EA4500 for Streaming Home Theater

Hi, my name is Ivan!
I have a home theater with the following equipaments in my apartament:
Room (all equipaments are wireless capable and I think they are all N compatilble):
Panasonic VT60b 65" Plasma TV
Receiver Onkyo TX-NR5010 + UMF-1 Wireless Adapter
Apple TV
WD TV Live
Home Office:
Desktop Computer
I have a E2500 USB Wireless Adapter and a EA4500 Wireless Router.
I want to connect all this devices using EA4500 and/or E2500 to streaming video and audio content in all equipaments.
I want to stream MKV, MP4 1080p videos and FLAC, ALAC HI RES (24bits/192kHz) audio files.
I'm talking about files up to 250Mb (audios) and 8-46Gb (videos).
The speed of internet plan is the determinant so that I can watch these contents through my network factor?
I need a plan with internet speeds to make use of the wireless network "inside" of my house?
Or just that I'm connected at any speed that equipment (routers and adapters) will be independent of the contracted speed work?
How do I set up a network with this equipment to enjoy it as much as possible.
Please help me
Thank you
Ivan

I recommend doing any local LAN side streaming using CAT6 wired LAN cable connections as much as possible. Your source files and the complexity of them will probably not work well over the wireless connections. I've done testing with RAW BD and DVD files and at most you need AC Wireless to stream HQ files, especially RAW files. DVD and Some HW files work ok on 5Ghz N mode however you may see some buffering if the data within the files is too high. Streaming from out side your network, i.e. netflix, youtube and such 2.4Ghz N or 5Ghz N should work well.
I would highly recommend getting a external Gb network LAN switch in between the main host router and all other devices. This will help limit any un-necessary router processing and allow better performance between inter connecting devices on the LAN site while doing any streaming from LAN side sources.
ISP modem>EA4500>Gb LAN wired swtich<>Connect all LAN supporting devices to the swtich as much as possible for best performance.
The USB WiFi adapter may work in some cases however you'll be limted to the speed of the USB and possibly introduct a bottle neck here which it's connection speed rates which are slower than the LAN wired GB connetions.

  • Calibrating the speakers for a Home Theater sys

I started a similar thread in the PCMCIA forum but there seems to be a lot more traffic here... The question is: how do you deal with speaker calibration when your card is connected to a Home Theater system?
If you calibrate the speakers with the card, don't you send a "modified" source into your HT? And then, if you calibrate the speakers again in the HT system, don't you end up compounding the effect?
In other words, the question could be: How do you make the card appear "neutral" to the HT system, like a DVD player would?
    Thanks!

<SPAN>Aha; just before I go, I have just found the following in one of the Creative sticky messages at the top of the forum (<FONT color=#333333>Digital Connections, SPDIF and Dolby Digital Info ) which explains the digital connection stuff much better than I did; confirms that for dvd movies, using the digital out bypasses the card's internal meddling. Still ask Letropaks or Keene re the correct cable however. This solves your movie problem, outputting the same signal as a DVD player would to your amp, with minimal loss of signal quality. So get ready to throw away those nasty analogue cables...

    <SPAN>Movies wth Dolby Digital (AC3) & DTS<SPAN>
<SPAN>Movies on DVD often use encoded audio in the form of Dolby Digital (AC3) or DTS. This means that all 6 channels are compressed into a single stream of digital data. A decoder is required to extract the channels and send the sound to the correct speakers. There are three ways to do this.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>)<EM><SPAN> Pass the AC3/DTS signal to a external decoder</EM>.
    <SPAN>
<SPAN>This is where your optical/coax connection is used. To go down this route, you must first have a set of speakers or a decoder that supports Dolby Digital. In your DVD software, select 'SPDIF' as the audio output method and 'SPDIF Pass-through' in your soundcard options. What this does is tells both the software and soundcard to leave the audio from the DVD in compressed form and send it straight through the digital outputs. Your digital speakers/receiver will do all the decoding to give you full surround sound. Please note that this is the only way to get 6 channels through an optical/coax cable.

  • How do I change the audio output to digital optical for my home theater?

It's only using the hdmi for audio on the television..

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless the Apple TV is broken it always passes audio over the optical output.
Check your sound system is set up correctly, or try changing the Audio out and Dolby Digital settings on the Apple TV (settings > audio & video)

  • Please help with TV and home theater system for very large basement room....

I'm looking to get my boyfriend either a TV or home theater system for the basement.  I know he eventually wants a 3d TV.  Right now he has a set up where he has 2 tv's so he can play video games and watch sports.
The basement that the tv and home theater system will be in is large (I'd estimate at least 15 ft x 30 ft...maybe more) so I want to make sure the home theater system will be enough for the room.  We live in a ranch so basically the basement is almost the size of the house with some of it being storage.
I've started to look at products online but there are so many and technology isn't really my thing.
If anyone could help with recommendations for the home theater system and/or the tv I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks so so sooo much!!!!

What will he be using the HT system for?  Just watching sports or skipping the movie theater and watching them at home.   If you plan to watch them at home your going to be on a tight budget with the home theater system but it is possible.   Spend good money on the sub, that is one speaker you don't want to skimp out on.  With such a big space you have a lot of room to fill and the cheap subs aren't going to cut it.   You will probably need two subs as it is.  The speakers I recommend on a tight budget Polk or Klipsch.  My list includes a Denon receiver as I am a Denon fan but Yamaha, Onkyo, or Pioneer will suffice.
Here is a Option 1 will run you about 1700 with just one sub. You could always go up a model on each speaker if you feel the one sub is enough.  I like an explosion sounding like it happened in front of me so that is why I mention 2 subs.

  • Desktop/Finder keeps rebooting after upgraded to Maverick (mac mini hooked up to a home theater system)

My desktop keeps rebooting ever since I upgraded to Mavericks.
Current setup, Mac Mini hooked up to home theater (Panasonic SC-HTB20) that is then hooked up to my Panasonic Plasma TV.
I usually leave my Mac Mini on running and at least once a day when I turn on the TV I can see that my desktop was rebooted. Firefox and Chrome will say that it wasn't shut down properly and if I want to restore my previous session. Also some times when I switched the input to watch TV and switch back, all my windows will be scattered out of place. For example Chrome will be in the top left hand corner to the point that it's almost minimized and I wouldn't be able to move it as well. Only thing I can do is close out these applications and relaunch them. It doesn't appear that the OS actually crashed, but more like the desktop/finder itself crashed. Cause once in a while I will switch back or turn on the TV and the screen will stay black for a few minutes then I'll see the cursor in the top right hand corner. After that I will start to see the desktop and my application start loading. It doesn't go through the regular process of rebooting where you see the Apple logo so I don't think the OS actually crashed but I could be wrong.
For some reason it seems like Maverick doesn't like the home theater system. An almost guarantee way to reproduce the issue is to wait for the home theater to turn off after it's been inactive for a while. If I turn it on the home theater to have the audio coming from it I will see the desktop goes black immediately then the whole desktop reboot process I mentioned above will kick in.
Never had any of these issues on 10.7 before I upgraded to Maverick.
Anybody have any suggestion? I really don't want to format and downgrade back to 10.7.
    Thanks

    Sounds like a kernel panic.
If you post the report we could have a go at deciphering it.

  • Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update.
But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".
Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.
Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).
Is this an update or what?
What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

    Hi all
Could you try out DAA or DHTLightweight from my link and just install the Dolby software without overriding your Realtek Driver? I am not sure whether would it work, but worth a try. I have tried on Y460, W520 and G560 with great experience.
If the older Dolby software does not work with your existing Realtek driver, you could install the DAA or DHTLightweight with their driver to overwrite and see how it goes.
    Thank You

  • Apple TV vs. PS3 for photos & home movies

I'm sure some of you have both of these units and have a comparison as to which unit displays photos & home movies better (sharpness, color, etc.) I recently bought the Apple TV and I'm not that impressed with the photo quality and 960x540 home movie recoding quality. The PS3 outputs at 1080p, and should be superior to the Apple TV in quality. I know you can use the Medialink software on the PS3 to interface with my Mac's iphoto & itunes.
Looking for some real world comparisons from owner's of both systems.
    Thanks guys

I own both, use a Mac for my computer, and have owned my PS3 longer than the Apple TV.
Honestly, the PS3 sees more use than my ATV. However, for simple viewing of iTunes media on my HDTV, the ATV works well whereas I know I'd have issues with the PS3.
I use a transcoding media app on OSX that allows me to browse through my videos on my PS3 as if my iMac were a media server. The system works quite well, honestly. I'd say that it is EASIER in a way to view non-Apple-formated videos this way, but if it is a standard that iTunes or ATV can play in HD, then the ATV works better and outputs it at the HD res without transcoding loss like I'd see through the PS3-media server linkage.
For example: I have all of Farscape and Babylon 5 bought through the ITMS and thus watch it on my HDTV via the ATV. Also, my other videos that iTunes plays play though the ATV perfectly well without some of the network hitching I get when trying to view them transcoded via the PS3 media server (I'm convinced this is a case of my iMac needing more RAM to let my 2 cores do their work..... if only I had the new 27" iMac.... drool . . . . 4 cores available do to the encoding.....) for the HD versions (for example, the HD version of the popular "where the **** is matt" youtube video).
As an iTunes interface to an HDTV, the ATV does its job and does it well (with some caveats). Outside of that, the PS3 excels. Also, HD movies through the ITMS are nothing compared to their blueray counterparts. Then again, the PSN video store pales in comparison to the ITMS. Star Trek is available in HD through the PSN video store, but the audio is only in 2ch stereo. Sad. I have the movie on blu-ray (which has the audio in 5.1 Dolby TrueHD), so I'm not sure what the HD version is on the ITMS.
I see the 2 systems (ATV and PS3) as complementing each other. My PS3 is my blu-ray player, non-iTunes video player, and game system. My ATV is my iTunes interface for my Home Theater system. However, as I live in an apartment, I more generally just use my apple remote and control the audio on my iMac directly. Still, the ATV is quite useful for nights when I just want to rent a video (the PSN video store is lacking, and the new netflix service for the PS3 requires a Netflix authorization disc to use in the PS3.... most likely due to contractual agreement..... (thankyou M$ for binding Sony's hands like that, you know you're the ones who did that with your money paid to Netflix). The ITMS through the ATV is therefore easier for me to use and more expansive on video selection (though I still have yet to see Gods and Generals appear on the ITMS video store.... grrr), so for HD rental, the ATV is the choice I make.
As far as photos.... since my Photos are in the standard place on my mac, the ATV is more readily there to display them all than is my PS3, which would require me to have up and running the media server app on my Mac (which I don't always have running).
So, like I said, the 2 systems complement each other. Still, for the specific use you're talking about, I think the ATV does just fine. However, if you're looking for a comprehensive system, I might suggest the PS3 first, as you get the PSN, blu-ray player, and game system all in one. If you can, though, BOTH is even better (and affordable since the PS3 Slim now came out.... though I have been hearing gripes about some problems with people's PS3 Slims.... but that's in Sony's Disc. forums, and it is like the ones here: kind of an emergency room).

  • Connection of Home Theater Recei

For my Home Theater I would like to use my PC a DVD player, music player, and for gaming on my Infocus Projector. I am trying to figure out what Sound Card will be sufficient and how it will actually connect to my Recei'ver (Yamaha HTR-5830SL 550W 5.-Ch. Digital Home Theater Recei'ver) (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=703449&type=product&productCateg oryId=cat0303&id=099395588707)
    Here are my specifications:
Want to connect my sound card to the above receiver but still have desktop speakers and a mic out so when I am playing BF2 I can talk to other players. HOw would I hook this up? SPDIF, Y connectors, ? I s this even possible?

I game more than watch movies or listen to music on my pc & yes ..it was interesting to read in the sticky... thanks for the reminder. I don't have 5. or higher spkr setup, i use a?centre + frnt right + frnt left on hi-fi system and creative 2. THX speaker system?& then i just tweak the sound from both sources, on my amp it has cinema studio EX & i find using that i get a good mixture of mid & high sounds, plus the mission 703's give good punchy?bass,?the thunder/bass comes from the creative 2. sub as well as some high?crisp sounds from the 2. THX front right & left ...so what's that? ..pseudo surround ..lol. What i find odd is why do pc?game publishers put Dolby Digital on the pc games?box when realy then it should be EAX support ..as notied in the sticky below. But tbh the very best sound for me personaly has to be headphones ..but you need a good set of cans though. PC GamesPC games usually use technologies?like as EAX to create surround sound, not Dolby Digital. So even if your speaker system has a Dolby Digital decoder, it will be of no use when playing?games.
The EAX processing is done on the soundcard, and?the 6-channel sound is?output via the analogue (or digital DIN if available). So you still need analogue connections to your digital speakers for games, if you just use an optical/coax cable you will only get the front left/right sound. (N.B. X-Box games do support Dolby Digital, so if you connect your X-Box to your Dolby Digital receiver/speakers with the optical cable, you can get full surround sound.)?

  • Home Theater Upgrade?

I have an old home with a newer addition. The addition has in-ceiling speakers, but that is found no where else. I'd like to upgrade my whole audio system so that I can easily integrate with my computer and my iPod where I get great music off of Pandora or other such sites, and be able to listen to music in different parts of the house. Are there wireless speakers that could work in the older part of the house? What else would I need?
I don't really know where to start or what type of budget I might need to begin. Suggestions?

    Hey JLeigh,
Excellent question!  First of all, in order for your home theater system and computer to be connected you’ll need both devices to have one of the two following connection types: digital coaxial or digital optical audio.  These connections can generally be found on the back of either piece of equipment, and are often labeled for easy identification.  Generally, it’s recommended that you use two connections of the same type, but adaptors do exist that allow you to use one of each type if necessary.  Both digital coaxial and digital optical audio cables should be widely available through local retailers, but be warned there may be a significant difference in price between cable types of the same length.
Once you’ve gotten your home theater system and computer connected, your computer should essentially be able to use the home theater as a set of expansion speakers, while the receiver itself may require some fine-tuning in order to maximize sound quality.  Your iPod can then link to either device through the assistance of an iPod docking station or USB docking cable.
The next step is to decide where you want additional speakers placed in your home.  If all you’re looking to do is bring music into one room of the house, you should only need one set of wireless speakers.  On the other hand, if you want to have music filling every room you walk into you’ll need multiple sets and an audio switch.  Your computer sends the audio signal to your receiver, the receiver sends the signal to the switch, the switch then sends it to each set of wireless speakers, and…voila!  You have the same music playing in multiple rooms.
There is however one limitation that I would strongly suggest keeping in mind: wireless speakers are not often sold in pairs, and may need to be purchased individually.  Unfortunately, this means that the costs to implement a whole-house solution can easily become a daunting task, especially if you’re working with a fixed budget.
For more information, I would strongly suggest speaking with a home audio specialist at your local Best Buy ® store.  They should be able to provide you with a number of options, as well as provide additional suggestions to better suit your needs.

    Hi Altoid666
Just click on the 1st link - Dolby and download the pdf guide.
Dolby Home Theater v4 provided is a sound driver itself. Dolby Home Theater v2 is just an add-on for manufacturer driver. It is not an upgrade, but a different set of solution.

  • U310 - Dolby Home Theater: how do I activate it?

    Hi y'all at Lenovo community.
    Lenovo U310 - i5 - 8GB - 32 GB SSD - 500GB HD - upgraded van W7 home premium naar W8 pro naar W8.1 pro
Due to Windows 8.1 growing pains I disabled and uninstalled Dolby Home theater and I was waiting for a new update of the Conexant driver.
The other day Lenovo presented te new driver so I downloaded and installed it.
And I noticed Dolby Digital Plus Home theater (DDPHT) was active in the program overview.
However, I'm asking myself what DDPHT does to the sound.
All I see is the submap DolbyGUI in Program Files/Conexant containing a setup64.exe but no program that does any job, nor do I see any Dolby-related items in Windows Start.
And I see no Dolby items in taskmanager.
    So how's that?
    Sincerely,
    Jim

    hi papadiva
Open Control Panel and set the View by: Option on the top right of the screen to small icons And it should have an Icon for Dolby Home Theater
Refer to this thread on how it should look like,
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Dolby-Home-Theater-v4-lower-sound-quality/...
The Windows 8.1 upgrade issue about Dolby has been resolved,
-You will have to uninstall the Audio Driver from device Manager and Uninstall Dolby under Control Panel
          - Install the *.1 Audio driver from Lenovo support site
          - Open Drive C:driver/Conexant/ DolbyGUI folder and it should have a Dolby HT Installer to install back Dolby Home              theater app
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

  • Home Theater need. Multiple Audio Streams from 1 card or possible to use 2 car

I currently have 2 SB Li've's installed and a SB Audigy in the box.
I would like to be able to send different audio out to different devices. I need to send audio from a game interface called MAME 32 to a speaker system connected to the PC. I also use this PC as a home theater PC and want to send audio from my DVD playing software out to my TV(in analog stereo mode) and/or to my receiver(in Dolby Digital mode using the digital connector).
I would like to be able to run these seperatly without having to go into the Control Panel and switch the default sound card like I am doing now. I do not need to run them at the same time.

Bummer. Are you guys working on something that might have this capability? Seems to me that the closer we integrate PC's into our entertainment systems the more need we will have for the ability to do multiple audio streams, i.e. MP3's to the living room. DVD movie audio to the family room, XM radio classical station to the kitchen for mom etc..
Intel is offering this as an onboard solution that has the ability to do at least 2 different streams.

  • How to set up connection for directv receiver, TV, and home theater system?

Can some one please show me the CORRECT way to connect my Directv receiver (it has no HDMI), Panasonic Viera HDTV (has 3 HDMIs) and my Samsung home theater HT-Z510 (has 1 HDMI)? The second question is with the set up that you advise, can I play the TV sound through my home theater speakers? and How do I do that each time I want to listen the TV sound through my home theater speakers? I am new and confused about all this so please provide or explain step by step please. Thanks in advance.

Making sense of your connections on a message board is never easy. Hopefully you can piece this information together.
Direct TV box to Panasonic TV using S-video cable....assuming it's standard definition. Component video if the box is HD. Run standard stereo RCA cables to the appropriate input for sound threw the TV speakers.
Your Panasonic TV will have a set of stereo(left/white,right/red) outputs. Run cable from that output into the same inputs on the Samsung surround unit. Use the sound units effects to acheive simulated surround. This is assuming you have no digital outputs on your box. If you do, you'll be able to get 5.1 when available using a digital connection.
    Good luck.

  • Hooking up MBP to home theater receiver: Surround sound for games?

I'm looking for a way to hook up my MBP to my home theater receiver to play games in surround sound. From what I've read, it sounds like the digital optical out will only provide 5.1 sound for DVDs, not games.
I have also read about the Griffin Firewave which supposedly provides 5.1 sound from the firewire port...however, it looks like there are five separate outputs from that device (center, and both front and rear speakers), and my receiver's inputs are not arranged in this way, so I don't think this will work for my setup.
Anyone know of a way to do this successfully? It's looking like it's not possible, but wanted to see if there were any solutions I was missing. Thanks!

  • Home Theater receiver users should read this for enabling dolby digi

I have an onkyo 5. dts / dolby digital receiver, and an audigy 2 zs platinum. i am using an optical cable from the front panel on the audigy to the optical in on my receiver. My receiver manual says it is a 96 khz receiver. I am using a 2 pin cable from my dvd player to the audigy. When using a dvd, I can not get dolby digital sound to my receiver. I have set the audigy to spdif pass through, i have tried 48khz, 96khz, every combination of everything. Setting to 2. speakers, 5. speakers, but yet i am stuck with either stereo sound if set to 96khz, or dolby prologic II if set to 48khz.
Another thing i tried was using a dvd image i created on my hard dri've from a dvd, and playing it through alcohol 20%, to see if it was my dvd player giving the problems. I still get the exact same results when playing a dolby digital source through the hard dri've.
So, in the end, is it actually possible to have dolby digital from the audigy 2 zs platinum through a home theater receiver, or not?
thanksMessage Edited by jonnybruno on 0-20-2005 2:7 AM

I am feeling the same way about this card. It would be nice if somebody from creative could respond with a definite correct way to get dolby digital to my home theater receiver. Im sick of being plagued with problems.. no dolby digital, random stopping of sound which requires me to reinstall drivers, popping noises every so often, etc etc etc..
seriuosly... an m-audio revolution is starting to sound pretty appealing.
edit: I would also like to note that my box does say front panel optical out for 5. support, unlike the previous poster had said it says stereo only. I am able to get dolby digital if i switch to my onboard nforce soundstorm or whatever it is.
PS. I am not going to let this thread drop down until I have a definiti've answer on whether it is possible to have dolby digital through my audigy 2 zs platinum and home theater receiver. I paid $200 for this card, and I really would appreciate a straight forward definite answer.Message Edited by jonnybruno on 0-9-2005 09:4 AM
