EA3 - Meaning of Navigator Symbols

There are a lot of different symbols inside the navigator panel. Is there a document, link or help function where I can see the meaning of those symbols? I couldn't find anything about that in the documentation or under Help.
E.g. under the "Tables" node I can see 3 different symbols: spreadsheet, double spreadsheet and half a spreadsheet.
Also, why has the symbol for procedures changed to almost the same as functions? IMHO different objects should have different symbols.

The broken table icon is for partitioned table. IMO having the same icon for partition and partitioned table is wrong. A better choice would be the table split horizontally, but one can only do so much with draconian icon real estate limitations.
The multiple table icon is supposedly IOT. Again, I suggest an icon of narrower table with tree on the left would better convey the idea.
As for procedure/function icons, do they really have have so much difference to warrant one being a flowchart, and the other being a function box? (Not to mention that the style was completely mismatched: what was all that green color, some kind of "save the earth" PR stunt?). IMO the only difference is the way the arguments are passed which is reflected in the current design. Hearing people having trouble distinguishing the two, the output arrow has being enlarged.

Meaning of clock symbol next to mailbox

One of my mailboxes in mail.app has a symbol next to it that resembles a clock (a circle in which the sector from noon until 1 o'clock has been shaded). What does this mean? More generally, is there a table somewhere that explains the meaning of all the various icons and symbols that occur here and there in mail?

It means Mail is trying to fetch mail for that folder (usually the Inbox.) If it remains that may mean Mail is not able to connect with your email servers. You may get more information by clicking on the symbol.

Meaning of various symbols found on the outer edge

Good Afternoon.
I just got a new T500 from my company. Nice machine. On the left and front outside are some "symbols" that identify various connection ports. I recognize most (USB symbol, Ethernet connector, external monitor, headphone, microphone) but some I have no clue as to what they are for.
I looked through the manuals that came with laptop (Service & Troubleshooting, Safety & Warranty) but no luck.
I tried Goggling "T500 symbol meaning" but no luck there as well.

there is a figure diagram in your os, press the thinkvantage button next to your sound button to activate it, under the pull down list, there is an option called Help and Support, then when you click on it, there displays further two options, choose the "learn about my computer", then click on "use system feature". Then there is various options that displays the various ports on different side of your computer.

Lost Navigation Symbols in Finder

Hello!
This morning I opened my finder and wanted to drag the "documents" folder on the left navigation side (list with programms, pictures, movies etc.) into my DVD burning application. It did not work and instead the "documents" folder disappeard in a little cloud... The navigation side propably consists of aliases... So how can I get my documents folder back in this list? Thanks for your help!

if you locate your documents folder using Finder, then drag it to the 'SideBar' where you'd like it ( a blue line will appear if you move it between two existing items ), then all should be as before.
You can also highlight the required folder/application in the Finder, and use Command-T keyboard shortcut, or File-Add to Sidebar from the Finder menus.

Meaning of +at symbol

I've looked through the product manual and the following notification is not listed "+@"
I guess it is something to do with email but what does it mean and how do I turn it off?

Just a few weeks ago I purchased a Nokia E71, the phone is excelent!
Could you please tell me where I can find the meaning of some symbols that appears always in my screen ? this simbols are located below the date ( upper right corner ) and I can't find in the user manual any info about them.
Some symbols are the mailbox and other similar to two circles.

the two circles is most likely voice mail the message symbol could be sim messages ,go to messaging then options then sim messages delete them messages

Whenever I create a "Shape", colour it in and then add text inside it. There appears a yellow square symbol with a little person inside on a white background. What does it mean?

That symbol tells you that the text inside the object will be converted to a graphic thereby ensuring readers browsers and systems won't change the font. You can switch it on and off at the preferences section by de/selecting the "show text imaging indicator"

Question 2: How do I know when I'm on internet, and when I'm off it. Is it when a symbol "E" shows up, and then off is when "E" is not visible? ( I don't want to pay for unwanted internet).

Create a pushbutton in table control by dragging it from tool and place it in table control.And then set the name for that pushbutton.Make that push button field as output only field by check/mark -ing a check box of output field in program tab of screen attributes .Now the icon check box for that field will be active .Mark/check that <b>icon</b> check box as well.Once you done this ,then in Loop endloop of table control in PBO do the code like this.

Navigation in UIX Sites (Search From, Master Detail ...) should be left

I have a Problem, like everyone here g
I have some UIX Sites, shown many Data, from Database, so that the width of the site is very great an i can't see the navigation tree. Is there a possibility to get the navigation left, next to the button?! I have this problems in all Lists. I always must scroll to the right end of the page to go to the next results of the shown data from Database.
Look at this picture to see what i mean, ne navigation right, should e next to the "aktualisieren" Button. How can i do this, the element ist not directly in the source code of the page.

Hi,
If you have two different regions in your page for master and details and you want to refresh the child table based on your master row selection then you can use the contextual actions. Raise an event whenever you select a row and send your master-table id as the payload. Have a handler method at the detail page and execute some logic to get the rows for the selected master record.

Navigational Attribute Problem in Input Query

Hi,
I am having a problem in input query implementation which uses a navigational attribute. I have, for eg, only one char 'customer' in rows; i want to exclude the customers with the status D (deleted) from displaying (Status is nav. attr. of customer). I tried this by restricting in filter, Status D-"exclude". But as soon as I do this, query no longer remains input ready! (I also tried putting the same restriction in Default Values area rather than Filter, but ended with the same result )
I discovered that if, furthermore, I put Status in rows (with the above said restriction still remaining), query is again input ready.
Can't we exclude values in the filter on an input query? I want to know if this is a restriction with IP or a bug?

Thanks for the explanation. But this makes me wonder, because due to this restriction one of the BIG advantages queries had over the planning layouts of BPS, seems to be gone. I mean, using navigational attributes for filtering; if we have to always have a single value restriction on a nav. attr., this will really be restricting. Is it expected that this will be changed in a later SP?
And there is another problem that is coming due to this. When I use the exclude filter and also the nav. attr. Status in rows, then the query becomes input ready, but there are warning messges displaying when the query opens saying -
Characteristic Customer has no master data for "C1"
Characteristic Customer has no master data for "C2"
etc... (these are the customers with status D). We are on SP15.
Please suggest what should I do to get rid of these messages?

Symbolic links on Solaris 9 OS/Sun AS 8.01

Hello, we are migrating several applications from SunAS 7 to SunAS8 and have several document directories that were set up on SunAS7. These appear to not be available in SunAS8. A symbolic link would work fine. We have attempted to implement the fix suggested in closed bugs #5015444, 6171573, and 6155565 which say to add the following to domain.xml and/or sun-web.xml:
<property name="allowLinking" value="true"/>
We have added this property and are still getting a 404 browser error. IS this correct or are we missing something? Or, are there any otherways to make content available to the application that is outside of the main war/ear file?

Yes, that's the stats of things in the AS 8.01 and AS 8.1 BETA releases.
For the upcoming AS 8.1 FCS release, we have added a property named "allowLinking" to the <virtual-server> element in domain.xml, with the following meaning:
- Determines whether symbolic links outside the virtual server's
docroot are to be followed.
- Is inherited by all web apps deployed in this virtual server.
Notice that a webapp may override the inherited value by
specifying its own "allowLinking" property in its sun-web.xml,
like this:
<sun-web-app>
<property name="allowLinking" value="true" />
</sun-web-app>
Also in the upcoming AS 8.1 FCS, we've changed the default value of the virtual-server's "allowLinking" property to TRUE.
