EA2700 5GHz problem

Hi,
6 months ago I purchased EA2700. I used both 2.4 and 5GHz bands with no problems on several devices (LG G2, iPad, LG G Pad 8.3, Panasonic Viera 50ST50E). Today the 5GHz band stopped working. I reset the router and setup the same way as it was before. Since that LG G Pad 8.3 and Panasonic Viera 50ST50E can't see the 5GHz band.
Any ideas what can be wrong?

How did it go after you manually reconfigured the settings? Did it  resolve the connectivity challenge on the 5Ghz side? You may have to do firmware update if same thing persists. You may get the firmware from this link, http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/EA2700

Reset the router right after the upgrade. Do it by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds while the device is powered on. Unplug the unit after that. 
Reinstall the settings.

    I have just purchased an E2000 for my home network.  No real difficulties so far except that when I try changing the band to 5Ghz it doesn't seem to broadcast.  Neither of my N enabled laptops see the router.
    is there some other setting I need to change?

    I had the same problem when trying to configure with my iMac.  It's not as simple as "Most likely your laptops don't support the 5 GHz band. 802.11n does not mean it supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz" and "Only if the wireless card is compatible to 802.11a/b/g/n it will operate on 5 GHz as well".
    The specs on my iMac are:
      Supported PHY Modes: 802.11 a/b/g/n
      Supported Channels: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165
    This means that it supports 5GHz (supported channels 36-165), though I completely lose connection when I attempt to change the setting through the online site.  I am wondering if the 5GHz signal falls off faster than the 2.4GHz signal and maybe that is why the iMac is not seeing the network.  Any new suggestions would be appreciated.

  • 5GHz problems and Snow Leopard

    Since upgrading my Macbook to Snow Leopard, connectivity to my Airport Extreme is unreliable on the 5GHz band. Occasionally it detects and connects to the 5GHz n network, but most of the time it can't detect it at all, and only connects to the 2.4GHz g network. Rarely, toggling wifi on/off will find the 5GHz network. It had worked for years on 5GHz n only prior to the update.
    Have tried multiple hard resets etc
    The strange thing is that my Macbook Pro and Mac Pro with Snow Leopard have no issues with joining the same 5GHz network.
    All firmware is up to date.

    "Automatic" means the base station will attempt to pick the most interference-free channel at boot time.
    The problem is the base station never tries to pick a different channel if interference becomes an issue between then and now.
    So say "automatic" picked channel 6, and between then and now your neighbor bought a Wi-Fi router and also configured it to use channel 6; until you reboot your base station, you're not going to get much done.
    The "automatic" channel selection logic is also not perfect, so it may simply make the wrong choice.

    Welcome to the Forums.
    That hardware ID is pointing to the BCM1503HMGIPAD_NT61, which has a chip of BCM4313.
    The BCM4313 chip is a b/g/n only card that only supports 2.4Ghz (no 5Ghz support).

    I've a LG G3 D852 (Canada Model)
    2.4Ghz network is visable on the WiFi List but not the 5Ghz network
    My other Motorola router from SHAW do shows both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz network on my LG G3.
    anyone know how to config E2500 to make the 5Ghz network shows on a a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band supported smartphone ?

    Actually the 5 GHz band has a shorter range compared to a 2.4 GHz band because in radio frequencies, the higher the frequency the shorter its range. In other words, if you are using a lower frequency like the 2.4 GHz, the distance it will cover will be greater than the 5 GHz band. If you still want to connect it to the 5 Ghz, you may try updating the router’s firmware. Don’t forget to reset and reconfigure it afterwards.

    Maybe you can help me out. I'm currently running turbo OC @ 4.4ghz stable. When I set the Turbo ratio to 45, i always fail the prime95 test or get bsod. Below is my hardware and bios settings:
    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
    COOLER: Thermalright Venomous-X
    MOBO: MSI Z77A-G45
    RAM: G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR (4GBx2) CL 9-9-9-24-2N 1.5V XMP
    I followed most of the settings from xmad/Froggy Gremlin on this post - https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164847.0. Any other settings I can tweak? Or do I need to go manual and set the vcore voltage to 1.3+?

    Can you please send me your stable 4.4GHz OC profile for your Z77a-g45 + 3570K CPU configuration? I find it VERY dificult to go beyond 4.2 GHz stable. Thanks!

  • Cant use 5GHZ on my Macbook Core 2 Duo

    HI im having trouble using the 5ghz radio. I seem to lose signal after about 60-70 feet. there arent huge walls between the office and the playroom. Any suggestions. Im also finding that my Extreme N range on 2.5 ghz only reaches about 80-90 feet and then the signal falls. I have had to try and extend the range using my Airport express but then i only get b&g range so file transfer between my intel core iMac(plugged via ethernet into the extreme) and macbook pro is much slower. Any suggestions on sorting out the 5ghz problem and extending the range without losing faster data transfer?

    The 5GHz spectrum is effective only at short ranges since it's more susceptible to interference.
    The distances you mention aren't trivial if there are walls and other interference involved. You might want to try a second AEBSn to extend the wireless network.

  • Mountain Lion WiFi: Major Problem

    I have a late 2011 17" MBP and did a clean install of 10.8.  Ever since that time, I am unable to maintain a useable connection to certain access points.  At first it seemed like the internet was slow, but eventually pages loaded and I didn't think too much of it.  But then I started accessing lots of files on my home server (OS 10.6.8 Server) and the Finder was beachballing with nearly every click.  I plugged in an ethernet cable and all the problems went away.  Went back to wireless, the beach balls and sluggishness came back.  Then I rebooted to my 10.6.8 partition and connected and used the network just fine on the wireless, as I had been for years before on this MacBook and my previous MBP.
    After searching through forum posts I saw that some people were blaming this Mountain Lion bug on whatever runs the 5Ghz connections.  So I forced my MBP to connect to the 2.4Ghz radio.  While I did have one glitch (a video didn't play smooth over the network initially) it has basically been solid ever since. Yesterday I spent the day at a client where I run the network and my 5Ghz problems came back.  I would have to power cycle the Airport to get the connection useable again.  Both my home network and this client's are running with Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex 7363 access points.  At home I also have an Airport Extreme from a few years ago that I use as a router with wireless disabled.  I turned that on and while I didn't really use it for all that long, it seemed to work at 5Ghz--but I didn't really use it that long and need to do more testing.
    My exact setup:
    1) Clean install of 10.8
    2) Late 2011 MBP 17"
    3) Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex 7363 firmware 7.3.x
    I hope this is fixed soon or someone discovers a workaround.

    +1 -- I'm basically in WiFi h*ll since upgrading. 10.8. Injected all sorts of issues on my network and devices where 10.7 was rock solid. Mid 2009 15" MBP dropping connections on Linksys E4200 at 5GHz. If I switch to 2.4 GHz, no issues. At home I have an Airport Extreme running 2.4 and 5Ghz. I am experiencing drops on 5GHz there as well. I upgraded to 10.8 instead of a clean install, but from reading the forums that doesn't work either.  I have a Mac Mini that is wired and no problems.
    A couple of other interesting pheneomenons since upgrading;
    new model Airport Express: 
    I bought one the same day as upgrading to 10.8 and immediately encountered issues setting up the AP to extend the Airport Extreme network on 5GHz (kept returning "encountered unkown errror" when writing the configuraiton to the AP). I had to use the old 5.6 Airport Utility to get it to save and 2.4GHz to keep devices from losing their connections. Other weird thing is the 'Back to My Mac' icon on the Airport Express stays yellow where the Airport Extreme turns green.
    new model Apple TV 3:  
    Flawless prior to upgrade day. Now, no longer works on either frequency. Started with dropping Home Sharing connections, then progressed to losing WiFi altogether. It won't even run on the ISP provided router at this point. If I do a reset or a full restore in iTunes, it works for about 5 minutes and then drops the connection and resets itself to the main screen with only a 'Settings' and 'Computers' icon.
    I know, possilby conincidences and unrelated but curious issues for sure. I've pulled out each piece and tried to see where the problem returns but no luck. I have recommended and deployed a lot of Apple devices over the years and this is the first time I've ever had problems. One family member seems to be having a similar issue with a new Apple TV3, Airport Extreme and iMac on 10.8 combination. A little embarrassed for having made those recommendations now. The only thing that solves it for me is rolling back to 10.7

  • Problems with EA2700 and Android devices

    I enjoyed EA2700 for more than 3 months so far until I decided to change my cell phone to Galaxy S3.
    I have my router operating 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz simultaneously, providing perfect internet access to my two windows 7 laptops, mac mini and iPad. This is not the case when I try to hook my Galaxy S3 phone and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. This two korean devices have a real problem using the router for internet. Both the tablet and the phone connect to the router and have strong signal, but there is no ping going through nor any other internet app works. The router is set to WPA2/WPA Mixed personal sec mode and auto channel. I even try to make it open, but even then the Android devices connect but don't have an internet access. In the same time the rest of the home pcs and mac work perfectly.
    I tried, for the two last days different approaches like upgrading the router firmware, installing the cloud and the smart wi-fi interface, removing the security and opening the network…. it didn't work! What I figure out so far that if I set a guess account the devices connect without problem and have internet, although I have to manually enter  the password for the guess account, which dialogue is provided through a web page you have to navigate to before attempting to use internet. I though the problem could be with the Samsung s3 and the tablet 2 7.0,  and had them several time reset to their factory settings.
    I tried connecting and old WRT 120N router and it worked fine!!!! just this EA2700 is still not usable with android devices running Android 4.0 OS.
    Has somebody experienced the similar problem please share the found solution, otherwise I have to change the EA2700 i guess.

    you may wanna try using Wireless B/G Only for network mode on 2.4GHz. check if your devices can connect to the network successfully. there was an issue with Android devices connecting to N networks before so this might be a fix. however, it will rate limit your connection speeds to 54Mbs at best.
    there's also a workaround you can try on the android devices. ensure wifi is set to enable at start up. turn off wifi and reboot the device. verify your connection status. since your devices have already connected to the network, they should reconnect to the network automatically. check if you can go online from there.

  • Problems wirelessly extending 5Ghz network with Time Capsule

    Summary:
    My Time Capsule wirelessly extends a 5Ghz "n" network provided by my Airport Extreme, but the Time Capsule frequently fails and stops providing Internet access to connected computers. I'm not sure if the problem is with the Time Capsule or with the Airport Extreme it's connecting to.
    Setup:
    Airport Extreme (dual band) connected to cable modem. It provides a 5Ghz "n" network and a 2.5Ghz "b-g-n" network. This is in the bedroom.
    Time Capsule (non-dual band) joins the 5Ghz network and extends it. This is in the office, maybe 40 feet away, line-of-sight. There is a laser printer connected to the Time Capsule via ethernet.
    My MacBook is set to join the 5 Ghz network, and since it's in the office, it ends up joining via the Time Capsule. This is the desired behavior, as connecting through the Time Capsule seems to result in the fastest possible backup speed.
    There are no wireless devices, such as cordless phones, in the house. The microwave is NOT in use when the problems arise.
    *The Problem:*
    Frequently, the MacBook loses its Internet connection, though it is still connected to the 5Ghz network through the Time Capsule. When this happens, it can only see the Time Capsule it's connected through (and other devices that are connected to it) but no other devices on the network.
    When this happens, other devices that are connecting to the 5Ghz network through the Airport Extreme can no longer see the Time Capsule or any devices connected to it, such as the laser printer or my MacBook. This includes the living room computer, which has never been able to complete a backup due to this problem.
    The Time Capsule's and the Airport Extreme's indicator lights both stay green.
    If I change the Macbook's connection to the 2.5Ghz network, it can see the devices connected to the Airport Extreme, but can no longer reach the Time Capsule.
    *Unsuccessful Solutions:*
    This was happening in a previous incarnation of the network, when I had a non-dual band Airport Extreme providing the main network, the Time Capsule connected via 5Ghz, and an Airport Express connected via ethernet to the Time Capsule to provide a b-g network.
    I replaced the Airport Extreme with a new dual-band unit to simplify the setup, but it did not solve the problem.
    Since the Time Capsule seemed to be the weak link in the network, I reported the problem and got the unit replaced, but the problem still persists.
    I've reset both the Airport Extreme and the Time Capsule to their factory settings numerous times, and set them up again from scratch (no imported settings). I've gone in and made sure that there were no WDS settings leftover from the earlier configuration, as the 5Ghz network does not need it to extend itself.
    *Plea for help:*
    Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem?

    The other day, I modified the setup so that the Time Capsule doesn't extend the wireless network wirelessly, only through Ethernet (so the attached printer will work, but the computers will connect directly to the AEBS. The Time Capsule stayed connected long enough for me to do a full backup (125GB) from the downstairs computer.
    I thought I had it "solved" (though extending the 5Ghz network would be preferable so the office computers can have faster backup speeds.)
    But yesterday, I went to print to the Ethernet-attached printer, and it got only one page out before it disappeared off the network again, and the print job failed. I noticed it did it again, today.
    So the problem is not tied to wirelessly extending the network.

  • MacBook Air and problems with Time Capsule in 5GHz Radio Mode

    We have our Time Capsule configured to 802.11n only (5 GHz). We've done this to work more efficiently in a particularly noisy wireless area. The problem is that the MacBook Air can't maintain a connection to it and when it loses the connection, the wireless interface seems to disappear from the Mac altogether - the wireless status indicator just shows an empty cone. The only solution is a restart. Sometimes it loses the connection after a couple of hours, sometimes within minutes, though it always goes eventually. All other machines on the network are fine, and switching the Time Capsule to 802.11n only (2.4 GHz) solves the problem, though there's a lot of noise at that frequency and our network performance as a whole suffers.
    I know there's similar threads around dealing with the MBA and wireless issues (I've tried all the solutions vaguely related, e.g. deleting and recreating the wireless interface), though none that deal with this specific problem, which I'm convinced is caused by the radio mode of the Time Capsule.
    All software / firmware is the latest:
    MacBook Air 10.5.2 Wireless Card Firmware Veriosn Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (4.170.46.5)
    Time Capsule Version 7.3.1
    I was hoping the recent firmware updates would sort this... any one else running a Time Capsule in 5GHz mode with a MacBook Air?

    I'm running my TC in 5ghz mode with my MBA. My original problem was the lack of signal strength coming from my AEBS caused the MBA to have a slow connection. There are a number of pipes in the wall that separates the two rooms where my MBA lives and the AEBS is.
    So, I hard wired the TC to the AEBS and placed the TC in the room where my MBA lives most of the time. Now that the signal strength is really good I'm not having any issues.

  • Why does my 5th gen airport extreme go on the fritz and disconnect all 2.4GHz devices when one device connects with 5GHz? I've done some research and it seems other people have had this problem too? I'm very frustrated and want my money back

    Running an apple tv 3rd gen, iPod 4th gen, iPhone 4s, windows vista laptop, and Xbox 360 with media center. 2.4GHz devices work great when apple TV is connected with ethernet, but as soon as I switch the apple tv to wireless, the 5th gen AEBS kicks over to 5GHz, my 2.4GHz devices lose connection and I can't reconnect my 2.4GHz devices, until I do a hard reset of my AEBS and reconfig the network with my iPhone, if I use the airport application for PC, my wireless devices still won't connect. I bought this router 20 days ago so I could run dual band wireless, if I wanted to limit all my stuff to 2.4ghz, I would've got a g router and saved some money. This thing supposedly has 3 antennas, one for 2.4, one for 5, and one for the guest network, so why do I loose my 2.4 when it "switches" to 5GHZ if it's supposedly always broadcasting both freq's????????

    I had a problem with dual bands running almost everything you have there. When I'd have a iPad and MacBook running, I'd turn on my 360 and I'd loose all connections though. Until a hard reset and the same cycle. I returned my airport a day later for a new one. No problems since. I had a faulty one. Not saying yours is, but mine was. I troubleshooted everything from options, manual setup, everythinggggggggg. It was a wasted 7plus hours to find out it was faulty. I have a pc, MacBook, apple tv, 360, and 2 iPads using it now flawless.

  • 802.11n 5ghz Connection Problem with OS X 10.4.11 Tiger

    I've searched the communities for answer to this vexing issue to no avail, so I am trying a post.
    Situation:
    I have a dual-band 1TB TC at home set up with three networks: 802.11g/b/a, 802.11n ((5ghz), and Guest Network (g/b).  There are four Macs accessing it: (2) mid-2009 15" MacBook Pros, 2009 MacBook Air, mid-2006 24" iMac.  All are running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 except the 24" iMac (Core 2 Duo) running 10.4.11.
    All Macs can connect to to all networks EXCEPT the iMac which has a problem with the 802.11n (5ghz) connection ONLY.  The iMac has the n-enabler installed (can see it registered when looking at Network Utility).  In fact, the iMac will connect but any attempt to access to the Internet or TC disk stalls the system.  Switch back to 802.11g and everything is fine.
    I've looked at the Console for guidance but cannot find anything problematic (to my eyes, anyway).  I booted this iMac to Snow Leopard from an external disk and the problem cannot be duplicated, so I am assuming this is not a hardware issue with the iMac.  I also, did a fresh install of Tiger and updated it to 10.4.11 plus all Airport updates and n-ebabler on an external drive, booted from this drive and have the same issue with the 5 ghz n-connection.
    By the way, when connected to 802.11n (5ghz) network with the iMac, I have full bars on the menubar fan, but then one bar drops after a minute or so.  When this happens, I cannot access the Internet nor the TC disk.
    I've tried various tweaks as described in the many, many discussion threads here: resets, establish new locations, clear/repair the keychain, and many others.
    I did not have this problem in the past with this iMac, so don't know what has changed with the system configuration.  The g-connection is rock-solid, so Internet access is fine, but file transfer speeds ober the network are obviously much slower now than with the 5ghz n-connection.
    Anyone have any ideas?  Without suggesting an upgrade to 10.6...clearly that should do the trick.  I have other reasons for running Tiger on the iMac.

  • IMac and Netgear DGND3300v2 on 5Ghz wireless n network problem

    Hi guys, I'm can't seem to be able to connect my iMac (bought around Christmas 2010) to my Netgear router on 5Ghz wireless N properly.
    Everytime I restarted the iMac, it will automatically connect to the 5Ghz network as I have set it up before. However, as soon as I start trying to use internet in any way, the connection just drops and all I can find then is my router on the 2.4Ghz network, running 802.11g.
    I know the iMac can definitely connect to the wireless N network because I also have Windows 7 Ultimate on it. When I boot to Windows 7, the network works flawlessly. No connection dropping whatsoever.
    Also my MacBook can connect to the 5Ghz with no problems. And it was bought in late 2008.
    My iMac is running Mac OSX 10.6.7. In system profiler, the Airport tab has the following information:

    I've seen some threads saying changing the security on the wireless to WPA2-PSK will solve the problem, and I checked - my router is running using WPA2-PSK.

    If your modem has a capability to be a DHCP server then just configure your EA2700 router as bridged. In that way, the EA2700 router will just act as a pass through device.
