E72 sync Outlook, Ovi-Suite problem workaround

All began when i lost my E71...
... i bought the E72 and connected it to my pc and voila the synchronization worked perfectly.
The joy did not last long, as every time i connected my Nokia to synchronise the synchronization failed with the crash of ovi-suite.
How ever, after reinstalling Ovi-Suite, reinstalling firmware, checking for firewall/antivirus issue and reinstalling/updating drivers i found the reason why the synchronisation didn't work.
After a computer startup and connecting the E72 over usb, the computer recognize the E72 and installs the drivers(!). In the same time the E72 asks for the mode, in this case the PC-Suite mode.
Confirming tree times (without a confirming sound) the synchronization will not work.
Workaround:
- Automatic synchronization has to be off
- disconnect the E72
- wait some seconds and reconnect the E72 (there will be the message for recharging and the question for the connection mod (with sound))
- confirm the PC-Suite mode
- initiate synchronization
Hope somebody can help me with this issue
Thx

okay, so I've had my e72 since February, but I only just finally got around to downloading ovi suite on my PC. installation was fine, then it came to the part where it says to connect the phone, so I did that, but nothing happened. the thing on the PC said that I should select 'ovi suite' or 'PC suite' when it appears on the phone, but the home screen was blank. i've tried connecting it many times and still nothing. the phone lights up when i connect it to the computer, but it doesn't prompt me for the connection mode. i've checked the settings (currently on usb conn. mode: PC suite / ask on conn.: yes) but it's not asking me on connection, nor is there any indication on the ovi suite program that it is connected.
help please?
p.s. sorry for the novel
Do not use OVI Suite.
Set the handset's USB port to "PC Suite", and only use PC Suite for any communication with your device.

  • Nokia 5230 Cannot Sync with Ovi Suite

Every time I connect my phone to my computer to sync up  with Ovi Suite and click on sync, it doesn't sync and a message pops up to tell me to reconnect or fix the Bluetooth. This has been happening to me ever since I got the phone 3 months ago and only once have I properly synced up my phone with my music (which now doesn't work either and doesn't pick up on the files on my memory card that I added through syncing with Ovi Suite, and every time I connect with the setting of mass storage it tells me I don't have enough room or shows the files ) I would like to restore it to the original factory settings but I have some important files on my phone that I would like to back up before I do that.

  • Sync Issue: E72 Sync with PC Suite / Ovi suite ove...

    Hi!
I am a new user of Nokia & just bought a E72. I have a nagging issue with Sync'ing the mobile with PC. I boot up my PC (Vista SP2), connect the Phone over USB & sync using  PC Suite / Ovi suite without any issue.
But once I disconnect the Mobile from the USB sync Cable & connect the phone back to it. It can no longer connect over USB. If I enable Bluetooth, the  phone would be connected to PC Suite / Ovi suite over Bluetooth.
Since I don't want to connect over Bluetooth as it's slow, only option left with me is to reboot the PC and then connect the the phone back to PC suite or Ovi Suite over USB..
Though, this appears more of an issue with Windows Vista, but just wanted to to know if anyone faced the same problem & have been able to find a solution to this problem.
    Thanks

I suggest you reset your phone first: *#7370# 12345 reformat, lose all data.
Then, Uninstall all the Nokia related software (drivers etc...) with a program like "Revo Uninstaller" or Nokia Uninstaller. Then use a registry cleaner. Reboot the PC or laptop, install the latest version of Nokia PCSuite and when the program asks, connect the phone.

  • Syncing issues, Ovi Suite on Windows 7: Some sugge...

Hi. I was complaining on my twitter about Ovi's last release and someone asked me to report about my experiences here. For most of the issues I did a workaround by myself but I think that I'll not be the only one reporting them and experiencing the same problems, so I'd like to show my thoughts as a suggestion for the next releases.
When I started Ovi Suite after the installation to explore the changes, I had a massive system slowdown and I'm running a Core 2 Quad! Then I realized that Ovi was indexing ALL of my PC musics and photos, including subfolders.
Ok, that's what the software was designed for, the problem is that I have over 30GB of images on my Pictures folder and 22GB on Music. I never checked to immediate syncing when my device is connected neither search my local library, but I just clicked on Music tab and my PC went to a extreme slowdown, NokiaMServer.exe on top CPU usage and crashed. It got worse when I connected my Nokia: It forced to sync the entire 22GB Music files on a 8GB SD! Someone missed a condition there to check if the device has enough space!
I'm not discussing how I sync my music files but I download a lot of 320kb bitrate songs which each one has 11~25MB so as my headphones won't play a louder sound than any 96KB AAC, I convert all that I want to hear on my device and just drag and drop with all of metatags including album covers, works for me. From now I'll put all of my converted files on a specific folder, sync with Ovi and keep everything organized BUT why the hell isn't there a screen asking me to select the default folders for syncing on the first run?
...And the same thing happened to my pictures, just a little bit worse. My system was crashing, Windows Explorer crashed, NokiaMServer went to 25% CPU usage on Task Manager because of thumbnail processing! Really, why the hell would I like to put my entire Pictures folder on my cellphone, especially huge files?
To stop Music indexing, I just selected all songs and deleted them from the Ovi's database/collection without messing with my iTunes library (though some metatags and album covers were corrupted) but for the pictures, deleting 35MB from catalog on my own computer lasted longer than using Bluetooth or the old Nokia Phone Browser to send a 100MB file!
Removing the folders from "folder-watch" or changing the library addresses over the Options should clean Ovi's library/collection but it didn't worked, Ovi kept adding pictures and songs. The only way to stop the ridiculous thumbnail processing (from pictures which I also moved to another folder just in case) was deleting "\AppData\Roaming\Nokia\Intellisync", "\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store" and "\AppData\Roaming\Nokia\Ovi Suite" and seting Ovi's to sync to another folder.
I know that there's a lot of people that don't put that amount of files on Windows default documents folders but I can't understand why this software is so slow for simple commands that other softwares can do better! Even the old PC Suite with Nokia Phone Browser was faster when copying or moving a file to another folder and now it's not even modifying or sending files, it is only reading and indexing!
So, I think that it's not much to ask to Nokia/Ovi developers:
    1. Let users choose the default folders for syncing BEFORE start syncing.
    2. Faster indexing and exclusion for Ovi's library. Don't waste time processing a half-screen-sized thumbnail, just show a 128x128 and if the user wants to see the full-sized picture, make Ovi launch system's default picture viewer/editor. After all, your own pictures don't have DRM...
    3. Nokia Music: Can someone explain me how to lock that damn scroll-bar? Because when I'm exploring my songs suddenly the bar goes back to the top! If you want to make a stylish scroll-bar, fine, but please, make it functional as a normal scroll-bar! Otherwise use system's default!
    4. Again about Nokia Music: Something I thought it was nice was letting users choose what application they wanted to use for syncing songs, because some legacy devices don't work with Nokia Music and transferring files from Nokia Music Manager was faster because you didn't had to change you connection type from PC Suite to Media Device. Fortunately for me, iTunes AAC format works fine to reduce disk usage on my devices, but it would nice if Ovi could convert songs for a smaller file size as Music Manager did.
     5. I'm also experiencing some random nokiaaserver.exe crashes without any Nokia application running at the same time.
That's all. I hope someone read it and understand my point of view.

use this version. it has most of the bugs fixed...
keep in mind that if you are using a win 764bit, there are still issues with crashing.

  • Ovi suite problem with V 50

    Hey all,
I have a nokia 5800 xpress music and I just update the software to V 50 using the ovi suite but I can't sync my phone with the program or to download new themes since then it keeps rolling and saying setting up, I tried to fix this by repairing and uninstalling ovi suite but it didn't work, I searched for an answer and I couldn't find one, so is this a public problem with no solution or what.
I like the new software although it eats the battery but it is cool, so can anyone help

I'm also having the same problem, although with a different phone, I don't think the phone model matters in this case.
Here are the steps I did :
Downloaded the Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 from the Nokia Canada web site.  To confirm whether it is the E72 phone or the PC that is the problem, I tried to connect from another computer with Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 connected to my phone, and from this other computer (a work colleague's computer), it was able to connect just fine.
On my PC, I had Nokia PC Suite installed previously, which I've since removed and then re-installed Ovi Suite several times, and tried Repair of Ovi Suite.  Nothing seems to work.
One observation that may be related, I noticed the "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" in my list of programs in Control Panel and removed it, rebooted many times (after uninstall) and after re-install (just to be safe), still no luck.  It looks like after re-installing Nokia Ovi Suite, it appeared again in the list.
Any ideas out there?  The message "Setting up" is where I'm stuck.  I'm wondering if I can try downloading an older version of Ovi Suite, or install a diagnostic program (or tool to cleanup the registry after removal of Ovi Suite)

  • 5230 will not sync with Ovi Suite

I recently factory reset my windows 7 laptop.  Since the reset, my nokia 5230 will not synchronise with the Ovi Suite.  I am using 2.2.1.23 of the Suite.  When I click on sync, nothing happens, it just does nothing, contacts sync is even greyed out.  I am connected via USB cable or Bluetooth but it is the same issue with both.  It somehow manages to show my sms messages without the sync.
One thing I have noticed, Windows 7 now does something different with my phone and it pops up and gives me Windows tasks to do from the 'Devices' part in control panel, this is not because I choose mass storage device when connecting.  I choose PC Suite.
I have spent the last 3 hours searching google, these forums and hard resetting my phone to try solve the problem, but I cannot find a solution.
I have attached a snippet.  Notice the icon next to the green Ovi one.  It is the new thing that windows is showing that it NEVER showed before.
    I am using 32 - bit windows 7.
    Can anyone help?

  • Memory card sync on OVI Suite

Can someone please tell me how do I sync my messages and music from my memory card to the OVI Suite.
    Thanks

For device slowing down you can take the following actions-
    1. Clear the browser cache.
    2. Move the content from the phone memory to the memory card.
    3. Take a backup of all the messages using Nokia suite & delete the excess so that you can free up some memory. In future do not let the message count to go beyond 500 so the phone functions remain smooth. Please note that depending on the number of messages the backup & delete may take even hours.
    4. Try using a theme that is smaller in size. The larger the theme size the slower the device becomes.
    5. If still the problem persists you can reinstall the current firmware using Nokia Suite. But do take a complete back up of the phone or else you will lose all your data. Also if you've set a password on the memory card & do not remember it then do take a back up of card content also as after firmware reinstallation you will not be able to unlock the card without formatting it.
Please mark the post as solution if it solves your problem.

  • Tired of OVI Suite Problems!!

Sorry to Moan, but is there any way that updates for the n97 Mini can be posted up somewhere else on the internet rather than having to suffer Nokia OVI suite and all its bugs!!!???
I am tired of.... "Cannot log in to Ovi Server....... Check your internet connection"...."Check your proxy settings"... "re-install OVI suite"..."check the firewall"..."check the antivirus"....etc.  Can someone in Nokia labs or otherwise re-write this piece of **bleep** so that it actually works with basic PC security settings and software???  Every other piece of software on my laptop and desktop works fine ... all of it..... except NOKIA OVI suite....
All i want is the latest country map for Ireland....

The contacts sync in Ovi cannot seem to recognize that an update in Outlook is later, does not enter it into "conflicts" and goes and changes Outlook (the old PCSuite used to have a setting that allowed updates only from Outlook to the device).
That is the setting I use and require for Outlook synchronization, so I use PC Suite exclusively for Outlook synchronization.   (Outlook to phone only.)
When I used Ovi Suite to synchronize the phone from Outlook, I lost data, and it took me hours to recover.   Then later, Ovi Suite also ended up in permanent crash mode, after a few more days of use.  So I completely removed all traces of it and installed PC Suite.
Will I ever trust Ovi Suite  with my data again?   No.
Does Ovi Suite have a clean built-in uninstall?  No.   So will I ever install it on a PC I care about?  No.
Would I choose a Nokia phone that only supports Ovi Suite for Outlook synchronization?  No.

  • Nokia 2710 sync with Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 not

    Hi,
I have even a small problem.
When I start the Nokia Ovi Suite and my Nokia 2710 Navigator plug in, the program recognizes the phone, it happens in addition to a rotating group "set up" and nothing more.
So I can not sync my mobile phone content. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance .....
    Steffen
PS: With the Nokia PC suite I can sync my mobile phone content easily.

    Could you please follow this?
. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
    2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
    3. Please search and download MSI clean up utility from microsoft website
Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
    Restart Computer.
Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
    4. Restart the PC
    5. Download and Install latest OviSuite http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite

Because it was on all of my 3 PC's with Vista and Windows 7 I believed it is because of changes on the phone which was working since one month without problems.
It also was regardless if I connected via BlueTooth or USB.
Anyhow, I started to deinstall SW on the phone which I installed last 2 days. but at the end I found the problem somewhere else:
On the day when problem came up I sent via bluetooth from my PC a text file to the phone.
This appeared in the Dialoge/Message listing like an SMS but the suite seem not to be able to handle it.
When I deleted the message on the phone the suite was working well again!
The weired thing was that even if I set the suite not to synchronize anything the error was generated which mean that it still scans some phone parts.
This post should help Nokia to correct the problem and you to avoid it!
    Greetings
    Franz

Same with my phone. Deleting SMSes helped. Thanks!
