EA6300

After fighting with another brand, (I had to reboot to keep wireless going, over time wireless would get slower and slower)
I ended up picking up an EA6300;
Pros
I noticed the alot of bug fixes from the EA6500,
no duplicate names on devices;
Manual setup with out going through the Smartwifi Cloud;  A big plus.
WIreless range is the same as the RT-ac66u;
QOS seems to work;
No slow downs on the wireless after a couple of days;
USB3 is nice; tested it, but no need I already have NAS;
So far so good.
Cons;
I have found any..
Chris

that's good news dude! I hope you could do more testing/benchmarking so that the "nerds" here (like me) are happy. =)

  • Problem Connecting HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a909g to Wireless Router LinkSys EA6300

    Hi- Please help. I just got a new computer and am trying to set up my printer wirelessly to connect to my computer. With my old computer, I had it connected via a wired usb connection because I could not get the wireless setup to work. I would like to get the wireless figured out now that I have multiple devices.
    I tried to connect my printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g) to my wireless Router (Linksys EA6300), followed the prompts 'Setup -> Network -> Wireless Setup Wizard' on the front pane of the printer. It was unable to find my wireless router. I tried putting in my router name/SSID and WPA password and it still cannot locate the router. I am assuming this is a router setting issue, but I am not sure what to change to get my printer to be able to find the router for the wireless connection. I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

    Hi,
    To better understand the issue, can the printer see other networks in your area? can your PC see multiple networks or only your router's SSID (in order to deny any issue with the wireless radio of the printer).
    As I can see the EA6300 is a dual band router.
    The first thing to check is that your router being set to broadcast a wireless signal using the 2.4GHz band, the pritner doe not support the 5.0GHz band and will not see a router configured to broadcast in such a band.
    As well I would ensure that you do not have any other device which broadcast the same SSID as your router, as your router more likewly configured to broadcast both 2.4 ang 5.0 GHz bands (As a Dual Band router) I would also ensure that a different SSID being set for each band (e.g. home_24 / home 5)
    YOu may contact the router service provider for further assistant with your router configuration, you may also try following its user guide below:

  • EA6300 - Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-LAN) - Does not Bridge built in Wifi AP

    Regarding:
    http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3733#
    Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-LAN)
    The Bridge mode function on the EA6300 does not bridge the Wifi AP radio to the network.
    The ethernet ports are bridged, and the router can see network devices and wifi devices connected to itand ping devices in both directions , but Wifi clients connecting to the unit running in bridge mode are not "bridged" to the network.
    ~
    Using the built in webpage of the router, all devices can be pinged.
    Ethernet RJ-45 devices plugged into it can ping the unit and pull up the units config webpage, but not ping wifi clients connected to it.
    Wfii devices connected to its access point radio, can pull up the units config webpage, but not ping ethernet RJ-45 devices connected to it.
    If there is a bridge, then the bridge is broken in half and not functional.
    ~
    All devices are set with IPs on the same subnet,  192.168.2.x
    ~
    I have a Netgear router in Bridge mode, and it works fine, connecting the wifi access point and RJ-45 ethernet clients together like it should be, so I know how Bridge mode... should work...
    But it doesn't on this unit, it is not working completely out the factory door.   It will bridge one Router to another via the RJ-45 ethernet ports, but its own AP radio is no longer bridged and connected (like when running in NAT
    Note that doing cascading  using NAT as described under "Cascading the Linksys router to another router (LAN-WAN)" works fine.

    Hi,
    There's no WLAN bridge feature on the new Linksys Smart Wifi routers. You might also like to check and review these articles about Bridge Mode:

  • EA6300 and "devidentd" removed/added messages repeatedly?

    Maybe it's crazy, but I'm grasping at straws to fix a connectivity issue I've been seeing with an EA6300 router and a WUMC710... I've tried just about everything including switching to just N-only on the router, setting a fixed IP address for the WUMC710, setting a fixed channel/bandwidth for the 5GHz network on the router (there's nobody else even approaching the signal strength nearby)...
    So I've started monitoring http://192.168.1.1/sysinfo.cgi and I notice that my WUMC710 device's IP address keep getting these sort of messages logged, even though it's up and working:
    Feb 13 16:24:45 (none) daemon.notice devidentd[4052]: IP neighbor 192.168.1.9 [98:FC:11:AC:87:F7] removed (detected via polling)

    Should that message keep getting logged when the device is there and in use? After a google search I see that there's been a firmware update to the WRT1900 router which has a noted that "Integrated a permanent fix for the devidentd bug" is mentioned there... that firmware came out in July, while the latest for the EA6300 is from May. Are these errors related to the bug, or am I just seeing an artifact that's not really an indicator of a problem?
    Thanks,
    -ech

    So the link between the WUMC710 and EA6300 was now working for well over 2 days (all while constantly pinging the 710 from another host in the network... but at about the 1.5 day mark, the messages (all of them) related to the IP address of the 710 have stopped showing up at all, and in fact there was a set of messages indicating that it didn't respond to arp, and so now it's listed as "offline" in the EA6300 status page.
    However, the wumc710 device was still pingable as was the device connected to the ethernet side of it (that device still shows up in the logs and "online" in the EA6300 status page. Also the sysinfo.cgi data still showed the mac address of the 710 was associated on the 5GHz channel.
    But just now, while I was typing this, the WUMC710 stopped reponding...
    I connected a laptop to it and its status page shows "disconnected".. so at least the device is still working. But that means that the WUMC710 just doesn't bother to attempt to reconnect... because all I had to do was to go to the wireless survey screen, select the same ssid and type the same password in again... and it connected up just fine. Ugh.
    Will try moving the device somewhere with better reception, but the fact that the wumc710 doesn't (at least under some conditions) try to re-establish a connection with the router seems to be a pretty obvious bug and one that could/should be fixed with a firmware update (on the WUMC).

  • EA6300 cannot video stream from computer to Ipad on my local networt

    I was previously using Video Stream (from Connect3) to stream videos from my computer to my Ipad with no problem. I was using a WRT400n and now have upgraded to the EA6300. Now my Ipad can no longer acces the server on the computer. I tried port forwarding but that didn't work. I assume that some setting(s) on the router is blocking it. The computer is connected to the network using usb wireless. It was connected via cable when using the 400n.
    Computer IP 192.168.1.118, ipad IP 192.168.1.40. Does anyone have any idea why the Ipad and computer cannot connect?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Are you able to stream videos to ipad if you connect the pc to router using ethernet only? It may need driver update if it works fine when the pc is directly connected to router using ethernet.
    I can see that your router detected the ipad twice in the device list. In this case, try turning off your ipad. Once it is offline, remove it from the device list. Turn it back on, then go to connectivity and select local network. Click on DHCP reservation and reserve the ip address of the ipad. Check is streaming works after that.
    You may also need to check if the router's firmware version is up to date. In the Connectivity>Basic tab, click on check for updates button. Proceed with the update if it prompts for it.
    Another cause of this issue could be your Video Stream app. Try uninstalling/reinstalling this app or you may also try other video streaming apps like twonky.

  • EA6300 Slowing my speed greatly.

    I have a EA6300 set up in my small duplex and it is crippling my download speeds.
    Ran a program called Network Logger for 24 Hours hard wired into modem, had an average 88.03Mbps Download and 19.1 Mbps.
    Another 24 Hours wired into router 84.11Mbps down and 19Mbps up.  Awesome.
    24 Hours on 2.4Ghz network roughly 30 feet from router 9Mbps down and 4.4Mbps up.
    24 Hours on 5 Ghz network same place in house 11Mbps down and 997 kbps up (I would trim this upload, but its 24 hours with a 30 second refresh rate)
    I have no cap on my usage, and I also pay for 70+ Mbps.  This wireless is killing my speed, what gives?  Linksys says they want to replace the router, but the **bleep** thing is brand new.  I have the router set up exactly as Linksys told me to, prioritization is disabled.
    Iphone 5 gets a good 3.3 Mbps dl and 2 Mpbs ul on average on either one of them.
    Other information (This is from inSSIDer)
    5 Ghz
    RSSI -70  Channel 36 + 40  WPA2 Personal  Max Transfer Rate 450Mbps
    There is no (0) other traffic on the lower 5 Ghz freq
    2.4 Ghz
    RSSI -52  Channel 3  WPA2 Personal  Max Transfer Rate 130Mbps
    There is a bit of traffic on the 2.4Ghz freq, but Channel 3 and 4 are not used (except by me)  Channel 7-11 are extremely clogged and Channel 1 has about 5 networks on it.
    Also to note, on the 2.4 Ghz channel my PS3 gets 2-4Mbps down and 700kbps up in roughly the same place as the laptop.  If anyone has any ideas on how to speed this up that would be quite useful.
    Note:  Up until about a week ago the only thing I knew about wifi was how to use the wizard when you get a new router.  I am catching up, but bear with me.

    for the fun of it Disable IPV6;
    lots of ussus there;

  • DMZ not working for EA6300

    Hello, my linksys router EA6300 seems not to be working for the DMZ function even though I set it to target 192.168.2.199 it is also set in reserved DHCP for that ipadd/mac device, the device in regard is a linksys WRT54G.
    And I think I got banned in Live Chat before I could even ask about this question :/
    Please don't ban my this account, I'm just looking as what could I have done wrong in the EA6300 DMZ settings, I can attach a screenshot of its DMZ configuration and others if you need them but please let me know first, I don't want to get banned again thinking I'm some kinda spam or advertising bot, thank you.
    WRT54G 192.168.3.1
    ===================
    Port is forward to the IPadd of the computer in question that is hosting a file server, I have checked its port while connected to the router and it is open, my fserv client detects the connection as well when the check was ran by a 3rd party website.
    It is set to Automatic Configuration - DHCP and it is on a different network than the EA6300
    TLDR ports open on file server OK
    ===================
    EA6300 192.168.2.1
    ===================
    I did the same as above but WITHOUT DMZ and NOT connected to WRT54G, result ports open on file server OK
    Next I connected my computer(hosting file server) to WRT54G and WRT54G to EA6300 and EA6300 to my internet modem (isp-issued, unable to configure, gateway = isp), from here on, everything is OK, able to access both the WRT54G and EA6300 on my computer(hosting the file server) and is able to connect to the internet and watch youtube videos fine (testing internet connectivity), afterwards I decided to activate DMZ on my EA6300 to destination MACadd of my WRT54G to expose/route connections to WRT54G for my file server since when checking at the same 3rd party website, the mentioned open port it reported is closed, and I am stuck at this point now, not sure how to open the file server's port.

    I followed the instructions for LAN-to-LAN and it worked, the 3rd party website now sees the port of my fserv as opened, however when I am following the instructions of LAN-to-WAN, it is reported as the port is closed, when I tested them individually as in modem+wrt54g OR modem+ea6300, both is reported as open, but when set as access point->ea6300->wrt54g->my computer, internet connectivity OK, can browse and do internet-related tasks, youtube/google etc etc but my fserv port is reported as closed, hence I decided to try and use DMZ on my EA6300 192.168.2.1, within its device listing appears my WRT54G (192.168.2.199).
    EA6300 gateway 192.168.2.1 (to access its config page)
    WRT54G gateway 192.168.3.1 (to access its config page, when seen using the EA6300, its IP add is 192.168.2.199)
    computer with fserv 192.168.3.200 (is able to access both WRT54G and EA6300 config pages without using DMZ, able to access and browse the internet, able to do internet-related tasks, youtube/google/etc but fserv port is reported as close)
    access point->EA6300 (gateway 192.168.2.1) DMZ to WRT54G 192.168.2.199 (gateway 192.168.3.1)->computer with fserv(192.168.3.200)
    But what is wrong? I still don't understand why port for my fserv is closed when using LAN-to-WAN, on a different router it worked (not the EA6300 but a competitor ISP router/modem(its a 2-in-1 both router and modem) was using DMZ to destination WRT54G and it worked but I can't use it anymore since I switched ISPs).
    competitor ISP router/modem(its a 2-in-1) (gateway 192.168.1.254) DMZ to->WRT54G 192.168.1.199 (gateway 192.168.2.1)->my computer with fserv (192.168.2.200) and port is reported OPEN using the same 3rd party website to check, google yougetsignal.

  • EA6300 Speed limit of MAX 40Mbps at 2.4GHz

    Hi to all,
    Yesterday I bought new Linksys EA6300 Router for my home. But I'm a bit disappointed.
    My ISP provides me Internet speed up to 85Mbps, but the devices connected at 2.4GHz band can achieve maximum of 40Mbps (download and upload).
    I've tried everything, switched ON and OFF WMM, No Acknowledgment, etc. Even updated the WiFi adapter drivers on my two laptops, but still no joy.
    No matter what I do, I cannot achieve full speed at 2.4GHz. The 5.0GHz devices at my home have no problems though.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Its not recommended to speed test on wireless as there are many factors and variables that can cause inaccurate speed test results on wireless. Wired is preferred and recommended to test with. Also not all wireless devices can't perform  the same way and maybe designed differently. 2.4Ghz is best with mode N, WMM enabled, WPA2 only and Auto channel Width for best performance.
    Media Prioritization should be disabled to test or if you had it enabled, you need to set up the Advanced/Downlink option under media prioritization for you ISP speed package you pay for, so if you pay for 20Mb down, you need to input 85000 into the downlink box. Save settings and reboot the router.
    You may have interferences from other sources as well.

    Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
    3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
    Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

  • EA6300 setup screen keeps saying 'Please wait'

    Hi,
    I have an EA6300 router but when I want to setup at linksyssmartwifi.com, the page just says 'please wait' and the little blue circle goes around around.
    I reset the router, unplugged/plugged the modem, restarted the computer but it's all the same.
    Does anyone have clue what I am doing wrong?
    Many thanks.

    PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
    Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
    Turn off all devices accept for one wired LAN PC while testing.
    PC Web Browser Configurations
    What browser are you using?
    Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
    Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
    Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
    Try turning off these features in Chrome:
    Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:
    Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
    Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
    Predict network actions to improve page load performance
    Enable phishing and malware protection
    IE 11 and Linksys Active X Install
    A quick workaround is to enable developer mode (F12), go to the button icon on the right (Emulation) and select "Internet Explorer 10" instead of "Edge" on Document Mode.
    Log into the Local-Log-in link. Bottom right hand corner of the screen. Use that log in to set up the router first. Once it's all set up, then you can use the linksyssmartwifi.com and activate and connect to the router from remote locations.

  • Ea6300 causing network issues when connecting to web browser on my Mac

    I have had my ea6300 for two months and its causing major issues when connecting to my web broweser before I throw it out the window can someone give me some help.

    Hi bigtimer30, what do you mean by “it’s causing major issues when connecting to my web browser”? Do you mean that the MAC computer is no longer able to access the internet? If yes, is it with both wired and wireless connections? Is this happening to all of your devices? Or just that specific MAC computer? If all the other devices are still able to connect except the MAC, I suggest that you do a power cycle on the computer (if you haven’t done it yet). And you’re having difficulties with the wireless part, try to hard wire the computer straight to your router, and check if you experience the same thing. If the wired connection is okay, you may try playing with the router’s wireless channel. Better if you could give more details for us to give you more suggestions.

  • EA6300 - Windows TCP/IP Printing Using LPR Protocol to USB ??

    I am in process of replacing an old Zyxel router with (probably) an EA6300 (depending on the answer to this post...)
    Currently I have a Dymo USB label printer connected to the Zyxel's USB port, and my Windows 7 clients are set up to print to that device using the LPR protocol through a Windows TCP/IP print port connected to 192.168.1.1 (the IP address of the Zyxel).
    So my question is whether the EA6300 will work in the same way?

    Hi Andrew! Yes the VUSB software must be installed on your Windows 7 computer for it to be able to see the printer that will be connected to the USB port of the EA6300 and be able to print . Here's more information about the EA6300, http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=7e5454f239a946599bd151dccb031a57_Getting_to_know_t...

  • Slow file transfer from USB 3 hard drive connected to EA6300

    Hi,
    I have a 1T external hard drive USB 3 connected to my EA6300 and I have a transfer rate of 3MB/s on my macbook air (AC wifi).
    If I connect the HD to my imac and create a network share I go up to 25MB/s (from macbook air). So it's not a wifi issue, I suspect more an issue at the USB / resource management level.
    Did someone experience the same issue?
    Thanks for you help

    Hi,
    What is the brand and model of your external hard drive? It might be a compatibility issue.
    I have a 1TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex (portable) and it doesn’t have a problem. I made sure that the firmware of my router is updated and did a reset  after the upgrade and configured it manually.  Also, I removed the hard drive before I did the router update.
    I used another hard drive and both of them have no issues with transfer rates.
    I do believe that your transfer rate concern is directly related to the usb hard drive compatibility of EA6300.
    You might need to check this website so you can see if your hard drive is compatible with your router.

  • EA6300 502 Bad Gateway.

    Hi guys,
    I went over the thread EA4500 Bad Gateway, but it did not work for me.
    My router is EA6300 and I cannot get it to work. I did not have any problems with it until the router asked me reset the router and connect again. Since then I get 2 erros randomly. 502 Bad Gateway and 500 Internal ... something.
    I already disconnected all cables reseted the router by holding the reset button for 20 sec, waited for reboot, connected only 1 cable from my computer and i still can't log in linksysmysmartwifi.com or 192.168.1.1
    Please help, this is my business.

    This is now ridiculous, somehow, magically, after many tries, i was able to set up the router again. Now after 1 hour i wanted to login and change wifi password, same message from the router saying it was not successfully configured and I needed to restart the router. I did, and same bull ****. I can't log in. Same Bad Gateway error.
    WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH THIS ROUTER.

  • 502 Bad Gateway during the initial setup of EA6300

    Sorry guys, guess you are pissed off such issues, but...
    Brand new ISP cable connect with a modem, and wireless router EA6300.
    1. Connecting my laptop to the modem directly using LAN cable - I have Internet connection.
    2. Removing the LAN cable between my laptop and the modem, connecting the router to the modem using LAN cable, then trying to connect my laptop to the wireless network which is coming with the router - connect is OK (I can find the network and the password coming with the device works).
    3. Then the documentation says open a browser or load linksyssmartwifi.com and follow the instructions.
    Unfortunatelly I get the error
    502 - Bad Gateway
    in the browser when trying to do this - I tried that from two different computers (Win 7 and Win 8) - same result.
    Noticed that the link in web browser gets changed to
    http://linksyssmartwifi.com:52000/ui/dynamic/setup/welcome.html?target=www.linksyssmartwifi.com%2F
    So it seems that I get connected to somewhere but the request fails to complete.
    The ISP modem is Cisco EPC3208.
    The ISP is Blizoo (blizoo.bg), country Bulgaria, city Sofia (if matters). I don't have static IP assigned by the ISP.
    Help appreciated.
    Browsing the forum I see that I can try to disconnect the router from the modem then to try LAN connect to the router and using 192.168.1.1, or to try connecting the cable directly to the router.
    Anyway I want to understand what the current issue is and to use the original setup (ISP cable -> ISP Cisco modem -> EA6300 router) if possible as I am planning on connecting more devices to the router e.g. my static phone line/device.
    Thanks,
    Valov
    P.S.

    I'm currently running into a similar issue as well. I just purchased my router today and have only received 502 or 500 error pages when trying to access linksyssmartwifi.com, 192.168.1.1, or myrouter.local.

  • EA6300 - no ipv6 connection (ipv4 - ok)

    Hi all,
    I can't get the wired PC to have ipv6 connectivity throgh EA6300.
    When I connect directly to the fiber modem i have both ipv4 & ipv6 connectivity.
    Is this a known issue and will it be addressed in a firmware?
    Additional data:
    The PC is running Win 8.1 Pro.
    The fiber modem is a HG865.
    When I connect the PC directly to the modem trough PPPOE everything works.
    I have both ipv4 & ipv6 connectivity - tested.
    When I connect the PC trough EA6300 (EA6300 connected to the modem again trough PPPOE) I get only ipv4 connectivity.
    ipv6 - automatic = enabled

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried another computer? If you have the latest firmware version, I would suggest you try doing a reset and reconfiguration then check it again.

  • EA6300 Parental Controls device multiple time

     I have parental controls on my EA6300 with the latest firmware.  A device is listed multiple times under parental controls with different settings for each listing.  I have rebooted with no luck.
     Is there anyway to remove the multiple listed devices?
    Thanks.
    Ed...

    If the device is listed as "Network Device" than the router might not be able to get the devices hostname. In which case compare the MAC address of the device to confirm which device it is and use DHCP reservation to reserve an IP Address and name for the device.
