E72 'Add to my Nokia Messaging account' VS Create ...

Hi,
When adding an email account such as GMAIL my Nokia E72 gives me 2 options:
Add to my Nokia Messaging account
Create a separate mailbox that uses manual delivery
Again, this is an UI improvement: There is no contextual help or information regarding both options...
What are the pros and cons of using either options? Also, Vodafone proposer a similar application to connect to my mail accounts, do you know if it is any better?
Thanks,
Yvsn

There is no cost for using Nokia Messaging. It does say that it is a trial version but unofficially it appears it will be a never ending trial, and anyway you won't suddenly get charged for using it.
You can use NM and Exchange and any other email clients at the same time although NM may say you already have software to receive mail but just select yes and it will carry on with the set up. You can set it to autostart or manual. I use 'Email on 3' push software but have identical accounts set up in NM which I can manually start and it will download the same emails - I use it if I need or want to see the email using html which '3' doesn't at the moment.

how to add debit card to iTunes account or create account without credit card?

Debit cards are no longer accepted in the iTunes Store, it seems. The current valid payment methods are listed here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5552
Using a debit card in any online service where it stores your card is a bad idea in any case since if someone gains access to your account in the service, they can quickly drain your bank account. Credit cards limit your liability, as do prepaid iTunes cards.

  • Nokia Messaging 1.2.2 has been released!

A new Nokia Messaging release (version 1.2.2) became available on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010.  Please go to http://email.nokia.com on your device to download the latest version of the client.  Note, if you are using the multiprotocol (built-in) client, no update is needed (E52, E55, E72, E75, 6710, 6730, N86 8MP).
Here are the highlights of this release:
    Automatic consolidation of multiple accounts:
Nokia Messaging will automatically consolidate accounts when the user adds an email address that belongs to another Nokia Messaging account. In previous releases, the user would be rejected when adding a new email address to the Nokia Messaging account during setup. Now, the user may continue to setup their account and the new email address will be added to the account being configured.
    Password handling simplification:
This release of Nokia Messaging now always aligns the Nokia Messaging password with the Email Service Provider (ESP) password. Users can now simply enter either their Nokia Messaging password or their current ESP password during authentication. If the authentication succeeds and their Nokia Messaging password is different from the ESP password, the account will be updated and the current ESP password will become the Nokia Messaging account password.  If users forget the ESP password, they must go to the ESP to retrieve it. As such, the Nokia Messaging web site (email.nokia.com) no longer includes a Forgot Password function.
    On-device email retention:
The device now retains 30 days of emails or up to 100 emails (whichever comes first). Also, the Sent Items and Draft folders as well as the subfolders retain 30 days of emails or up to 50 emails (whichever comes first).
    Destination feature available on the Nokia S60 5.0 touch devices (X6, N97, N97 mini, 5800, 5530 and 5230):
Nokia Messaging can now automatically switch to WiFi internet access when it is available. Using the device’s Destinations feature, users simply add their favorite WiFi access points to the Internet Destination (or any other Destination that they configure), and Nokia Messaging will automatically switch to it when it is available. Initial setup must still be done with a valid network SIM in the device so that Nokia Messaging can validate the user’s service eligibility. With the new Tools menu item Access point, users can define a different destination to be used or even specify a fixed APN for special cases when a Destination is not appropriate.

    Dear Nokia people,
I'm new to S60. I bought last week an XM 5800. Wich I'm liking pretty much. However, I think there is room for improvement in email handling. I'm just saying this as a user who knows things could be better.
Here's my case. I want to be able to view my gmail from my cell phone automatically. Wich sounds simple if it can be checked manually whenever I want (making that process automatic). But it isn't.
    I've tried two methods:
    1) Messaging
This creates an account and everything works great if you do it manually. When I try to set it up to get my mail I can either do one of two things under "Automatic Retrieval":
E-mail notifications, wich I'm assuming uses the IDLE funcionality. I've tried this option with both possibilities, "Auto-update" or "Only in home network". This only works when I have that inbox connected wich is a good idea since it's generating traffic (costly) and using connection (worse battery life). Maybe there could be an option, if a user wanted it, to keep the connection opened even if the program gets closed, wich would make good use of IDLE and not being annoyed by the warning about exiting the app and closing connection.
E-mail retrieval, this function seems to work, for about 1500 messages, then the phone becomes reaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow. This function should have some more options like retrieving only a certain number of mails AND only that certain number. What I'm saying here is that the phone should only handle for instance the last 50 mails and drop the rest, so if I have 50 mails and a new one arrives, the last one doesn't appear anymore (on the server yes, on the phone no). This would make the application run really smoothly and the phone would not freeze.
Even if this idea doesn't get implemented, at least make the option of Number of mails to be retrieved configurable under this mode, wich under this mode is ALL.
    2) MfE
With MfE, I'm able to sync my calendar, nice. And, even if on the google sync site it says the don't suppor the email sync, it works with my mail. So I set up MfE to every 15 minutes to get my mail. This is the option I'm using right now because I don't have to be constantly updating my inbox or leave the connection opened.
The catch is that for this method to work, you have to forget about dividing mails into different carpets with filters in Gmail, I had to eliminate the "skip inbox" setting in the filters that worked with the mail I wanted to receive on my XM 5800. But I guess is a good solution until I find another.
So, in conclusion. It would be very nice to be able to set an IMAP account, like gmail to automatically (every certain amount of time) retrieve a certain number of mails and to keep the inbox with that quantity. Or, at least be able to configure how many mails the inbox should retrieve.
I hope this helps. If this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize and please direct me to where this should go.
    Cheers from Chile

  • How (and where) can I create a new Nokia Messaging...

    Hi,
I just got a new E7 which I am currently pretty happy with, however when I go to email.nokia.com I only see a log-in form for the existing customers. Where can new users register and how can I do it? I can see that there is a Nokia Mail by Yahoo, but cannot find anything useful about push-mail there.
(Added later)I have successfully added a Google mail as a push mail to my phone and it IS WORKING,but I would like to add also our mail server but I cannot (I get a message that the password is wrong however it isn't since I can add the mailbox as POP3). After reading a lot of tutorials I SHOULD be able to log in to email.nokia.com with the first push-mail login credentials (in my case of google mail), however I get an error when trying to do so.
    TIA,
    Matej
    Solved!

    Hi justme123,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
Nokia Messaging account should be automatically created when you add a new mailbox to your email client.  All account management and configuration are handled within the Nokia Messaging clients on the Nokia device. If you want to have Nokia Mail account, please see here.
To set up Hotmail or Gmail in Exchange ActiveSync, perform the following steps:
Go to the Mail application and select New mailbox.
    Preparing for setup is displayed.
    Select Exchange ActiveSync.
Enter your email address, password, username and domain.
    Connecting server is displayed.
Enter the server name when requested.
For Gmail Setup use the following values:
User Name: full email address (for example [email protected])
    Domain: google
    Mail for Exchange server: m.google.com
    Hope this helps,
    Puigchild

  • Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Cannot receive mail in nokia messaging for Nokia ...

cannot received mail in nokia messaging in all my account i can send mail but cannot  received mails in my nokia e72.

    Hi barara,
Welcome to the Nokia forum and thank you for your post.
Please go to your email settings in your phone and make sure that the POP3 settings are configured correctly. Use a search engine to find the correct configuration for your email server.
If the email configuration is correct and you're unable to receive emails, please contact your local Care line and ask them to check your Nokia Messaging account.
Every email account you set up on your phone is linked to your own Nokia Messaging account. Your Care line will be able to check the account and assist you with any issues you're having in case the above hasn't resolved the problem. All you need is your IMEI, which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone.
Hope this helps, please keep me updated on your progress.

  • Nokia Messaging stoped

    Hi,
Since last three days Nokia messaging on my E72 stoped synchronize my emails on all accounts. Since this time I did not make any changes in my phone or my Nokia Messaging Account.
    Whats happened??

    Hi MANISUB1,
    Welcome to our Nokia forum.
Please contact your local Careline to fix this issue. They'll be able to reset your Nokia Messaging account for you and reset the password so that you can access it.
All you need is the email address you have set up via Nokia Messaging, or your IMEI number which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone. I'd advise having both at hand when you call so that it can be fixed as quickly as possible.
After the reset you'll be able to access your Nokia Messaging account and the email accounts you have set up within the account on your E71.
You can find the number for your local Careline by visiting your local Nokia web page and clicking on the Support tab.

  • Nokia Messaging Accessing CompuServe Email

I've added a few email addresses to my Nokia Messaging account with no problem
including Gmail, AOL & Yahoo mail accounts.
However, when I try to add my CompuServe email address using domain Compuserve.com
I get an error, "Unable to connect to the server. Please try again later".
It also doesn't give me an opportunity to set specific parameters for the Incoming & Outgoing server as
    another email address did.
Over the summer AOL converted CompuServe Classic email addresses to their AOL email system which
allows access with POP3 or IMAP. I have been able to access my CompuServe email via POP3 with
several email clients with no problem.
Has anyone tried to been able to set-up a CompuServe email address with Nokia Messaging?
If you have I would appreciate hearing about your experience.
    Mark

did you ever figure this out? This is a really annoying issue and you'd figure you could delete them.

  • What is Nokia Messaging?

Apologies for this most simple question but I am new to Nokia and new to NM. (I have an E55 but I assume that this applies to any device that uses NM.)
What is the difference beween setting up a connection to my POP3 mail account manually on the phone, and setting it up on Nokia Messaging? I realise that if I want to have messages delivered to my phone I need to use NM, but are there other differences?

    Hi,
    Official FAQ:
    http://email.nokia.com/account/faq.action
Nokia Messaging makes email easy and mobilizes
consumer email across a range of Nokia S60 devices. Nokia Messaging
enables users to quickly set up, access, and use their email on their
Nokia devices through a service that is optimized for mobile email.
Automatic delivery of email using the IMAP idle protocol
Support for Yahoo! Mail, Google Mail, Windows Live Hotmail, Ovi Mail, and POP/IMAP email accounts
Support for Google Apps, Yahoo! Small Business, and other vanity domain email accounts
Support for up to 10 email accounts
    Support for HTML email
Available on 10+ Nokia S60 devices and localized in 20+ languages
Support for subfolders in IMAP email accounts
Easy email setup using only an email address and password for almost all ISPs
    Efficient data usage
Intuitive client interface navigation built around top mobile email functions
So the basic difference is that you'll get push email functionality to your existing email account. And you add multiple email accounts to your nokia messaging account and then you'll get the latest emails from all added accounts to your phone.

  • How can I delete my messaging account?

My Messaging was working (on N97 mini, Orange in the UK) until the summer, when my account was deactivated while the transitioned to a new arrangement between Nokia and Orange.
I would like to start afresh, but my account is still "deactivated". I've tried calling both Orange and Nokia, but they both blame each other. I've tried reinstalling the software, but it doesn't get me push email messaging like ai used to have. I've tried creating a new account, but it won't let me.
Is it possible to delete my account on Nokia messaging?

    VinnyRusso
Have a look at this post, it explains how to deactivate your Nokia Messaging account.
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=17173
Alternatively log onto http://email.nokia.com via a PC - (your log on details are your email address and password you first used to create the account)
    Under "My subscription" section
    Select "cancel" account
    Log out
You should then be able to create a new account.....

  • [E71-1] Nokia messaging not sync even after firmwa...

    Hi all,
For the past 3 months, my Nokia messaging is not SYNC automatically again from my Nokia E71-1.
Yesterday I tried to firmware upgrade my E71-1 (to latest firmware ver 410.21.010); and install Nokia Messaging from OVI store.
And then after 1st sync, all my emails coming back up (which is great); but then I have to sync manually to get the latest email.
Currently I have 5 emails account inside my Nokia messaging account (they are 2xGmail, Yahoo and other 2 from my local ISP).
Plan: Nokia Messaging - operator subscriber
    Subscription status Active
    My server settings:
    - Server name: netac5.vie.hosting.no... (unable to read the rest text)
    - Send and Receive: Soonest (I've changed to "every 15 minutes"; still the email not sync'ed automatically)
Is this issue because I have 5 email accounts checked by my Nokia Messaging?
    Thanks

I found a solution that works for my E71-1 (client 9.7.0.2). It's quite simple: In the Option menu of your Nokai email application - that is where you can see the buttons for all email accounts plus the SYNC button etc. - you should see an 'go online' or 'go offline' command (in German 'online gehen' or 'offline gehe'. After toggling this command from 'go online' to 'go offline' which will turn you on line, you can see the sync icon in the header line to go PERMANENTLY to sync status. It will sync every minute or so depending on your settings.
I can't believe it, that this is the solution after all the time I spent looking for it.

  • Nokia Messaging - N97

I recently received the below email from Nokia Messaging.  My email has now stopped working on my phone and i am unable to send or receive.  I have not changed my password with hotmail (email provider).  The server is fine as i am able to get my emails on any PC.  I have not changed any settings on my nokia account.
I am at a loss at what i can do to sort this issue out.  It was all working fine and i cant see a reason for it to stop.
I have reinstalled the application to my phone, just to rule out any software glitches.
    HELP!!
    Dear Nokia Messaging customer,
Recently, our email service has been unable to connect to your email service provider, preventing email delivery to your phone.
This may occur due to one of the following reasons:
    1. Through your service provider, you have changed the email password of your email address. If so, you must update your Nokia Messaging service account with your new password. Email messages will then be delivered to your phone.
    2. The server for your email address is down. For more information, contact your service provider.
    3. You might have inadvertently changed a setting in your Nokia Messaging service account. Log in to your Nokia Messaging account on the website http://netac6.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account to determine whether your information needs to be updated.
    Sincerely,
    The Nokia Messaging Team
received this email from Nokia Messaging:

    Hi,
I had the same problem and after about 24hours it just started wotking again.
I think it was to do with my email account or internet provider not Nokia Messaging as my outlook on pc had the same problem.
Annoying i know but just wait i guess, uninstalling/reinstalling did not help by the way.

  • Unable to send emails via Nokia Messaging

I have had the device for about 3 months and I have never had problems sending emails before, however over the last 3 days when I try and send an email it just sits in my outbox and then after a while it says failed.
I receive emails fine so this is baffling me.
I've noticed a similar problem was addressed however that is specific to getting an error 500 message and I don't get that. I tried the work through anyway but it still didn't solve the issue.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Nokia Messaging pointless........

    Hi....!
Just wanted to post my experiences with Nokia Messaging on my N97 Mini.
Personally, I do not see the point of Nokia Messagind one little bit....!!!  Don't get me wrong - it works fine on my handset - HOWEVER - it is totally pointless
Firstly, I cannot understand, why Nokia Messaging does not support my personal folders that I have created within Hotmail.   Why are there no options to move emails to a selected folder....??!?!   All I can do with emails, is delete them (which brings me on to my next point below) - I should have the option to move them to a selected folder within my hotmail email account.  Its nothing to do with Hotmail, as I have several good apps on my Apple iPod Touch that allow you to do just this - you can move emails from your inbox, to selected folders within Hotmail.......Nokia Messagings 1st problem!!
Secondly - deleating emails.....this NEVER works properly.  Why is it that when you delete an email from Nokia Messaging, it STILL remains on the Hotmail server??  If I delete it from Nokia Messaging - I expect the email to ALSO be deleted from the Hotmail server so if I log on to Hotmail on a pc, the email should have been deleted - IT IS NOT...????!   I have to delete emails from Nokia Messaging, and then when I log on to Hotmail on a pc - the same email is still there sitting in my inbox....????  Again - it is NOTHING to do with Hotmail as the email app I have on iPod Touch (from above), does exactly this - once deleted from the app, it is deleted from the Hotmail server..... Nokia Messaging DOES NOT DO THIS......??!?!
Finally - Nokia Messaging seems to download emails that have been deleted from the Hotmail server - weeks ago....?!?!?!?  Whats up with that...?!??!?!
For me - until problems like these are sorted - Nokia Messaging is totally redundant.........
