E72 - Connecting to a camera via USB

Is it possible to connect my Nikon D40 to my Nokia E72 via a mini-USB to mini-USB cable and then would the E72 recognise the D40 as a device off which it could pull data? I ask because I'm going travelling this year and don't want to be lugging a laptop around with me. If I could put the D40 data onto the E72, I could upload it via WiFi and do away with the need for a laptop altogether.

I'd imagine the chances of that working are extremely unlikely.  The closest you could get to something like that would probably be to use a camera that also uses MicroSD or SD (with converter) cards, and then swap the card over.
If I were you, I'd just bring a card reader and upload all your photos at internet cafes instead.   These days you have to go somewhere VERY remote to not come across internet cafes every now and then.

    Dear Community,
how can I connect SCSI tape recorder via USB to iMac ?
Is there any adapter/converter on the market now ?
    Cheers, Marek

    Thanks Jan.
Actually the reason to use Quantum SCSI tape recorder is to back-up big amount of data (propriety movies footage) both on PC (what is quite easy, using SCSII host adapter with VHDCI 68 connector) and iMac what seems to be not easy. All my search by Google leads to that conclussion, they finished production of SCSI-to-USB or FireWire because somebody stopped to produce chips to covert protocols. So even buying noe second-hand adapter, no guaranty it's still working with Lion (nobody is developing drivers anymore). Strange is, nobody or just a few are using SCSII (Ultra 320) devices (while the transfer is not bad, 320 MBps what is 2560 Mbps, so the only limitation is tape recording (some 80 MBps) not an interface. Using compression mode I can (and I do) record 1,6 TB of footage data. However quite slow, is safe and cheap, comparing with any HD storage solution. USB 2 is much more limited.
I'm using Time Capsule for buck-up. But even 3 TB one day will be full of data, then old back-ups will be eaten by new once, what is not good idea for archives. I'm using another 2TB NAS HD (2x2TB RAID 1), but this is also going to be full soon.
Of course, you are right, the option is another machine (OSX,Win,Linux or Solaris) equipped with SCSII controller. But this requires another machine, just for back-up time to time, and in practice iMac folders must be shared with that small auxiliary machine because amount of data practically excluding even temporary data collection on auxiliary machine. And it must be transfer by wire, not WIFI, my only network. Tape recording is in my case really good, professional solution, isn't it?
Anyway, if somebody has similar requirements as me, and found the solution for SCSI, please let me know. So far, follow Jan's idea, I'm thinking about some embeded mini PC, fanless, equipped with slot for SCSI, with SOME smart system on-board, to deal with iMac for type recording. The option is previous Apple model, but to be honest, I became Mac/OSX user 4 years ago. I fell in love with Mac, but my knowledge about previous models is based on Google....
My desk becomes full of boxes. Do you know how big Quantum TC-L42BX is ? Is very big. And now another box.....another keyboard....another screen... And one small adapter could solve the problem. Eh....
    Best regards,
    Marek

  • How do I set up my iPhone 4s to sync automatically to iTunes when connected to my iMac via USB?

How do I set up my iPhone 4s to sync automatically to iTunes when connected to my iMac via USB?  Currently it only syncs when I manually click on sync.
Somehow I do have my 5th gen. iPod set up to sync automatically with the same iTunes / computer.  But I do not actually see a checkbox for either device.
(yes, the 'prevent devices from automatically syncing' is unchecked)
    thank you!

  • N70 unable to connect phone to compter via USB hel...

Brand spanking new N70, downloaded PC suite however not able to connect phone to compter via USB to transfer music. Can anybody help?

    Hi bento
When you install PC Suite for first time there are TWO seperate processes, firstly installing PC Suite then returns to desktop and then secondly establishing connectivity during which "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solution" installed.
You could go to Setings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Repair and see if this helps

  • A printer that I have connected to my iMac via usb in not showing up in printer options on my iPhone or iPad and it use to before I upgraded to 8.1

A printer that I have connected to my iMac via usb in not showing up in printer options on my iPhone or iPad and it use to before I upgraded to 8.1. How can I fix this?

Is it an Airprint-compatible printer, and is its WiFi enabled if it is? (see: About AirPrint)
If it isn't an Airprint supported printer, then you need a 3rd party driver on your iMac to print from an iPhone. Such as Printopia. As it worked in the past you probably have such a printer driver installed; check and see if it's running.
Beyond that try restarting the printer, restarting the phone, restarting your router, and restarting your computer.

Is it possible to connect an external camera via bluetooth to the Iphone 4 and use it with Facetime, if not.. why?

Ok, in 2015 is it possible now? I would like to use an iPad and Face to share content between a dressmaker in Asia and a customer in the US, and I would like to attach better camera's than the built-in camera's on the devices.
Any thoughts? Any updates to the original post?

My HP Deskjet 1055 was connected to my laptop via USB and wiould not print immediately. However, when the computer was restarted, the printing job started. Please help me with a solution.

The problem is with your computer's USB port as it is powering down to save power. You need to turn this off. Go here. http://www.ehow.com/how_6818080_turn-port_s-power-save-option.html

  • My ipad is not charging while connected to any device via usb cable

my ipad is not charging while connected to any device via usb cable

If you mean that you've connected it to a computer's USB port then a lot of computers don't provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.

  • Scanner/Camera via USB not recognized under 10.8

    Hi there,
after installing 10.8 on my 2011 iMac, neither my Lexmark Scanner nor my Camera are recognized via the USB-port by Image capture or iPhoto respectively; no matter if connected via USB-hub or directly to the iMac.
Odd enough, sending faxes or printing with the Lexmark works perfectly allright over the very same USB-connection, as well as p.e. dongles are recognized.
Needless to mention, with 10.7.4 everything went just fine; I updated the Lexmark drivers, I repaired permissions after the first install of 10.8 and even did a second install in the meantime - same prob!
    Any ideas???
THANKS and a wonderful weekend for You all...

So, as there was no help anywhere, neither from the guys at Lexmark nor here, I knew no better than to downgrade again to 10.7.4 (using TimeMachine) and: immediately the prob was solved, the scanner as well as the camera work just fine... odd thing, all the more as I seem to be the only one having this strange USB-bug...

  • Recognizing digital camera via USB

I recently recently reinstalled 10.3 on my iBook using the 'Archive' option. Since reinstallation, my iBook will not recognize my digital camera that is connected via USB.
I have verified permissions and zapped pram. The USB ports work fine with my printer.
Any idea how to proceed to get the camera recognized?
Thanks for any help - direction.

    I understand your frustration.
Does Apple System Profiler see anything connected to your USB port? With the camera connected and turned on, click "About This Mac" at the top of the Apple menu, then click "More Info" in the window that follows, and "USB" in the ASP window. When you click on each of your two USB ports in the upper right portion of the ASP window, what is shown below for connected devices? If there's nothing there, some sort of hardware problem would seem to be indicated — and the fact that your ports work with other devices suggests that if there's a hardware problem, it's in the camera or its USB cable. The fact that both were working before you reinstalled the OS doesn't absolutely guarantee that both are still working, though the temporal coincidence of a failure in one of them with your OS reinstallation does strain credulity a little.
...the camera was recognized by my computer before I reinstalled the OS.
That's why I initially surmised that the current failure to do so might be due to software (a driver or extension) that was deactivated when you archived your old OS. But it could instead be because of some software setting or preference that was selected before the reinstallation, archived with the old OS, and now needs to be selected again. Unfortunately, I can't think what it might be. I hope someone else will come along with a bright idea for you.

  • My iPod will not connect to the iMac via USB.

I can no longer charge nor sync my ipod because it will not connect via USB.  What can I do to fix this?

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Connection to serial port via USB adapter- error -2147221503

I am trying to drive a stepper motor provided with possible Labview or VB programs. This motor is supposed to be connected via serial port, but the computer has not some, so I bought an USB adpater to connect my motor via USB. I am using the labview programs provided (Labview 8.0). The program cannot connect to the port and returns error -2147221503. Where may I find some help with that ?
    Thanks

I see references to 'Luminos'. Is this the provider of the stepper motor and LabVIEW code? If so, your first step should be to contact them. The whole VI is nothing but ActiveX properties and methods and the vendor would be the only one who knows what is going on.

  • Since upgrading to 10.8 my iMac can't see video files to copy across in Finder when connecting my AVCHD camcorder via USB

Hi, I usually connect my Panasonic AVCHD Camcorder via USB to copy the .MTS files across to my iMac for editing. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, Finder sees the directories for photos stored on the Camcorder but not the video directories/files. I can see them via Parallels. Any ideas why?
    Thanks, Julian

ML will show the AVCHD as a pkg, so you are not able view the directories like BDMV-->Stream-->MTS. You can right click AVCHD file, then choose show package contents. you will see BDMV, then you right click BDMV to choose show package, you will see stream folder, just do it again, you will find MTS files. Next time if you want to check the MTS files you just need to do above again. right click AVCHD....
Another way, rename AVCHD to AVCHD.mts then do it same with BDMV and Stream folder, it will let you see MTS files after that. Those mts files will keep showing on your mac next time.
    Hope it helps

  • Can't connect macbook to internet via usb

I connect to the internet via the ethernet connection when i'm away at college and that works perfectly. But when I try to connect up at home via the usb connection from our broadband it doesn't recognise any internet connection.
Do I need to change settings or something like that?

Jsut to clarify: Are you able to access the router's Administration UI from a browser on the server itself? If so, that rules out a configuration issue (at least with the type of link) with the computer and the router. Are other computers attached to the router able to get online at the same time? What DNS servers is the Windows Server 2008 machine using?
