  • Automatically run an app every hour?

I need to automatically run an app every hour.
I have a Time Capsule that I am getting rid of because the new UVerse fiber optic internet box does the same router functions but not the back up functions. So I want to make my external drive work like a Time Capsule. That is to mount when needed and unmount when not needed. To that end I have written an application using Applescript/Automator that does exactly that. Mounts the drive, runs the backup and unmounts the drive afterward. Now I am having a hard time finding a way to schedule it to run every hour. Most scheduler apps will only run once a day and Cronnix no longer seems to work or I can't make it work.
    Any thoughts?

You really should use launchd. Lingon is a good tool, give it another look.
I created the following plist with Lingon.
Copy it in TextEdit, save as a plain text file (⇧⌘T) and copy it to Library/LaunchAgents (Lingon does all this for you):
You need to change the path and name of myApp:
    <pre style="

    width: 720px;

  • IPhone 5 and 5c can't connect to Internet every 1 or 2 days with iOS 8.0.2

After having upgraded my iPhone 5 and my wife's iPhone 5c to iOS 8.0.2, they both can't connect to Internet every 1 or 2 days.
They can't connect via wifi neither via 3G.
If I restart the devices they start to connect again.
I tried to reset the network settings and also to restore the devices from scratch via iTunes like the Apple support suggested me,  but the issue still persists.
I'm very frustrated also because I bought to my wife an iPhone telling her she wouldn't have had all the issues she used to have on a previous Samsung smartphone...
Anyone has having the same issue?

After the update, try resetting your cellular network settings on the phone. Make sure the airplane setting is correct and try shutting it on and off to see if that works.
    See if that helps.
    Good Luck!

  • Automatically connect to internet

I have nokia c5-00 and while using it after some time it automatically connect to internet with asking and without telling for what the phone is using internet.
    plz solve this problem ASAP..

i would be lucky about a implementation like there is in Gentoo there you can just use wpa_supplicant and wireless-tools over the /etc/conf.d/net but there is nothing smiliar in Arch (especially when you use WPA)
but WICD is a nice solution. You can install networkmanager too and a GUI Frontend like networkmanager-plasmoid (for KDE) or nm-applet (for GNOME)

  • Automatically connecting to internet 5800 xpress m...

My 5800 Xpress music is automatically connecting to the internet for 6 hours at a time. It then disconnects and reconnects a few minutes later. This happened continuously for a week until my provider barred me for running up a $500 bill. Does anyone know why this is happening? My mobile provider has provided a refund but cannot explain why the phone is doing this.
    Thanks

You can change the plugin setting through the control panel.

  • Automatically connect the Internet via dial up connection?

    Hi all,
I am using LabVIEW 6i. I require to connect the internet via modem. I want this to be done automatically. I read some of the discussion here which discuss some AT protocols. Sorry, but I am not aware of these protocols.
After this auto connection I want to get data from some links. I think this I could using URL property of the windows' browser. If some one has other options please let me know.
    Thanking you.
    Vishal Shah.

I'm not sure I understand your problem. Do you want to dial up a flow controller and talk to it via
Modbus? I am familiar with Modbus and modem connects.

I've uninstalled most of my downloads incase one of them was automatically connecting for updates but this has made no difference. The usual suspects are Nokia Messaging and Mail for Exchange. In the settings change the needed accesspoints.

  • AUtomatic Connection to Internet over wifi not working

    Hi,
How do I get my intel iMac G5 to connect automatically by airport to my wireless network without having to manually do it everytime after start up or sleep? It works on my other ppc imac G5.
    Thanks in advanced,
    Matt

You might have more luck in the forum devoted to such issues:

Probably also a good idea to provide info on the hardware you are using to connect to the internet.

  • WiFi stops connecting to internet every morning

I've been having a recurring problem over the past few weeks. Every morning, when I remove my phone from the alarm clock dock, it shows that it is connected to my home wifi network. However, if I try to use an app that connects to the internet (the Weather app, for example), it will not connect. The phone does not switch to 3G to connect, just returns a failure message. If I go into settings and switch wifi off and on again, the connection issues are resolved.
Any idea what is causing this problem and whether/how I can fix it?

  • Router dropping internet every hour or 2

called my ISP and they narrowed it down to my router losing IP
    model Cisco Linksys wrt54g2 v1
    serial csv01hcc6122

Hi Billybob21, was that working fine before? Try to hard reset the device and re-install the settings. It would have been best if the firmware can also be updated but based on my readings only firmware for WRT54G2 version 1.5 is available on their site.
If you have the firmware file from before, you may use to re-flash the router's firmware. If none, just do a hard reset as mentioned.
    To do it properly :
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds while the device is on.
    2. Release the button and unplug or power off the device.
    Once done, reinstall the settings.

  • Losing ATT internet connection every hour. Help?

Just upgraded from old Airport to Time Capsule. Old network worked flawlessly for years.
My problem is now with Time Capsule I get disconnected from the internet every hour or so. After about 5 minutes the internet connection is automatically restored. (Or I can do a reboot of the modem to restore it quicker.)
I'm using ATT DLS service. Have a Speedstream 5100 modem.
Apple has replaced my Time Capsule, but the problem persists.
I reverted back to my old Airport network and the problem disappears.
Seems to be some type of incompatibility between Time Capsule and ATT.
I've been on the phone for hours with both ATT and Apple. Anybody out there have any thoughts???

I have a similar problem with a new TC 2TB unit. I have ATT ADSL service using a Speedstream modem. PPPoE is setup on the TC and it works and connects. All features of the TC are working (wi-fi, Back to My Mac, Time Machine, etc...) and the light is solid green on the TC.
Periodically, the LED blinks amber and I've lost Internet access. The Speedstream modem shows all green lights. I have found that power cycling the Speedstream modem brings the TC back to solid green after about 2 minutes.
I am seeing this happen about once a day and it can happen overnight when there is no network activity. I am thinking that the lease on the IP address given by ATT expires and the TC does not know enough to reinitiate a connection. I have set the PPPoE Connection to Always On and experienced the problem. I have also tried setting the Connection to Automatic and set the Disconnect if Idle setting to Never.

  • E72 - Email Automatically Connecting

    Hi Everyone,
    I have just changed to a E72 from a E51.
On my E51, I had 2 email accounts setup and had the phone configured to check for new mail every 30 minutes. This worked perfectly well. Note that 30 mins was the earliest interval allowed.
On trying to setup the same accounts on the E72, I was forced to go through the Nokai Messaging wizard, which was a bit of an annoyance, but I eventually have both accounts created and have them configured to check for new mail every 15 mins, using GPRS as the default access point.
The one annoying thing that I can't seem to get round is preventing the phone form automatically connecting to my mailbox every time I go into the account to check what headers have been downloaded. For example, on my E51, I would get notified of new mail and could open the Inbox for the account and view the headers WITHOUT the phone connecting to the server.
Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening on the E72.
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    bobbai

I can't help because I think this cannot be disabled. I just want to confirm how annoying is this problem on the E72. When automatic retrieval is active, the phone checks for new messages, gives notification and when the user opens the mailbox to see the new messages, it immediately checks again. This is not logical and not necessary! A question like "Do you want to connect..." is good solution, and it's not something new because it already works like this on E71, E51 etc.

  • Why do I have to reboot my iPhone 6 every hour to have internet and mail service???

Every hour or two I have to power off my 6 then power on in order to have internet and mail service.  Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm having the same exact issue. I have the same phone/OS. Just switched from AT&T to Verizon so I wasn't sure whether it was my service or the phone. The same connectivity issues are happening to me with things like My Fitness Pal or Facebook notifications. Fitness app won't load or connect and for Facebook, I'll get a notice that I have one, I go to FB and it won't load the notifications or even load new stories on there for that matter. So AGAIN, I have to restart and POOF! I can use FB, Fitness App, etc AND I have 20 emails all of a sudden. So frustrating!
