E72: How to clean up files downloaded during insta...

Hello,
I upgraded quick office to ver 6 and noticed that phone memory has reduced by a big margin. From 190 MB to 177MB. Is there a way to clean up unwanted files from C: drive of the phone ? Are there are any apps that can do this clean up ?

The new version of QuickOffice needs to be installed somewhere, and that's on your C: drive, so it's normal that you lose a few megabytes.
Please note that the original version of QuickOffice comes in the firmware (ROM), so the only way to update it without losing C: space would be if this is upgraded in the firmware (by Nokia).

How to recover a file downloaded but not saved in firefox.(when downloading gave the open option instead of save)

I was downloading a large RAR file from the internet.
While downloading the file i didn't selected the save option instead i gave open with(winrar) option. I have some other rar files to combine with this file. So after the completion of this partial downloaded rar file is not saved in my system.How can i recover it.

But i already searched the windows and looked for that file.. But its not anywhere to be found. See first while downloading i gave the open option instead of save. So after the completion of the download the file opened automatically in winRAR. I tried to extract that file then it gave me some error. After that i closed the winrar and searched for that file in windows with search option but its not seen anywhere.

IPhoto made a huge mess, how to clean up files on HD???

I have thousands of photos in iPhoto v6.0.6, and it has somehow made a huge frustrating mess of things. Some preliminary information:
• My preference is set to "Copy photos to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
• Under the main "Library" heading, I have five categories with the little yellow calendar icon: "Early Photos," "2007," "2008," "2009," "2010." I am under the impression that when adding/removing photos to an album, I am simply creating/removing links to the photos within these main categories. Therefore, I was assuming that if I delete the photos from these categories, they will disappear for good within the main Libraries as well as within individual Albums.
Earlier this evening I attempted to delete a bunch of photos which I don't want anymore... I want to get rid of these photos in iPhoto, but I would like to delete them from the hard drive as well. I went into each of the 5 categories under the main Library heading, and selected hundreds of photos to delete. After highlighting the photos I wanted to delete, I pressed Command-Delete on my keyboard (which, in the Photo menu, says it should move the photos to the trash). I assumed this meant it would move the physical files to the Finder's Trash. After deleting photos from the individual categories, I went into my Finder's Trash, and there was nothing there. So I noticed there is also a "Trash" section at the bottom of the left-hand pane within iPhoto (very confusing). All of my deleted photos were in there. So I selected them again, and pressed Command-Delete. All photos disappeared without a trace within iPhoto.
So far, so good.... My HUGE problem is that none of these photos were actually deleted from the hard drive!! I went into my home folder/Pictures/iPhoto Library/etc/etc/Camera Roll #x, and ALL of the photos I attempted to delete still reside on my hard drive as if they're still being managed by iPhoto!
I'll be honest... I have plenty of time to manually go through dozens of folders in the Finder and look for all of these photos a second time and delete them. However I'm simply not willing to waste time doing that when I thought I had already accomplished that task by selected "Move To Trash" from within iPhoto, and then emptying the trash. I'll just ditch iPhoto altogether if I can't fix this.
My questions: a) How can I get iPhoto to actually delete a photo when I tell it to (including thumbnails)? b) How can I clean up my hard drive automatically so that the only photos within the iPhoto Library folder (in the Finder) are those which still reside within iPhoto? c) How do I prevent this mess from happening again? d) If anyone from Apple is monitoring this forum, when will this major flaw in the user experience be fixed?

1 - it is a really good idea to post in the appropriate forum - you apparently posted an iPhoto 6 question in the iPhoto '09 forum - in this case the answer is the same for the questions you ask
a) How can I get iPhoto to actually delete a photo when I tell it to (including thumbnails)?
Select the photo(s) in roll view and drag to the iPhoto trash or press the delete key - empty the iPhoto trash from the iPhoto menu ==> empty trash - do this in batches of 100 or less photos
b) How can I clean up my hard drive automatically so that the only photos within the iPhoto Library folder (in the Finder) are those which still reside within iPhoto?
I'm not sure what happened and no longer have iPhoto 6 to test - one thing to try is backing up your library and rebuilding the library (depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto)
c) How do I prevent this mess from happening again?

Also NEVER use the finder to make any changes to the contents or structure of the iPhoto library - doing so may corrupt your library and cause data loss

How to keep Mac files secure during repair at Apple Store

I will be taking my MacBook Pro into an Apple Store to have a Genius diagnose a persistent hardware problem. I am very concerned about my files and info being stolen or tampered with if a I have to leave it there for repairs. I am especially concerned about Keychain. What is the recommended way to keep the contents of my Mac secure in this situation, since I assume I will have to give them my Administrator info? Thanks

I'd recommend against FileVault if you have a lot of data, especially media files that are one singular file in excess of several hundred MBs (or more). Someone got a client of mine to configure FileVault (first time) on her MacBook Pro that had about 180GB of movies, music, pictures, etc. While it enabled FileVault in about 25-30 minutes on the initial sparsebundle image creation it took over 37 hours to remove the sparsebundle image when she turned FileVault. It wasn't even corrupted... I couldn't imagine how long it would have taken if it was.
I vote the temporary relocation of files, it's quicker and easier.
Also, while I can't speak for all Mac Genii that do repairs, having served as one for a while I honestly say that I never "snooped" around a user's machine. Unless they explicitly asked me to verify something, I never clicked anywhere that wasn't System Profiler, Activity Monitor or System Preferences. Honestly, there was just never any "free time" during a repair to be digging through your documents or pictures and the risk of termination or something worse was not worth the "thrill."

I decided to test the option in 2012 for "Apply Operating System" that allows you to run from DP (Windows 8 image). The overall Task Sequence is set to download and execute so wanted to test how much time it would save to run the Apply OS
phase from the DP. Well it didn't save any time as the step "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" downloaded the WIM file prior to downloading the SCCM Client install files.
I double checked the source paths for my Client Package and my OS package and they do not contain one others code in them so unlike the post above its not a package source issue.
Has anyone else tried using the check box for run from DP only for apply OS? Curious if this behavior happens even without the check box and it just goes right past it and download the client files since the WIM already exists from the Apply OS phase..
When the build completes I'll start digging through log files to see if there are any clues..

So here's the snippet of the smsts.log showing the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" step downloading the Windows 8 WIM. As you can see it triggers a download of the WIM file after preparing the OSDSetupWindows.exe command line?
Doesn't seem to make sense to me since OSDSetupWindows.exe is located in the boot image (X:\sms\bin\i386\OSDSetupWindows.exe) so not sure why it triggers a WIM download..
Thoughts?

How do I enable file downloads without requiring helper applications?

Firefox is now requiring helper applications for "apt" downloads. I don't want that. I just want to download files and install by hand. How do I regain always having the option to simply download any file, of any type?

What is an APT file?
Are you getting the Open/Save/Cancel dialog, or the Save/Cancel dialog, or is Firefox attempting to open the file directly?
Firefox generally associates programs or plugins with content types instead of file extensions. This information may be gleaned from your operating system or from plugins. This information is stored in a file named mimeTypes.rdf and is maintained automatically, so it's risky (and might be fruitless) to edit the file by hand...

How to run assembly file downloaded to install HSF

I am not very familiar to installations. I want to install HSF client on my computer as I think HSF server would be very difficult. When I downloaded the installable from the edelivery site, it gave me a file which has extension assembly.dat. How do i execute this file.

Seems you're new to installing Hyperion V11 products.
First, you need to download all the .zip files for- (i) All parts of Foundation Services, (ii) HSF, (iii) Other components, as per the requirement
Secondly, create a folder, say, EPM_Unzipped on one of your drives, having at least 4-5 GB free space. Now, copy all the .zip files you downloaded into this EPM_Unzipped folder. Without navigating to any other directory, extract all the .zip files(you downloaded) in this same EPM_Unzipped folder. Once you've done this, locate & double-click- the batch file, InstallTool. If it doesn't throw any errors & shows you the interface to proceed with the installation, rest is a cake-walk. (Else- I advise to pls. download & read the epm_install.pdf guide from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_install.pdf. Specifically, "Component Installation By Tier and Installation Assemblies" section which tells you which assemblies are to be present before proceeding with the installation).
Thirdly, after due creation of repositories, proceed to configure the installed components one-by-one, preferably not all in go!

generally browsers will ask whether to save it to local drive or open it?, if you click on a link that has link to a file. This you need to set in the browser's options. check your browser's options and set the option to show the dailog box if you click a hyperlink.

How to change property file contents during run time?

Hi everyone. First post so go easy on me please.
I have a couple of properties that I want to read from a from a file. To achieve this I simply use:
ResourceBundle.getBundle("my.package.MyItems").getString("MyProperty");
This works like a wonder. The problem is, i want to change the property "MyProperty" during runtime. I've found the properties file (MyItems.properties) inside weblogic, but if a change its contents it does not reflect in the application.
I can come up with a couple of justifications:
* I'm not looking in the right folder/changing the wrong file in the server;
* Weblogic caches the properties file, meaning that I have to redeploy the project (defeating the purpose of actually having a properties file).
Can anyone help with this one?

* JDeveloper 11.1.1.4
* Weblogic 11.3 (not 100% sure)
* Both JDev and WebLogic running on Windows 7 64 bits

I tried it all.
Just an explanation of my context.
I have 1 application with 2 projects in it. First project is called "CommonUI_ViewController" and the second one "FO_ViewController".
The properties file I'm trying to change is located inside "CommonUI_ViewController", in package "PropertiesConfig" and the file is called "PhaseListener.properties".
"FO_ViewController" is dependent on "CommonUI_ViewController". When I run "FO_ViewController" the integrated weblogic server log shows this (among other things):

I tried changing the properties file in the following locations:
* D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\FO_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\lib\adflibSPVCommonUI.jar > PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties;
* D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\lib\adflibSPVCommonUI.jar > PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties;
* D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\classes\PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties (no need to open any jar/war to get to this one).
I changed all these files with different values but no change was shown in the application (using the method in the previous post).
I believe that I'm still doing something wrong :/

How to import mpeg files downloaded from a Google Drive?

I recently downloaded 18 large clips of a recital which were in .mpeg format. iMovie refused to import any of them. Is there a way to do it and make a movie out of them? The combined files total almost 2 GB.

a) the standards of videoDVD allow only 480i (PAL: 576i) - so, somewhere in the workflow, camera>>edit>>disk-authoring, the resolution has to be conformed to that standards.
b) size (MBs/GBs) doesn't matter in disk-making, but length (hh:min:sec). Due to the various conversion processes which take place in the making of the disk, the file-size of you project has no relevant info. Just its length. A normal, single-layered DVD fits up to 1h in perfect quality, 2h in acceptable quality, and if the authoring apps supports it, you can squeeze literally 'hours' of video onto a single disk... with tame pic quality...-
so, silly example, a 1080/60p project, 90min, exported as proRes -Master could be 60, 70, 80GBs in size - but fits onto a 4.7GBs DVD-r ..
