EA3500 - Windows was unable to connect... (Win 7 and Win 8.1 have done this off and on)...

I recently purchased a Linksys EA3500 router and am using it as the sole router in my home network.  I have primarily had three devices connected to the network computers/tablets -  two running Win7 and one running Win8.1.
The first few days were OK but then the Win 8.1 system would not connect to the network (see the error message below).  "Windows was unable to connect..."  I tried the problem troubleshooter, power cyclilng the comptuer, power cycling the router.  Updating the router firmware to the latest (it added a .1 at the end).  Uninstalling and reinstalling wireless drivers on the computer.  I've reset the router to factory defaults.  I've run the router with and without wifi passwords. 
This morning I was able to connect the Win 8.1 system to the network.  Not sure what changed overnight.  However, today I have had two instances of a different computer, one of the Win 7 systems, suffering the same problem.  Different hardware.  The Win 8.1 system is an Asus T100 tablet/netbook using a Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter.  The Win 7 system is a Dell E6540 laptop using a Dell Wireless  1506 802.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz adapter manufactured by Atheros Communications, Inc.
Last night, when I was having problems with the Win 8.1 system, I should note that it worked fine with the 5 GHz network.  The laptop, however, does not support 5 GHz and now that it's suffering the same problem my only work-around is a cellular hotspot.  
I'm suspecting the router at this point.  Has anyone else seen this?  Any ideas what could be causing it, what I could do to fix it or what I might do to help diagnose the problem(s) ?  I'm more than willing to run third-party software to analyze and better understand what is happening on a network level (I would actually like to understand as much as anyone is willing to get me started on).  
If I am unable to determine why certain systems almost seem to become "banned" from my network while others are working just fine then I'm going to have to return this device and try something else.

You are on the right track. Checking the Wireless MAC Filter is one of the troubleshooting steps. For 2.4 GHz frequency, the suggested channels are 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11. For the 5 GHz, I suggest to use the highest channel. Those channels will give you a better signal, just make sure that no other wireless device is using it to avoid wireless interference.
If only one wireless device is not connecting wirelessly, we should focus on the wireless device itself because we know that the router/access point is working since the other wireless devices are working wirelessly.

    Has your phone been jailbroken?  If so, you will likely never get it to work again.
    You can try placing your phone in DFU mode (search google) and restoring.

    Since other millions of people updated and do not have that problem - it means one of two.
    1.Your friends lied to you and do not have that problem and in that case only your installation of ios7 got corrupted and you need to restore your phone.
    2.Your friends didn't lie to you and all 4 of you need to restore phones (that way reinstalling ios 7 properly)

    Movies are not bought via Netflix, then are rented or borrowed.

  • I have created video with music and pictures.  I have exported it. But all that shows is the music no pictures.  I have done this before and it worked ok.  Am I missing something?

    I have created a video with pictures and music.  When i export it, it goes into a MP4 video.  which I have done before and it worked ok.  Now the only thing on the MP4 video is music but not my pictures.

    According to that, you don't seem to have added in an UpperFilters entry for GEARAspiWDM.
    Did you not do that (as per the instructions in the document on what to do if the UpperFilters entry is missing)?
    Or did you revert the key after attempting a filter edit and still getting the error message?

    Try deleing the download and try again. It is located:
    IPSW file location for Mac and Windows
    If yo restore, the iPod will also be update. You can try that. Just make sure that you backup first so yo can restore from backup

  • I have to restore my ipod, becuase i updated it. I have done this before and i didnt have to restore it i did some steps and it worked, i just can't remember the steps. It's in recovery mode right now and saying the other way is to restore it.

    Do a search for the Settings App first. If you are running iOS 7, swipe down from the middle of the home screen to get to the search field at the top of the screen.  If you are running iOS 6, swipe to the right from the first home screen to get to the search area. Type Settings into the search field. When the app appears in the search, tap on it to open the Settings app.
    From that point, do one of these two things to get the apps to reappear. Most likely, the second suggestion is the one that you should try since not all apps can be restricted.
    Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable them.
    You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • Reload Software:552 and then "Application loader was unable to connect with your device."

    I'm new to this forum and looking for a help please..
    My curve 8900 got the "Reload Software:552" message on the screen. I was trying to uninstall an application and after it asked me to reboot, it showed me that message. I already try to reinstall the OS like most of you guys said. But when I already in the process of that, it showed me "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry" 
    I was trying this steps..
    1. use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    2. connect the BlackBerry to the computer using a USB cable
    3. click application loader, then start
    4. then i choose the OS and apps i want to install it also
    5. after i click finish and the process start, i stuck on the task 2 of 5 "wait for device initialization" and then the message "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry"  showed.
    I try and try again but there is no use. it keeps show that message.
    help me please, this really frustrates me

    1. Make certain your USB cable is connected to a main REAR USB port on the rear of the PC, not a front USB port, not a USB hub.
    2. Try loading the OS with these instructions (make sure that Desktop Manager is not running):

  • Windows 7 unable to connect to BT Home Hub 5 (Dong...

    Just had BT Infinity and Home Hub 5 installed this weekend.
    Whenever I try to connect using the wireless dongle it lets me input the password and then gives back the message 'Windows was unablle to connect to BTHUB5-W2HM'
    Other wireless devices such as my phone and laptop will connect using their inbuilt wirelss and work quite happily but this message appears on my desktop pc and my laptop when I use the dongle, I did a clean install of Windows 7 and reinstalled the drivers that I downloaded off the BT Site but it didn't help.
    So far I have tried taking off security from the hub, ipconfig /flushdns, some other random cmd.exe prompts people on other forums thought may help, reset the hub to factory settings.
    When running ipconfig, it just gives back the response below.
    Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2:
    Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    The BT Dongle has power as it has a solid blue light on it. I tried it on a friends BT Hub 5 on his PC and it worked fine.
    Not sure what to do now. BT sent a replacement out but it does the same thing.

    Sorry about the problems with your Hub 5 and Dongle 900.  Has the Hub or the Dongle been replaced? If it was the dongle can you try a factory reset of the Hub 5 to see if this helps? Post back here if you need any further help.
