E75 vs. E71x

I need some help in deciding wich one to get, the e75 or the e71x.
I could use some help.
Tnx.

Raptorjmc:
I personally bought got my E75 just two days ago and I really like it.  I must say I was very hesitant (picky by nature) and did a ton of research before spending my $300.  I never really considered the E71 because I'm not a big fan of the faceplate QWERTY set up like the E71 or Blackberries have.  On those grounds, it was aesthetics and convenience that won me over. The other phone I strongly considered was the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.  The E75 gives me a great deal of flexibility when typing and I like both, the standard ABC and slide QWERTY keypads.  I'm also am a person that doesn't like to charge my phone (matter of lifestyle), and I really took a plunge deciding on the E75 because it was touted as not having great "business-like" battery life, but then again, I'm not hardcore power user hooked up into 5 email accounts while syncing them every 10 minutes, WiFi/Bluetooth on, etc.  My main use for the phone is WiFi (Skype/Nimbuzz, Email, etc), Music (it has the 3.5mm jack so many others don't), and Document viewing with Realplayer videos (preloaded, not streaming).  Today is actually the day that I started to test the E75 battery according to my "normal" days (because the first day I was playing with it non-stop, testing out all the features and setting everything up, etc).  I'll update it tomorrow...

In my research I came across this link which is actually your subject heading.  I think it may help.  I personally didn't base my choice on the article, as there are many other, more substantial and qualitative reviews of the phones out there than this, it gave a good breakdown of the features.

  • E75 messaging application not working

    Hi,
I have recently purchased an E75 and at first glance it looks to be very nice. However, now i have run into the problem that messaging is not working properly. The message indicator is telling me that I have 6 new messages. When I try to go menu>>messages the application tries to open but immediately crashes. Also when I try to open the messages directly by clicking on them from the message indicator the same behavior seems to happen.
Has anybody experienced the same? How do I get rid of these messages if I can't open them?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I've had similar problems with my E75.
I've found that Nokia Messaging simply gets confused & over-loaded, and gives up.
Try accessing you email account from your computer.
Then, delete all of your messages from your inbox & sent folders.
Basically, purge as much as possible.
Then try accessing it from your E75.
    This usually works for me.

  • E71x ovi store and apps trouble

on my e71x i am unable to access the ovi store or apps.  when i open the link that had been sent to my phone for the app, it tells me i need to download the ovi store mobile app.  This has been done several times but then there is no way to open this app.  Is there any other way for me to access these apps or the store? if so please give detailed instructions

I was having the same problem.  I would download and install the Ovi store app and after it installed, I couldn't find it on my phone.
    I found a work-around on the AT&T support site.
    1. If you already downloaded Ovi Store from their website on your Nokia E71x you should uninstall it.  To do so go to--menu--settings--App.mgr.--Installed apps.--highlight Ovi Store--click options--Uninstall.
    2. On your PC go to this site.
    http://beta.www.getjar.com/mobile/30928/ovi-store- by-nokia-for-nokia-e71/?c=704x22186624
    3. You should see a small window asking what phone you have. If not, try clicking the tab that says "compatible phones". You are going to notice that the Nokia E71x is not one of the phones listed so just go with the Nokia E71.
    4. Click the orange "download app" tab on the right side of the page. A window will come up with instructions to download.  Follow the instructions to download to phone. There will be a code that you need to write down.
    5. Using your phone go to menu--media net--options(bot left)--go to web address--put in this address exactly http://m.getjar.com
    6. Once you get to that web address, scroll down until you see the words "Quick download code" and click on that.  It will then ask you for that code from step 4. Enter the code and click download. Shouldn't take long at all to download and install. When I was done, I switched off my phone and restarted it.
    7. Once complete with the reboot, there will be an Ovi Store icon/app(a blue bag) under menu--Games&Apps.
Just remember you will need to register an account with them.

  • Can't remove sim card from e75

Hi, I just bought e75. I need to remove my sim card, somehow, the card is stuck in the sim card slot. Could anyone advise me how to remove the sim card? The user guide book only show how to insert the card into the sim card slot, but did not mention how to remove from sim card slot.

It seems to be quite tight, indeed. But I was able to get mine out with a little bit of trying. First time I tried to remove it from my E75.
There're no latches or locks or anything that keeps it in place. I just pressed down hard on the visible part and tried to slide it down.
After a few attempts, it started moving and came out.
A pair of tweezers probably helps.

  • Help! E75 new firmware doesn't work!!

    I upgraded to 201.12.01 firmaware.
Now I can't make any calls ("call forbidden") and I don't receive any calls.
Also the phone's menu is very buggy: when I choose smth in the menu I get in the wrong page!
I made a hard reset. The phone worked well for 2 hours. But when I finished installing all the software - it broke again the same way ((
What's wrong?? Is there any chance to cancel that new "improving" firmaware?
How can I get that phone work well??
PS. It was the last time I bought Nokia phone. I think Nokia can produce only "simple" phone models, but not a smartphone..
PPS. DO NOT UPGRADE A FIRMWARE IN YOUR PHONE!!!!

yep i gave the same advice to my friends: do not upgrade the phone. at least until the bugs are fixed.
We were promised by a new firmware update coming today, my main problem is with my GPS, it keeps hitting me with no connection, like the phone is totally separated from its GPS receiver, it worked just fine before with the v110 firmware, and Nokia  totally removed the satellite status which i found really useful!!!
this firmware is a real screw up for NOKIA i always loved their phones and updates, hope they fix these issues soon, cause i really loved my e75

  • E71x Menu and writing languages.

I'm going to get my upgrade from AT&T soon, and so far the E71x has been the first choice. Now, I know that none of the AT&T phones besides the iPhone have support for languages aside from the typical English, Spanish and French, but I was trying to gauge how much of an endeavour it would be to install dictionaries and a menu language, specifally in German. Its not a total deal breaker for me, but it would be awesome to have spell check and auto complete in German since I have to type so much in German.
It hasn't been a problem for me since the last phone I got from AT&T has just been sitting in a desk drawer and I've been using the unlocked phone that I brought over from Germany, but I would really like to be able to use my upgrade this time.

if you are in the us then you would have to send your phone into the nokia care and request this service specifically, for them to install a language pack with the language you require. you will have to pay shipping and handling and any fee that the install would cost. also if you update your phone with another firmware or have to reformat your phone you will lose the language pack again. as it is not a part of the firmware itself. if you update then your phone will return to the default language pack that came with the phone.

  • Resetting a nokia E75

I have a nokia e75 and i forgot the lock code. It was changed from the original lock code of 12345. I've tried resetting using the codes but have been unable to enter them as the only option i have on start up is to enter the lock code. How do I fix this?

No offence, but how do we know that this is your device? You can bring it in to a Nokia Care Point to get it unlocked.

  • E71x problem, and a question about 'physical damag...

    Hiya,
Soooo I got the E71x in June, and I loved it, until about a month ago, it started frustrating me non stop.
    The phone will tell me that its battery is low after I've charged it completely, and have seen 5 bars worth of power for 30 mins;
it will turn off without shutting down, without alerting me
    it will freeze, and won't turn off with the power button--the only thing to do is pull the battery out;
it will tell me the sim card isn't registered and then turn off
    OR
    the screen will go blank, turn white, and display a message that says 'Insert SIM card' when the sim card is already in, and hasn't been moved or anything;
    the phone will die when I try to send text messages, call someone, or the first 30 seconds into a call;
whenever the phone dies on me, I have to pull the battery out & then turn the phone back on, and when I do so a ghost image of whatever i had been doing before the phone died (the text i was about to send, for instance, or the home screen, or the 'insert sim card' screen) will appear for a second, pixelate, then vanish.
I called AT&T, they do not believe that it is a charger or battery issue, since I've checked those anyway. My software is up to date, I've tried all the online troubleshooting tips. I've obviously dropped my phone before, who hasn't, but it was never anything *huge*, the phone never turned off because I dropped it, the battery never popped out, etc. It has fallen from my jeans to the floor, for example, that's about it. So there's no physical damage because of that. I have never gotten the phone wet;---the circle on the back of my battery is white, so it hasn't been exposed to liquid or heat or anything extreme. I don't think my warranty would be turned down for physical damage due to the above mentioned.
However, I have a question if anyone who works for Nokia reads these boards; my parrot removed the 'p' key from the keyboard--just the key, the pad underneath works fine and is untouched, i can still type the letter p and everything--but the 'p' key, just that one, is missing. I can't find it. Would I really be denied my 1 year warranty because of that? is there anyway I can buy a key to replace the 'p' key so that I could send my phone to AT&T? all it would need to be fixed is a tiny dab of glue. That's it. I will be very frustrated if I can't get my phone fixed within warranty because of that key; I would be forced to get another phone, and I don't think my choice would be another Nokia. Please let me know what I can do about this problem, it's getting ridiculous, I can't even answer phone calls without my first rushed sentence being 'my phone might hang up on you but i'll call you back' anymore.

hahaha no, it's not the e71x, it is a piece of popcorn she DEVOURED. She LOVES popcorn. MMMmmmmMMMM she says. Haha.
@FastTortoise, I think a parrotlet might be a good fit for you, they were my pick because they have the same personality as a parrot (spunky, loving, fun, funny, etc) but they're TINY, and VERY quiet (comparatively::they've got nothing on cats). Check out this site for more info http://www.talkparrotlets.com/forum.php my name on there is brittany_lynn, you might be able to get my email from that site or from this, lemme know if you have ?'s or anything
P.S. All birds need a cage, a parrotlet just needs a smaller cage.

  • E71x What can you do without ATT data?

    Hi,
I've had my E71x for a few days , deciding whether to keep it.  I've emailed a few posters, but decided to start a new thread
    - Background: I have data blocked on my ATT account as I want basically just to make calls and have all my MS Outlook data on my phone (calendar, contacts...).  I do not really want to read email on my phone (especially for a fee) as I'm on the computer all day long, but if I can transfer some email to the phone for occasional reference, that would be nice. I rarely message, don't currently want to watch TV on the phone, etc.  I can always add data later if I become addicted...
    - The phone synced nicely with PC Suite, but where did my email go?
    - Should I use the wizard to activate Xpressmail or Mail for Exchange?  (And CAN I with data blocked?)
    - Can I activate some email program that will not cost me and can be used via wifi?
    - Can I activate some email program that will allow me to view synced emails?
    - Does it cost to activate QuickOffice?
    - Will QuickOffice open Office files automatically?
    - I moved a few Word docs to the SD card in the phone, but I can't locate them in MyStuff. I can only see them in the file tree on the PC when connected.  How do I see what's on the phone if I make my ownd folders using file manager?
Well, that's a lot. any help getting started will help. I called ATT once and got a woman who could only read the text in front of her and seemed to know little. "Call Nokia" she said.
I guess that's it for now.  Any of your experiences will be appreciated.
    Nick

Your best bet would be to check out "howardforums"
There are plenty of threads talking about the E71x in the S60 section

  • How can I sync Google Calendar with my E75?

This is driving me insane. I've searched and searched and searched the web for a way to sync my E75 unlocked phone with Google Calendar. 90% of the threads and comments Google digs up simply say, "It doesn't work." Some people seem to have manged to get it to work with some very minor variations on the following directions:
    1. On the E75, press the Menu key.
    2. Select Email.
    3. Remove the Mail for Exchange mailbox (if it currently exists).
    4. Select New from the home screen of the Email application.
    5. Press Start.
    6. Enter a fictitious email addres that you know does not exist.
    7. Press OK.
    8. Enter a fictitious password for the fictitious email address.
    9. Press OK.
    10. Select Mail for Exchange.
    11. Type in your Gmail username/email address.
    12. Press OK.
    13. Leave the Domain blank.
    14. Press OK.
    15. Type: m.google.com
    16. Press OK twice.
    17. Type in your Gmail password.
    18. Press Log in.
    19. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    20. Select Settings.
    21. Select Personal information management.
    22. Select Applications.
    23. Select Calendar.
    24. Select Calendar sync (this will enable calendar).
    25. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    26. Select Settings.
    27. Select Mail for Exchange.
    28. Select What to sync.
    29. Select Sync email (this will disable email).
    30. Select Back three times.
    31. Press Options.
    32. Select Synchronize.
My problem is that my E75 Mail app doesn't have the Mail for Exchange option described in step 10. The rest of the procedure just goes down the tube at that point. After a great deal of research, I'm left with the impression that either something is wrong with my phone or these directions are out of date. Has anyone had recent experience configuring the E75 to work with Google Calendar either through MfE or through another (free) app?

     Hi there,
didn't read your complete rant, it's clear you've disappointed by substandard product and/or mismatching expectations, I on the other hand have had a exceptional good experience with my N95. It's reaching old age now, so I can't wait for the N900. However I do see Nokia has a challenge to overcome, well two actually. Yes you're right they're trying too hard to create some Nokia-bounded platforms, instead of facillitating the connectivity between platforms. Recently saw some intresting concepts in the beta apps, but they require a similar nokia app on the other side. Well I'm very sorry Nokia, nowadays I don't even know the number of the person I'll be calling, do you really believe I know (or want you to tell me = $$?) who of my contacts has this app enabled?  With some good will and some fantasy I could say it's a part of brandpositioning and solidifing (or some other fancy BS ;-) ). Nokia however also seems to have an issue with postdevelopment integration and streamlining of their apps. Developing apps as more or less seperate entities might seem a sensible develment strategy and it probably is when combined with good (read efficient and thus "cheap") projectmanagement.  If a contact has a birthday mentioned in contacts, don't you think I would want to see that in my calendar? If I try to be smart, I give the input myself, but then what happens? When syncing I get 2 birthdays is my outlook calendar ;-( Similar ennoying feat happens with GPS locations, I´m using serach address, use contactlist. Have a guess where I´d like the coordinates to go to when saved....no it´s not a new and seperate entry in favourites which in turn is read by the address book, these things should have seamless integration.  User experience and ultimately satisfaction cannot be achieved by solely developing series of new and improved functionalities,  cause to us,  the consumer it´s not primarily a functionality. It´s actually a person, either in direct communication or otherwise stored for future communication. As a producer of these communication devices Nokia should show they understand this, preferably through their products. Regarding your issue syncing with Google Calendar, I'm assuming you're already using the calendar. Why not download the Google apps app? Or if you only want the calendar, take the standalone calendar app, Basically you'll have a mobilized calendar view with most of the functionalities there. Can't be online indefinetly? Just save the page locally, nothing you can't handle ;-) The solutions with either MfE reconfig or syncing with outllook/windows calendar in the middle are feasible too, however you do need to be carefull when setting direction and/or dominance of the sync relation. Multipoint syncing can become a severe headache if you haven't set it up proparly..... I've also included a google info mail, they send me some time ago. Loads of info&links, I'm sure there's a solution there which will fit your needs

  • E75 : I can't connect my mobile to Nokia-Suite, Pc...

    Hi,
this week i missed the pop-up when i received a SMS on my E75 using Pc_Suite (last Build) on my Vista machine.
I decided to remove all Nokia software and reinstall them.
Since reinstalling, My E75 is not connectable with the cable (only Bluetooth works) despite my E52 and E71 connects without any problem.
    This is what i Did.
    - Uninstall al Nokia products (as described in the support page of pc-suite).
    - Run Pc-Suite Cleaner.
    - Reboot
    - Install Pc-Suite
    - Reboot
    - Connect the E75 with the cable
--> The Drivers were successfully installed but no connection is possible with Pc-Suite software despite the PC has access to the Nokia contents.
    - Unplug E75
    - Install Nokia-Suite
    - Connect E75
--> Drivers installed update but still no connection neither with Pc-Suite, nor with Nokia-Suite
    - uninstall Nokia Cable Connectivity
    - Download latest one
    - Install latest one
    - reboot
    - Start Nokia-Suite
    - Connect E75
--> Not seen !!!! Holly Sh.....
My E52 and E71 connect without any problem.
I've for the moment connected my E75 with BlueTooth but i don't like that.
    What could be the problem.
Do i have to Factory Reset my E75 and retry ? If yes, do i have to once again uninstall the software on my pc ?
I'm slowly turning mad, because the way i proceed is normally safe (i allways do like that and it works always).
    Any suggestion is hardly welcome.
Remark : I've teh last Software installed on my E75, but i do'nt have tried to reinstall that yet.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Taza99,
i did what you suggested by i don't get any improvement.
The only difference during installation (after connection my E75 through USB) is that i get a message installing SYNCML-DM telling that window should look for a driver, and after installation i got and error : Windows cannot find a driver for your device : SYNCML-SYNC.
    I'm using Vista Enterprise SP1 .
    here is the bug :

Last comment : This issue is only with my E75. With my E52 & my E71, i do not face any USB connection problem. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. And with my other computers, no problem at all.
Best regards and wishes you all the best for 2012.

  • E71x, Ovi Suite 3.0.0, and Outlook 2010 Contact Sy...

I was unsure whether to post this here, or in the E-Series Forums - I believe this is primarily an Ovi issue, though.
I've had this e71x for about four months now. In all that time, I still have yet to find a lasting solution to my contact sync problems. It's always been something - device recognition, drivers, software updates... just name it.
When Ovi 3.0. was released, I thought, 'Maybe this update will resolve the problems, finally'. Well, It did - for maybe two syncs. Then we were back to errors. Specifically, error code '8004fd02' (see attachment).
That's what I see every time I try to contact sync. It seems to be a problem with the online Ovi, because every time I sync via the Suite, then check Ovi.com, I have a stack of seemingly duplicated contacts. And I don't mean the same person, listed a couple times, with slightly varying detail labels: I mean the exact same entry, repeated half a dozen times, but only in Ovi.com. The only pattern concerning which ones get duplicated, as far as I can tell, is a recent update. Everywhere else my address book is, by and large, updated accurately, although Ovi and Outlook do seem to occasionally diagree on semantics.
That's about the gist of it, at the moment *crosses fingers*. I just need to straighten that out so I don't have a dozen or more extra contacts to delete online and on my phone each sync. The Suite is consistently recognizing my phone though, so that's progress...
    Specs
    Win 7 Pro x64
    Outlook 2010 32-bit
    Ovi Suite v. 3.0.0.284
    e71x software v. 03.28
    Thank You.
P.S. I don't need to hear for the umpteenth time about 'unplugging and reattaching the phone', or 'checking for software updates', or 'making sure I have the drivers installed'. I've had plenty of time to check the basics by now -

  • E75 Major Update?

    Greetings
E75 has some serious issues if you haven’t noticed (in the forum there are some posted),
After the phone has been released, the following problems were existed
    1. The phone lags badly when you put the animation mode on and you use it regularly
    Solution: Turn off animation.
    2. "Turn to Silence" and “Tap to Silence” don’t work properly!!
Solution: Turn off those features (one frameware –and the only one- update came and Nokia disabled those features). Or get a third party application
    3. Serious Bluetooth connectivity issue with some well known car kits, Like my Mercedes Kompressor kit (and its not just me search it up in the forum and you will find how much troubles that caused Nokia Customers!!)
Solution: buy a Nokia car kit or change your car or your phone [?] :s
    4. Calendar entries lags badly when I insert multiple entries in same day and try to navigate through them quickly (Maybe its just me, but it should be a business phone and I expect it to handle calendar entries pretty well)
Solution: I wish I could turn off the animation of the Calendar but I cant!!!
One update came from nokia for that phone, and the only major thing about it is that they “Disabled” the turn to silence and tap to silence features!
    So
Are we gonna get those features back “officially”, and will they be working properly?
Are we gonna get our Bluetooth to work properly with our car kits without turning our phone off and on again and delete all the entries in the Bluetooth to reconnect to the car kit and wish it works?
Are we gonna be able to enjoy the smooth animation of the phone (even with heavy usage)?
We want major software update for the E75 to fix all those mentioned problems!!!!

    Hi everyone,
E75 200 series SW (200.12.51, 201.12.01 and 202.12.01) have been around for a while for all unbranded E75 devices. If this update is not available for your phone, then I suggest that you check this sticky topic from this area:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=21323
Other people can update their software but I cannot. What's wrong?
    Update
availability is based on many things, including existing Nokia device
firmware version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these
variables that your Nokia device isn't eligible for updates.
    Please
note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not
have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available.
    Nokia
produces many different variants of each product (for different
countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia
device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly
as possible, and we apologize for any delay. New software may become
available at a later date, however, so please check again soon.

  • Sending photos by email on E71x

After taking photos by E71x I am unable to send them via email from it.

I have the same problem with my ATT E71x.  It occurs when you select the envelope icon after you just took a photo and want to email it immediately.  It only brings up a limited list of email addresses and then refuses to send the photo because it is bigger than 400 or 600k.  small size for most photos.  I cannot find where to change settings for size limit.
