indicates "Internet Access".
Is this a normal situation, or am I missing some settings? This is a big problem because there are times when the server will be off, but the workstations still need to be able to work in a web browser.
I'd be very grateful for a solution to this problem.
Capt. DinosaurHi again SenneV, and thanks for the fast response; I wish the Dell community would get back even half that quickly.
"No i mean that after a while, the nla status icon on system tray will no longer state there is internet acces while there isn’t."
I was afraid that's what you meant, but I wanted to find out for sure.
"I would recommend doublechecking the bios and management ui for power options as I cannot imagine a server that would not be configurable to boot after power loss."
I couldn't imagine that either, but I've checked several time, and unless the setting is in Aramaic or mentioned in the Rosetta Stone, I couldn't find a setting for that. There is a setting for restarting after a crash,
but not just for a return after a power failure. I have the server on a battery backup so that it doesn't crash when a power failure occurs, but I can't even coax the server to restart after power is restored.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge T110 II, and it has BMC in the BIOS in which I've made all the necessary settings. Unfortunately BMC doesn't have a web GUI like IDRAC, and only (supposedly) responds to IPMI. However, I've not been able to get
that to work either. I've downloaded Intel's "ipmiutil" and installed it on one of the workstations and the server, but I can't get the utilities to work. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
I've posted questions on the Dell Community, but as yet (after almost a week) not a peep out of anyone there. I guess I'll have to contact Dell Tech Support.
Anyhoo, thank you for your help. I do appreciate it.
P. S. I tried logging into the workstations via LogMeIn while the server was shut down, and guess What! It worked. I was able to access both workstations even though the server wasn't running. Now, if I can just get IPMI/BMC to work,
my problem w/be solved.

Internet service through hughes net trouble accessing internet since upgraded McAfee software
08.04.2015 To whom it may concern: I originally had Hughes install their service in April 2014 shorty after I purchased my new HP computer with operating system windows #7 with service pack #1 and McAfee Anti-virus & firewalls software unlimited protection already installed on my computer. I had no trouble in the year 2014, but in late part of June 2015 after updating McAfee software I started to have problems connecting to the internet. I went so far to have McAfee re-install their software & check the IP addresses on the firewalls for internet connections - - COULD THIS BE THE PROBLEM? I have checked Hughes system status and I have noticed a continue problem on the status reading of TuboPage reading status has being showed as "IDLE" instead of "UP". Per Hughes the TuboPage feature provides acceleration for web browsing. Acceleration is achieved - - per Hughes - - by the terminal establishing connections to one or more TuboPage servers. Now, may I also mention when I go to the TOOLS nab then to INTERNET OPTION then to CONNECTION nab then to SETUP - - it shows I'm connected to the internet, but when I press the button "BROWSE THE INTERNET NOW" - - nothing happens - - WHY IS THIS? Thornton1960
I am having that same problem. Used to connect up with my home's wireles network (Linksys wireless cable router, Toshiba cable modem). The lapotops are working wiressles, but the Touch doesn't seem to be able to connect either to my wireless network or to a neighbor''s unsecured network that I used to be able to log onto.
I did travel and used the Touch to connect to other wireless networks. Since returning, nothing. I have reset all settings, reset network settings, restored to factory settings... nothing seems to help, still hangs up on the "Choose a network". I was hoping that restoring to the factory settings would work... it even prompted me for the WEP key, but still just hung there.
Thoughts? Do I need to go to the Apple STore? -
Ipod seems to access internet when no wi-fi is avalible
So ive noticed some wierd occurrences with my ipod touch. The first being when i was looking through my photos. I noticed that some of these photos had been geotagged in locations where i was sure that i had no wifi access. To make sure the next time i was at that location i made sure to check if there were any unprotected wifi networks. There weren't
The next strange thing to happen was while sitting in a moving car. I got a notification for my AIM application, with a message that my friend had sent me. I knew there was no possible know wifi network in the area because 1.) this was the first time i had been in that area. and 2.) I was in a moving car.
To summarizes what im asking is. are certain applications able to access protected to retrieve necessary informationI'm wondering if you got a very weak signal and didn't even notice it. In the car you could have quickly driven by an access point and not known it.
Another possibility is that you were near someone with a phone with hotspot activated or mifi device which had an open/unprotected network that the touch latched onto. -
Unable to access internet when static IP address is configured
Hi
I am facing the problem for not getting the internet in AD Server(DC) if configured with static IP address. If we set DHCP it will connect to internet. When I check the IPCONFIG on DHCP settings its showing the external address of the ISP router. Not the
firewall. Suspect there must be a foul play with DNS. Appreceiate your prompt response.
Thanks
MichaelHi
First, Disable ipv6. then run the netsh command to reset IP stuff. Just a warning though,
I think this will only apply to this problem if you are using static IPs.
Here is the netsh comman:
netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx
ip address subnet mask gateway

Trouble accessing internet with Playstation portable
I have been getting a "key information exchange timed out" error when testing the connection. I suspect the problem is either firmware related or possibly that the PSP is not 802.11g compatible and needs 802.11b. The router literature says it supports both g and b, but do I need to switch it to b to test this out? Additionally, I have never updated any firmware before. I began downloading a .bin file from this website for a firmware update but canceled it for the time being since I don't know what to do with it. Can anyone give me some direction? Thanks
Try to change wireless network mode to B only if that is the case. To do this Connect computer directly to router on port 1
Login to router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser's address bar, use password as admin and no user name
Goto wireless tab, and change wireless network mode to B only, and save settings.
Reboot the router.
To update firmware:
Download it from www.linksys.com/download
Login to router's setup
Goto administartion tab, under that goto firmware upgrade
Browse for firmware file and click on update
Reboot router after that -
This is probably a basic question but I purchased the airport extreme base station. Made the basic connections installed the software and nothing. Is this an ISP problem or an apple configuration problem? Help, what am I doing wrong?
hi there-
in system preferences > network > network port
configurations is airport enabled and at the top of
the list? have you disabled the other ports? when
you click on the aiport menu in the menu bar does it
say airport is on, and can you see your network
there, and are you able to join your network? does
airport show a strong signal? one thing you can try
doing is writing down your network settings and then
trashing the /library/preferences/systemconfiguration
folder. then restart the computer and reconfigure
the network in a new location. let me know how it's
going.
Thanks for your response. Yes the Airport is enabled..Internal modem is not set up. Weak signal. I will try the reconfiguration and get back to you. Again, thanks -
I am unable to access internet when server app is running on mac mini
I recently installed the server app on a mac mini. With the app open, I am unable to connect to web pages through the mac mini. I do not have this connection problem with the server app closed. While I can see my IP address I am also not able to connect to the server. Would love some advice how what I am doign wrong with the setup.
My ISP is a DSL through century link, the mac mini is hooked to a cisco E4200 v2 wireless router. You'll need to go through the configuration of the server, sounds like something is off.
Have a look at this site http://www.mountainlionserver.com as well as the Apple support articles. -
I Can't access Internet outside of my house??
As the title says, I am having trouble accessing Internet outside of the house on my Ipod and Laptop. Both work great in the house, I have signed up to BTFON as I have the unlimited broadband package and have free access to btfon and bt openzone. I just cant get them up and running as I would mostly use Internet on my ipod when out and about. I can access internet via BTFON while in my house?? cant access internet with bt openzone anywhere??
How do I set up my laptop/ipod to gain access to Internet when out??
Thanks for you time
JohnYou need to log into FON or Openzone using your bt email address and its password to gain access

Problem accessing internet using time capsule after update to mountain lion
After updating my macbook air to moutain lion i am having some trouble accessing internet.
Evertytime i re-start my mac or airport utility i am able to access internet properly. After sometime when i access some particular sites, internet access goes down and i need to restart time capsule to access internet again.
Even though in airport utility internet is marked as disconnected, time capsule's indicator is still glowing green colour.
I tried deleting the com.apple.timemachine.plist file from /Library/Preferences/, but still no luck.
Is anybody else also facing the same problem? How can i resolve this problem? Is the time capsule the only router in the network?
Try setting the lease time in the TC to very short value.. 20min or even less, 10min. It will not add signficant network traffic but might keep the Air updated to the TC.
I would also use SMB compatible name for the TC as well as wireless.. ie short, no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
Set a different name for 5ghz so it cannot swap around.
And lock the wireless channels. Try each channel in turn, to see if any are better.
