EA3500 router, can't connect hp 4795 photosmart printer

I just got this router in the mail today, and connected it to my network. I tried to connect my priner to my network via the device menu, and it's not coming through the list of available connections. So I tried connecting through the linksys smart wifi menu under device list > add device and theirs no option to do so other then connecting it through the usb. Is there another way to do this, cause I had the cisco valet before hand and I didn't have to do that before.

How about a power cycle? Power down the router and the printer for a minute and re-connect the printer. Ensure that you are successfully connected to the network and check again if the printer will appear in the Device List.
Another way is to connect it using the WPS feature as shown on this guide.
You may also try to manually update or re-flash the router’s firmware. Download the firmware here and check out the guide from this link.
I hope this helps.

  • Can't connect wirelessly HP Photosmart C4780 to MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

    Hi!
Didn't know exactly where to direct this question in the Apple Community so I chose Airport.  To everyone, thanks in advance.
I’m really desperate. I’m a big Apple fan.  I have two Apple MacBook Pro laptops with Mountain Lion software.  I also have an Apple Airport Extreme.  My HP Photosmart C4780 printer was also purchased from Apple.  Anyway, my Internet service is AT&T.  AT&T just upgraded my service with a new modem/router (AT&T U-Verse).  Prior to the conversion, my wireless printer connection was working perfectly.
Now can’t print wirelessly. For your information, everything is connected via Wi-Fi. The AT&T technician stated that I no longer needed my Apple Airport Extreme, so it was removed.  Naturally, after the tech leaves, we find out the HP printer wirelessly no longer works.  Thinking that removing Airport Extreme may have been the problem, I reconnected it to the AT&T modem/router, however no change.
This appears to be an HP printer problem.  I went to HP community support with the information below but I have received no solutions outside of buying a new printer.
“Ran the HP wireless network test report and it states that HP printer can’t find wireless router and to verify that the HP printer network name (SSID) matches the wireless router network name (SSID) exactly.  The Diagnostic Summary in brief:  Wireless On & Working & Security – Pass; Network Name (SSID) Found – Fail. Nothing else under diagnostic summary ran.  Under Configuration Summary:  It shows old SSID name and Mac Hardware Address but no IP Address.
Next ran the Network Configuration Page and everything is enabled except the 802.11 Wireless.  It shows status – disconnected.  Under general information it states the following: Network status  - Offline; Active Connection Type - None; URL(s) for Embedded Web Server – http://0.0.0.0.”
To be straightforward, I’m no computer tech so I don’t know what this means or where to find.  The AT&T tech provided me the new SSID Name and a wireless key number but that’s it. Also I uninstalled and reinstalled via USB. The HP message states can’t find router. At this point, I’ve tried everything to reconfigure without success. If I need to make these changes via Airport Extreme Utility 6.0 not easy to find not that I know what I’m doing.
Most importantly if I ever get wireless working again, do I still need Airport Extreme connection or is the AT&T U-Verse modem/router sufficient?
Any direction or help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you for listening.

Thank you for your prompt response.  I'll be honest I'm a retiree and a newbie to all of this stuff. I don't even know how to do a thread. (Embarassing) This is my first ever contact with the Apple Community so I'm slowly trying to figure this out as well.
As to your thread request, I'm assuming you want to read my post with HP.  Not knowing how to thread, I've copied it below.

Re: Can't connect wirelessly HP Photosmart C4780 to MacBook Pro OSX  10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
I finally figured it out! (Sorry that I'm replying to my own posts btw, but I want to post the solution for anybody else with the SigmaplusEOL1 problem). If you have the SigmaplusEOL1 as your SSID when you  print the "Wireless Network Test Report", you do NOT need to return it (I know that's hassle for people).  To fix the problem, follow these steps.
    1) Unplug your printer.
    2) Go to your router's IP address (like 192.168.1.1 or whatever it is for your router).
    3) Change the SSID of your wirelss network to "SigmaplusEOL1".
    4) For the Security option for your wireless network select none (so that a password is not required to access your wireless network).
    5) Power your printer back on and reprint "Wireless Network Test Repor". It should say "No problem found..."
    6) The report should also have a the IP Address of the printer (under Configuration Summary at the bottom). Type that IP Address in your browser to get to the printer's settings page.
    7) Click the "Network" Tab at the top.
    8) Under the "Connections" header in the left pane, click "Wireless (802.11).
    9) Click "Start Wizard" at the bottom right.
    10) In the wizard, change the SSID and encryption (wep or wpsk) password to whatever you want your wireless network to be. So probably whatever it started out as before you changed the SSID to SigmaplusEOL1
    11) Click "Finish" at the end. The page will probably try to keep loading but it won't because you changed the network settings of the printer. Just ignore that
    12) Go back to your router's IP address and change the SSID and encryption password to whatever you changed the printer's SSID and password to.
13). Reprint the Wireless Network Test Report. It should say the SSID is the same as your wireless, and everything is good.
That's it. You should be good to go now.
Re: Can't connect wirelessly HP Photosmart C4780 to MacBook Pro OSX  10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
Thank you for your prompt response.  This has been a totally frustrating experience.  I’ve spent at least 8 hours trying to fix this.  My HP problems and your initial steps were identical to mine.  I am by no means a tech person and my computer tech knowledge is minimal.  However I followed your steps to the best of my ability.
I did get the SigmaplusEOL1 message.  I was able to get to Step 6 where the wireless network test report now reads – “HP printer settings do not match your wireless router settings.”  So I guess this is a step in the right direction.  However unfortunately the Configuration summary message for the IP Address reads – “Not Applicable”.  (Note: changing SigmaplusEOL1 to network name knocked out my Internet access.  Had to switch back to regular network name to regain access.)
I’m at a loss as to what to do next.   Without the IP Address is it possible to move forward?  As I stated earlier, I’m not a tech person.  As to your steps 7, 8 and 9, I can’t find them on my computer or maybe I’m looking in the wrong places.  In System Preferences - Network, I have none of these steps.  If you’re referring to Airport Utility, with the changes in Mountain Lion, these steps are no longer there. If you’re talking about Safari, Firefox or HP, now I’m really lost.
Finally, I don’t know if you can answer this or not.  If I ever get wireless working, do I still need Airport Extreme or is the AT&T U-Verse modem/router sufficient?
Again thank you for your time and patience.
Re: Can't connect wirelessly HP Photosmart C4780 to MacBook Pro OSX  10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
Unfortunately I am unable to offer any further advice as I only followed the instructions listed on the other page.
Finally, as to having WEP enabled, I don't know.  Don't even know where to look.  The best that I could determine is that my security is WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I'm truly sorry about all of this.  Thank you for your time and patience.  After reading all of this and you change your mind, I would understand.

  • How to connect to hp Photosmart printer

HOw do I connect  my hp Photosmart printer to print from my iiPad

First make sure its in the list of supported printers here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you confirm its supported. You'll need to set the Printer up to connect to your Wifi Network. Follow the Printer's manual to do so.
Once that is done go to an App that can print such as Notes, or Mail, and click on the Send icon. (The rectangle) with the arrow coming out of it to one side, or simply the Arrow twisting to one side).
Select Print , and then click on Select Printer, the iPad will attempt to find the Printer on your wireless network, if it recognizes it, you'll then be able to click the Print button to immediately Print. No setup is really necessary.

  • Can't connect my HP Photosmart c309g-m printer to my Linksys WRT54GC router. "No filtering = FAIL"

I'm having trouble connecting my HP Photosmart c309g-m to my Linksys WRT54GC router.  The diagnostics report states "No filtering = FAIL" in all my attempts.
First I had set up the wireless security of the router with a WPA2 Personal passphrase.
Because that didn't work, I downgraded my security to WPA, since the diagnostics report suggests that that's what it's actually using for encryption. This didn't work either.
I double and triple checked the MAC address of the printer in my Wireless MAC filter settings. It was correct. However, it still didn't connect.
Grudgingly, I turned MAC filtering off. However, the printer still wouldn't connect.
Now I'm out of options. Any possible ideas for this problem?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Here are a few ideas:
    1. Make sure the SSID is being broadcast.
    2. Make sure that DHCP is active.
    3. Do not use MAC filtering (it is not a good security measure, anyway).
    4. Change the router channel to 11.

  • Reset router, can't connect to net - need help

Here's my situation, I spent an hour digging through previous posts trying to solve my issue with no luck.
Had Cavtel DSL running to a Linksys wrt54g ver.2 router which was working fine.  My brother needed access to the network but we forgot the password which was set about 2 years before.
I hit the reset button on the back of the linksys router and promptly lost access to the internet from my computer.
I contacted linksys help over the phone and after dealing with someone in India he told me that they would charge me to walk me through it.  I disconnected and tried cavtel... They told me to plug the cavtel modem directly to the pc.  I still couldn't access the internet at this point.
She then had me modify my tcp/ip settings and gave me nifty numbers that allowed me to get back online.  I asked her about the router and she said, oh just plug the modem into it and it will self detect everything and emphasized that I should call linksys and they'll be GLAD to help me out...
Needless to say, I plugged the internet into the router and once again can't get online.  I then tried to backtrack and plug the pc back directly to the modem and can't connect to the internet once more.  Contacted cavtel and their response was the classic, well we got you working directly we can't help you with router issues.
I don't have the install cd anymore, and I haven't a clue what to do to fix this.  Top this off, there are no other wireless networks around my house so I can't access this forum from home or any online 'easy help' tools or programs.
Anyone have any suggestions???  And yes I know the basics of accessing the modem, the 192.168.1.1 etc etc admin password.
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Configuration for DSL connection:-
Before doing the following steps, you have to connect the modem to the
router's Internet Port and the computer to the Ethernet Port Number 1.
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
    ===================================================================
Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
    click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP ?. Click on the Save Settings
    button.

  • RV180 behind DSL-ROUTER can't connect with QuickVPN

    Hello,
I want to ask if is possible to configure the RV180 behind my DSL Router to connect using QuickVPN. First I tried to connect to the PPTP server and worked fine, but when I tried to connect using QickVPN, seems to connect but when the client says "verifying network" after a while appears the message "network not responding..."
In my DSL-Router forwared this ports: UDP: 500,4500,443,60443 - TCP: 443,60443 (i don't know if tcp ports are needed but I opened for testing) and allowed protocol ESP (comes with the rule to allow IPSEC-L2TP)
    Thanks!

    Hello Siva,
From where I have to test reachabilty? From the computer where I have installed the QuickVPN client I can reach de WAN interface of the DSL-Router, which is doing NAT and forwarding the ports I said to the WAN interface of my RV180. The network betwwen DSL and RV180 is using private ips.
    The schema is:
    Internet ---- (public ip) dsl router (192.168.1.1) ---- (192.168.1.50)RV180(10.0.0.1) ----- my network 10.0.0.0/24
In the document you posted is explained:
"Your Cisco router must have a direct public IP address for QuickVPN to work, please check under the status tab and your internet connection type and make sure it has a public IP address and it is not behind another router. This issue is more common with DSL connections; if you are behind another router/modem you should request your ISP to turn it into bridge mode so our router can be the border router between your LAN and your ISP."
It's my configuration. I will look how to turn my DSL router into a bridge. Thanks.

  • Time capsule wireless router can not connect both Macbook and iPad

Currently my new time capsule can only connect my macbook pro wirelessly or by ethernet. My iPad or PC can not been connected to it. I guess the setting for the router is something wrong, but I do not know how to fix it. The settings indicate that there is no DNS address, and the router is off (bridged). I tried to change the router setting, but does not succeed. Sincerely ask for help.

The settings indicate that there is no DNS address, and the router is off (bridged). I tried to change the router setting, but does not succeed. Sincerely ask for help.
Sorry but I need you to clarify.. router is off.. what router are you talking about??
If the clients do not have DNS, have you tried just supplying the standard google dns ie... 8.8.8.8 (very lucky number for Chinese) or 8.8.4.4
    http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
You can usually set dns manually whilst still using DHCP for IP address.
But better to start again.. reset the TC..
Give it a simple name .. no spaces.. all alphanumeric.. the default name is NOT windows networking valid.
eg I name my TC.. TC1
Wireless name.. same rules.. I use TC24 and TC5 (I use separate names for 2.4ghz and 5ghz as I do not want computers auto swapping bands) I also set channels manually.. again because I do not want them auto swapping channels.
Wireless passwords.. same rules.. you need to make it a bit longer of course.. but pure alphanumeric no spaces.
In the disk area, assuming you want disk access.. then put in the WORKGROUP name.. usually WORKGROUP.. in caps btw.
If you do all that it will usually also work with iPad.

  • Can't connect to a networked printer - Airlink101 USB Print Server

I am new to Mac. I am trying to connect my iMac to a Brother HL-5040 laser printer through an Airlink101 USB print server over my wireless network. The iMac connected to the 802.11g network immediately without any issues which is more than I can say for the other XP machines I own. I have several other Windows PC's networked and they all print just fine. Using the print setup utility, I can find the networked print server and add it to the printer list; however, I can not print. The status monitor indicates that it can't connect. The install directions on the Airlink101 website for the Mac does not seem to match the options that are part of the "add a printer" utilility. Any help would be appreciated.

When we try to add another one of the printers it finds the printer with the IP, it auto-detected the driver, then when I click next, I get an error stating there was an "error connecting to the printer would you continue anyway?"
We try to print but the queue just continuously pauses and nothing gets sent to the printer.
This could be a result of the protocol you selected. IPP is the default listed. If you remove this printer and add again, but this time change the protocol drop menu to HP Jetdirect-Socket, see if this works better for the user.

  • Wireless printing to Canon MX310 fails using D-Link Router - Can't Connect

I recently bought a D-Link wireless router (320), which supports wireless printing and I am trying to set it up to work with MBP. I set it up to run with Windows XP and it works fine with no problems, but with my MBP it won't work. Here is a screen shot showing the XP set up and the printer server info from the router (bottom).
    http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/1645/printerq.jpg
From this, I've been using the following information to add the printer,
    Protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket
    Address: 192.168.0.1
    Queue: lp1
The printer shows up as idle in the printer selection menu. When I print it goes through the following messages,
    Connecting to Printer...
    Printer Online...
    Printing...
And then the queue clears itself as if it printed, but nothing ever comes out of the printer. At first I assumed it was a problem with the router, but when I tested it with Windows it doesn't have any hang-ups.
Any help would be appreciated with this, as I've read several posts and tried all recommendations but nothing will work. I'm also curious if I have the "Queue" in the printer dialogue right, or if it should be 9100. Thanks in advance!

Based on your Windows port configuration, your Mac printer queue configuration is reasonably correct. Although based on your Windows port configuration, you don't seem to require a queue name of lp1 - this would normally be required for LPD connections.
Your issue will be with the driver used. The Canon Mac drivers cannot be used when you have the printer connected to the USB port of a wireless router or print server (although the exception to this rule is an Airport device). When you have the printer connected via USB to a router or being shared by Windows, then you need to use a CUPS-based driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab (yes I know the Canon driver says CUPS but it is not true CUPS).
The Gutenprint tends to be the preferred driver because it is free, however your MX310 is not listed as a supported model so you would have to experiment with using a model that is supported and this can waste a lot of time and ink/paper.
PrintFab (www.printfab.net) costs 49 Euro but it does support your MX310. A trial version is also available so you could see if the printer does work before making a purchase.
One final note. For your Windows queue you don't need to add the colon 9100 after the IP address. The fact that you have selected RAW and have 9100 set for the Port Number is adequate.
