E72 Crashing/Hanging often
Hello,
I purchased my Nokia E72 around 4-6 months ago and I love it as a phone. It does everything I need it to.
The problem I have is that it doesnt receive incoming calls 100% of the time or let me do outgoing 100% of the time. It randomly hangs or crashes and does not allow the incoming/outgoing calls. When it is like this I can use my phone with every other function possible and there is no sign that it isnt working.
The only time I can see that there is a problem is when I switch it off and on again and then I have many "Missed call" messages popping through.
Therefore I miss many calls for personal and business and I need to swithc my phone off and on maybe 3 times a day.
I dont understand why it does this as I have never dropped or damaged the phone in any way.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of a way that I can fix it?
Hi, I have similar problems but they have receded. I contacted Nokia and they advised me to reinstall the firmware, even if it showed to be up to date. I did it and that has helped... My phone used to crash a lot, but always before that the clock's icon and application used to disappear or stop. Reinstalling the software takes an hour (download about 200Mb) but it is straightforward with the ovi suite o pc suite.

Pre10 crashes, hangs, and "Error compiling movie. Unknown error."
I'm using Premiere Elements 10.0 and an am having a lot of trouble. On a simple project (just half a dozen video clips with audio and some DVD menu stuff) I din't have much trouble. However my bigger project (which is the reason I bought PRE10) isn't working well at all. My pc specs are at the bottom of the post.
Issue 1. about a third of the time, when starting PRE10, the opening welcome screen comes up, I hit 'Open Project', it start to load, then gets an error. With this error I also get an entry in windows event viewer, application log of: Faulting application adobe premiere elements.exe, version 10.0.0.0, faulting module gdiplus.dll, version 5.2.6002.22509, fault address 0x0000f47d.
If I get past that bug, the PRE sometimes just freezes up (a couple times with the audio track still playing, but otherwise frozen).
After many frustrating hours, I think I'm close to having my project complete, and now PRE won't render and create a file. I've tried just a short snippet, or the entire thing - either way it renders for a while (just a few minutes), then gives the subject line error message - "Unknown error" isn't very helpful! Once, after getting this error an I let it sit there a whle, it then gave the same gdipluss.dll fault that I typically see on startup.
I'd love to have all of these issues solved, but I most important thing is being about to get some sort of output! I've tried a variety of output format, all do the same thing (mpeg2, avchd, dvd, hdtv, etc.)
Thanks
Charles
Details:
- video format is AVCHD (m2ts) coming from a Panasonic HDC-TM90.
- mostly a single video track with audio, sometimes a second video track layered on top
- narration track in .wav format
- soundtrack in .wav format
- roughly 30 minutes long
- video files are coming off of the external usb 500GB drive
- I've played with setting the rendering location to the mostly empty E: drive or the mostly full C: drive - no difference
- I see from other posts about crashes that a key question is what is the project format set to. How do I tell?? I chose that a month back (been working on this off and on for a while...) and I don't remember, and don't see how to check the current settings.

Now, and with the Source Files and Project on your E:\, or your external HDD, how much free-space is on your C:\. That can be very important, especially as with only 2GB RAM, you WILL be using your Windows Page File (Virtual Memory) often, and heavily.
Now, though this is covered in one of the links in the PrE Crashing & Hanging article (Memory & Resources), how is your Page File managed, and is it located on your C:\?
Also, is your Project file (the PREL) located with the Source Files, on either E:\, or your external HDD? I know that you have tried several locations. Also, where are your Scratch Disks (Edit>Preferences) set to? Those can be very large, and if one has them pointed to a nearly full HDD, can crash things.
Last, at least for now, is your F:\ your external HDD? If so, it is formatted FAT-32, and that limits file sizes to ~ 4GB. This ARTICLE will tell you how to Convert a FAT-32 HDD to NTSF.
Good luck,

Skype stuff.zip 211 KBHi Thibault,
I too have problems with my skype crashing. I have done what you wrote in the post http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/How-to-report-a-crash-hang-or-any-other-issue/td-p/1449277 - except for one of the logging steps as I do not have the skype folder in the ~/Library/Application Support/Skype (I removed some files there which was a tip in another help post). I have attached the other documents.
I have a Macbook Pro (Version 10.6.8, Processor: 2.4. GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3), no external hardware interacting with skype. I don’t think that the crashing happened after an upgrade – rather all of a sudden or possibly after someone random tried to add me/call me, as it happens quite often.
I have deleted skype and downloaded it again several times, and I have also done a ‘verify disc permissions’ and ‘repair disc permissions’. I have also checked that I have the latest quicktime and adobe. The skype I have is the latest version which is suitable for my laptop.
There is not a problem with my account as it works on my cell phone and other computers.
I would really appreciate the help!!!! Thanks in advance!

I need to know which update(s) I can apply to help stabalize the system.
Typing the body of the thread message in the title, huh? -)
I am working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) with boot camp running Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Windows crashes quite often now-a-days and I need to get this fixed. I heard that updating boot camp can help. Currently I am running Version 3.0.4 (322).
Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out. --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?
I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -
One user's created PDFs have started to crash/hang Preview and PDFPen
All the PDFs scanned in and sent to me by a particular user crash or hang Preview and PDFPen – but not Acrobat which opens them just fine. The odd thing is that this user's PDFs did not have such an effect on the apps until I did a Software Update (don't know what got updated but some Java libs were updated). The other odd thing is that no other PDFs except those scanned in by this one user, including those that used to open before, crash/hang the apps. And the third odd thing is that they crash/hang Preview and PDFPen but not Acrobat. (Do Preview and PDFPen share some common libs but not Acrobat?)
I would attach one such PDF for PDF techies to see what the problem may be but Apple Discussions doesn't allow file attachments as far as I can see. Therefore I've appended below the beginning of one such PDF file if it helps.

rVG,B?z?h??t?dxK?@BDAqua, Thank you for checking and for your reply. I'm using Preview 3.0.9 (409) on 10.4.11. Did you cover that?
What do you mean by 'here'? I'm not a regular here (I mean the forum) so do you by any chance mean Infinite Loop? If so, maybe you could tell me what/which lib I can look at or into? Interesting to know that PDFPen indeed uses the system's PDF libs but Acrobat doesn't.
There's definitely something different about the referred-to PDF and all other PDFs created by this user (which are scanned in on some Xerox scanner) and I'd love to know what it is.
Thanks. -
Why does iPhoto crash so often when I am trying to assign faces?
I have a 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I cannot figure out why iPhoto crashes so often. I have rebuilt the library several times. I have transferred the library to a different hard drive and then opened the library under a different user account. This is the crash report...

CS4 Windows problems: crash very often, stuck when import certain avi files
The followling problems are in CS4 (newer updated) Windows (Windows XP SP3):
I am using Premiere Pro in CS4 and the program crashes so often (it crashes more than 10 times in one afternoon). It usually starts when I place clip, photoshop file, or other assets to sequence. If it starts leave a lot of frames while I pull the asset (there will be the same frame over the path my mouse went), it is a signal to crash soon. After it restarts, it usually loses the last saved information (even I saved the project way before it crashes). I do not know whether other users see the similar behavior.
The second problem does not look like only for CS4. It happens in CS3 too. When I place an AVI file (not sure whether other format behaves the same), the import program will stuck in the end (while it shows "generate peaks from xxx.avi"). It will take forever and I never successfully finish importing the file. I worked around and realized it only happens to the avi files I captured from Movie maker (use Auto capture option). The avi file can be played in Windows Media player. If I use Movie maker to cut the end of the avi file, the new avi file can be imported to Premiere without any problem. It seems the last few frames in the captured avi file has problem so the import subfunction will stuck there. I am not sure whether this is the case. If it is, the program should be "SMART" enough to go on or ignore the bad frames.
Any idea? Thanks, Harm. This brings to another problem I had. While I am using PR to capture DV from my two mini-DV cameras, sometimes it just generates a lot flicks or "snow" in the avi files. But with Movie Maker, the same tape will not have such problem. This is why I am using Movie maker to capture the movie since it is accessible beside PR. It seems the PR problem is only for the last few frames so I just cut the last few frames off. I do not know why PR cannot just generate an Error message to UI so we will not just wait there for hours. I did some programming to control many instruments and I understand I cannot project every problem the program will encount, but at least I can generate an error message to tell the user where the problem is. Is this the fundmental guideline for programmers? If PR does like the format, let us know when it reads. It is very frustrated while you wait there hours and hours without any idea why it stucks!

Hello ,
I have very strange issue, Any select statement on few tables takes very long time( in fact it hangs) often but the same SQL runs in a second all other times in the same database. Please note that it is a simple select statement without any 'for update' clause.
After recycling the database, the select statement runs faster but this situation comes back after couple of days on the same set of tables.
We are using 9i release 2.
Can you please advise how to go about solving this type of issue.
Thanks.438628, Robert is correct in that the board would need to see an explain plan to have any chance of narrowing the problem down. If bind variable peeking is involved the plan may not match what Oracle is actually doing to solve the query.
When the problem occurs try looking in v$plan_table and see if the plan matches the explain plan output. A difference would be a clue that a reparse of sometype is being done so the plan could be different for each execution. The presence of child cursors would also point to something causing reparses.
Do any of the columns for this table involved in the where clause has histograms on them? What is the value of the spfile/init.ora parameter cursor_sharing?
If cursor_sharing is EXACT then bind variable peeking should not be the problem. If the parameter is SIMILAR or FORCE then it could be. On 9.2 I believe there is a bug that causes a reparse for every execution when SIMILAR is used so evey execution could be a different plan.
To check for skewed data just count the values in the column and then count by value. If the max(value_count) / count(*) is greater than a small percentage of the data then the column is skewed. The worse the skew the more likely that a plan chosen for a distinctive value is not a good plan for a non-distinctive value.

OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Crashes Too Often
Hi,
My iMac and MBP have been upgraded to OS X Mavericks 10.9.3. They crash too often.
EdProvide the crash report.
You might also provide an EtreCheck report as well.
Did you install 3rd Party RAM recently? Bad RAM is a frequent cause of kernel panics
Are you running an Anti-Virus package? Another frequent cause of kernel panics, and completely unnecessary on Macs, as Mac OS X includes very good anti-malware measures built-in. -

On my mac I have both Quicktime X and Quicktime 7 pro. Both applications seem to be crashing quite often lately. This happens when playing all files types. I notice it more with .flv file. It usually happens when i grab the time slider bar and try to move it. The apps will freeze and I have to "force quit" to get them to close. Sometimes putting the computer to sleep and waking it up helps. Is there a way to remedy this?
Oops, I needed to update my profile. I have snow leopard now

Elements 6.0 Crashing Too Often for Work
Hello, I've been using my copy of PSE6.0 almost all day today off and on, trying to get a picture done just perfectly, as well as to be able to play around with the features. Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly difficult to finish individual steps on my work, because, while at the beginning of today, Photoshop crashed maybe one time, now it crashes after I do much of anything. After about 3 or 4 minutes, which is not enough to complete the step I'm on and save, regardless of what I'm doing, Photoshop will give me the "Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 has encountered and error and needs to close." message. I can't finish the step I'm on with the constant crashing, and it's really a hassle to turn off the computer and get it to speed back up to par again. If someone can help me solve this problem, I would be extremely grateful.
Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash. Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

You have 1333 MHz memory and your computer is compatible with 1066 MHz memory. Replace the memory you have for 1066 MHz memory and the problem shouldn't appear.
Apart from that, uninstall Symantec. You don't need it and there are better applications like Sophos and ClamXav > http://www.thesafemac.com/mmg -
MBP 2008 late crashes too often after update to Mavericks
My Macbook Pro 2008 late(First generation of Unibody) works perfect on OS X 10.8.x, but after update to Mavericks yesterday, it crashes too often, about 1 hour 1 time.
It seems com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement caused the issue, but I have no idea how solve it.
I checked the kernel extensions, found there are some from VirtualBox, so update it to latest 4.3.0 version, it have initial Mavericks support, but crashes still.
