E72 - Email - Accept Certificate Permanently?

Just setting up my new E72, but there's no option to accept a certificate permanently like there was on the E71 and other phones...
Has anyone discovered how to do this yet?

Certificates on Nokia E-Series work, but it can be a pain to install them properly. It is a basic system function so it should be the same with MfE, Nokia Mail or third party mail clients.
The problem is that certificates only work permanently when there is one certificate per host and the names are matching (more or less exactly).
If you permanently accept a certificate it does not mean the connection you just made is "learned" and you will not be bothered again. It just means the connection is accepted for now and the certificate is installed to the phone.
But if there is any host name / certificate name mismatch you will be asked again on next connect.
Example1:
Your mail server has the address mail.company.com. The server resolves also to serverxyz.headquarters.com and the certificate is for the latter.
Example2:
Your mail server has the address mail.company.com. The certificate is for *.company.com (wildcard certificate).
Solution:
1) In your mail client, always set the host name which matches the name in the certificate. (in Example 1 this means you have to enter "serverxyz.headquarters.com" in your mail client instead of mail.company.com).
2) Download the certificate as a file and convert it to CER (x509 binary).
3) If you have a wildcard certificate, rename the file to match the exact host name (in example 2 this would be "mail.company.com.cer") If you want to access several hosts with the same wildcard certificate you have to produce a file for every host (same file named "mail1.company.com.cer" and "mail2.company.com.cer "
4) Copy the file(s) to your phone and run them from the file browser to install them.

  • Always accept certificate [solved] (sort of)

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to mount a webdav folder to /mnt/dav but it always asks me to accept the certificate. Is there any way to always accept the certificate (without asking me)?
    [jules@Inspiron mnt]$ mount /mnt/dav
The server certificate is not trusted.
      Server identity: *.xs4all.nl
      Issuer:  Equifax Secure Inc., US

You only should accept this certificate, if you can
verify the fingerprint! The server might be faked

At the moment it is not possible to store these certificates permanently, but
you will be prompted every time you connect. This feature is intended for one

  • My email address is permanently gone!!!

I recently switched to Comcast, and I had been meaning to run their True Assistant program to notify my contacts of my new address, and forward all emails to my new address.  I've been very busy lately, hardly been home.  I finally get a chance to run the program, and it tells me that my verizon email address is not a valid one.  So I try to get into my verizon email, and I cannot access it anymore.  Well, I am thinking just call Verizon and they should be able to reactivate it so that I can run the email switch program.  I had many important contacts, and many important emails under my verizon email.  It's really bad if I lose them permanently.
So I call Verizon, and was transferred probably a dozen times, only to find out, once my email address is disabled, all my contacts and emails are gone permanently.  And I find out then I only have a week from the time I contact Verizon to do the switch.  This is not good at all.
I am told I could get my email address back for a monthly fee of $5.00, but all my contacts and emails are gone.  In my opinion, after all my hassles with being transferred so many times, I should get it for free.  Besides, I needed those contacts and I needed those emails.
I am just very angry at them right now.  I can't believe how they kept transferring me cold.  And to only find out that everything is gone and can't be retrieved. And that I have to pay them my hard-earned dollars to at least get my email address back.  I shouldn't have to pay them another cent.

While the odds of your content actually being gone are slim, Verizon does have the right to remove it as soon as you cancel. You agreed to it in the Terms of Service when you signed up:
9.2 - Deletion of Data upon Termination. YOU AGREE THAT IF YOUR SERVICE IS TERMINATED FOR ANY REASON, VERIZON HAS THE RIGHT TO IMMEDIATELY DELETE ALL DATA, FILES AND OTHER INFORMATION (INCLUDING EMAILS, ADDRESS BOOK AND WEB STORAGE CONTENT) STORED IN OR FOR YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE TO YOU.
This is hardly ever the case, though. Odds are that your old account is in a disabled status, but not deleted. It can be re-enabled, but you will have to get to a tech that both understands how to re-enable the account and is willing to do so. I recommend asking for a supervisor, since they're somewhat more likely to at least know the process.

  • I want to give an email gift certificate for a single song download ($1.10)

    Hello
Is there a way to give an email gift certificate for less than $10 USD?
I want to give an email gift certificate for a single song download ($1.10) and can't figure out how to do it.
    Please help

There isn't a way to purchase a gift certificate for that specific amount, but it is possible to gift one particular song to someone as a gift. You can read about it here.

  • Email gift certificate for different iTunes store?

    Hi,
I wish to give an email gift certificate for a friend in Japan. But my iTunes store account is in US. Can I purchase the gift certificate from a US iTunes store for my friend to use on a Japanese iTunes store? If not, what is the best way to give a gift across the border?
    Please advise. Thanks in advance.
    Yitping

    Buy one directly from an Apple Retailer or Reseller Store;
The card needs to be purchased in the country it is for. Can't purchase a gift card from Apple in the US and use it in a different country's store.
Same as eBay (which I wouldn't recommend). The card needs to be originally from teh country it is to be used in.

  • HT2736 Are iTunes email gift certificates discontinued?

Are iTunes email gift certificates discontinued?  I tried to purchase one but received a message: "Apple ID not eligible to purchase gift certificates.  Buy a gift card."  A message board said it's because the email certificates are no longer available.

I would liek to assume that its due to all the fraud with the gift certificates. I recently had 2 $50 gift certificates purchased with my iTunes account and i have NEVER bought anything from iTunes before. So that would be my guess.

Is there a fix for this?

Reach out to your provider. They would be responsible for maintaining any certificates associated with the account.

That usually indicates the mailbox on your ISP's mail server. That's where you have to look and clean up.

  • Department of Defense Email Intermediate Certificates

I just noticed that a bunch of new certificates are on my Keychain Access under SystemCACertificates and virtually all of them are Department of Defense CA or Department of Defense Email CA Certificates. Is this normal? Why are these here? They were definitely not there before.

Thanks for the help. In answer to your question about why my system didn't load these before, I was tempted to say that maybe it was a software update, except that my other computer is running the same system and doesn't have these on it. Why didn't yours show them? Since they don't seem necessary to me, is it okay to just delete all SystemCACertificates?

  • Purchase of email gift certificate in the iTunes store - having problems?

I tried for 15 min. to figure out how to buy an email gift certificate from the iTunes store via my Mac. I read the HELP instructions and they did not corespond with what was on my screen (and Apple presented no pictures to illustrate and use to match). Problem was this - beware - especially with the holiday shopping coming... you might end up frustrated by this too:
If your iTunes home page is displaying via their "Just for You" personalized feature, it won't display the buy a gift certificate, etc. commands. So - turn off that "Just for You" stuff. The screen will refresh and present you with access to those purchase commands. Funky funky... both the instructions and the interface.
Lastly, right now the purchasing engine ain't working at all. I tried to make a purchase there and the display just kept saying that there's a problem at their server level or something like that and to try again later.
    Like I said, funky...

I have PayPal set up for purchases. I ordered the egift for email delivery to my self and keep getting the message that the purchase did not go through, contact support. I contacted them and they told me they had fixed the problem so I tried many times again and got same message. I do nto understand why there is always some problem with Itunes. Seldom is it a smooth process. This is the only account I have with constant problems.

  • Once cancelled, Accept Certificate window never appears again! (HELP!)

Ok, I am developing a self-signed applet for me and a few friends to play a webgame.
They can still play. In fact, they're having a grand ole' time. but ME, the DEVELOPER is locked out.
WHY? because I hit "cancel" on the "accept certificate" one time.
It's been 3 days now, and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to flush my accepted / rejected certificates!
It's not in the java > security > control panel thing, because I hvae played around with every option there, and still in both my browsers (even after reinstalling firefox) I get just a plain white-screen whit no popup window when I visit the html.
Simply stated: How do I force the "Accept Certificate" dialogue to pop up again? I'm sure anyone who's made a signed applet experiences this worry!!!

    Hi,
The original posters have probably worked this out already ;)
On Windows you can control certificates by going to Control Panel->Java Control Panel->Security and click "Certificates"

  • Problems with e72 email connection, security setti...

    Hello everyone,
I got back my e72 after a few months using an e5 and now I cannot connect to my email without changing the certificates every other minutes.
Let me explain: I have two accounts, on hotmail and gmail. I create the mailboxes, fill all the fields and tried different ways of connecting: the IMAP hotmail account through "Others", the POP3 hotmail account through "Others", the hotmail automatic account, the gmail automatic account, the Mail for exchange, etc. It does always download the emails that are in my real mailbox but then I cannot connect anymore automatically.
Each time, I end up with two problems:
    - on IMPA and POP3, the security settings in "advance settings" always turn off after I put it on so the email doesn't connect. So I always have to turn it on to be able to connect.
    - with mailforexchange, I have to delete each time the new "permanent certificate" so that the phone connect to my email account and dowload the email received or send the new ones.
So am I missing some plugs in? Am I missing anything else?
    Thanks!

For hotmail I tried two different ones:
    - m.hotmail.com (as explained here: http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA136561) and s.outlook.com fo mailexchange,
and for imap and pop, I followed this: http://windows.microsoft.com/fr-FR/windows/outlook/send-receive-from-app
But none work without me having to change on and on the permanent certificate (the phone didn't asked me to but I found out it was the only way to have an update of my emails) or change the "secure connection" to Yes because it does always go back to No in "Advance Mailbox settings".
    - for gmail: imap.gmail.com
