E90 phone software (firmware) update

Does anyone know what changes/benefits there are should I decide to upgrade my E90 software to the latest version?

Check if u can do this
press *,3 and green call button together - power off the fone, remove the battery - restart after a few mins.
if u had removed the fone while update or if the updater dint complete installation properly, u may have to take it to a nokia care point for them to flash the fone again.

Hi,
Every time nokia suite connects to my nokia c3, says there is software update available for my phone. And doesn't sync anything until i press "update later". I always forget to do, because syncing should work in background without my intervention. Later I see empty calender in my phone, because it isn't synced at all. Tried googlint it, and searching your forums, can't find the answer.
The problem is that nokia suite doesn't update phone through bluetooth. I tried searching for update through phone menu (using phone's wireless connection), but it says no update available. Strange...
How do i get to rid of that ************* message and start syncing automatically again?

But later i just removed internet cable from laptop and it worked! My nokia suite automatically synced after i launched it. So, I just need to figure out, how to block nokia suite trough firewall not to access internet. Any help here or in fixing this bug?
I've just restarted my laptop, but it didn't help. Firewall still doesn't block nokia suite despite my efforts. And after finding an update it doesn't sync automatically.

This is my 1st iPhone and was wondering when a software/firmware update is available do you get it through the iPhone itself or do you have to connect it to iTunes to get it?

I appreciate the responses, however my initial post was too vague. I apologize and will explain. The specific issues are the window closes occasionally when loading something large, that has ceased in the last day or two. My battery life is no where near the second gens, is that the extra hardware at work? I thought that had been accounted for? One of the frustrating, albeit humorous occurrences is when I placed the second and third gen within 1 foot of each other, turned off LTE, and streamed a video. From every location the second gen out ran the new model on 3G signal, lol. Not a huge deal since I have wi-fi or LTE pretty much everywhere I am, but disappointing none the less.
The new apple tv is great, except for the same thing everyone is posting about. HD iTunes library streaming taking overly extended load times. I don't expect it will take too long for apple to address that issue. I'm new to apple, last 6 months, but they seem to have excellent support! It is definetly highly rated.

Software/firmware update stalled

I was just doing an update of software and firmware "strongly recommended" by apple for all users. A firmware update was included in this package. The process has stalled. It got to the point where I now have a message on the screen saying it is installing software and do not turn off computer. It has been stalled at this point for over 12 hours. What do I do now? If I turn off or attempt to restart, what will happen?

I think I have answered my own question.
I was installing several software updates plus an EFI firmware update.
I just got off the phone with a guy at apple who told me when the software update process seems to be permanently stalled to try:
1) try force quit. Sometimes this will do the trick. (In my case it didn't)
2) Bite the bullet and turn the computer off. And hope for the best.
3) Upon restarting, hopefully everything will go smoothly and you can then run the check for updates routine to see whether the updates did or did not successfully install.
4) If upon restarting the computer stalls on the dreaded grey screen your choices, according to him, are to either call apple and pay for some tech support or take it to a genius bar at an apple store.
Happily, in my case, the restart worked flawlessly and I am back in business. The EFI firmware update has not been installed. Reading the description, I'm not clear why I even want it so I am going to let sleeping dogs lie.

27" iMac very sluggish after recent software/firmware update

I bought my 27" iMac (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM) maybe 6-7 months ago...and it has had NO problems. Even after updating to Lion. Smooth.
But after the most recent graphics firmware update (Feb 29) and software update (late Feb/ealry March 2012...can't remember exact date)...now my iMac is so sluggish! Running more than one application really makes my iMac run slow. And I'm not talking about Photoshop...I'm talking about Firefox, Safari, Mail, iTunes. Basic ones. Especially bad when I play video...very choppy.
Any clue what's going on? I ran Disk Utilitiy (all good, repaired permissions), Clean My Mac, CCleaner...all say good and healthy. So I am at a loss.
Any help would be greatly be appreciated. I'm still under warranty...but I don't think I need to bring it in do I?

Is there any way to remove this week's automatic software/ firmware updates

I installed 4 or 5 of the automatic updates this week and have been having several problems since. First i was having problems booting but resolved this from the start disk. Then I was recieving a message saying that the superdrive firmware update was wasnt needed for any hardware on my computer even though i have a superdrive, so i deleted that....
Anyways now I cant seem to use my pro tools l.e. audio recording program. It just wont start up.
Is there any way to go through and remove all of these new updates to see if that resolves the conflict so i dont have to reinstall os x?

A direct answer - no. I recommend to everyone that they have a good retreat/backup strategy. I make bootable clones of my iMacs on an external firewire drive using a little program called SuperDuper ($28 at www.shirt-pocket.com).
If you decide to retreat, I would use the archive and install approach.
Before you do that, I would run repair disk from your software install DVD to see if that addresses your problems.

Nokia 3120 Classic Software/Firmware Update

I cannot update my Nokia 3120C firmware from v7.16 to v9.41. Whenever i do it from software updater it shows me updated version but it fails and gives error that make sure your Phone is directly connected to ur PC and not via USB Hub. I update it from my Dell Studio Laptop.

First, some comments about the e-mail app:
1. Actual headers can be seen nowhere (Received:-Lines, X-...-Headers, etc.)
2. Cannot directly tell the application to store sent mails in a "Sent" folder, have to use server-side hacks with the "send copy to myself" option :-( Also cannot tell it to store deleted mails in Trash folder.
3. Reply flag is not set when replying (I cannot see on my PC using e.g. Thunderbird which mails were already replied to or not)
Oh well, and BTW a shortcut for smilies in text messages is missing completely.
A countdown timer is missing. Much simpler Nokia phones have it.
Another detail: whereas the default action for the messaging one-touch key is to open the emails, I would have liked to assign that to the messaging key (LONG press). Apparently that is impossible though. :-\
Futhermore, not all keys assignments intuitive, and one could more often use the volume up/down keys, which are in use almost never. I know there are applications for that out there, but still, who is doing the UI testing of these devices? ;-)
I also have the feeling that network reception is worse than with my old Nokia phone.
Apart from those (and more) details, I nevertheless like the device very much, the UI is fast and cool and does more or less everything I want it to do!
The battery lasted quite some time (5 days?) after the first charge. After that, no such luck. Maybe 3 days now.
Using the Update Software as non-administrator does not warn that the Administrator password will be required to install several devices during Software Update. I wonder what happens if one does not.
Backup/Restore:
- CALENDAR seems to be saved BUT IS NOT RESTORED (neither using backup to memory card nor PC Suite)
- does not backup/restore phone lock delay
- does not backup/restore GSM/UMTS/dual network setting
- M!Weather Application was not backed up/restored, not sure why, Device Status not either

I was looking at the Nokia website to update any software on my N73 & all I could find was a .exe for a PC. Does this mean if I have a Mac I can't update my phone? (

Printer strategy on dual band network, since software & firmware updates...

Sorry, as I all posted this under Airport Extreme N but I wasn't sure which one to put it under...
Well the recent updates to Airport and security messed w/ my printing (as was often the case in Tiger, especially w/ the security updates, but that particular printer has since moved on)
I have my dual band ("G" and "N"-5gHz) network was set up according the diagrams(3 versions?) on this forum (Airport Extreme and a Linksys WRT54G -- internet goes through the Linksys first). MacPro, iMac, Macbook (all Intel) on the "N" network and the Mac Mini on the "G"network And a wireless printer (wifi built in -- HP deskjet 6980 - not plugged to any computer), was previously (before updates) seen by both networks -- the way things are now, I don't know how it did that.
Anyway, after last night's updates. Only the Mac Mini(on the G) can see the printer (which I assume has no "N" capabilities, as it was bought a while back), just B & G(?), but the other 3 "N" computers could not (well they sorta see it, from prior to the update), but nothing happens upon print request. I now have the printer plugged directly into the MacPro, and the other 2 can now see it, (Bonjour) and print fine.
My question is the point of having this wireless printer was my computer did not have to be on for my wife and kids to print from theirs, now it does that it's hard wired.
What am I missing? Is there away to get this back to totally wireless? I do not want to hard wire the printer to the Airport Extreme as it's far away from the access point.

Duane, sorry about the new thread — but it occurred to me that it was a distinct question and that proper etiquette in the forum, as sometimes prompted by the experts, then expects a new thread. So I have endeavored to do things according to protocol (especially so that you folks can get the credit you deserve). You have helped me with my network setup, and I appreciate that. It works exceptionally well — and I can easily live without remote printer access. Question answered.

Error in Phone Software Update page ???

Step 2/6 says Back-up data ... to memory card ...
I might be blind, but I didn't see a backup option on my 6131.
Did anyone see?
Perhaps it's an option for S60 phones!?

I checked the software update link on Nokia-UK site and found the follows info in update over PC:
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory may be deleted during phone software update. Before updating your phone software, we recommend you back up this data to your PC using Nokia PC Suite Software. Once your phone software is updated, you can restore the data using PC Suite.
This is correct text. And update over-the-air text is not correct. Just push next if you saved all data from your phone.

Problem updating phone software

Hi!
A whole bunch of updates have recently appeared in the Software Update application; I was able to install them all directly from my phone, except the Phone Software (Important update). Version 21.0.045.
I select "start update" but nothing happens at all.
Has anybody already encountered the same problem?
