E900 - a good replacement for an older WRT54G?

I still have one and it's been working for 6 years but I had an issue with it yesterday; AT&T tech support who I have my DSL service with determined one of the ports on the back of the router where my ethernet cable was plugged into was probably no longer good because I had no internet access on my desktop computer yesterday; error message said network cable unplugged so I plugged the cable into one of the other 4 ports on the back of my router and everything is working again. I spoke to someone at your company yesterday and they recommended this model to replace my WRT54G model. Is your E900 N300 router a good replacement for an older WRT54G?

It is a good router since it is running on N technology. To know more about that router try to check on the links below.

    Hello there,
I got fed up using music app on ipad, the way they removed usefull stuff (like deleting full albums) remains a mystery for me. So like the title says, I'm looking for a good replacement for it, even ready to pay a few bucks. Any idea?
    thx in advance!

  • New Macbook a good replacement for 12" Powerbook?

I think, besides the inch in display difference, that the new macbook WOULD HAVE made a GREAT GREAT GREAT replacement for users loving or wanting the portability, yet pro versatility of the old 12" Powerbooks. I think however that Apple has missed the mark in one BIG BIG WAY! Firewire. People who wanted something like the 12" powerbook wanted the power of the Macbook Pro in a smaller package. Apple hit the nail on the head with incorporating the same graphics performance, by using aluminum, by making it lighter, and by putting in the illuminated keyboard (only in the 2.4 model though). But on the last detail, they missed it. Firewire. there is no workaround. period. Why preload the systems with iMovie when you can't import video from MOST modern digital camcorders? WITHOUT EVEN introducing a new port with adapters (like they did with the Display Port). I think I would've sold my old macbook pro and had instantly purchased the new macbook if Apple had just included that one VITAL port. I would even prefer them putting it in the place of one of the two USB ports. But without being able to import video from my NEW minidv, there is just no way i could buy that macbook and call myself a proud mac owner. What kind of digital hub would that be? Isn't your slogan "works right out of the box."...? what do you guys think about the new macbook being a 12" powerbook replacement??

I have the same situation. I wanted to upgrade from my 12" Powerbook and would move up to the 13" screen of the new MacBook (15" is much too big for my needs). Another family member has the 15" Powerbook and has always liked my smaller size. I was ready to order 2 of the 13" MacBooks and was then stunned to see that Firewire was missing. I have a Sony DV camcorder for movies. It appears Apple expects me to use my old Powerbooks to input the video into iMovie and then transfer it over to my new MacBook. This is not the cutting edge Apple Computer Company that I have been a customer of for 25 years.
If Apple wants to add firewire to the new MacBooks, develop a USB / Ethernet to firewire adapter, or add a 13" MacBook Pro (w/ firewire) to the line-up, they will have a customer. Otherwise, I will hold onto my old Powerbooks until this is corrected.

  • Is an 11.1 V battery a good replacement for a 14.8 V battery?

Hi, I have an HP mini 5101 netbook, it's got a 3 cell 14.8 V 1900 mAh battery and I'd like to buy a battery with a larger capacity. Most of the batteries I've found online have a 10.8 or 11.1 V rating and, though the sellers usually say the battery is compatible I've got my doubts. Are they compatible, or would the netbook switch off every now and then?

Here are the HP part numbers, you can use Google to search for a battery that is an exact replacement for these numbers

  • What is a good replacement for the ATI Radeon X1900 XT on a late 2007 Mac Pro

I recently took my late 2007 Mac Pro to the Apple Store because it was running quite loud.  They diagnosed the problem as the fan on the ATI Radeon x1900 XT video card.  Whie the card works fine otherwise, I was thinking of replacing it.  I noticed some online recommendations that I need to upgrade to perhaps the Radeo HD 4870 if I want to install FCP X on this machine.  I do use the Mac Pro for video editing, but haven't switched yet to FCP X.  Anyone have a suggestion on a replcement video card that will work both on this machine and will be compatible with FCP X.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • What's a good replacement for the reminders app?

Hello everyone, thanks for your input.
I've been on the phone with Apple support about this for some time and it seems that this was a core change made in Yosemite and since I "upgraded" to icloud drive, I can't just back to Mavericks and still having things sync via icloud.
The reminders app no longer supports grouping of completed tasks by the day they were completed, and instead just shows a big list of every reminder ever completed in that list. I have to note what proofs and designs  I make on a time sheet at the end of each pay period and to do that I need to know what task was completed what day. Reminders was a very slick way to keep track of both the things that still need doing as well as see what was completed when. Now that I've installed Yosemite the only way to see completed reminders organized by day is to log into the icloud web interface on an OSX or windows computer and I'm concerned that that's not going to be an option for much longer since iOS 8 and Yosemite have both removed it.   It's a small change but its absolutely core to what I do. It's one of those little workflow things that seems inconsequential but has the potential to accumulate and just totally screw up your my Sundays and delay my pay checks if not done right.  All the solutions I'm coming up with, from tally them in an excel sheet to noting them in the calendar app instead of reminders, to just writing them down on postits are all kind of a clumsy, error-prone steps backward to the point that rolling back to Mavericks is looking like the best option (a painful option but at least it's just a 1-time pain)
Before I start the mess of going in and rolling back to Mavericks and all that that entails I just wanted to see what other options are out there? Surely there's a 3'rd party app that does what reminders used to do.
Ideally I just want it to do 3 things
         1. let me add simple reminders from OSX, ipad or iphone
         2. sync them to all the devices.
         3. let me organize the completed reminders by what day they were completed.
    Thanks!

I would love to see reminders with better snchronization features... Not just between ios and OSX but also between ical-google cal etc...
A good alternative right now is Wunderlist from the Mac app store.
Pretty much does the same thing..
It has Notification and widget snchronization with Yosemite.
It also syncs between Ical Google Calendar, android and ios....
Reminders needs a lot of work in my opinion.
Wunderlist does what Reminders should be doing.
    It definitely addresses 1, 2
3 is also done... You will have to check it out to see if it does it the way you want....
If its for bussiness I would suggest you use the pro paid version for added functionality.
Free version is however great also.

  • Anyone here found a good replacement for Version Cue?

First, yes I realize this is a Photoshop forum. :-P I also posted this in the Version Cue section, but that forum hasn't seen any action in a month so I thought I'd pop on over here too. I'm assuming there are a few Photoshop users in here that use some kind of file management software.
At my company we decided a while back we'd set up Version Cue, and of course it got put off. Today I learned Version Cue is getting ditched, and isn't even included in CS5. (http://www.adobe.com/products/versioncue/)
So,  I'm wondering if any of you have moved on and found a good alternative  option. Version Cue has some very useful things to offer, in theory if  not in practice, so it would be great if there is something out there  that can accomplish the same things. If it's relevant, we use both Windows and Mac here at work.
I've never used a digital assets manager so am open to ideas. I'm assuming that we'd want:
    • Versioning of documents (to roll-back to previous versions)
    • File storage
    • Sharing (perhaps a check-in, check-out system)
    • Commenting ability would be a bonus
    • Multiple users with variable permissions
    • Compatibility with Adobe Drive (allowing access to behind the scenes Adobe data)
Anyone had any success, have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Looking for a good replacement for the Palm PDA - that can sync w/ ical

  • IWeb - looking for replacements for 'blog' & 'photos'

With a deep Sigh..., I am finally facing up to the fact that I must move my iWeb Websites to another hosting sight and deal with the loss of the intergrated blog & photo pages that come with iWeb.  I kept hoping for a miracle but now I must get on with it.  I would be grateful for advice from those who have dealt with this issue already.
My biggest concern is finding suitable replacements for the blog and photo galleries that can be embedded into iWeb having a matching 'look and feel'.
I have developed many robust (well of 50) websites with iWeb and they are active websites.   The websites have:
Custom layouts (i.e. not using the suppled defalut template)
Blog pages (used as 'News' entries)
    Photo pages
    iMovie
    HTML Snipits
Many have been designed for use with charity events and recieve quite a bit of traffic (see stats below) before and during the event.
As for the hosting - we will use GoDaddy or other Domain Provide with Hosting services.   We have already moved some of the more less complicated websites over.
I love iWeb (I know it has it's faults and I have probably pushed it to it's limits but it has handled it well).  I have tried looking at other products like Rapidweaver & Freeway Pro (Dreamweaver would be out of the question for me as I'm not a programmer - I can deal with some basic html code for snippets and such - but that's my limit).  My partner has begun looking at Wordpress.  However, the biggest drawback from what I've seen from these other products is that I can't duplicate the freedom and ease of designing a template/layout the way I want it.  I have tried to duplicate a website I have done in iWeb and I simply can't do it with these other products (at least without a great deal of work - if at all).
So, I wish to continue using iWeb for the main website desgin but desparately need to find good replacements for the blog and photo galleries to move over my existing websites.
    Please HELP!
This is my 1st time up on the forums so I do apologise if this has been dealt with before.  In my searches - I just haven't really found an answer which is why I'm submitting this question.
    Many thanks, MichelleSC
P.S. I have been an Apple user since Apple began and have always raved about their products.   This is the 1st time I have been frustration with Apple.  I really wish they would continue to develop iWeb and keep Mobileme.

Do you have visitors post comments to your blog or it is one the only includes your entries?  If it's the atter then you can continue to use the iWeb blog. If you currently have visitors comment on the entires you will have to move to a new blogging system, one of those suggested by Ethmoid and Jeff.
As for photo albums I've just run across a new site called ZangZig which offers albums similar to MobileMe galleries with most of it's features plus one that MMe didn't have.  The capability of selling your photos.
One convenient feature of it is that it can move/copy photos from your existing MMe galleries as well as your iPhoto library and other sources:
As for for iWeb can do after MMe is gone read the following:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.  There's a link in the tutorial to download the file that one needs to be edited and replaced in existing slideshows and in the iWeb application for future slideshows. Once replaced in the application it's back to life as usual for iWeb.

  • Replacement for iTunes

I recently, after using iTunes for years, started having big problems with iTunes 7.7.1. Songs are stopping and starting (to update info?), when just picking a new song it hangs up for a few seconds, and in general iTunes seems to be hogging all of the CPU. After exhausting all possibilities, I reinstalled my system, installed iTunes 7.6.2, and re-imported my 160 GB library.
This did not fix my problem. If I play any of these files in the preview window they do not skip. iTunes is really a pathetic JOKE!
Does anyone know of a good replacement for iTunes. I write music for a living, so setting up playlists and cross-referencing etc. is a very important for me professionally.
    Thanks.

    Hi William.
Just to add to the equasion. I am running Tiger 10.4.11 and have installed the latest iTunes update. I've been lucky with the new update, so I can't speak to that. But before and since the update I have never had any issues with iTunes using Tiger. If I had to pick, my guess would be the update (or backdate) is causing the problems. Here is the link to iTunes support:

    I hope this helps.

  • Replacement for ClarisDraw?

Can anyone recommend a good replacement for ClarisDraw as a general drawing program? My PPC must run in Classic to use it, of course, and I would like eventually to minimize the number of apps that need to run under Classic. It still works fine, but the print function has quit (don't know why), so I have to save a document as a PICT file, then convert in GraphicConverter to JPEG in order to print. And then I have to keep the original ClarisDraw document if I want to edit it later.
Is CorelDraw anywhere near as good a program as ClarisDraw? Any other candidates for Mac OS X 10.4.10?

I think I've found it. After fooling around with the Demo version of EasyDraw, I just couldn't get comfortable with it. Today I tried the demo version of Intaglio and it just felt right. It's a whole lot more like ClarisDraw than EasyDraw was. http://www.purgatorydesign.com/Intaglio/

  • Is FileMaker Pro a replacement for Appleworks??

I love Appleworks(using the newest version) and have been using it for years. My database recently got corrupted and this is not the first time I've had problems.
Please share thought about Filemaker. I work for myself and my needs are primarily database related. for the financial end, i'm using MYOB.
    Thanks!!

    Hello,
Filemaker is a lot more powerful then AppleWorks and it should be a very good replacement for the AppleWorks database. But you can see for yourself if it is the right thing for you. Filemaker is offering a 30 day trial version (see link below).

  • Replacement for the J6400

We currently have a HP OfficeJet J6400 All-in-One Printer.  It works fine and we are happy with it.  However, our platforms are changing.  We both have iPhones, iPads and iPods.  We need to migrate to an Air Printer in order to make better use of our technology.  It's a pain to have to send something to another platform (laptop) and then print.
My question is, which HP with Air Print would be a good replacement for the J6400.  We still want all the features of an All-in-One.
    Thanks,

    Hello jghannah
For a list of AirPrint printers check the right hand side of this page.
I personally think either the Officejet 6500A Plus or the Officejet Pro 8600 would be perfect for your upgrade. They share a similar design to that of the Officejet 6400 series. They all have Airprint as well. For a good comparison between them check out the following link: Officejets with Airprint Comparison
