E90 GPS can't load map

Hi all, my GPS Maps on E90 can not load any map, even when I already install it on the memory card. I use to have my local map installed & loaded but for unknown reason it vanished, I've redownloaded a new map from map loader but it hasn't worked, any advice please help.

Hi, it probably has to do with the overhaul of the Maps application. It is currently being upgraded to Maps 3.0, but this version is not yet fully supported an E90.
Could it be be that the version of Map loader you use is not compatible with the Maps version you ahve on your device?

Map Loader Can't Load maps to 5230 on Mac OSX

When I start Nokia Map Loader application for dowloading maps on Nokia 5230 I get an error message saying :
The following errors occured while transferring files. If the error is not permanent, you can try starting the file transfers again.
config.cfg file couldn't been found. operation forbidden

I can't download maps on the phone because the region list is empty (it is not supposed to be).

Hi all my experience with map loader is similar and I'm hoping for dramatic improvements to enable me to successfully load maps to my 5800MX, apols for the length of my post but I have just spent 12 hours trying to get MAP loader to work and have found and fixed a number of issues that I hope will help some people, I have also found a no of shortcomings in the software and am hoping for Nokia to take note and apply some fixes.
1. I got rid of the config.cfg error message by loading maps on my phone and changing the memory card location to drive E: I then waited for a satellite connection and found location, then connected to my MacAir running 10.6.4 OSX. Prior to running maps on my 5800 I had the config.cfg errors.
2. BEWARE that if you are connecting a phone that has not been synced using nokia MMT before or one that was previously synced but had the music etc deleted (like my 5800 because I formatted the memory card) then initially the NMMT symbol flashes as if it is working, BUT shortly after it will remain static and then the color wheel will appear when you float the mouse over the NMMT icon, this can give the impression of a complete software lock upand in my case only after 2 forced quits and reboots not altering things I decided to leave the MAC in this state , low and behold some 40mins later NMMT started showing a status of music and photo transfer . SO NOKIA please fix this your software appears to be totally hung but it is merely working so something needs resolution in my view as there really is no indication that the software is running and in "force quit" the software shows as not responding.
3. MAP LOADER, - initially upon loading map loader it reported "phone cannot have maps or is not compatible" however this was because my default memory card (on the 5800 maps, settings ,maps, menu) was C: and I had not actually re-run maps after formatting my memory card (see note 1 and 2) . Changing the default memory location in maps on the phone to E: allowed map loader to run. Then I had an issue that the map regions were not showing in the left column, the software simply showed nothing and I had nothing to drag into my phone for upload. This was resolved by getting a faster internet connection. Internet Speed and Reliability - Now (still not resolved) I have a faster internet connection I have loaded MAP loader and have dragged all of the relevant maps to the right. I click on upload/download maps and the software stars the download process but takes an eternity to download maps, last night I left the software for 7 hours and still no maps were downloaded, In addition to this I have to leave my phone connected to my MACAIR the whole time I am attempting to download, so I can't even download maps from nokia and upload them to my phone at a later date. I think this is due to my internet connection speed but I am using bittorrent to frequently download torrents which works fine so it cannot be that bad. So MY REQUEST to NOKIA software development for MAP LOADER is can we please have some software that is designed to run on an internet connection that is less than 500K (it looks like you developed it on a 1GB LAN connection). IE why do I have to connect my phone for MAP loader to start in the first place OR Can't you put an option in the SW to allow the Nokia phone to be disconnected after downloading commences (ie if this is a licensing issue) so I can freely use my phone whilst maps are downloaded on my MACBOOK when Im not in the office ? Could you employ a capability like bittorrent in the downloader so we can download in portions when we have access to the internet ? Why is your MAP loader so slow ? IE I happily download 100M updates to MACOSX and ITUNES over these internet connections but MAP LOADER just WONT WORK, OR works so slowly and cannot recover from slow internet connection states that it is unusable ?
4. As I have a MACAIR I only have one USB port so was hoping to connect my 5800 with Bluetooth so I can run maploader whist I am connected to my USB mobile internet. Unfortunately I was unable to get the MAP loader to recognize my 5800 via bluetooth , I loaded the software , chose use bluetooth and it continually searched with no connection found. This is despite me having the devices paired, I have used bluetooth connections for both isnc (calendar and contacts sync works fine) and for NMMT. NMMT recognized the 5800 bluetooth connection in the dropdown menu but MAP LOADER completely failed to recognize it. NOKIA please allow a BT connection with the nokia 5800 so I can run this combination, OR simply allow me to disconnect my phone whilst I am on the internet downloading my maps, then once maps are on my local MACdrive I can just disconnect from the internet and uploads maps to my phone.
That's it, in short MAP Loader for MACOSX 10.6.4 seems unworkable in its current form unless your connected to an 8M internet connection or the Nokia development LAN. Please fix ASAP

Problem with GPS on Nokia Ovi Maps

Hello everybody! I have a problem with GPS on my Nokia E90. Please can anybody help me with this problem. When i try to find my location using GPS with Nokia Ovi Maps the program show me a table like in the picture, but if i use Google Map the GPS work fine.
Please can anyone help me to fix this problem??? Thanks!

Some days ago i just format my mobile but till now the GPS on Nokia Ovi Maps wokrs fine. I just don't know why after i format my mobile the Ovi shows me this message.
When i go to Menu -> GPS -> GPS Data -> Navigation -> Options -> Satellite status, my phone shows me this mesage:
1-st image is when i am inside of my room and
2-nd image is when i am outside of my room.
Can you tell me what does this message mean???

Can't load large tracklogs

I'm running up against a limit on the size of the tracklog that can be loaded in the Map panel. I tried loading an approximately 12MB .gpx tracklog which represents about 12 hours of coordinates taken every 1 second and got an error message saying that the track was too large. This is not an unusually long/large log. Hope larger track logs can be loaded in the final version of LR4.

I assign GPS coordinates to photos based on tracklogs quite a lot, currently with Jeffrey's Geoencoding Plug-In. Reason: Sometimes I need/want to find out where a certain photo has been taken.
But the photo tagging is not the only reason to record a tracklog, so time granularity requirements might be different for other purposes.
I agree that a one-second interval in a tracklog is very low, but hey, with GPSs having 8GB microSD cards, who cares. And better too granular than too coarse. I generally use 10 second intervals, which gave me a 13MB gpx file on my last 24-day trip in Africa.
Also, as long as there is no setting for "fuzzyness" applied to time stamps when tagging photos based on a tracklog (which Jeffrey's plug-in provides), you actually don't know how coarse the tracklog can be to achieve good results.
Just as a sidenote not belonging to this thread: Another feature that's missing in the tracklog feature is to set the timezone at which the tracklog should be analyzed before matching the image timestamps, and a finer offset specification between tracklog and image time stamps.

E90 GPs works slow

I have a Nokia E90
I bought a liscence for BENELUX to get voicenavigation.
Since the up/daown/left/right button is working terribly slow. The sound stutters.
It is very annoying how terrible the sound is and how slowly all the buttons/options work. It takes around 10-15 minutes to start navigation although the fix on the satelite is there within 1 minute. Whan it is calculating a new route, it also takes minutes. My phone software is up to date.
Is the solution buying route 66?

The E90 GPS module is C.R.A.P.. Compared to SirfIII equipped GPS units, it is horrible.
It can take up to 20 minutes and more for the first satellite fix, meaning that you need to leave your E90 OUTSIDE (free line of view to all directions, no skyscrapers, trees, etc.) for 20 minutes or so to get the first position and satellite data. If you're lucky, it works a little bit faster. The E90 needs a strong satellite signal, meaning that you need to be outside or VERY close to a window to get a GPS signal. To explain to you how bad the GPS on the E90 is: I get a GPS signal only directly next to the Windows, receiving 5 satellites. My other business phone, a T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage), receives almost ONE METER away from the windows 7 satellites, close to the Windows 9 satellites. I really gave it up using the E90 GPS but sometimes it comes in handy when I need to send my position to someone in a foreign city for example. Otherwise, forget about it. I also heard that Route 66 seems to provide better navigation results than Nokia's Map program (you need the PC program Maploader for uploading maps to your phone).

With the maploader all the maps are free, the only thing you pay for is a licence if you want to use the voice navigation. You will also pay data download charges if you are navigating in an area for which you have not downloaded the relevent maps with maploader as the application on your phone will download them as you move around. I have downloaded the whole of the UK so all the maps I need are on the phone and it does not need to download as I move around.

Downloading and loading map from OpenStreetMap

I am using DIADem 2012 Advance Edition .
I need to synchronize my gps graph( Latitude and longitude) on the map in offline mode.
I understood it is possible. i succeed to load my gps data on the map from the gallery examples, the map there shows a little area, i need different area.
I read that i can download some file from OpenStreetMap (something on OSM file and PBF),
in my script i using : cacheType= "Cache"
cachePath= the path of the folder in the exmples folder: mapCache
useCache= true
***so the main question is : how do i downloading and loading bigger area from OpenStreetmap and what
script commands i need to use?

I spoke with R&D again about this idea of downloading ALL map data from OpenStreetMaps. It turns out that the OpenStreetMaps organization actively blocks individual requests for huge amounts of map information, among other reasons to protect their server up-time and responsiveness.
It is possible to download the raw data and create your own *.osm files, but the process is complicated:

R&D estimates that a full download of all OpensStreetMaps data for all zoom levels to *.osm files would comprise 342 TB (342000 GB).

E90 GPS Software Update

Hi,
I recently bought E90 from Dubai. However, the I want to use the same phone in Aus for GPS. Can you please tell me how to make GPS work here as the maps of Australai are not there. Do i need to pay for the GPS service because i bought the phone from Dubai.
My Friend bought the same from Aus and he didnt paid anythign to use GPS. Can you please advise me, what should i Do? Can i Simply downlaod Australia Maps from Nokia Website and Make the GPS use of GPS in Australia.

E90 GPS Shutdown

i have had the E90 for about a week and today was exploring the GPS system.
while in Maps, if i select 'Plan Route' and then try to use "recent" as the start or finish point, the phone switches down and restarts. this happens in both the front screen mode and the open mode.
I bought and operate the unit in Dubai (UAE) and the E90 software FW is V 07.24.0.3 12-06-1007 RA-6 which Nokia software updater tells me is the most current.
after a terrible time with the 8800, i was just about sick of Nokia and was kinda hoping this would be different - seems not.

In response to all:
I had this happen once as well. It appears to be a memory problem in that as a test, I restarted my phone by taking out the battery then tried the GPS. No more restarts. Could be a memory leak somewhere and then the addition of the GPS makes it crash. Not sure here but my fix seemed to do the trick for me.
As for the outer screen crashing. Sounds like a loose connection. Can you take it to a service center and have them check it? You are still under warranty so they should keep quiet and fix it.

My friend gave me a NV-U44 gps. Where can I get map updates for it?

Currently there is no map update available for NV-U44. However, there is a firmware update available for your nav-u unit. Although the firmware update does not provide additional map data, it may improve the route quality of your map in certain situations. The firmware update is available from the Sony® Support Web Site.

In general, you are correct - but also your server does need to be properly configured (and those errors above lead me to think it may not be) to serve the file types that your uploading - but it could be something else entirely. Can you zip up your composition folder, upload it to your Creative Cloud files, set it to share, and then post a link here so I can download it? If you'd rather not share it publicly, can you PM me with a link to your composition files?

Unable to load mapping - Integration Repository

ok. I was able to resolve this.
When I used JDK 5.0 u12 , I ran into this weird cryptic error
Exception in thread "Thread-4" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: libsetupSDKJNI.so: Can't load AMD 64-bit .so on a AMD 64-bit platform
Now, replacing JDK 5.0 with JDK 6, gives a more useful error
Exception in thread "Thread-4" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: libsetupSDKJNI.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0
Good. this at least tells me that there is some problem with my native library. So, after some googlng , I recompiled my native library with 'g++' and added -lstdc++ as dependency.
this finally solved my problem.

Time needed to load maps?

How long does it take to load maps via OviSuite? I have been trying to download UK (184MB) and so far it has been running for about 20minutes. At this rate it is going to take me a week to download all of the countries I visit in Western Europe.
Is there no quicker way of getting maps on the N8?

It is not so much downloading the individual country that takes the time although servers not terribly rapid, but decompressing the .zip file and writing to mass memory or memory card as required.
It can be faster downloading maps directly from the servers as detailed in posts by ovikovi in which case entire world of approximately 8.5GB can be downloaded and written to memory in about 4 hours. Point to bear in mind that if carrying out an unofficial procedure you will lose the ability to read what maps are stored on device at later date.
Another suggestion might be that you consider installing version of OVI Maps available from Nokia Beta Labs here (sign in with Nokia ID & password) http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-06-check-in-update for (2) reasons:- Allow you to utilise "Update" feature within application to download more recent map set 00.02.42.122 via WLAN access point on your N8 obviating need to use OVI Suite on PC for this purpose.
