E90 hangs when update to new Firmware

Hi all, my E90 hung while I was attempting to update to latest Firmware 200.34.73, the process seems to have stalled & disconnected the phone without warning but the advice I get is don't disconnect the cable to avoid serious damage to phone ,what should I do now? Advice appreciated

The new nokia software updater has a major bug that is preventing users from updating.
It is mostly affecting vista users. The program will either sit there without giving you any errors or give you a message about service layer not responding.
All you can do is unplug the phone and hope that it switches on again. You may need to remove the battery for a minute.
There has been lots of posts about this issue in the software updates section of the forum.

    Ok, so I have a problem where Windows 7 hangs when creating a new folder and hangs again when renaming it.
    I have documented this problem on my blog here:
    Windows 7 hangs when creating a new folder and hangs again when renaming it Rhyous's 127.0.0.1 or ::1
    This has my hardware details, etc...
    I consider myself an expert at troubleshooting (being in support for over 10 years including time as a Lead Technician doing Windows 2000 support focussing on performance), and have checked quite a few things to try to pinpoint this issue, but I just can't find the cause.
    I am asking others if they have seen this issue. I need to know if it is only on my workstation, or if others are seeing it as well.
    Have you ever right-clicked, chose new folder and then had to wait 45 seconds for a new folder to appear.
    Then the same thing when you try to rename the new folder, a hang of about 45 seconds before the new name take affect.
    Anyway, let me know if you have experienced ths.

    Hi,
    I suggest you temporarily uninstall the antivirus program to check the issue. You need to make sure that you have the installation file to reinstall it later.
    If it does not work, I suggest you also test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot to determine if this is a hardware or a software issue.
    Good luck!

  • Problems when updating amavisd-new to 2.5.0

    Hi the list !
    Thanks for the great tips and support we got here. I’m really newbie on mac os x server while it’s now a long time I’m on clients ones.
    I wanted to follow topicdesk.com tutorials to update spamassassin and clamav as I saw here the initial conf by Apple isn’t working.
    Then, I saw before updating SpamAssassin that I had to update amavisd-new first. So, I begin with this tutorial. Here’s what happened (sorry for the long-long post) :
    First installed Xcode 2.4.1.
    Everything was fine until the CPAN Perl Module updates, as I always had the “make had returned bad status, install seems impossible” error. Looking for some info on the net, I then understand that you have to install everything Apple suggests as if you don’t, you’ll have later problems whith “make” command (I know, I first wanted to install only gcc that seemed necessary to me, and when nothing works as expected, I had to go back and install everything ...) In fact, the missing BSD SDK was supsected to be the missing thing, but not only. Then, just install everything and this is fine.
    Updated the whole asked Perl module without any problem, following the tutorial
    Then Reboot the server when asked ; amavisd-new new version 2.5.0 seems OK. Then, the beginning of problems...
    My smtp log which is set in debug mode shows lots of error entries such as
    May 24 13:11:21 xserve postfix/smtpd[302]: connect from xxxx.adsl.hansenet.de[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
    May 24 13:11:22 xserve postfix/smtpd[302]: 0A64A71E1A: client=xxxx.adsl.hansenet.de[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]

    May 24 13:11:22 xserve postfix/smtpd[302]: disconnect from xxxx.adsl.hansenet.de[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
    Obviously, amavisd-new isn’t running. Then, trying sudo /usr/bin/amavisd and it say there are mistakes in the conf file. BTW, it’s not really obvious trying to migrate settings from the old conf file to the new one :
    I don't understand how this old conf settings
    @local_domains_acl = ( ".$mydomain" ); # $mydomain and its subdomains
    @local_domains_maps = ( 1 );
    # @local_domains_acl = qw(); # default is empty, no recipient treated as local
    # @local_domains_acl = qw( .example.com );
    # @local_domains_acl = qw( .example.com !host.sub.example.net .sub.example.net );
    # @local_domains_acl = ( ".$mydomain", '.example.com', 'sub.example.net' );
    has to bee changed in the new one way :
    @local_domains_maps = ( [".$mydomain"] ); # $mydomain and its subdomains
    # @local_domains_maps = (); # default is empty list, no recip. considered local
    # @local_domains_maps = # using ACL lookup table
    # ( [ ".$mydomain", 'sub.example.net', '.example.com' ] );
    # @local_domains_maps = # similar, split list elements on whitespace
    # ( [qw( .example.com !host.sub.example.net .sub.example.net )] );
    # @local_domains_maps = ( new_RE( qr'[@.]example\.com$'i ) ); # using regexp
    # @local_domains_maps = ( read_hash("$MYHOME/local_domains") ); # using hash
    # perhaps combined with Postfix: mydestination = /var/amavis/local_domains
    # for debugging purposes: dump_hash($local_domains_maps[0]);
    Anyway, I doubt this is the (real?) reason to my problems
    I correct some of these problems (in fact I forgot to look at amavis.log, but here is what it said) :

    I first thought mails were lost, and obviously as it won’t be so easy to fix alone without any help (and time is running loosing mails), I decided to come back to the old amavisd-new version, restoring /usr/bin/amavis and amavis.conf, and rebooting computer.
    Then, another problem with Perl modules that were updated so that old amavis seemed also not working. I decided to replace /Library/Perl and System/Library/Perl with new ones from a clean fresh install on my local server. Rebooted, and seems to be OK as before. Then looked for Postfix and understood than flushing will force deferred mails to be processed.
    Anyway, all is to be done again. If anybody here as an idea of what's going wrong, I'll be glad to learn ...
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    well, there you have it – a classical if then loop.
    seems i'm still stuck somewhere in the middle of the amavisd.conf nightmare. had amavisd-new 2.4.5 / spamassassin 3.1.8 up and running after a real nightmare (which had to do with daemonize=1).
    after i tried to get up-to-date with amavisd-new 2.5.1 and spamassassin 3.2.1 i saw the same problems (see below) again, while launchd tried to get amavisd started.
    Jun 15 05:14:11 mail launchd: org.amavis.amavisd: exited with exit code: 2
    Jun 15 05:14:11 mail launchd: org.amavis.amavisd: respawning too quickly! throttling
    Jun 15 05:14:11 mail launchd: org.amavis.amavisd: 9 more failures without living at least 60 seconds will cause job removal
    Jun 15 05:14:11 mail launchd: org.amavis.amavisd: will restart in 10 seconds
    remembering the previous troubles, i double checked all things, which could be set wrong (daemonize, etc.) and all was well. tried a second install and all to no success.
    later i had the idea, it might be the new amavisd.conf, which troubles (why ever) the startup. so i used the v2.4.5 one and lo and behold, it worked. but why? what is so strange/new/different in 2.5.1, that the startup of amavisd gets broken?
    now i read, that they changed a bunch of stuff and i certainly would be using the newer versions conf file, but it seems i don't get it right configured. i'm on the latest updated 10.4.9 server with all fixes installed. every service is working, mail gets in/out and gets even tagged.
    well, i didn't do the setup with the 2 users junkmail/nojunkmail yet. is it really necessary to set them up as local users? can't they be handled as every other user which has mail enabled via wgm?
    anyone can help me here? thx.

  • Contact names haven't transferred when updating to new iphone, Contact names haven't transferred when updating to new iphone

    Hi guys...
    Feeling really frustrated... I have a. New iPhone 5c  and wanted to sync all from my old iPhone 4
    I backed up iPhone to iCloud as well as computer . Contacts, messages , music all selected
    But now , after I've synced and updated my new , Some Contacts numbers did transfer, others haven't ..others have the phone number, but their contacts details are blank.. Why is this and what can I do to fix.
    When iOS. 7 came out it crashed during uploads nd I lost years of contact numbers, photos of holidays , everything
    It's taken months to get all those numbers back.  So don't wanna go through the same again of texting email ppl one by one to get there phone numbers again
    Hope u can help

    First thing to check: from a computer (you will not be able to get to it from Safari on your iPhone), go to www.icloud.com and verify the contact list there is complete. If not, the contacts did not sync properly from the old phone adn you may want to resync (turn contacts off in teh mail settings then back on).
    Also, are all of the contacts strickly icloud, or did you sync from another source, such as gmail or FaceBook?

  • Big problems with updating the new Firmware to my Zen To

    Hi, I'm new and not sure, if this problem has occured to other users too.
    I wanted to update my Zen Touch. I'm trying this now for over month. My Zen Touch had to been send to Creative two times already and as it looks now, I will have to send it to them for a third time.
    Everytime I start the firmware update, the Zen touch crashes and is not recognized by the PC anymore. No way, to fix it from here. I have tried the AutoUpDate option and the manual one. Both with the same result.
    Last time I send the Zen Touch to Creative I have asked them, if they couldn't install the new firmware, before sending it back to me. Unfortunatly they didn't and now I have the same problem again.
    It dri'ves my crazy! I would like to have the newest firmware, but obviously I cannot get it installed from my PC.
    Did anybody of you have this problem too? Or does anybody know a way to solve the problem. I don't want to send it back in. I already couldn't use it now for 4 or 6 weeks. I'm realy pretty angry.

    Are you trying to install the v2 PlayForSure firmware?
    Ordinarily the process should work unless there is some connection issue with your PC. You might want to try the process on another suitably specced PC, but it depends what state your player is in now.

  • JWS Hanging when updated jar available

    Hi,
    When I make an updated JAR file available, it gets downloaded and verified correctly (it's signed), but then nothing. The progress dialogue simply says that scanning has reached 100%. There have been a couple of threads along these lines, but nothing that seems to jump out as a solution. Here are the details:
    I have an application that I am deploying, as described by this JNLP file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ANSI"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" href="ourapp_main.jnlp" codebase="http://myMachineName/ourapp">

        <all-permissions />
      </security>
      <application-desc main-class="com.meridianinfo.ourapp.twotier.MainApp" />
    </jnlp>And here's a JNLP file for one of the extensions (all extension JNLP files were copied from an original and the relevant names changed):
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ANSI"?>
    <!--  created on Tue Aug 28 13:18:27 GMT+11:00 2001  --><!--  created by fitzpatk on Windows 2000  --><!--  1.3.0  -->

      </resources>
      <component-desc />
      <security>
        <all-permissions />
      </security>
    </jnlp>In versions of JWS prior to the latest, all the JNLP files would be downloaded, but then processing would stop (i.e. no jar files would be downloaded).
    When using the latest version of JWS, launching an application for the first time works fine - everything gets downloaded correctly, installed, and the application launched. As long as there are no updates, this continues to work.
    If I update one of the jar files, it is downloaded and scanned, but the application never starts. The dialogue stating that scanning has reached 100% remains on screen. There is nothing untoward in the log file or in the console. If I hit Cancel at this point, and try to launch the application again, everthing works (of course, there is nolonger an update to download at this point).
    If I update two or more jar files (but not all!), I have to repeat the previous procedure for every updated jar file, before the application will launch.
    If I update all of the jar files, it works as expected - everything is downloaded and installed and the application is started.
    BTW: I am "updating" the jar files by resigning them (using jarsigner).
    I am using Win NT and Win 2K, JRE's 1.3.1 and 1.3.0_01.
    This looks like a bug to me, but before I log it as such, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts/comments. Maybe there is something missing from my JNLP files, or some combination of software that is likely to cause this?
    All comments appreciated.
    Kieran

    There have been a couple
    of threads along these lines, but nothing that seems
    to jump out as a solution.Yep.
    My strategy is brute force, born out of cluelessness, and is either
    1. nuke .javaws/cache and retry
    or if that doesn't help get really angry and
    2. nuke the whole Java Web Start installation directory (and please make sure that not a single .dll survived eg due to IE having some instance slurped in), reinstall Web Start and retry
    and if that does not help we go into scapegoat location mode and do
    3. It must be the bloody JRE, thus try again with 1.3.1, 1.3.1_01, 1.4 and whatever JRE you get your hands on, try also alternative vendors like IBM or Blackdown
    the adventureous now might do
    4. sign that incomprehensible license agreement, download the Web Start sources and fix the problem yourself
    but if you have not enough time or skills on your hand then finally give up and try
    5. It is a Web Start bug. Let's submit it as bug and wait for 1.1
    Not too subtle, eh? :-)
    But there are reasons for this.
    installation of new versions might end in a mess
    No. 2 is motivated by the fact that deinstallations of old Web Start versions and installations of new Web Start versions might lead to a mess.
    Ideally Web Start would work afterwards such installations without problems, and even better, the old cache would be left intact, so that not everything needs to get downloaded again.
    I had two cases (me playing with 1.01 and 1.01_01, and a colleague playing with 1.01something and trying out the 1.4 JDK beta, where Web Start is a part of the JDK) where this led to a hang of that kind what you described.
    The installation guide
    http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/docs/installguide.html
    hints as well that things might go wrong.
    cache corruption, insufficient change detection
    No. 1 is rooted in the observation that Web Start's update mechanism does not work as expected.
    Ideally, when we launch an app, the Web Start client should find out about the main jnlp file and the sub jnlp files and jar files that are used by it. It should detect changes in all those items and download if they changed.
    BTW: I am "updating" the jar files by resigning them
    (using jarsigner).But what changes does it detect?
    - does it just look if something with the same name is already in the cache?
    - does it look at the timestamps of the cache contents and compare that to the timestamps of the versions on the server?
    - does it compare content differences (eg by calculating hashes like md5 or SHA-1)?
    My impression that it does only the first.
    I very often have to empty the whole Web Start cache on the client, when I'm changing/updating jars and jnlps on the server.
    more fun
    No.3 is justified by experience. I had many surprises here.
    Regards,
    Marc

  • IPhoto hangs when creating a new album

    Hi all,
    I am having trouble creating new albums in iPhoto '09. I select File -> New Album, enter an album name, and click [Create]. iPhoto then quickly locks up with the spinning beach ball of death. I have to Force Quit iPhoto. If I then reopen iPhoto and try to create a new album, it hangs again. The only way to create a new album, is to reboot my Mac Pro. After that I can create new albums. However, after my Mac Pro goes to sleeps and wakes up, I can no longer create new albums until I reboot again. Everything else in iPhoto seems to work fine.
    The iPhoto library was initially created in iPhoto '08 running Leopard. Now I am using iPhoto '09 under Snow Leopard. I've tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist preference file. I have used Command+Option when starting iPhoto to rebuild the database. Nothing seems to work. I have my iPhoto library in its default location.
    Any ideas or suggestions? This is very frustrating.
    Thanks!

    Hi all,
    I fixed the issue of iPhoto freezing (beach ball of death) issue as well as many other issues. I reinstalled Snow Leopard and reapplied the updates.
    Got say that reinstalling Snow Leopard is way easier than reinstalling Windows Vista. I have initial release of both. Apple packs most of its SL updates into one big bundle. While with Vista, Windows Update kept hitting me with 1 to 3 updates a time and then forces a reboot. After a dozen reboots, then it wanted to install Vista SP1. Then more updates and reboots before I got to Vista SP2. And then there were still more updates. BTW, Vista is running in a VMWare Fusion VM.
    Thanks,
    Steven

  • TS3219 Is anyone receiving a "unknown error" message when updating/getting new apps?

    Before and after installing the new update I started receiving an "unknown error" message when trying to update apps. I changed my password thinking that was it but I am still getting the error message.

    Try signing out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again and see if that works for you.
    Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Sign in again -Settings>Store>Apple ID - sign in.
    If that doesn't work either, reset your iPad and see if that helps.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • CS5 apps stall / hang when creating a new doc

    Frequently, when I try to open a new document in Photoshop, Illustrator, and sometimes Dreamweaver, the programs hang for a while (several seconds), and sometimes I even get the dreaded beachball, before I can work in them. Here's a typical scenario: go to Photoshop, click Command-N (or File > New), and then the canvas is gray and nothing is active / clickable for several seconds, and then finally a new document will open.
    Could this be a font issue? Someone had suggested plugins, but I can't think of any that span all those apps. I have repaired disk permissions, so I don't think it's that.

    If you meant workshop 3.0(C++ 4.2), it is EOLed and doesn't work on Solaris 8. I recommend you try the new Compiler - Sun One Studio 7, Compiler Collection. The 'try and buy' download is at: <http://wwws.sun.com/software/sundev/suncc/buy/index.html>
    Add compatible flag '-compat=4' that allows the new version of compiler to generate .o's that will link with C++ 4.2 generated .o's, at the cost of not being able to use the new ANSI features.

  • 5800 problem after updating to new firmware

    When, I first bought my phone the icon on the phone were all unbranded but I did a firmware update and they've all been replaced by t-mobile ones. eg the internet icon has now become "web 'n' walk". How do I get the old unbranded icons back?

    Because once its released, and sent to the operators, the operators want to do and add some personalizations of their own, which could take time given the fact that the firmware is already stable and ready for use. The operator firmware after modding would go through another series of stability tests (AFAIK) which lengthens the process, not to mention depending on what the operator wants to add or remove from the feature list. Which means that the operators whims take a lot of time to add.

After I click on the install, my iMac restarts and attempts to install the new OS. But it just hangs there for a long time almost 1 hour. I had to basically do a hard reset to reboot my iMac.
    I did a disk utility check and there are no there were no issues identified.
    Any idea what I should do??

    Hello jojos:
    Run repair disk from your software install DVD. Then download (even if you have done it before) the combo OS X 10.5.5 updater and apply it.
