E90 Long Press on #Key doesn't activate Silent Pro...

Is this a fault, or am I missing a trick?

If the hash key works for normal typing, then it looks like something has caused the software to get confused.
3rd party softwase possibly. Not the E90 softwares fault I suspect, as this works fine with bothe inner and outer hash keys.
Re-flash the phone after backing it up may help, ot try un-installing things one at a time and retry the hash key.
One workaround is the quickly press the power button and then select silent mode.
When finished, press the power button again, and select general, or whatever mode you require.

Enter Key doesn't activate auto-suggest link

Arrowing to an item in the auto suggest menu and pressing
enter doesn't take me to take me to the page linked. I am able to
arrow down, and if I click on it with my cursor the link functions
(even though these links are just to invalid files).

True, it isn't structured as a 'jump menu', but everywhere
else I've seen it, including on the

page it functions like a jump menu would (no link to follow, but
the menu reacts when the user arrows down to an item and hits
enter). Even on the search bar on the upper right corner of this
site, which doesn't appear to call the exact same scripts, but
similar ones, functions as a jump menu. The documentation for this
widget includes instructions on keyboard navigation. I can't
imagine that the widget would be designed so that the user could
highlight the item with the keyboard but be unable to follow the
link unless he or she also clicked on it with the mouse. Sort of
goes against the idea of keyboard navigation.
What I perceive to be the problem with mine is that the Divs
are being selected when the user arrows down, not the links. In a
web page I can tab from one link to the next, and use the enter key
to follow the link. Any other suggestions?

How do I turn on long press keyboard to write the same character many times with one keystroke only? I can only write 1 letter at a time with each key press. To write "aaaaa" I need to press 5 times the A key. I didn't use to do this.

I know this has something to do with INSERT key in Windows I guess. But suddenly I was using Mac OS X Lion and a keyboard sign appeared in the top bar, and the keyboard didnt work as it usually does. I mean, I wanted the long press key to write multiple caracters of course. Please help!

It's now a hidden option that can be turned on with a terminal command. The easiest way to do this is to download TinkerTool from this site:

Then go to Tinkertool > General tab > Select "support key repeat".
Logoff and login again.

Pressing keys doesn't do anything

When you press the keys it doesn't do anything. Except puts a box around the app. You can't enter the unlock passcode either

Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.

Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.

There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.

My keyboard layout has changed. I no longer have an @ key.

About an hour ago, my keyboard layout changed (but only when using firefox) so that, for example, Shift+2 no longer produces @, but rather double quotes ("). Also, pressing the [ key now produces nothing, but the next key I hit after it will produce a hat. Example, the [ key and a g will give ^g. There are other peculiarities, such as the / key now shows é, and a few others.
Everything I check on the internet seems to be telling me the problem lies in my keyboard layout settings in Windows, and possibly having to press LeftAlt+LeftShift (or just Alt+Shift) to readjust them, or bringing up the language bar, etc. But all of my efforts to fix language indicate to me that I'm currently operating with a US keyboard layout (which is what it`s supposed to be), and again, this ONLY happens in firefox and no other programs.
Any ideas?

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
* Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar.
* You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar.
* Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar.
* You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application.
* The default keys to rotate the layout is a combination (Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift) that can easily be used in Firefox to activate a menu item.
* To avoid an unintentional switch assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctr+Shift)

HP Pavilion g6-2330dx. "No Boot Device. Insert boot disk and press any key" Memory test failed

Hi. So I am trying to help a friend with her laptop. It's a HP Pavilion g6-2330dx.

Toshiba 640GB HDD from the looks of it.
The laptop is unable to boot into Windows, so I suspect the hard drive. But I ran the hard drive test and it passed all the tests. The SMART test and both the short and long test. I ran the tests multiple times and it passed each time. I tried reseating the hard drive and still no go. I also removed the HDD and connected it to my desktop PC to see if it detects and it did. Ran the Windows 7 own HDD test and it passed.
Currently, there doesnt seem to be any operating system at all on the HDD. When I check, there is a C: drive of ~90GB partition that is ~90GB free, but inside there are Windows files/folders. There is also a D: drive Recovery partition that says ~26GB with only ~2GB free, but when I go inside there's only ~350MB worth of data.
So then I ran the memory test (in BIOS) and it failed immediately. I reseated the RAM module. I tried the other slot. It still failed. So is it safe to say the memory is the cause of this problem?
Pressing the F11 key that is supposed to take me to the System Recovery only leads me back to the black screen with "No Boot Device. Insert boot disk and press any key"
I even tried to install Windows 7 to see if it'll work. I was able to get the laptop to boot/read off the Windows 7. But when I click to install, it asks for a boot device driver or something like that.
My friend doesn't have the recovery disk either. I guess she lost it.
Anyway, is it as simple as replacing the memory or could it actually be the HDD (even though it passes)?

The date was the first time I ran the tests. I havent received those numbers (error codes?) since.
EDIT: Just for kicks, I ran Memtest 2.11 just now (forgot I had the disc) and it immediately went red with thousands of errors, hah.

I understand that you were unable to boot into Windows, and you suspected the hard drive and tested it, but it passed both short and long test. With that being said and the fact that it also passed leads me to believe the hard drive is fine.
You tested the memory and it failed. You tried reseating and swapping slots but they still failed the test.
I would test each card individual with the memtest to determine if it is just one or both cards that have an issue.
When you installed it in another computer, you did see the recovery partition. Once the memory issue is resolved, if you are still unable to boot into Windows, I suggest you do a recovery with the minimized image.   Here is a link to Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) to assist you with that process.

Trying to Install Windows 7 onto MBP Mid-2010 but I get this "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key". What do I do?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto my MacBook Pro Mid-2010 (MacBookPro6,2) from a USB drive, since my Super Drive no longer will burn DVDs or CDs. I did the XCODE trick to allow me to make the bootable USB. But when it reboots after partitioning I get this, "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key" message. When I press a key after reinserting the USB it still won't boot after pressing a key. I unplugged anything connected to it and it still doesn't work. Is there any way I can get it to be recongized or do I just need to get an external disc drive and burn a disc that way?

If your computer came with an inetrnal optical drive, you must use that to install Windows.

Left shift key doesn't work on some characters

In some applications, such as Excel and AOL, my left shift key doesn't work on some letters. Consequently, when I'm typing I get lower case letters when I've typed shift plus the letter to get a cap. Right shift works OK, but I'm not used to using it. It happens on i, t, and p, I've noticed so far. I don't know if it's the keyboard or the application. Word seems to work fine.
Would welcome any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it.

Is it possible that you have inadvertently switched to a different keyboard layout? Open System Preferences, then click on the Language & Text preferences. Within the Language & Text preferences click on the 'Input Sources'. You should see a long list of languages representing the various keyboard layouts that are available. Make sure that only the keyboard language you use is selected. If there are multiple languages selected then de-select the extras.
If you continue to have problems then check the 'Show input menu in menu bar' checkbox in the lower section of the preference pane. This will place an icon in the upper right menu bar (it looks like a flag representing the language you have chosen for your input device) that provides additional options. I suggest selecing the 'Show Keyboard Viewer' option and then try pressing the keys that you are having problems with to see how they show up on the keyboard viewer graphic. If you've set the correct language for your keyboard and the key sequences still don't match, then you may need to take your keyboard in for service. Better yet, borrow another keyboard to confirm that the keyboard is the issue.

Premier Pro CS3 doesn't activate

Hi, my Premier Pro CS3 doesn't activate. Or once it kind of did but now it claims that it hasn't. I've tried to solve this with Adobe chat support personel for 4 times now and three of them said "Now it works, you won't run into problems anymore", which of course I have, and the last fellow said "It's a technical problem which we have little information of, please ask from technical support". He gave me a link to this forum. How you guys could help me if they couldn't is beyond me, but I definitely hope you can. The product is licensed for two computers in our company, and last time the chat -fellow cleaned previous activations and now it should only be licensed on my computer as my collague hasn't got time to do it yet. The error message that I'm getting is something like "Unable to connect Adobe" and then there're 3 options 1st: retry (doesn't work) 2nd: try again later (gives 30 days trial I guess) 3rd: Trial or such.. It work fine two times after the 3rd chat -fellow "fixed it", but then I got Adobe CC with photoshop and LR5 and now the problem is back. Any ideas? I would greatly appriciate any leads fixing this as I should use Premier for my company.

Hardware crashes or virus infections or simple software problems happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new setup or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)

Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything

[SOLVED] Strange behaviour of XFce after pressing certain keys

I noticed that when I press 'Ctrl' and hold it for a while all my currently opened windows will close and I am no longer able to access the Applications Menu on my panel until reboot.
I also noticed, that when I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete combination my xfce-session is 'terminated' and I am in console environment (with a login prompt).
Now, I don't know if this type of behaviour is normal, but I do not like it at all.
I know Ctrl+Alt+Delete should lock the screen, but why I am in console then?
And why after pressing 'Ctrl' all my currently opened Windows are gone? (or at least not visible and not minimized)
Any ideas?

EDIT: Ok, fixed - I realized that I pressed some keys when I was changing the battery on my laptop and did not lock the screen :-) [Stupid me].

It turned out to be a permissions problem. I was doing some cleaning in /etc, getting rid of *.pacnew and *.pacsave and I apparently overwrote /etc/group so my user account lost its group assignments. The errors thrown by mplayer were a little confusing because they mentioned "no such file", while in reports from other users with similar problems I could clearly see "permission denied". Only when running mplayer with "-ao oss" it correctly reported "permission denied" on /dev/dsp.
KDE must be simply assigning permissions when it detects a new device, perhaps it has something to do with ConsoleKit. It would also explain why you have to actually be in Konsole when modprobing because it wouldn't work in a text console even with KDE running in the background.

Long-press keyboard function missing in Mac OSX Lion

I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and FF 11.
When typing in text/input boxes, e.g., Gmail, Mac's long-press key functions are not present. For that matter, many Mac keyboard functions are not present.
For example, if I use Chrome or TextEdit and press and hold down U, I am presented with a pop-up displaying 5 U options (accents, umlauts, etc). Also, if I press Cmd+Forward Arrow Key, the cursor moves to the end of the line. None of these keyboard functions work in FF.
Basically, Chrome worked like any other Mac app - FF doesn't. Any ideas?

As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

install, reboot twice and choose the Windows-Partition on next startup.
(The apple-bootloader doesn't display all bootable harddisks.
With rEFIt you can boot from all partitions/harddisks on your computer.)
