I also have a problem removing Hotmail from the Nokia E72.
I had used the Nokia Messaging to create mailboxes for Ovi Mail, Yahoo mail and GMail on the E72 (I recall the Yahoo mail was creating using the built-in Nokia Messaging, while the Ovi Mail required web access / 3G/GPRS to created, Gmail also created with built-in app).
However, I didn't create a Hotmail mailbox on the cellphone. It appears to be automatically created when I installed Windows Live Messenger for Symbian (from here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/windows-live ).
I was testing the Windows Live Messenger for S60 (I didn't register for a Hotmail email but used another email address).
After removing the Windows Live Messenger, the Hotmail mailbox is still there, now replaced with a "?" icon.  The Hotmail mailbox isn't listed in the Email Settings (only Ovi Mail / Yahoo mail / Gmail mailboxes are listed), so I can't find a way to remove the mailbox.
The Hotmail mailbox seems to be different from the Ovi / Yahoo / Gmail mailboxes since it appears on the top line. Also, there's a single Hotmail message "Windows Live Hotmail Services - Welcome to Windows Live" -- I can view the "list" view (message subject headers) only but can't "enter" the message to view the message content.
How do I remove this Hotmail mailbox?
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem but with a gmail account through SEVEN systems on an E71. After uninstalling and reinstalling SEVEN (in an effort to remove inactive mailboxes) I now have 3 blank duplicate mailboxes with question marks next to them which I have no idea how to remove. If i reinstall SEVEN then I am able to open the mailboxes, though they are empty and not active (they are all for the same account). When I go to Messaging>Settings>Email and highlight the mailbox I am only given the option to edit rather than delete.
I am really frustrated, any assistance would be gratefully received

  • E72: Removing Email account from a restore and lar...

I removed all my push mail accounts and went manual because my battery life is longer that way. I also purged my account from email.nokia.com. Recently, my IMAP mail from google stop working. I thought it was because of some corrupted data in the phone, so I tried removing and recreating the mailbox numerous times, reboot and all but nothing works. It simply doesn't get mails past a certain date/time.
I did a hard reset, shift+space+backspace+poweron and re-setup everything. I still encountered the same problem on my E72. So I did a restore using the Ovi application. Nightmare begins.
I restored the 'push mail' accounts which no longer exist because I have previously removed them from email.nokia.com. Now when I try to remove the mailbox, it says 'you need to connect to xx to remove it.' Obviously I cannot connect because that account no longer exists. And the 2 mailboxes spam me with prompts for passwords and neither can log on. I had to hard-reset again and setup everything from scratch thanks to this stupid problem.
I eventually traced the problem to 2 emails which are exceptionally long. People just reply and reply and reply until the mail became about 20 pages long. Let's say I have 30 mails in my gmail 1-30. Mail 10 and 15 are the long ones. If I sync, it will only retrieve 1-9, then get stuck there. If I go to gmail to delete 10, it will sync until 14 then get stuck there. When it is 'stuck', it just connects and disconnects right away, without attempting to retrieve my mail 16-30.
I tried again using pushmail. Push mail works with that large mail 15 probabaly because it is retrieved server-side.
Please advise. How to solve these issues? It is quite frustrating... I don't want to use google's gmail application because you can't save attachments with that. And PDFs all become text files in gmail app's viewer.

Open Mail on the old laptop and in the Accounts section of its preferences click on your email account and then on the "-" button at the bottom. Then go into the User/Library folder and delete the Mail folder to remove all the old emails.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Removing email accounts on one computer but not wanting to remove on all computers on the same network.

I have a MacPro desktop and a Macbook Pro.  I would like to remove my apple email account from the Macbook Pro but do not want to take the chance of losing the same account on my MacPro desktop.  They use the same internet connection and network.  Can I just remove the apple email account on the Macbook Pro?  Both computers are using OSX 10.9.5.

I'm assuming the account is IMAP. You can safely remove any IMAP account and all data will be left on the server for other devices.
When you check to disable, the account will simply gray out and no longer connect.

  • How can I remove email account from an iphone but leave it on another?

    Hi
Can anyone advise me if I delete an email account from one iPhone will it still be available on another iPhone.  I've upgraded my phone but am giving my old iPhone to my husband but want to remove as many emails to save on memory for him, but when I delete from the old iPhone, the same emails are deleted from my new iPhone.
I have seen that the account can be deleted, but don't want to delete it without knowing whether it will leave the account still on my new iPhone.
Has anyone had experience of this, and can you advise me what I need to do?
    Many thanks

    Hi
Thanks for your reply.  I just didn't want to select "delete" without checking it out first...
I'll give it a go later.

  • Files related to removed email accounts are not deleted.

Thunderbird (currently 24.6.0, Windows) current Account Settings window shows Local folders and RSS folders for rss feeds. I used to have 2 email accounts, but a long time ago I stopped using Thunderbird for them. At that time I removed them using the "Remove account" button. They were (and are) no longer displayed.
The other day, I went to transfer Thunderbird settings using MozBackup to another system. On that system I could see the two email accounts (including mail messages).
Then, I checked in the Thunderbird Profile folder in Application Data. The accounts were still there.
So my question is - How can I completely delete the old email accounts. I read elsewhere that the primary email account cannot be deleted. But can the account sub-folders in the Profile folder be deleted without causing other problems?

    Folder
    mail \server name
    IMAPMail\server name
Deleting the server name folders removes any residual mail for an account.
Note deleting such a folder for an active account is something of a disaster.
see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_deleted_mail_accounts not what you ask, but explains folder naming a little

  • Cannot remove email account

I am trying to remove one of my Palm Pre e-mail accounts and it will not remove completely.  I have now tried 5 times and have reset the device twice.  It looks as if the account was partially removed, but it still appears in the list of accounts on my main screen and in the Preferences & Accounts page.  The only box that now appears under the account is the Outbox.  There's nothing in it.  My last attempt to remove the account was about 30 minutes ago.  It still says "Removing Account..." and continues to spin.  I'm fairly sure it will never finish.
The account I'm removing is a POP mail account.  The reason I'm removing it is because my Trash folder had become so bloated.  It contained about 4200 items at time of removal.  I'm hoping someone at Palm will eventually wake up and provide an Empty Trash command (or better yet, an auto empty feature).  I suspect this is the only e-mail software known to mankind in which you cannot empty the trash.  It blows my mind.
Anyway, my main problem right now is this account that will not go away.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there a solution that does not involve a hard reset?
    Thanks in advance...

    UPDATE:
After a mere 6 hours, I finally got a notification that the e-mail account was removed!  And indeed it is now completely gone.
Silly me for being impatient!  So let this be a lesson for anyone else deleting a "large" e-mail account.  It could take a REALLY LONG time to remove an account.  I suspect my 4200 messages is small as compared with some power users out there.
    Note to Palm:
For starters, it would be nice if there was a warning that account removal may take a long time.  Also, it seems to be done in the background, so there's no reason for the user to hang around waiting.  You can even quit the email app (I guess).  Beyond this, I have to say that it is absurd that removing any e-mail account should take over 6 hours.  Clearly something is fundamentally wrong with the way the data is stored and/or deleted by the e-mail app.  As a user, I think it's reasonable to expect such an operation to take no longer than 1 minute.

  • Problems removing email account in phone N80

    Hello,
I seem to have 2 of email accounts in one. On my Vodafone mail I seem to have got my Gmail emails which are quite big. Would anyone know how I can remove Gmail. I thought I had removed Gmail but I am still getting emails.
    James

    jamesfirst,
Let me start by saying that you may have inadvertantly done something when setting the email accounts up, not sure what exactly, and maybe not even your fault mate.
As for how to resolve, the easiest solution seems to me to be to remove ALL email accounts from the phone & then put back on the one you want.
I had to do this after a firmware upgrade so I know it's easy enough to do.

  • Remove email account

Will you share your experience how to remove the account, please? I contacted Motorola support, even they couldn't help. So I have the account stuck there.

        Hi serzhoo,
No problem! We can definitely help with how to remove an email account from the S3. If you go to Apps > Settings > from the Account section, select Email > POP/IMAP account > Remove account > Remove account. Hope that helps!

  • Removing email account, but keeping contacts and calendar

I have a work email account setup on my iPad. I have changed jobs and would like to delete the old work account. Is it possible to remove the old email account, but preserve the contacts and calendar information?
    Thanks

Same happening here. Contacts and calendars sync between 2 Macs OK using iCloud. iCloud syncing with iOS devices worked well until Monday afternoon 12/19.
Since then (3 days) mail, contacts and calendars in my iCloud account do not sync to iPhone 4 and iPad. Photo Stream OK.
All software is up to date. Wiped iPhone and started fresh. Still syncing is broken.
OmniFocus, Evernote, Gmail, Dropbox sync OK. Safari works too.
Attempts to delete iCloud from iPhone stall at spinning pinwheel.
Likewise attempts to disable calendar and contacts services stall.
Seems this problem relates to iCloud security on iOS gadgets.
    Still out if sync.

  • Removing Email account whilst keeping email messages

    Hi,
I would like to remove an email account whilst keeping my old email addresses that arrived through that email account.
How do I ensure I keep all the old email messages?
    Thanks

Ok I already have a mac account setup. I have all the messages from the original email account go into folders "on the mac". Does that mean the messages are safely stored on the MAC and when I delete the account the emails will stay in the folders?

  • Removing email account

If I remove an email account from my iPad, will it automatically be removed from my other devices iPhone and iMac?

Thanks a lot. I'm not synching email to iCloud, so no worries about losing my account anywhere else.

  • How do I permanently remove email accounts from firefox sync on Android ics?

I have 10 email accounts and would like to sync them all - unfortunately being new to Android and Firefox sync I started with Googlemail so I already had installed a couple of Google mail accounts when I found the Firefox options which were much simpler. I find I've now 2 email accounts each with the same 2 addresses. I thought I'd start again - i ditched Firefox on my Neuropad and unsynced my desktop, re-installed firefox on my neuropad but all the accounts reappeared. Please advise..

Thank you so much for tolerating the confusion I created for myself. YEA
About the "enter email address" ... gee, how did I think Firefox was going to be able to communicate with me?
So... I go to the AOL mailbox, sign in as usual, the little box is coming down, and I click on save ... ah ha
If I am on another computer, I will open Firefox ... enter the master password ... and move on as usual? ... because all this is on Firefox servers.
Small confusion ... scenario ... I am to work on a computer without Firefox installed, and I may not install it. What do I do (say, to get on Yahoo mail) or anywhere else?
    Thank you many many times.

  • Removing Email Account - but not messages

I recently changed from provider V to C so I no longer want to get mail for V. Yet it does, every time (I see in Connection Doctor) and occasionally asks me for my V password despite having unchecked 'Include what automatically checking for new messages'.
I have also found if I uncheck ' enable this account' that the V messages are no longer available (of which there are 50,000+ distributed throughout 50 mailboxes).
I'd just like it not to check for V emails anymore.

Well, if all you want is Mail to not check for new mail automatically on this account, you can just turn OFF Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Include when automatically checking for new mail.
That said, you can create custom “On My Mac” mailboxes, and move there all the messages currently stored in the account’s mailboxes.
Whatever you do, make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder first, just in case. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example (quit Mail first).
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • How do I remove an OWA email account from my E71

I need to work out how to remove a OWA email account from my E71. I have seen various replies for removing email account but not for OWA.
I have already looked in Installations --> Emailon3 --> but the account I want to delete is not listed there.
Have also tried Communic. --> Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> E-mail --> Options --> Delete but the delete option is not there.
I need to remove the account because I changed my account password at work and then was unable to update the password in the phone, I had to install the account a second time to get it working again. Any suggestions for avoiding this in the future also gratefully received!
    Thanks!

In the Messaging application, it seems from your description that you didn't go deep enough: Options > Settings > E-mail > Mailboxes.
There choose/select/highlight the mailbox you wish to delete and hit 'C' (or Options > Delete).
