EA6500 - Canon sx510HS - connects, then disc - camera cannot see network

Ok. Previously I had a Netgear WNDR3300 and the camera hooked up to the G network w/o issue and stayed connected. When I am using the EA6500.
First, I only see the Guest 2.4 network when I search for a network on the camera. I do not see the 2.4 or the 5 ghz network. WPS will not find the camera and vice versa. Even if I try the PIN issued by the camera.
Second, when I manually add the camera to the network and type in the password, it connects for about 15 seconds then disconnects.
Third. When using the 'sync' option, the networks still are not seen by the camera but the camera connects to the network I manually added, just like in question 2, and stays connected for however long it takes to sync/copy any and all new images to a folder on my pc.
So I'm confused as to why the camera connected so easily with the netgear and with this Linksys EA6500 it will not keep the connection. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi mtbmesa,
How far is the camera from your router? Aside from the camera do you have other wireless devices that's connecting fine with the router? What is the brand of the camera?
Try these settings:
SSID: should be different for 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz
Network Mode: MIxed
Security Mode:  WPA2/WPA Mixed Personal
Channel Width:  20 MHz
Channel:  3,6 or 9
Let me know if it works.

  • My CAM cannot see 2540 storage

    Hello
I Installed CAM 6.0 on my windows XP, I powered on my 2540 storage for the first time. and connect it to the same LAN that my laptop is connected to.
when I try to register the array , the CAM cannot find it. I can ping to the storage using the default IP as in the Installation guide.
what can I do to troubleshoot this and solve it?
    Thanks

Assuming your 2540 is factory fresh, i.e., it hasn't been reconfigured IP wise since leaving the factory...
    Reference Sun doc 820-0015-12.pdf...
The factory default IP address for controller A is: 192.168.128.101
The factory default IP address for controller B is: 192.168.128.102
Set your primary Ethernet port on your WinXP box temporarily to, for example, 192.168.128.1
Using either a cross-over cable, or you can do what I did, I used an old 10/100 Cisco switch in between the machine hosting the CAM software and the controllers. Once you have this properly setup, re-run the CAM registration process. You'll see your controller, auto-magically in CAM.
IF YOUR 2540 IS NOT FACTORY FRESH... You do have the special serial cable that came with the 2540? The reason I bring this up is because I built a project around 12 of these 2540's and I had to first create the private network to support the CAM function, and then I had to re-IP each of the controllers so that 24 controllers didn't step over themselves IP wise. Once you have the initial registration of the controller, you can change the IP address of the controller within CAM. So, if your 2540 is NOT new to you, the IP address of the controller may have changed. If so, then it will be easier to just "tip" into the controller (as oppose to the time searching the IP spectrum) and change the IP back to default, or to something else. To "tip" into a serial port is the equivalent of creating a null modem connection. If you need to "tip" into the serial port, then this is a different subject for another post.
    Hope this help,

  • Cannot see Networked computers and problems with WEP sign in

I recently installed a new HD (SAMSUNG HM500LI) into my 2.16GHz MacbookPro running 10.5.5 and transferred all my files using Apple's Migration Assistant.
Everything seems to have been working fine until I tried to log in to a friend's wireless network using a WEP password. OSX gives me the error message "Commection Timeout". I can however connect to other unsecured wireless networks on the list.
I have tried deleting the keychain access for the WEP network and reentering the correct password, but no success.
What I have also realised is that I cannot see other macs on my Network in finder any more.
Another point worth mentioning is that the Parallels NAT and Guest in Network preferences (for Parallels virtualisation software) have now automatically been renamed to Ethernet... (en2) and (en3).
I still have my original harddrive in an external casing and booted from that and everything worked perfectly - I can both log onto the WEP wireless internet and see other macs in my vicinity.
Can anyone help me here please? Are there maybe some settings that weren't migrated with the assistant? Could it be that my file sharing settings need altering? Did I maybe not format the new drive correctly (I just erased the new one and formatted it in Mac OS Extended (Journaled))? Has a recent Apple update maybe upset something, and if so, is there a way to uninstall it?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi Robbie, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Have you done any Maintenance since installing?
If not, at start with this...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move these files to the Desktop.
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Then delete the orignals & reboot once more.
On the WEP PW, try putting a Dollar Sign in front of it, like...
    $xxxxxxxxx
Also, is the WEP PW exactly 5 or 13 ASCII, or 10 or 26 HEX characters?

  • Cannot see network drives

I just installed a wireless-n router (WRT610N) and wireless Adapters (WMP600N).  I can access the internet from all computers, but cannot see shared files or print from any computer.  I've run the home network set up wizard and tried many things, but nothing works.
When I connected with Linksys online chat, I was told that I had to reformat all of my hard drives to fat32 (mine are all running NTFS).  I can't believe this is true.
Is there any way I can see shared folders and drives with this hardware configuration? (without reformatting my drives)

Are you able to see the shared folder on the router ? If yes then, Once the set-up page appear, click Storage > Media Server and Enable the UPnP Media Server. Specify Folder to Scan button lets you select content to add to the database of the Router's Media Server. Once you click this button the Media Folder screen appears. Now Check the option Auto-scan click on Scan All and Click on Save Settings.
Now, On your computer go to My Network Places and you will able to see the shared files and folders.

  • IPod touch cannot see network

iPod touch can't see my Wi-Fi network at home (but does see my neighbor's!)

    Illaass,
    Thanks for your thoughtful response!
My friend Ian Z. in England just purchased an iPod touch, and e-mailed me with his problem. (Apple Tech Support was closed in the UK.)
Later, when we spoke by phone, we saw that you mentioned the right answer.
Ian has a dual band Wi-Fi router; it has both the 5 GHz N band on one side, and a 2.4 GHz G band on the other...
While on the call, he was able to get connected on the 2.4 GHz side (and then was able to see devices that ordinarily connect on the 5 GHz side!).
    Appreciate your suggestions...
    Cheers,

  • I can connect, but I can't see networks!

I can connect to a known network choosing the "other" section of my airport settings, but I cannot "see" any networks. I went to the apple store and they told me that they do not know what is wrong with it. I opened the computer to see if all the insides were okay and the antenna was not plugged in, so I did that. Anyone know of a solution?

When you set up the network did you set it upp so it was a "closed" network. Making it invisible unless you click "other".

  • Locked down computer (means I cannot see network settings) allows IE6 but Firefox always times out.

The tech guys have locked down the computer and I cannot see the network settings and have no access to the registry. Firefox always times out so I am forced to use IE6. How to set up Firefox to get round this?

Presumably, you're talking about your company's administrator. It probably wouldn't be wise to try and circumvent their network policy. It might get you fired even.
A better idea would be to show them how insecure IE6 is - ''it's no longer supported by Microsoft for example and exposes their network to all kinds of attacks'' - and that it's in their own interests to use a secure browser like Firefox 4.0
    Maybe they'll even promote you!

  • WRT54GC cannot see network computers

    Hi all,
I've been trying to setup my home network having one wired PC and another one wireless.  After numerous attempts I haven't managed.
I use DHCP and both computers have valid access to internet, belong to the same workgroup - but don't see each other.
At first I thought there was an issue having one computer wired and another one wireless.  So I gave up.
Tonight I connected the notebook using wire and on my surprise computers still couldn't have seen each other.  All setting have been configured as the desktop machine used to be on the network and the notebook is daily used on other networks without problem.
Both machines have valid IPs assigned but cannot ping each other!  They see the router properly but not each other.
Is there anything I have to go through in the router configuration?  Please help.
    Regards,
    AM.

hi , there is nothing specific in the router that you can possibly change for this issue.....however try this for the wireless PC.....go to the wireless section , and then to advanced wireless settings and disable "AP isolation"...
also check if you have any firewalls enabled on your PC 's

  • Cannot see network

I have a WRT54G wireless router, that is configured for both B and G.  I have two computers in our house that have wireless G adaptors and they both connect to the network just fine.  But I cannot get a computer using a wireless B adaptor to find the network.  Any suggestions?

As you posted in your reply the error you are getting is "No wireless network found in range, make sure that the wireless switch is turned on"
    Try this setting:
    1) Open my computer properties >> hardware >> device manager >> look for wireless adapter under network adapter >> check under properties if it is showing status working properly.
    2)  If so then uninstall the adapter from start >> all programs >> linksys wireless G adapter >> click uninstall.
    3)  Reinstall the adapter using updated drivers from http://linksys.com/download ....
    4)  Again try to connect to network ....
Let me know above settings work or not.....

  • Photoshop CC (2014) cannot see network drives

I work on a PC running Windows 8.1 x64. Ever since the a Photoshop CC (2014) update a couple of months ago, my network drives are not directly accessible. I have two network drives, mapped as drives X: and Y:. If I work in Lightroom on a file that resides on my network drives and send it to Photoshop for further work, the file will not open in Photoshop. Additionally, I cannot drag-and-drop a file from Windows Explorer into Photoshop (from any drive). I get the circle with the slash through it showing it can't be done. And finally, Bridge, when I'm working in Photoshop CC (2014) cannot open a network drive image in Photoshop. If it is launched after Photoshop, it does not show the network drives. If it is launched before Photoshop, it shows the mapped drives, as I stated before, can't open a file into Photoshop.
Now for the mind blower. NONE of these things are an issue if I run the "older" Photoshop CC (i.e. - NOT the 2014), which fortunately, I still have on my system.
    Thoughts or help? Thank you.
    Nemo

  • MMC cannot see network drives

I have just build several PCs with Windows 8.1 Pro for my team. I have a problem with mmc.exe - it cannot seem to see any network drives. When I try to save a custom console, the dialog box only presents the local drives. If I try to open a saved file from
a network drive, I get an error box saying:
"MMC cannot open the file Z:\test.msc.
This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient rights to access the file."
If I then move the MSC file to the local disk, it opens correctly.
I can confirm that my NTFS permissions are fine (I can open the MSC file from my Z: drive just fine on my old Windows 7 PC). No matter what I do, though, MMC on the new PCs simply doesn't acknowledge the existence of any network drives. No other programs
have problems with network drives - only MMC. The only thing I could find when searching for the problem was someone reporting the same symptom on Windows 7 after installing the RSAT tools, but there were no answers on that page. The RSAT tools are installed
on my machines, and I have tried uninstalling them, but it made no difference. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Iain

I think you are running into a situation due to User Account Control.
As you probablu know, UAC enforces administrators to run as a normal user by default, and 'elevate' to administrative privileges on a per process base. This measn that there are actually two user sessions: the user and the elevated one. each of those can
have it's own mapped network drives.
verify if this is the case by running  bot a normal and an elevated command prompt and running
net use to show the mapped drives.
then on how to solve this... this behavior is by design and as expected. you should map your drives twice: once as user and once being elevated.
A possible workaround is to disable UAC, which I would not recommend as UAC is an important security boundary
