E72 locked to Telus Canada

I have had e72 for about 2 years in Canada (contract with Telus) I hve just moved to Brazil and would like to use the e72 here. But i find it will not accept the local SIM card.
Telus canada have told me they are unable to unblock the phone - or even suggest how to do it. I tried to buy unlock code from /www.unlock-phone-online.com/ This cost me $45 - then nothing delivered after 2 mth. So this site at least seems to be a scam.
The e72 is now essentially junk!
In similar circumstances I  have successfully unlocked Nokia, Motorola and Samsung Phones previously but this seems to be bad news. Does anyone have good ideas how to reslove this or do i learn by experience and never buy another Nokia?
Thanks for your replies,

Thanks you for your reply  - This is also what I thought would happen.
Maybe the information below will help other people to avoid assuming that this is the case and then being dissappointed.
Or maybe you can see some miss step in my trail...
Rgds....
For your first point - See below dialogue with Telus& Clearwet.
For your second point - I had contacted Nokia here in Rio earlier today  :
a) store people dont handle it so they gave me contact for NOkia Care centre
b) Nokia Care Centre (another third party company by the way) say they cant help because we dont know if its stolen or something...
SO Back to square one (or catch 22 if you prefer).

Hi Debi,
That’s curious – because when I put a local SIM card in the phone it just displays “SIM card not valid !”
Do you think there is any solution for this ?

HI Debbie,
I am actually transferring to Brazil and now have a local cell phone – I will only use the Canada number for another day or two.
Would you be able to supply an unlock code for my Nokia E72  (serial number is 356030031672774 ) so that I can  keep on using the handset here?
Please also advise what formal notification you need to cancel the 403 560 5854 number? I want o keep it active for a few more days.
Best Regards,
Jon

    What are you asking here?
Only the carrier that the phone is locked to is authorized to unlock it.

You can encrypt your memory card with a password. Be carefull though, if you forget the password, you have to reformat the card and you lose all data.

  • I have a telus iphone, my front face cracked and i brought it to an apple store and got it replaced. Would Apple give me a telus locked phone or would it be unlocked?

would Apple Store give me a locked to Telus phone after I had it replaced for a refurbished phone

It would be a Telus locked phone.  You get EXACTLY what you bring in.

  • Is it possible to switch Telus SIM card in Canadian iPhone4

I have a new iPhone4, purchased Dec.17/2010 in Canada from Telus. The Telus SIM card was inserted at the store at time of purchase. Since I frequently travel to the USA, I called Telusmobility tech support and asked whether the phone is locked or if it was possible to insert a US based carrier's SIM card while in the US so that I could avoid roaming charges. I was told the phone was not locked and that, yes, I could insert another SIM card if I liked.
However, I then stubbled across this Apple support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
It clearly states that the iPhone is locked by all Canadian carriers and that none of the carriers offer authorized unlocking.
I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. I don't want to buy a US SIM card only to find out that it doe not qork in my phone and I have wasted my money.... or worse yet, insert an AT&T SIM card into my phone and end up with it being locked to that carrier.
    TIA!

I suspect your phone is in fact locked to Telus. You can easily verify such by inserting any other carrier's sim in your phone. Doing so will not lock your phone if it is officially unlocked. If you get any error messages(sim not supported), this will confirm your phone is locked to Telus. No error messages, your phone is unlocked and you're good to go. If your phone is locked, only Telus could authorize its official unlocking.

  • Refurbished 3G S Unlocked in Canada?

I bought my friends iPhone 3G S off him. He said he'd been using it with Bell (whom he's with). When I got it, it wasn't jailbroken. I put my SIM in and it didnt work. Apparently it's locked to Telus.
Now on HowardForums, there's the claim that refurbished units from the Apple Store aren't carrier locked. When you put the SIM card in for the first time in the store, THEN it becomes locked to that carrier. Is that the case? (like does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of this?)
If so please let me know, my headphone jack goes in and out and I can warranty it under that. Thanks!

ALL iphones sold in Canada are carrier locked & NONE of the Canadian carriers offer unlocking.

  • HT201328 Hi there, I purchased an Iphone 4S, it is currently locked with one carrier, I am in a contract with another carrier. I am trying to unlock the phone, but the Carrier says I have to activate it through them to unlock it. I so not want to do that,

Hi there, my daughter purchased a used iPhone 4S from a local newspaper who has had it in the lost and found for nearly a year, and no one ever claimed it. It is locked with Telus, my daughter is a Virgin Mobile customer. Telus told me they will only unlock it if she activates it with them, she cannot do that as she is in a contract with Virgin. Is there anything I can do to get around this problem?

Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. In
this case, you must work with Telus. If they have a pay as you go
plan, activate the iPhone on Telus that way and then after
you meet whatever requirements Telus has, stop using Telus
and move the iPhone to Virgin. Or sell the iPhone to someone
who can use it on Telus.
Telus is the only one who can unlock that iPhone.

  • If i get an iphone5 and activate it through Telus my current provider can i switch to Bell in a few months

If i get an Iphone 5 from the Apple store and activate through telus ( i have a few months left on my current contract need to be with bell when i switch companies), can i later switch to Bell without any issues.

Yes, if you pay full price for the unlocked model.  Make sure you get it unlocked.  If they put the Telus SIM on the same receipt as the phone the phone may get locked to Telus.  They will give you the SIM free but don't let them include it on the phone's receipt.

  • Web access using Macbook and cellphone (Telus)

I have a web-enable cell phone that I would like to have my Macbook use to access the internet using Bluetooth to communicate with the phone. I'm running Mac OS X (10.5.3), the phone is an LG Chocolate and my cell carrier is Telus (Canada).
Has anyone had any luck with this?
    null

It sounds to me like your ISP only allows one PC per internet connection. This can easily be solved by spoofing the MAC address of your Windows XP on your router. So to the ISP your router looks like a PC, and the only PC on the network. I can't be certain that this is your issue as your across the pond.
You should contact the place you purcahsed your MacBook, or call Apple - I am sure they would be more than happy to send you a Hardware Test CD.
    Good Luck!

  • App Catalog - can't see paid apps (unl Pre Plus (AT&T) in Canada)

I have an unlocked Pre Plus (AT&T).
I used a Telus (Canada)  3G SIM to perform the unlock (code was provided when I got it), and after fixing the carrier settings db3 file, I've got it running on Telus' 3G network. Phone and data work great, but I can only see the free apps in the catalog, none of the paid ones. Even if I manage to direct link to a paid app, it says I need an OS update (I already applied the 1.4.5 update), or 'not available in your region'.
Please Palm, let me give you my money! If left unbought, those Birds will only get Angrier!!!

    Hello there, carlafromswisher.
One thing that could be playing a roll in your issue might be the Country your App Store is set to. In this case, the apps may be available in the French store, and not the US store. The following Knowledge Base article offers up how to change the country of your Store:
Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6119
Change your country on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Tap iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store.
At the bottom of the Featured page, tap Sign In.
If you're already signed in, skip to step 5.
    Tap Use Existing Apple ID.
Enter your Apple ID and password and tap OK.
    Tap your Apple ID.
Tap View Apple ID or View Account.
    Tap Country/Region.
    Tap Change Country or Region.
Tap the Store menu and tap your country.
    Tap Next.
Review the Terms and Conditions and Apple Privacy Policy.
Tap Agree if you agree to the terms and conditions.
In the prompt that appears, tap Agree.
Select a payment method and enter your payment information.
Enter your billing address and tap Next.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Unlocking out of contract Bell-Canada iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 is currently locked to Bell-Canada.. It is now out of contract and I've already cancelled my bell account.. Now I want to unlock it.. But Bell is not offering unlock.. What to do????

    Hello Mahal1990,
I have the same problem with them and I do not intent on paying the penality fees because of this. I am now located in France and Bell doesn't even cover this area.
Why would I pay for a phone that does not work?
Could I have your name and address in case I need to go to court with this?
you can email me at : [email protected]
    Sincerely,
    Eric

  • HT3939 If I purchase an iPhone in Canada will the warranty still be valid in Australia, where I reside?

If I purchase an iPhone 5s in Canada will the warranty still be valid in Australia. The price difference is astounding - almost $200 different so it is a great saving even with GST cashback and currency differences. Are there other issues to be aware of - for example a CDMA vs GSM phones? Is this applicable to the 5s?
    Thanks

no - the warranty is only valid in the country in which the Iphone was purchased - if you need a repair you would have to ship the phone to someone in Canada who would ship it to Apple- Apple would ship it back to the person in Canada who could then send it to you
the 5s is a world phone which supports both GSM and CDMA - but there may be issue of bands supported or being locked to a particular carrier - i dont know if Apple sells locked phone in Canada or locked and unlocked phones in Australia - the Apple web site should list what models are sold where

  • Am I able to fix an iPhone 4 GSM without a warranty or a receipt?

I am in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I got an iPhone 4 GSM from my friend, which I plan to use if my iPhone 4S dies and I need a loaner. The iPhone 4 GSM is not jailbroken and it's locked to Telus Mobility in Canada. The iPhone is running iOS 6.1.
However, the home button on the iPhone 4 sticks almost every time I use it (closing running applications is a real pain since most of the time the iPhone doesn't detect that I've pressed the home button twice), and the phone occasionally resets itself for no reason. I didn't get a receipt for the iPhone 4 when my friend gave it to me and I don't have any sort of warranty for it.
Can I still get it fixed by Apple? Should I get it fixed by Apple or get a third party to look into it?

Apple is going to charge you some money to fix that phone, if you're just looking to use it for a loaner or temp phone and not a daily driver you could use the assistive touch Settings-->General-->Accessibility-->AssistiveTouch
That'll give you a softkey on the screen for a home button.

  • HT201328 Unlocking an iphone if not under contract any more

I ended up my contract and canceled my account with Telus Canada. They can't unlock my phone as I don't have an account with them anymore. Who should I contact to pay to have my iphone unlocked?

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can authorize it's unlocking.
If you do not meet their requirements there is nothing you can do.

  • IPhone 4 3G Connection Problems

    Hey all,
Since July 1st I have been through 3 new Iphone 4's and 2 SIM cards. The problem I have is when I try to use the internet though 3G. It will work once or twice for a few seconds in the morning, then it will either time out or just display the following messages "Safari Couldnt Open Page" or "Network Lost" and "could not activate cellular data network". I have called Telus (my provider) with no luck at all on the problem. I have reset every setting, I have installed software from new again, I have done everything possible. Wifi works flawlessly, but for some reason, my phone just doesnt want to connect to the internet using 3G. I know it's not my area and not my specific handset since I have had 3 of them. All 3 phones have been brand new and are locked to Telus, never been jailbroken or anything to that effect. Incase anyone would suggest to double check my APN settings, Telus does not allow their customers to access that feature, so it is not "shown" or available on the Iphones locked to Telus (which I obviously have). My phone always shows 4 or 5 bars by the way, and always says "3G". One interesting point is when I am able to catch a break and get a conncection, if I load my local radio station app and start streaming, i can then go to safari and my internet works just as good and fast as long as I am streaming, but that is only on the rare occassion that I can get on the net at all. So with all that said, does anyone have any suggestions at all?
    iOS 4.3.5
    Thank you!

i am on 4.3.3 with iphone 4 and have had that problem for almost a month now. I tired resetting all settings, resoted the firmware version and it didnt help, however, once i removed my simcard and reinserted it back in and worked fine for a couple of days, but then it went back to normal. it randomely connects to internet and randomely disconnects using 3g. no problem with wi-fi.
I am with Three network by the way.
is this some kind of hardware fault or software?
at least i am not alone, lol.
    please help
