EA3500 Phones can connect to wireless router, but cannot transfer data

Ok, Since Cisco is completely helpless on helping me (this is why we are switching from Cisco stuff to other brands like Aruba at my work) I was thinking you guys would help me.  I got hanged up twice on this problem.  TWICE.
So, my phone and my friends phones can connect to the wifi but I cannot receive nor send data from it.  The phones work completely fine elsewhere.  Here is the kicker, my computer works completely OK on the router and my phone used to work for 3-4 hours before this issue started going again.  Now it is constantly.  I restarted the modem, default reset it and still nothing.  I get an IP address too and it stays connected.  Any help.  Cisco thinks its the phone, but its multiple phones that are having the problem and my phone and other works completely fine at other places.

The quickest way to get your phones working is to configure them staticly. More than likely........either your modem, your firewall, your router, or your ISP is blocking the proxy. Try using Google Public DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Disable any proxy blocking features of your modem or firewall.
Sometimes simply changing the DNS on your router to Google Public DNS might fix the problem.

  • Can connect to wireless router but not to the internet

Please Help, I have a WRT150N and I can connect to my wireless router by it will not connect to the internet from there, even though the internet, wireless, and security lights are lit up. If I plug a cord into the back of the router and then into my computer, I can connect to the internet, but once I disconnect the cable, I can still find and connect to my wireless router, but it will not connect to the internet from here. Under access it says "Local Only", I have the security type set to "Shared" under the security properties, and set to "WEP" with WEP key #1 entered. I have spent about 4 hours working on this problem now and could really use some help. Thanks.

Type ipconfig /all in command prompt(cmd.exe) to see whether it displays valid and correct IP, netmask, gateway and DNS info. If not, take a look on these cannot connect to wireless network problem and using ping to troubleshoot network problem articles to get more ideas. Hope it helps..

  • NB200 Can connect to wireless networks, but cannot connect to the internet

I have been able to connect my Win XP netbook to my secure wireless network at home, other people's networks and public networks like the library and McDonalds. This week I'm away from home and discovered that while I can still connect to a number of different wireless networks, I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
I've had this problem once before and fixed it by reinstalling Windows XP and all my other software. I have no idea why it has happened again. I'm hoping for a less drastic solution to the problem..?

    Hi Nakia,
    > I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
Have you tested other browsers like Mozilla Firefox and does this work?
As MasterG wrote try to renew the IP address using the commend line.
Last week I had a similar problem and I could solve it by updating the WLAN driver. Just remove the driver, restart the notebook and install the newest one. :)

  • Can connect to wireless network but no internet?

Ok, I'm sure this is answered somewhere, but I'm tired.
At this point I'm not even sure if it can be done. But... I tried to connect to my mother's wireless internet using my Airport Extreme. I connected to the wireless but was unable to access the internet, or email. I tried manually setting the IP address, DHCP, router, DNS etc. But to no avail. It kept saying "Airport is connected to wireless ..., but it has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet". I got it to accept the new IP address and finally it said " Airport is connected to wireless..., and is connected to the internet" but I still could not get on. It does say on her computer that it is protected by a key. But I used her password to get on and it recognized it? But her password was not the key.
I thought that I could connect to any wireless network with the password?
    Can this even be done?
    Thanks
    A

    Duane,
Thanks for the response. I did not see anything about MAC filtering enabled. It did say encryption was enabled. All I foud was the IP address, router, DNS etc. It is a WEP password and it did accept the password to log on to the network. It's Time Warner and she has a PC. I tried everything, set up new location. I'm going to try to log on to my friends wireless network and see if I can do so there. If my memory serves me right, the last time I tried to log on to a wireless network it didn't work either. Also my mother does not know much about it, someone set it up for her and she is one to not understand these "new fangled things". So...

  • Can connect to wireless network but no internet access

I have a PC that runs on Windows Vista and a wireless network using Airport Extreme. My PC can connect to the wireless network but I cannot access the internet. Windows Network Diagnostics states that 'A problem with your network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection'. There should be no problem with my modem as I can access internet using my powerbook. When I run airport utility on my PC, there is an error message that states that 'An error occurred while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again', 'error -6753'.

I am glad you brought this up. I am having the same difficulty. I run an iMac OS X 10.5.6 with an intel processor and a parallel system to get me on the Windows side. When I try to access the internet using my Airport extreme I cannot access any sites and the internet explorer page pops up with "The page cannot be displayed and sends me to try the diagnose connection problems on the toolbar method. However I can see my base station and all looks fine with the information there. I can also access the internet from my mac side of the computer. It would be nice to use the Windows side to gain access to the net because I have programs for the windows side that need updating. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

  • WRT54G v6 - Can Connect to wireless network but can't access internet

Ok, this is my last resort for help. I spent two hours yesterday with linksys "chat" support to no avail.
    First the techincal details:
OS for all machines = Windows XP
Laptop w/two adapters - one wired, one wireless
    WRT54G v6 upgraded with 1.00.9 firmware
    SpeedStream modem from DSL provider
I have manually set the IP, subnet mask, gateway, primary and secondary DNS for my wireless adapter (using the Alternate Configuration in the Internet Protocol Properties of the Wireless Network Connection). When I connect to the wireless network I see that the IP, subnet, gateway and DNS server IPs are all correct (via ipconfig /all).  I see that I am connected to my SSID (11.0 MBps, signal strength Excellent) however I can't access web sites (the server not found message appears in the browser) nor can I ping the router IP or any other IP (LAN or WAN).
My wired PC works fine with this router. My laptop works fine with this router when wired.
Anyone face a similar situation and have a solution?  Thanks.

    A new discovery...
When I disable the wireless security on the router, I am able to connect to the wireless network, ping the router and access the internet.  So, there is apparently something wrong with the WEP security (although I am able to connect to the wireless network when WEP is enabled).
I am thouroughly confused. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Can connect to wireless network but not to internet

Ok, so I bought a new AEBS and have finally managed to get it set up with my cable modem, and with security on so that the light is green, and not amber... the only problem now is that although I can connect to the wireless network that i have created using the base station, I cannot connect to the internet through it using my MacBook.
I don't have problem connecting my iMac to the net wirelessly using the base unit so am confused.
    Anyone got any ideas?

It is described on Page 51 of "Designing AirPort Extreme 802.11n Networks" (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPortExtreme802.11nNetworks.pdf).

  • TS1398 I can connect to my router, but I have to connect (and type password) every 5-10 minutes. Help!

This all started after I updated the iOS from 5 to 6. My girlfriend does not have this problem, and she hasn't updated her iOS yet. This would make it easy to conclude that the operative system is the sinner. This was (and is) my only Apple product, so maybe you - the community - know more than me on this area.
Any thoughts or experiences on the subject?

Solved at another forum http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23099239-MBP-15-2006-shows-connection-to-networ k-but-internet-fails
Solution: Try removing the following, then restart.
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.network.identification.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.eap.profiles.plist (if it exists)

  • Can Connect via Database Control but Cannot Connect from Enterprise Manager

    Hi experts,
This is a 10g database on a Windows server.
when I remote into the server:
    - I CAN connect via the web-based Database Control
    - I CANNOT connect to any db/instance via regular Ent Mgr - get the ugly "ORA-12154 TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified" error.
I thought both tools used the same connection files (tnsnames, listerner etc), but maybe not.
When db control connects, but Enterprise Manager cannot, what should I check to find the problem?
    Thank you.
    John

    Thanks madrid.
I eventually got it to work by changing the tnsnames.ora in the client_1 folder
    This is the original:
    FS9ENFP1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = PNCLAFDB)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = FS9ENFP1)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    ORCL=
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = PNCLAFDB)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = orcl)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
I removed the EXTPROC entry and added entries for the ORCL and FS9ENFP1 databases, specifying server_database like this:
    FS9ENFP1_PNCLAFDB =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = PNCLAFDB)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = FS9ENFP1)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
Not really sure WHY it is necessary to list an instance twice, once without server name and another with server name... but EM is able to connect now. I simply modeled tnsnames after another Oracle server where EM was able to connect.

  • Can connect to wireless anywhere but home... ??

I'm running a MacBook with OS 10.4.11 (I know... I need to upgrade). My home ISP is Verizon FIOS, and I'm working from the wireless modem/router they provided.
My Dell PC connects to the wireless network without issue.
Both mine and my wife's iPhones (3GS) connect to the wireless network without issue.
The Macbook "looks" like it is connected (the AirPort icon shows full bars and there is a check next to my network name), but launching Safari or Firefox gets me nothing but a "Fail to open page" error. The detail of the error says "you may not be connected to the internet".
If I go to System Preferences > Network > AirPort, the Network Status shows a yellow dot and reads, "AirPort is connected to the network ABC123. AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet."
With the AirPort settings, I see my network name, and WEP password listed is correct.
Within TCP/IP, it is set to 'Using DHCP'. Meaning the IP Address is being assigned by the system, not the "self-assigned" IP the network status mentioned.
If I take the MacBook to Starbucks, a neighbors house, or any wifi hotspot, it connects without a problem, the Network Status shows a green dot, and I can get on the internet with either Safari or Firefox.
    What I've done so far...
    Cleared cache in Safari
    Reset Safari
Removed my network from the Preferred Network list
    Reset the network password
    Renewed the DHCP Lease
Deleted the network configuration from the Keychain
Deleted and added the AirPort (it auto-creates when you delete it)
It seems obvious something with my home wireless network is "locked", but I don't know where. Any suggestions or ideas on how I can get my home wireless "unlocked" are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    DamonIRB

Do you mean like this instead of what I posted as an example?
    IP: 192.168.1.9
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router/Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Correct. I tried the 192.168.2.1 you listed but it said that isn't a valid address for the computer. Took me a minute, but I figured it out...
    BDAqua wrote:
Did you also put those DNS numbers in for Airport?
Yes. What I added is below:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    BDAqua wrote:
In Safari or Firefox try putting this in the URL bar...
    17.149.160.49
    Does that load Apple?
No. I get a different error message - 'Safari was unable to find this address. Check the address to confirm it is correct'
    BDAqua wrote:
Is your Router at home setup to only allow certain Hardware MAC addresses?
I have no idea. How would I know/check that? The router was provided by my ISP, so I don't have much documentation on it. And yes, I've talked to them. They told me that if any device will pick up the wifi it obviously isn't their issue.
    BDAqua wrote:
Is the SSID, (name of your Router), a generic one, like a duplicate could exist close by?
The SSID is the same as my network name (assigned by the ISP). I'm in an apartment complex and see a ton of networks in the AirPort list, but no duplication.
I took the MacBook to the local Apple store to have someone at the Genius Bar take a look. As expected, it connected to their wifi and I was able to browse just fine. When I talked to a Tech, their recommendation was to upgrade the OS. Really?? I was rather disappointed that they didn't have a better answer than that.

HP 4502 shows and active wireless connection to router and router shows 4502 is connected and has MAC pass-thru. HP software install on Dell 1545 computer under Vista x64 was fine until the connect wireless choice was selected. Result was printer was not loaded. Dell does not have bluetooth board so couldn't use wireless direct option on printer. Printer worked well wireless at one time but when internet connection to AOL was lost something went astray. Printing test page wireless while in HP printer control software on computer works fine but that is rather boring after a while, and very frustrating trying to understand why thats' possible when printer does not show as available for connection from any other program. Have uninstalled HP software, cleaned registry, set printer to factory default, powered down and unplugged all, reinstalled from scratch twice with same result. ANy suggestions?

    Hi Sam_lost,
Thank you for your response! I have a few more solutions for you:
Please try going through this guide, An 'Unable to find printer' Error Displays for the HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One and HP Deskjet Ink Adva....
Try this Microsoft Fix It program. Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.
If those steps do not work then try the following:
Backup your files. Back up your files.
Re-install Windows Vista. Installing and reinstalling Windows.

  • Can connect to base station but cannot browse the internet

    Hi,
I have got a MacBook 2GHz Intel Core Duo with Leopard installed (10.5). I have had trouble free wireless internet access for the last 12 months using a Belkin ADSL Router.
Just today I have lost access to the internet completely for both wireless and ethernet.
When I look at the Network dialog for either Airport or Ethernet it says that it is connected and it has got an IP address assigned by the router within the range I would expect. When I use the diagnostic utility it says that everything is fine.
I can browse to the admin pages of the router no problem.
I have reset the router numerous times and also tried the reset of the Mac where you take the battery out and hold the power button down for 5 seconds.
    Nothing has worked.
I have got a PC connected to the same router and it is connecting to the internet fine.
    Any ideas??

    Jon,
Some other thoughts occurred to me...
When did this start? What change, if any occurred just prior to the onset of symptoms?
Have you recently upgraded to Leopard? Did it work after that?
Have you tried connecting to the internet on another wireless network like an internet cafe or a friend's house?
Does your PC, which works, rely on proxy settings to browse through?
Lastly, you asked if your ISP could have caused this. Normally, I would say no because you are connecting to your ISP through a single point and IP address, that of your router. While many ISPs have always wanted to bill their users by the number of computers that are using their services, this has been difficult to do because of the prevalence of IP address sharing granted by the routers that are so common in our homes. It may be possible that your ISP has found a way around this but I remain skeptical.

  • Im having trouble getting my wifi, it connects to the router but isnt getting internet.  My room mates and I can connect our iphones and other devices just fine, help would be appriciated

First time on here and my knowledge with networking and such is very limited, my Mac Pro can connect to the router but when I try to open my browser it wont bring up any webpage.  The only way I can get internet is through an ethernet port, Im basically at a loss for what to do.

You will find the AirPort icon (looks like this ) on the OS X menu bar. Option (or right) click the icon, and you should be greeted with a drop-down menu. All of the parameters I mentioned should now appear after the name of your Wi-Fi network.
The meaning of each of the values are as follows:
PHY Mode = The radio mode that your Mac Pro is connecting with.
Channel = The radio channel the Mac Pro is connected to.
RSSI = Received Signal Strength Indication. It's an indication of the power level of the signal as preceived by the Mac Pro's internal Wi-Fi antenna. Typically the higher the RSSI number the stronger the signal. RSSI is measured in arbitrary units. Some manufacterers use a positive scale, others like Apple, use a negative (0 to -100) instead. For the AirPorts, the less negative the better.
Transmit Rate = Instantaneous maximum date transfer rate of the connection in Mbps (Megabits per second)
MCX Index = Modulation and Coding Scheme. The MCS value identifies a number of things, including the number of spatial streams used in the Wi-Fi connection between the Mac Pro and the AirPort router. A larger or smaller MCS value is meaningless. Instead, it defines the actual connection type. In turn, the type can play a significantly on the potential bandwidth performance.
