E90 Software updater..

I don't know if anybody encountered the following problem...
I've been using Nokia PC suite version 6.84 for a long time, and i used it to update my phone's software several times using the Nokia software updater.
17 days ago i've been notified that the new PC suite verion 6.86 has been released, so i downloaded it along with the video manager and multimedia factory..
Everything is going fine except a problem which is i cannot update my phone anymore..during the update process the program stops to tell me that another program is stopping Nokia Updater or Nokia Service Layer Host Process from working...i don't know why...i reinstalled the PC suite again and again, also the Nokia updater..the problem is still the same...The firewall is not preventing Nokia Updater from working too...The last shot was going back to Nokia PC suite 6.84.. The problem is still the same too..
What should i do?

It seems that Nokia does not want to support old phones any more. We have in our firm old e90 communicators. I try to upgrade firmwares. In my old e90 has firmware version 400.34.93. No when I try to get that same version into another e90 (where is now 400.34.84) Nokia Suite says that there is no firmware available. When I hook my old nokia into Nokia Suite, it says that there is the latest firmware. So. Everyone can do their own conclusion about that. Hey. I have to bye iPhone. Maybe there is same kind of problems.

  • Need Help with E90 software Update

    Hi Everyone,
I bought an O2 locked e90 from someone on Ebay, and that phone was never updated to the newer version. I had the phone unlocked to be used in 3G, but when I tried to update the software through Nokia Software Update to version 300, it fails saying that USB connection failed and cannot continue installing. I have changed few cables just to make sure that it was not faulty, and still the same error. I was told by someone since the version in the phone is quite old it is failing to upgrade to the new one. Can anyone plz help me from this misery?????

  • E90 Software Update Problems

    Hi,
Can anyone help me out. I updated my phone with the new 300... firmware. trying to restore my backupd files and it aint working. i dnt even kno wat made me update the firmware. I am really disappointed in Nokia. Pls guys i need some help any one solved the problem.
    Cheers

listen back up has to be made before updating the firmware otherwise nothing would be left on ur device and it will be as it left the factory ......and if the backup is made on the memory card then it shud be removed from the device during the back up and if its thru pc suite then just simply go to ur back up folder and retrieve it .......... this folder also has some hidden files....... so do make sure to check them so dat u don't miss on anything

Hi all, I just downloaded newest version of E90 Nokia software updater but still no latest SW update, does anyone has any idea about when it will be available? It's been almost a year since the last upgrade, thx:manmad:

You can check for updates at:

I do not want to disappoint you, but since the E90 is rather old now (2 years) be prepared that we may not see an update.

Hi, i've just downloaded the new nokia software updater v.1.4.70en but while im trying to install it shows me an error saying :

But the problem is that if i go to the nokia software updater it does not find my phone! Im working on my windows xp sp2 laptop. I also tried on my windows vista laptop and it gave me the same errors! I have no firewalls or antiviruses to block anything! if somebody can help me i would be very gratfull!
I have an nokia E90 V.07.24.0.3 and i want to update it to the last firmware!
    Thank you, Olivier!

I have just encountered the same/similar problem and spent an age trying to find a solution both here and through Google with no success. The good news is that after a bit of trial & error I have managed to resolve the issue with a very simple workaround
When installing NSU, continue through the installation until presented with the error message.
Here, grab a pen and paper and note down the full path of the .DLL causing the problem.
Now continue to install (ignoring the error) by clicking on the right arrow.
Once insallation is complete, open the start menu and select 'Run'
Here you need to type "regsvr32" (without quotation marks) followed by a space then the full path of the file you have noted from the error message. (Note - the path should be in quotation marks). As an example, below is exactly what I typed to resolve my issue
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tss\ProductApiLoader\ta_productapiloader.dll"
Now open NSU and update your handset.
Good luck and remember to feed back your results on this thread for the benefit of others.

  • E90 FirmWare Update Problem

I had updated my E90 phone firmware from Nokia Software Updater. The update process went through easily but the phone did not restart properly. Phone screen is shows Nokia written on the screen and then the screen goes blank and the phone screen again shows Nokia written on the screen. This process continuous until the phone is powered off by taking the battery out. I tried loading the firmware again but the phone is not being recognised by the updater. Kindly advise asap.

Check if u can do this
press *,3 and green call button together - power off the fone, remove the battery - restart after a few mins.
if u had removed the fone while update or if the updater dint complete installation properly, u may have to take it to a nokia care point for them to flash the fone again.
    good luck

  • E90 software release

    Hi,
I use an E90 (curent version 400.34.93). some days back (before upgrading to the current release) when I check the site for device software update it said that release 400.34.93 was available and I upgraded my phone. Today when I check the site, it say that the latest available version is 300.34.84.
Did nokia find some issue with 400.34.93? is it that it would be better I downgraded to 300.34.84.

As far as I am aware, it's not possible to "downgrade" your FW, although there may be some unofficial ways around this...

Sometimes, it's better to help ourselves.
I re-installed Nokia S60 BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 (.SISX, 2,89 MB) that was originally developed for E90 firmware 300.34.84.
Vers. 8.23.1 appears to also work (keeping my fingers crossed) well at the moment for emails synching, for the new firmware 400.34.93
    Go to http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php
for  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1
I have to do try 2 times before the BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 worked properly on my E90.
During the first time, after the firmware upgrade and re-installing the backup data (that was saved before the firmware upgrade) using Nokia Suite, I found that the backup process did not re-install the BB Connect 8.23.1 automatically.  So I re-installed  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 using Nokia PC Suite, then did an activation on the BB.
However, activation stalled at 88% completion and "freeze" up.  By then, I see 2 BB inboxes in my Messaging > Folder view.
So I saved my emails in my Outlook on the local PC drive, and then deleted both the BB inboxes in my E90 (Messaging > Options > Delete).  Then I go to Installations > app mgr > Options and deleted the BB application totally from my E90.
I re-installed the BB Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23., and did a new activation.  [I am using BB Enterprise Server, so I have to get my IT support to re-initialise and give me the password each time i do this activation.] This time, it worked till 100% completion in synch my emails, contacts, calendar, etc.
In the past 6 hours, new emails on BB in my E90 have been coming in, and i was able to read and reply.
Hope this will continue, and the above info is helpful to others.
The new firmware appears to reduce the response time when you are using the E90.  I feel the time between pressing a command key, e.g., Messaging or Calendar, till the screen changes display, is shorter now.
Key response time is now closer to I expect from a premium phone like E90.

  • E71 problems: 1) software update and 2) SMS copy

Upgraded from Win xp to Win 7 along a new PC. Installed a new Nokia Suite.
    PROBLEMS:
    1) Device software update (that Suite seriously suggests) HANGS: "USB is not connected ... now it is, continue... USB is not connected..." etc. (just after the backup in the 1st phase) - looks very stupid.
    2) Tried to copy my text messages from the phone, but the new Suite does not allow me to COPY and PASTE them to some folder in my computer. It does let me select all messages (e.g. from Inbox or Sent), but the only action available is DELETE. How to proceed? This used to be so handy with the old version. Sigh...
Thx for any tips!  E7x (still) rules.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I even tried to synchronize (never needed that for anything) but it didn't help a bit.
BTW, here's my "SMS history" (I've saved them all during the last 10 years or so using 3 different Nokia phones and about 4-5 different lap tops - during the earlier 8 years I didn't save them [no idea if it was possible at that era] but I saved the devices, of course):
    2110 (red):
    05/1995 - 12/2000 : (not saved anywhere)
    8210 (red):
    12/2000 - 05/2003 : (not saved anywhere)
    6800:
    05/2003 - 08/2005 : Textmessages.ncc (one file/transfer)
    09/2005 - 06/2008 : 12345678.vmg (one file/msg)
E90 (red - an obvious pattern here...)
    06/2008 - 10/2009 : name/number_date.vmg (one file/msg)
    E71:
    10/2009 - 06/2013 : name/number_date.vmg (one file/msg)
    06/2013 - ...     : now WHAT THE HECK?!

  • Bluetooth doesn't work after E90 firmware update!

    Nokia staff - help needed!
Bluetooth has stopped working after E90 firmware update.
The following on-screen message is shown: "Unable to perform Bluetooth operation!"
P.S. Reinstalling firmware via Nokia software update doesn't help at all. If connectivity problem still can be solved with USB cable, the worst tning is that I can't use my phone's BT handsfree when driving.

    Hi hanzzi
No information as to what device you are using, but try deleting E:\CITIES + .qf file from memory card then restart OVI Maps application to re-define folder structure required to download regional mapping using OVI Suite.

  • HT5381 i did a software update and now mail wont open at all

Help......my mail app is coming up with an error "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X".  Can I uninstall the update?

    !! WARNING !!
    about the September 2012
    "Security Update 2012-004"
If you've got "Mail.app" in a folder OTHER THAN the root "Applications" folder,
MOVE "MAIL.APP" TO THE APPLICATIONS FOLDER
    **BEFORE** INSTALLING THE "004" UPDATE!!
Because *IF* you use OSX's integrated Software Update app from the Apple menu to do the "004" updating, and *IF* your Mail.app is NOT in the Applications folder, then buddy, you've got some sitdown fixit time ahead of ya and/or some internet tie-up time downloading the "004" update file itself.
Been through it all, already.  In fact, just got done getting my Mail back up & running. And I tried everything short of attempting to unpacking my "Mail.pkg" receipt file using... whatever... even Pacifist couldn't get it out. So that fixit "Plan D" died quick. And I'm not savvy enough to use Terminal commands to do "Plan E," so that SUDO stuff was my brick wall.
So I compressed my entire "Mail" subdirectory that contain all my emails, for safekeeping during the required surgery, or whatever would work, leaving the original Mail directory where it was. In case something bad happened in all my fixit whatevers, the one thing I *didn't* want to cross paths with was a hosed Library -> Mail folder. Then I'd be pssd. But I can wipe out that ZIP now 'cause all's well now. After 6 hrs of downloading thru a mobile broadband hotspot running at only 14KB/sec speed due to my having gone over my T-Mobile hotspot plan's bandwidth amount (throttled-down after reaching the limit, tho not cut off completely. Kinda nice, but it's a huge speed drop).
I tried moving the two Mail.app versions around, compressing them & then trashing the original so they wouldn't be recognized, blabla, even booted my Mac in Safe Mode & reinstalled the "MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) Update Combo.dmg" update file, which in the past has fixed many problems. But after restarting, not this one.
Like a dummy who ignored knowing better, I had my Mail.app in a folder other than the Applications folder, with only an alias to that being in the Applications folder. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The updater don't see that as nuthin special or useful.
So if you've got, like I've got, "old" icons for Mail.app (v4.5) in your Finder toolbar & in your Dock that all point to "Mail.app v4.5" in whatever folder you've got that in, other than in the Applications folder (where Apple apparently REQUIRES that it be located, and ONLY there, at least for OSX updating purposes), then after you download & autorun that "004" updater using Software Update, NONE of your pre-existing Mail icons will work. And MOST aggravatingly, **NOR** will your brand-new "Mail.app v4.6" work that came out of the "004" updating installation.  So basically, your Mail.app's... all of 'em.... are hosed. But only if you run the "004" update without your "Mail.app v4.5" being located in your Applications folder and ONLY in your Applications folder. And duplicates of Mail.app, scattered around your HDD??  Always a problem with many Apple apps.... The Apple software engineers apparently like 'em to be in the Applications folder, and in ONLY there, and ONLY the latest version, and ONLY 1 single copy of each on your entire HDD. They just don't seem to stress that enough, it appears. Kind of an oversight for them to not emphasize that, IMO...
My recommendation for this particular September 2012 "004" update:
If you run Software Update, and if you see the "Security Update 2012-004" listed as available for download, UNCHECKMARK IT.  DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT USING SOFTWARE UPDATE !  Instead, download the actual update file itself.
Same thing, only a different way of doing it. Most importantly, you'll be skipping the auto-installation that Software Update performs.
AND you'll have that update file on your HDD for future fixits, should a nasty "unfixable" problem come up.
First, #1. Do a filename search for "Mail" (Option-Command-Spacebar). Scroll down to where the "Apps" are located in the list under the "Kind" column heading. First, find your Mail.app that's v4.5. Get that bugger into your Applications folder if it's not already there. Next, Trash all other "Mail.app" apps you see in that same list that you may have elsewhere on your HDD.
    #2. Go here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586
And download the actual "004" DMG update file: "SecUpd2012-004.dmg"
And of course, it's a biggie.... 270MB... so watching grass grow may be involved here if you've got a slow connection (go to a MacDonalds & do it, like I shoulda done).
    3. After downloading, I'd recommend closing down all apps, emptying the Trash, and restarting.
Then, after restarting, run Disk Utility's "Repair Disk Permissions."
Then, doublecheck that the Mail.app version 4.5 is in your Applications folder.
THEN fire up & install "SecUpd2012-004.dmg."
    Reboot.
After the reboot, your Mail.app version 4.5 in the Applications folder will have become Mail.app version 4.6 in the Applications folder, and all will be well again.
And you can dump that zipped-up "Username -> Library -> Mail" folder then, too.
    Happy Mac'in!

I keep being asked to update my Safari but when I do a Software update it scans but never gives me a list and just says no new updates. Help please!

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X.
