EA6300 Parental Controls device multiple time

I have parental controls on my EA6300 with the latest firmware.  A device is listed multiple times under parental controls with different settings for each listing.  I have rebooted with no luck.
Is there anyway to remove the multiple listed devices?
Thanks.
Ed...

If the device is listed as "Network Device" than the router might not be able to get the devices hostname. In which case compare the MAC address of the device to confirm which device it is and use DHCP reservation to reserve an IP Address and name for the device.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

I was trying to adjust one of the parental controlled accounts for my child.  I disabled parental controls, rebooted, and re-enabled it.  Now all the settings that I had setup before are gone.  How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

    Hi ...
I've found a solution to my problem.
Time Machine locates extenal HDD backups differently depending if they were done via a network or via a USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt connection.
My initial backup was done via a direct Thunderbolt connection. I ran into the above issue b/c the second time when I tried looking for the backup file the HDD was conencted to my iMac and I was accessing it via a network conenction.
I simply connected the drive directly to my MacBook pro and ... voila. I was able to see the backup, select the iPhoto library and begin the restore.
    Hope this helps.
BTW - I found this out by reading the 'blue box' selection on this page: http://pondini.org/TM/E2.html

  • Parental Controls -- Managed Account Time Limits

My son's MacBook Air is running Mavericks OS X 10.9.3; MacBookAir6,1; Intel Core i5
I set a 2 hour time limit per day and upon the 2 hours expiring, the system logs him off.  Then he shuts it and closes it for the night.
However, upon opening it the next day, the login screen prompts him for a time extension.  It's a whole new day and the 2 hours should start over, but they don't.
Worse, when I go to extend his time to let him log on, it sometimes gets caught in a loop of some sort where it will allow him back on per my administrator password to allow it.  It will allow him on for a split second, then immediately restrict him again saying he reached the maximum time limit and the administrator box shows up again.   The only way I've been able to fix this is by deleting his managed user profile, then adding it in again, once again defining all the parental control parameters, allowed websites, etc.  It's a pain.  I do try to have him log off at the end of his sessions thinking that it will help keeping things orderly, but if the computer cuts him off, I'm guessing that he was automatically logged out and I am not sure that's the case.  It cuts off his time (as it's supposed to) nonetheless.  Overall, it's as if the computer's date/time function doesn't factor in to the parental control settings.   How could Apple overlook such an obvious detail when planning for time limits?   Please, Apple, get these two parts of the OS working together.  So...
Honey-Do List for Mavericks OS X Gurus
Get the Date-Time settings to jive with Parental Controls; kill the loop that occurs when time extension requirement shows up first thing the next day
Create a countdown timer of a sort for managed accounts that keeps the user aware of how much of their logon time is used/still left
    Pretty please
    Thanks!

I have found the most common way is simply this: he knows your administrator password. To see if this is the case just change your password (don't leave a sticky note laying around with the written down password on it please) and see if he's still able to get his way.
Also, restrict access to applications like Terminal. Some Google searches could have shown him how to get stuff done through the command line.

  • Scanimage -L lists same device multiple times

well i finally got my epson perfection v500 photo scanner working. i admit to having more problems then i should have heh.
    arch 86_64
    i installed iscan from aur
*important* i downloaded iscan-plugin-gt-x770-2.1.1-2.c2.x86_64.rpm from epson site http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/scan/DL2.do and used rpm2targz to unpack. then placed the libesint7C* (should be 3 files) files in  /usr/lib/iscan/ and the esfw7C.bin file in /usr/share/iscan
i then followed directions in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=77802
    and it worked
it wasn't workng before as i was installing the driver from aur (iscan-plugin-gt-x770) howerver i think that does not work for x86_64.
my question is that the same device is listed 5 times now. i reinstalled things multiple times and i know its because of that. i assume it was from multiple #iscan-registry commands
    example:
    $ scanimage -L
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname UNKNOWN/GENERIC virtual device
xsane and iscan both ask to pick from the 5 epkowa devices listed, all will work. is there a way to remove all but one of them? i assume its under /dev or /proc but cant seem to find them.
    thank you for any help.

    I've been burned by this
    do a
    iscan-registry -h
then do a remove about 4 times, till you only have one instance.
    It's kinda like this-  iscan-registry --remove interpreter usb <vendor-id> <product-id> <plugin> [<firmware>]
vender and product IDs from a lsusb
    I think plugin is in /usr/share/esci /
I think fimware is in /usr/lib/esci/
or it could be the other way around. You could look at the script in the RPM for the iscan-registry --add command and reference that.

  • Retrieving Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup

After having 20+ websites saved for "Allow access to only these websites" in Parental Controls I was experimenting and clicked on "unrestricted access" which caused all the websites we had saved to disappear when I decided to go back to "Allow access to only these websites." Is there anyway using Time Machine to recover the sites we had chosen? Any recommendations on ways to back-up the sites, so if I have another problem I can fix it easier?
    Thanks!

You won't be able to see them in the nice display of the current settings as when selecting +Mail > Preferences+ from the Mail Menubar.
And, neither the data (emails) or preferences are stored in the application.
The preferences and settings are stored in this file:
    *<your home folder>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist*
If you can read XML, find that file in your backups via +Finder > Time Machine,+ then double-click it to open it with QuickLook.

  • How do I change parental controls on multiple machines through ARD

I am trying to manage 36 new iMacs in a high school classroom setting. I need to adjust the parental controls on all 36 machines so that they all have the same restrictions. I am running ARD but cannot figure out how to do that... any ideas?

    EVHS High

You could probably write a UNIX script that would pull from a list of MAC addresses for each computer and send the appropriate IP address, but unless you have a lot of computers you need to change, writing such a script may be more work than just sending the commands individually.
Of course if you change the IP address on a computer you're working with via ARD, you'll sort of be pulling the ladder out from under yourself, so the task will never report as completed. You'll need to quit it manually and re-add the systems. This may also affect running of a script for further systems; I've not tried to change IP addresses en masse so I don't know.
    Regards.

  • Changing parental controls on multiple agents

Anyone know how to change the parental controls using ARD? I want to copy a set of permissions and send it out to all of the macs in my lab.

I believe the file you are looking for, for the most part, is com.apple.applicationaccess.plist. The problem is that, apparently, not all of the restrictions (safari being an example) are found in this file.

  • Is there a way through parental controls to limit time by weekly totals?

OK, so I am trying to limit time on the computer by hours per week instead of a daily total.  is there any way that anyone knows how to do this?
For example, I would like to limit computer use to 3 hours total per week.
That being said, I would like to 3 hours to be able to be used whenever.
It could be monday morning for 3 hours, or friday for 3 hours.
Or monday 1 hour, tuesday 1 hour, and wednesday 1 hour.
however the user wants to spend their 3 hours.
    Anyone have any ideas?

The sponsor is not happy for low res printing either. As an organisation we should be looking at DRM more closely, and we've added to the requirement with this problem. We are also going to look in to the option of attaching metadata and scanning that at our exit points (e-mail, printers, usb's, etc.) so that users have free reign internally but can't send sensitive documents out. Obviously it's all going to be very expensive!
    Cheers for the respones guys.

  • Parental controls with multiple users

I'm setting up a new iMac shared by multiple kids. Is there some way to add "allowed" websites to all of them at once instead of going into each individual profile?

not using built in tools. but it can be done as follows. go to system preferences->accounts and create a group for all users in question.
then install server admin tools http://support.apple.com/kb/DL914 and use Workgroup manager to manage this group and add allowed websites to all members of the group at once.

  • IOS7 Control Center Swipe Multiple Times

Having to swipe 'up' my IOS7 control center multiple times (5-10x common). Sometimes it will not come up at all. Is anyone esle having similiar issues?
I have rebooted the iPad which has helped but overall performance is the swiping i find annoying and often doesn't work.
Anyway to change settings to use the old IOS6 whereby you can double-click the home button and have contol center pop-up

Screen is clean. I will take off the protective cover....maybe it is covering the sensitive area.

  • HT201304 Are there any parental controls or restrictions I can set for YouTube on the iPhone?

Help!  I need to set some restrictions for my 14 year old son on his YouTube access.  He has an iPhone 4S.  Any suggestions?

If you are looking for a new take on Internet Parental Controls that addresses how much time your kids can spend on-line on any device, check out this new HIPOM (https://www.myHIPOM.com) offering.
They have a very interesting free service that lets parents see all of the internet-enabled devices in your house and turn them on or off like a light switch - all from a simple web page.  No software to download or configure and it works for any internet-enabled device.  I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it really works.  I use it to kick my daughter off Facebook after 8:30pm every night with a push of a button!
Rumor has it they are going into "beta test" with a 'Web Safeguards' feature as well that will allow parents to block content while the kids are online.  It’s a nice one-two punch for internet parental controls – an internet timer control deciding when they can go on-line and a web filtering control deciding what they can see while on line.
    FWIW

  • Non admin removing parental control

Re subject above, I have non admin users who claim and have removed the parental control of access time limits by entering key sequence at boot.
    How can that be stopped?

    I don't believe it.
    What key sequence?
They would have to know an "admin" password to make any system changes.
