E75 Mail and Destinations
Hello,
Does anyone know how to set up Mail to use Destinations? Can't see it anywhere, I have to keep selecting WIFI at home and 3G out. I don't get any signal in my house.

You need to install Birdstep Smartconnect. Its a free download and works perfectly. I have it set to 2 wireless connections (home & work) as 1st and 2nd priority and 3G as 3rd priority. It works well changing between connections seamlessly for MfE. It can confuse connections to browse. I'm experimenting with a Smartconnect destination for that also.
Once you have installed SC you will find it in your applications folder. You can set up a group of connections that you have already configured using the native destinations feature. You give the group a name, I used MAIL. Then you go to mailbox settings in MfE and in advanced settings you can set your access point to your new SC group. Perfect.

JaiFor the mail element to work properly, the Reports Server must know which outgoing SMTP mail server to send mail to. You specify this information in the Reports Server configuration file (server_name.conf located in ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf). This file has a pluginParam element where you can enter the name of a mail server. For example:

My Mac Pro takes long time to load mail and start applications
My 13-inch early 2011 Mac Pro runs very slowly, particularly when downloading Apple Mail and when starting applications.

Snow Leopard, Mail and Recovered message
I just installed Snow Leopard and every time I open Mail, it "Recovers" some message 2 or 3 times, I never had this problems before, it began the next hour after installed SL.

I run a private IMAP server I run on my home LAN - primarily for moving email between my Windows Live (Hotmail) mail folders, and Mac Mail. I use a PC to copy email from Hotmail to the IMAP server, and then the Mac to retrieve those messages (I'm also fairly new to Mac - well, the last time I used it in anger it was System 7!).
The private IMAP server is normally reliable, but occasionally a largeish file appears to fail to transfer from Mac to IMAP folder (never from PC to IMAP folder) - it then becomes 'stuck', not appearing in either the POP3 inbox, or the destination folder.
But - and this is the worrying part - Mail whirs away and 'recovers' the stuck email into a 'Recovered Messages' folder. A minute later it whirs some more and creates another copy of the SAME email in the same folder. A minute later and another copy is created.
This carries on - I've left it alone, restarted Mail, restarted the Mac, but each time it creates a new copy of the stuck email. I've seen 20 copies of the same email created. If left unchecked I could imagine it filling
I've tried moving the email out of the folder back into the POP3 inbox, into another IMAP folder, just deleting the messages and emtying the Mail trash - but each time Mail whirs away and carries on creating recovered copies of the same email.
The only way I have found to stop this from happening is to remove the account, restart Mail and then re-add the account for the IMAP server. It then downloads all the messages again and the problem is gone.
Is there just a way to remove the 'stuck' message, or tell Mail to ignore the recovered message so it doesn't create multiple copies?

It sounds like you would like to transfer your mail and mailboxes from one computer to another. I recommend exporting the mailboxes from one Mac and then importing them to the destination Mac. You can find steps in the following articles:

Very Odd Issue Using Mail and Comcast
I have been unable to send email from my Comcast email account in Apple Mail. It shows emails as having been sent fine, but they don't arrive at the other persons mailbox. I have tried sending test emails to myself, to no avail. I tried trashing the preference file, which cleared up the issue, only for it to return several hour (or even minutes) later. This issue is particularly annoying because one would never know it exists. All emails sent from this account appear to send fine, with no errors being reported, but never are sent. I can send emails fine from my gmail account using Apple Mail, and for experimental purposes I tried Thunderbird, which worked fine. The SMTP server is clearly not the issue. I tried other servers, including the local server, using RapidoSMTP, but still, the same issue. Just a note: I can recieve emails on that account, but not send them. My installed plugins for Mail are: AttachmentScanner, MailFollowup, and Growl Mail. If anyone can offer any tips on resolving this weird issue, please share them.
If Mail put the message in Sent, that means the outgoing (SMTP) server told Mail that the message would be delivered. If the message never reached its destination, it could be because the SMTP server didn’t fulfill its promise or because the message was filtered out by either the recipient’s incoming mail server or the recipient’s mail client for some (probably spam-related) reason.
Check that your System Preferences > Date & Time settings are correct. An invalid timestamp in the message headers could be the reason one of the servers involved is rejecting those messages.
It’s strange that the problem happens with Mail, but not with other mail clients such as Thunderbird, though. I can only guess there is something about the way the messages are composed/encoded when you use Mail that causes them to be considered spam at some point. If you compose those messages as Rich Text, try composing them as Plain Text instead. -

I work in a not-very-Mac-friendly school district, but use a Mac anyway. We've figured out how to open the correct ports, etc. for internet use (via Network Preferences) but still can't access email (on an MS Exchange server) or any POP mail (Yahoo) or .mac mail through the mail program. I'm guessing it's something with a port somewhere that needs to be opened. Any thoughts on what it might be, or how to open ports on Mail?

-WidgetFrom the client side, you don't need to open any ports in Sys Prefs Sharing at all. Opening ports there is only for dealing with inbound traffic that you didn't initiate and weren't expecting as a response to something, i.e., if you were a mail or web server. But you're not a server, you're a client. So close 'em. Plus, in Mail.app (or any other application for that matter), those port numbers (like 25 or 587 or 465 for smtp, or 110 or 995 for pop, or 143 or 993 for imap) are at the destination mailserver, not your computer.
If you launched Terminal.app, "su {adminUserName}" and "sudo tcpdump -i en1" (en1 if wireless, en0, if ethernet cable) you will find that when you launch Mail and try to check mail or send mail, stuff from your computer is leaving your machine on a randomly chosen (by Mail.app) five-digit port number and it's at the destination server where these port numbers (25, 587, 465, 110, 995, 143, 993) have any meaning. Same holds true for all applications, e.g. Safari, port 80 refers to the web server, not what port on which you are sending out your browser request to the server. The (mail, web, other) server responds back from its port (25, 143, ..., 80, etc.) port to the random port number that your application chose.
Your problem, most likely, is that your IT Dept is blocking outbound traffic destined for any "foreign" host addresses at ports like 25 or 143, that are NOT the host addresses of your IT Dept's own mailservers. They would be blocking this at their firewall to the internet. My work's IT Secret Police does this. So unless they relax their firewall restrictions, you're going to have to do something like use your cellphone as a dialup modem to access those mail accounts, or use webmail (since they probably aren't blocking all http (destination server) port 80 traffic -- although they could be blocking traffic addressed to specific host addresses like yahoo.com/webmail). -
I originally encrypted my hard disk. instead of just reformatting. I deleted hardisk entirely. Now I cant login. or do anything. I am in Afghanistan so internet is slow, so I cant reinstall lion software via internet. I cant send it in the mail, and there surely isnt a apple store around here. HELP!!
Didn't want to make you feel like an Idiot. Just pointing otu that most all externals come, these days, formatted NTFS as the world runs on Windows computers and at least the last 2 Win OS version will only install and likes to use NTFS formatted drives. So most drive manufacturers Pre-Format their drive in that format.
What do you mean "I'm Cloning Time Now"? I don't get the TIME reference?
You Clone the install of OS X from a working Mac to the External. The Cloning willl make that external Bootable (It will boot on like Mac computers).
Then when that is done disconnect that external and connect it to your Mac. Start your Mac and it should boot off that external. If it doesn't then Restart and hold down the Option key and select the external as the boot drive.
Once the your Mac starts from the external the cloning program should already by running as it was running whenn the clone was made. Select the external as the source and your internal as the destination. you may want to shut the cloning program down and first use Disk Utility to Re-Partition your drive as One Partition.
Hopefully that will get rid of the encryption you enabled and give you a clean freshly formatted drive to clone to.
Then start up the cloniing software and do as pointed out above. -
Mac OSX Mail and deleting "undeliverables"
We receive (too much) junk in our Mail program; normally we “bounce” it back but most of the time it comes back as: (From) Mail Delivery System; (Subject) Undeliverable Mail Returned to Sender. The normal next step has been to delete the returned mail, and then empty the trash.
We have two Mac minis. I run OSX (10.4.7) and Mail (Version 2.1 (752/752.2)).
On my wife’s Mac mini, over the last week plus, every time we take the delete/trash steps, the file pops back up in the Inbox. When we delete/trash the file again it immediately reappears in the Inbox.
I don’t want to trash the Account and start over because there is a lot of “good” mail she needs. Help!!

If the bounce doesn't reach the destination, it's just a waste of time and bandwith, plus a source of problems, because in all likelihood it'll be bounced back to you.
If the bounce reaches the destination, then it's even worse, because you're either (1) telling the spammer that your address is valid and that you're willing to spend time on his/her/its junk, or (2) contributing to the spammer's effort by sending his/her/its junk to the innocent whose address was stolen for sending it (and who, in turn, might end up posting in a forum such as this wondering why does he/she receive bounces for messages he/she hasn't sent).
So what exactly is the point of bouncing spam? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
OK, enough ranting. Back to the problem, to fix it you must re-create Envelope Index. Problem is, Mail may choke on those messages while re-creating the index, so either be prepared for that or perform optional steps 1 and 3:
1. (Optional, but recommended). Assuming this is a POP account, try to find in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/ the *.emlx files associated with the troublesome messages. Viewing the *.emlx files as List in the Finder showing the creation/modification date may help. Just identify them; do not get rid of them yet (you must quit Mail first).
2. Quit Mail.
3. (Optional, but recommended). If you found the troublesome *.emlx files in step 1, move them to the Trash.
4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
5. Locate the Envelope Index file and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
6. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/. Locate Deleted Messages.mbox, and move it to the Trash. I assume there is nothing to be preserved there.
7. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder. -

On all installations, including those with no e-mail accounts, Microsoft Outlook creates a default Outlook Address Book. The Outlook
Address Book consolidates all your Outlook Contacts folders. The Outlook Address Book is a virtual address book instead of a physical address book because Outlook does not store the Outlook Address Book as a file that is separate from your data store. The
Outlook Address Book provides a view to your Contacts folders.
Unlike the Outlook Address Book, a personal address book (PAB) is a physical address book that Outlook stores on disk that is separate
from your data store. You can add one PAB to an e-mail profile, and use the PAB to store additional contact information.
You can use the PAB to store personal addresses or to store other contact information that you want to keep separate from your other
Outlook data. Additionally, you can use a PAB to share addresses with other users. The PAB uses a .pab file name extension, and Outlook creates the PAB file when you add the PAB to your e-mail profile.
How to identify the PAB file that your e-mail profile uses
Start Outlook.
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Under Directory, click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click Next.
Under You can choose a directory or address book below to change or remove it, click Personal Address Book, and then

Note the path of your PAB file that is in the Path box. You will require this information to find the PAB file in step 3 in the "How to copy the PAB file to

Start Outlook.
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Under Directory, click Add a new directory or address book, and then click Next.

If you receive the The E-mail account you have just added will not be start until you choose Exit from the file menu, and then restart Outlook prompt, click OK.

Additionally, you can add both recipients and distribution lists to contacts that are in the Personal Address Book interface in
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

Hi i have recently purchased the e75, within 4 hours and my battery is empty. Also use mail and Bluetooth. Battery performance is very poor for business usage. Also have problems with syncing email. Sometimes no email will be synced, have to restart my phone than. Any others see the same problems? Can some help!!!

Go to Solution.One other thing, you might want to do is to purchase Handy Taskman (forgot the site address). This app will tell you what is active and running so you can individually close any apps that you do not want to run. By the way, if you have Fring installed, it will automatically default to start and run in the background. I can promise you for sure that Fring will kill your battery in less than one day.

Mail and Safari still freeze all the time-help
Even with the latest Mavericks updates, Apple mail and Safari freeze contstantly to the point that I can't send email or use Safari. I had after the initial mavericks release gotten mail to function by shutting off 2 Gmail accounts I had on my MacPro. After the update that supposedly fixed the Gmail issues, I turned on my Gmail accounts and Mail started freezing almost immediately on startup. Was able to get in and shut the accounts don again, but Mail keeps freezing. I even removed the Gmail accounts from Mail prefs, but that didn't help either. I can usually get Mail to launch and for the most part can read email, but if I try to respond, once i type and email and try to send, Mail freezes and I have to force quit. Once Mail hangs Safari hangs shortly thereafter or if it's not even launched I can't launch.
I have been using macs for a long time and have never had such a bad time with an upgrade. Have tried most of the solutions posted, and am baffled as to how to make things work.
Any suggestions welcome.here's your report with some comments in red:

My Book (disk4s3) /Volumes/My Book: 1 TB (155.85 GB free) Big Problem. WD drives have software (and firmware) on them which are incompatible with Macs. I would rip the drive out of this, erase it, and put it in another (non-WD) enclosure, smash the WD enclosure to bits with a sledgehammer, and mail it back to WD.
