EA4500 - Wifi Fine on Everything but my laptop
Hi - I just bought a Linksys EA4500 wireless router and I'm having some poblems.
I've set it up fine and it works, but via wifi on my laptop I'm getting close to zero download speed. I've been to Speedtest.net and I get good ping and upload, but download is literally nothing - 0.01 to 0.1Mbps. the laptop works fine hard wired to the router. Everything else wifi also works fine including my iPhone5, TV, AppleTV, PS3, HP Printer....... just my laptop doesn't work.
The wifi card in my laptop is Broadcom Dual Band N. Never had issues on any other router before. I've tried changing wifi settings on the router and laptop and there is no change. The router came with old firmware, so I updated it (to the online system), but still no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The issue is quite isolated as it is only happening on one device. Have you updated the laptop's Broadcom Dual Band N driver? This could be driver related. Get the latest driver for your built-in wireless adapter. Also, check the adapter properties. Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) should be unchecked. With this enabled, the speed will be relatively slower as IPv4 data will have to be translated to IPv6.

Dont uncheck ipv6 if you do then you will have no ipv6 access. Ipv6 will be needed here in the very near future alot of websites i go to already are using it. It wont make any difference anyway leaving it checked that is not your problem.

I have an iPhone 3GS and I restarted it. I have crossed my language, wifi, country and everything, but suddenly when I am done with that and it says "activating iPhone", a message comes time after time "Activation error." What can I do?
Most activation errors happen because a phone has been previously hacked or jailbroken. If this is the case, we cannot help you on this forum. You'll have to look elsewhere for assistance.

1. use oper. system safe mode: it works, I can send email
2. no oper. sys. safe mode, t'bird safe mode: cannot send mail
3. no oper. sys safe mode, no t'bird safe mode, all addons disabled: cannot send mail.
It only works when i use oper. sys. safe mode.
Addons for t'bird were enabled in this test.
(Not using T'bird safe mode either in this test.)
Use BitDefender antivirus, which does not have a setting to turn on/off email scanning. Should I contact BD support? (it seems to point to BD as causing the problem. Interesting that I don't have this problem on 2 other desktops, only the laptop. And in the past, T'bird worked on the laptop. I have tried uninstall and reinstall, but mozilla is SAVING all my account and other info, so I cannot do a clean install. it seems to me that if I could do a clean install, it might work. Any idea how to remove all the data and uninstall?

IPod Touch 5th Gen Wifi Fine... but never at home :(
I own a 2 year old iPod 5th Gen wifi only. Since the 8.1.3 IOS update it will fail to connect with all but the newest and most up-to-date wifi routers. While traveling for my winter in Mexico I was unable to wifi connect at over 20 hotels and hotspots. Now that I am at home I see that it IS able to connect at the Apple Store's wifi, and also at Starbucks and some of my friends routers that apparently are newer than 5 years old. At my home I have a NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router, purchased February 2010. I went to the Apple Genius people today and followed their sound advice and upgraded the firmware in my NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router. I have tweaked and fiddled with almost everything I can imagine... but still never connects. The error this iPod gets here is the same it has given me since January when I said "yes" to the IOS update... "Incorrect Password, Cannot Connect". The ipod "see" every wifi router... just never gets past the password.
PLEASE!! Do I really have to go out and spend money on a new router just because ONE simple device, out of the 8 in our home (none Apple) will not connect?
I did:
Update Firmware on NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router.
Reset All Network Settings on iPod
Reset All Data in iPod
Rebooted: Cable Modem, Wifi Router, iPod Touch
Tested with WEP as well as NONE under Netgear Security Options ... no help, so returned to WPA2-PSK [AES]
Maybe it's MAC ADDRESS related?Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

When I go to preview my page in Firefox the table cells that
are supposed to contain content appear white, rather than the
bgcolor a6d989 that I have them set to. Everything renders the way
it ought to in the other browsers. I built my site using fireworks
and sliced it accordingly to create a tiling page. When imported
into dreamweaver I select the tables containing the cells I wish to
use for content, and I converted the widths to pixels, deleted the
image in the cell and changed the bgcolor accordingly. The tiling

My macbook pro wont connect to the internet using a cable, but connects using wifi fine. I use wifi at home but sometimes need to use my laptop at work and connect using a cable but it says i'm not connected to the internet?

My dad gave me an iPhone 3G to use as an ipod touch but it's not picking up wifi. ive tried everything to like reseting the network settings turning wi fi off and on mutable times, turned the phone off on and on. What do i do?

You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Wifi working fine for iPad but none of my MacBooks can connect to wifi why?
My iPad connects to my wifi network just fine, but none of the three laptops in the house connect. One is a one-year-old MacBook Air, another is a Pro around seven years old, and one's even older than that running an older OS (Lion) so the age of the laptop doesn't seem to be a factor. The phones also connect the the wifi network, it's just the laptops. What happens is the wifi tries to find a network, then doesn't connect to any, although our network shows up in the drop-down menu of networks. But if you click on it an error message comes up that says a connection timeout occurred and offers to run diagnostics (It doesn't offer diagnostics on the oldest laptop). Turning wifi on and off, going into network preferences, restarting the computers and the router, none of it does anything. The same issue happened yesterday, identical in every way, but it worked after turning the wifi on and off. This time it's been severeal hours and it shows no signs of fixing itself.
Thanks for the reply - we actually managed to solve it by removing some extra devices from using Wifi, so it seems like It was an update to the firmware (as you thought) which limited the number of devices on wifi at once. Thank you though!

I recently got my moms friends old iphone5 that he had for like a month. Everything is fine with it but it wont let me update any of my apps because it asks for his apple ID password. Is there anything i can do to change/fix that?

You should remove his AppleID and restore it as new. -
my iphone will no longer connect to my home wifi. it recognises it, but the searching cirlce is constant next to network name. there are three laptops and another iphone on the same wifi that have no connectivity issues. i have reset the network settings but that did not help. the issue started last week when the second iphone was introduced to the house, could this be the cause?

when syncing, I get an error message stating: "The iPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." Any clue what that is due to. Everything but photos seem to sync fine.
I had the same problem when trying to sync my new ilPhone 4s and a fairly new iPad 2. I couldn't find anything in the forum about it. So, since my 4s was new, I called support and luckily I got a CSR with some knowledge. He at first thought it would be tough to fix but after thinking a minute he found the fix. The fix is:
Click on finder, Go, Home, Pictures, then click on iPod photo cache and drag it to trash. Now try syncing again. It worked on both of mine. No problems since. -
My ipad2 was working fine last night, but this morning when I woke it up... it no longer was connected to my network. While it can detect networks, it cannot connect to any (have tried at home and at work). I have tried: resetting router, resetting ipad, forgetting network, renewing lease on network, ensuring airplane mode is off, resetting network settings, turning wifi on/off. None of the typical solutions I can find online seem to work. HELP!

3rd gen iPod Nano will not sync with latest version of iTunes on new laptop. It passes the connectivity test but not the sync test under diagnostics. Worked fine on old Windows 7 laptop but not new one. From Control Panel it shows up as an Apple iPod USB Device...
Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.
