E72 (north american version), to use in Europe/UK

I'm currently in the US and looking to buy a (less expensive) unlocked e72 (North American version - NAM) - and bring it to the UK to pop in a SIM when I arrive.  I've gotten different answers from the Nokia USA people, and I'd like to know if this will work completely there - calls, SMS/MMS, 3G, HSDPA.  The sole difference looks like:
E72-1 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 900/2100 HSDPA (Euro)
E72-3 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/2100 HSDPA (NAM)
Thoughts, experiences?  Any info is much appreciated!

You left out the E72-2 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900 HSDPA. This device will not give access to 3G networks in Europe and Asia. The E72-3 might give access to some 3G networks that use the 2100 MHz band.

  • N96 North American Version Due in October

I just checked Amazon and it lists the N96 (US version) as being in stock on 06 October. They have dropped the price from $1200 to $799 since the last time I checked (about 10 days ago).

It looks like they are simultaneously launching in several markets, it is supposed to be due in Europe late September or early October too.

  • Creative Zen USB 2.0 (North American Version) Charging While in Euro

Hey, so I'm going on a Euro vacation this summer and I'm wondering about whether or not I'll be able to charge my Zen while I'll be in the EU. Currently I have an AC Adapter htat has an Input of 00-240V, and I have no clue about electricity and the sort. My simple question is, with a plug adapter to fit the outlet, will I be able to charge my zen alright?

CHarging will be no problem. Europe has 240 volt.

  • Can I use a north american iPhone4S in Europe?

can I use a north american iPhone4S in Europe?

All iPhones can be used anywhere as long as you're willing to pay the high roaming charges.  To use it with a local carrier SIM card, the phone has to be officially unlocked.
FYI, there is no such thing as a "North American" iPhone.  Phones are sold by country.  It the US there are CDMA phones sold as well as GSM.  The CDMA iPhone 4S (not the iPhone 4)  (Verizon and Sprint) can be used in Europe GSM carrers on a roaming basis.  Verizon will unlock the GSM for use with a local SIM under certain circumstances.  Sprint does not.

  • Using a North American PowerBook in Europe (Istanbul, Turkey)?

    Hello,
My wife is traveling to Istanbul (Turkey) with work and she'll be bringing my PowerBook 12" with her. It looks like Istanbul uses the same electricity type as France (220V at 50 Hz with a double-pinned round plug) so I don't imagine there should be any problem plugging in the PowerBook while there as long as she's using the correct adapter to convert the North American plug-type to the type needed. We were in Paris last year and had no problems, so I'm thinking it should be the same with Istanbul, but would appreciate any advice anyone may have?
And, while I've never read anything definitive to confirm this, is it true that the power bricks that come with the PowerBook actually convert the power so as to be able to use it in different parts of the world (as long as you have a plug adapter)? Like I said, I've had no problems doing this in the past, so I assume this is true, but again, just wondering if anyone knows for sure?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

To answer this question you can always look at the label on the power supply (of any appliance, not just Macs). If it only says 120, it's only going to work on US-type power grids and you'll need a transformer too. If it says something like 100-240 volts, it's good anywhere in the world and you only need an adapter, no transformer.
My brick has labels on two sides and the voltage range is listed on only one of those, so if you don't see it, turn it around.
You might consider an adapter with a surge protector if the power quality at the destination might be unstable.

  • Using a North American iBook in Europe

I have a 600Mhz 14 inch G3 snow iBook. It needs a new AC adapter. It also needs to be able to work in France. What is the best way to equip this Canadian/North American iBook to work in both North America and France?
Will this product be of any help?

    Thanks!

Hi, Samuel. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
That one will work. So will Apple's, if you want one with the glowing ring.
You will need an adapter plug for the adapter so your North American adapter will plug into French outlets. Those who have traveled abroad say you can get these adapters in airport shops around the world. It will look something like this. I've even seen them at WalMart (in the luggage section, but I'm not sure you have WalMarts in Canada).
Apple sells the World Travel Adapter Kit, but that may be more than you need.
    Bon voyage!

  • Imac 20" N. American model to be used in Europe

I am having an iMac 20" come from Canada but I would like to know if they absolutely work here in Europe. Apparently there were manufacturing processes/decisions with the iMac G5 that lead those models to fail if plugged in to European sockets.
Of course, we all know that physically the outlets in North America and Europe are different but will the internal power supply handle the different electrical standards?
Can anyone verify, without a doubt, that the North American Intel iMac 20" will absolutely work in Europe, granted I will merely need an adaptor to fit plug into a European outlet.

Thanks. Here's the Apple link changing power supplies, and here is the Apple chronolgy:

    * August 31, 2004 — Apple releases an all-new iMac line, with both the LCD screen (17 or 20” widescreen) and computer (including power supply) contained in a 2” thin flat-panel housing, powered by a PowerPC G5 processor at 1.6 or 1.8 GHz, Serial ATA hard drive (ATA in the Education Model) and an Nvidia GeForce 5200 Ultra GPU. USB 2.0, FireWire 400, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet ports, a V.92 modem, a video-out port, an analogue audio-in jack, and a combination analogue/mini-TOSLINK audio-out jack (like the one in the AirPort Express units), as well as the power button, are all arranged at the rear of the unit. Apple boasts that it is the slimmest desktop computer on the market. The iMac G5 is available in three retail models (17-inch, 1.6 GHz is M9363LL/A; 17-inch, 1.8 GHz is M9249LL/A; 20-inch, 1.8 GHz is M9250LL/A) plus one education-only model that has no optical drive, no modem, and a more modest GeForce MX4000 graphics system.
    * May 3, 2005 — Apple releases "Rev. B", or the “Ambient Light Sensor” line (the name refers to a new light sensor on the bottom of the iMac that adjusts the glow intensity of the white pulsating sleep indicator light according to the ambient light). The entry model is now 17-inch, 1.8 GHz (M9843LL/A). The mid-model is 17-inch, 2.0 GHz (M9844LL/A) and the top model is 20-inch, 2.0 GHz (M9845LL/A). All models now feature 512 MB of RAM standard; the hard drive capacity is increased to 250 GB on the top model, with an option of 400 GB. Optional upgrades now include a double-layered 8x SuperDrive. All models now feature Airport Extreme wireless, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics chip with 128 MB of VRAM as standard. Also the 10/100 network interface has been upgraded to 10/100/1000. All models now ship with iLife '05 and Apple's new Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger”.
    * October 12, 2005 — At the “One More Thing” event, Apple released new iMac G5s (the "Rev. C", or the "iSight" line); a 17" display running at 1.9 GHz (MA063L/A) and 20" display model running at 2.1 GHz (MA064L/A) with:
    o A built-in USB 2.0 iSight camera
o A remote control called Apple Remote
    o 512 MB PC2-4200 (533 MHz) DDR2; expandable to 2.5 GB total memory
    o Slot-loading 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    o Mighty Mouse
o A PCI-Express ATI Radeon X600 (Pro for the 17" model and XT for the 20" model) graphics chip with 128 MB DDR VRAM
o Built-in media center software called Front Row
o Horizontal input ports rather than the less stylish vertical configuration.
o Thinner 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) flat panel housing with a curved rear housing
o Note: the built-in V.92 modem was removed and is now offered as the optional Apple USB Modem. The USB modem is available on the Apple Store website and also in Apple Retail stores.
o In February 2006, Apple discontinued the 17” iMac G5 and began solely selling a 20-inch iMac G5 for $1,499.
o The iMac G5 was completely discontinued in March 2006.
Good luck and please let me know if this is what you wanted,

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 which works on OS X 10.4 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Going To Europe From North American MBP- How To Charge

Hello, I need a bit of help understanding if MBP has a built in power converter. And do I just need to change the "plug in tip " with an adapter
    Thanks,
    Marc

The MBP's power adapter (the 'power brick') can use 100-240 V and 50/60 Hz, so it works pretty much anywhere in the world as long as you get a plug adapter to change your flat, two-prong North American plug to whatever is needed in your destination (in your case, the round two-prong European plug).

  • Use of North American FOB definitions as Incoterm

EDI X12 standard has the North American FOB definitions as Shipment Method of Payment and Location Qualifier.  How and what is the best way to define North American FOB definitions to conform to the EDI X12 standard?

    Hi David!
Did you find any information related to this subject? I'm looking for an answer on this matter as well.
    Regards,

  • North Americans Only. Europeans Not Allowed!

Has anyone managed to get InContext working out side of America? Particularly with a .co.uk or .fr or even a UK based .com address!
If Adobe insists on discriminating against the rest of the world by (currently) restricting InContext to North America... Surely, it should also restrict it's advertising / promotion to that region. Is just me or does anyone else think it's a gnats manipulative to "Shout from the rooftops" to all and sundry (Europeans included) about this all singing, all dancing wonderful new technological addition to dreamweaver that's going to revolutionize our lives. Yet then add the cravat that says "Hey... Forget it unless live in North America. Even North Americans who have access to the service have rebelled over the fact that it might cost a bit... I could really go on and on... and on a bit more over this point, but I'll resist the temptation save to say that at least you (North Americans) have something to complain about.
Save a thought for us "erm Allies.." denied the chance to even evaluate the product. Despite being fed the same encouragement to buy it
"So what if you bought CS4 just for this much lauded feature! Suckers! Read the small print next time." This Is The Land Of The Free"... (to rip you off.)
On first blush, It would appear that Adobe's claims for this feature bring new meaning to phrases "Ramped-Up" and "Over-Hyped" even for those actually living in North America. I'm told, by those who know, that the product is a barely beta, prematurely released bug ridden mess at the moment that thinks that Spry is a misspelling of a popular soft drink.... but that's not the point. Even if that is the case, it's the seeming resurrection of segregation that troubles most.

Seriously, politics aside, what is the logical explanation for this move anyway? Living in europe I have a bunch of overseas connections concerning my work as web designer - from hosting services to every other imaginable service connected with web design like optimization and analysis tools - and I NEVER have had any problem whatsoever in using those services the way they were supposed to be used, and, honestly, given the nature of the world wide web network I seriously dont see any obstacles to put regional limitations to such products????
Maybe someone from adobe would be able to reason this adequately?
And the only company and product that from some peculiar reason is limited to north america only is from a company that one would really expect it to be able to make it global and also be able to thoroughly support it globally.
Instead the north americans got a beta version from what I hear and whilst I was considering it as a good possibility, even if it became payable, once they made it proper and working I bumped into befuddling piece of information that the service will be only available in n. america.

    Checkwriter/Deposit Advice:
Oracle will de-support the Live Checkwriter and Deposit Advice for US and Canada beginning with EOY Phase 1 in September. Archive Checkwriter and Deposit Advice will continue to be supported. What this means is that new code changes and bug fixes will not be tested on the Live Checkwriter and Deposit Advice. Additionally, enhancements made to the Archive version will NOT be made for the Live version.
*Note: If you would like to view the output of the archive version of this report without needing pre-printed stationery, try the following in a test instance:
    disable the trigger pay_action_parameters_ari
insert a row in pay_action_parameters with the following value -
    name=PRINT_REPORT_LABELS
    value=PAYUSCDA
    enable the trigger pay_action_parameters_ari
Run the report. This will print the labels and make it easier to check the report without needing pre-printed stationery.

    US Check/Deposit Advice XML
There are some additional dependencies for this patch that were not
originally communicated. Applying the EOY Phase 1 patch first satisfies
these dependencies. If there is a need to apply this patch prior to
applying EOY Phase 1 we are exploring possible alternative
pre-requisites and will send out a notice late next week with more
    information.
    * 11i one-off Patch 6399100 released 21-Sep-2007
    * R12 will be part of Release Update (RUP) 12.0.4
Oracle will de-support the Live Checkwriter and Deposit Advice for US
and Canada beginning with 2007 EOY Phase 1. Archive Checkwriter and
Deposit Advice will continue to be supported. What this means is that
new code changes and bug fixes will not be tested on the Live
Checkwriter and Deposit Advice. Additionally, enhancements made to the
Archive version will NOT be made for the Live version.
    Desupport of Standard Tax Interface
Oracle no longer supports the Standard Tax interface. Taxes will
continue to be calculated and tax rate changes from the Vertex Data
Updates will continue. New code changes and bug fixes will not be tested
on the Standard Interface and we cannot guarantee that all functionality
will continue to work. Additionally, enhancements made to taxes will NOT
be made for the Standard Tax Interface. We strongly recommend that you
upgrade immediately to the Enhanced Tax interface.
