EA6500 has numerous "network devices" with no MAC

I have noticed from time to time I get many (15-20) "network devices" in the Device List with no MAC address. I notice this mainly when managing Parental Controls. I go and clean up the Device List and days later they reappear.
Another interesting thing is that the computer I am writing this with (through the router) does not show up in the Device List and I have an IP address from the router.
I have the latest firmware 1.1.28.146856.
Does anyone else see this on their EA6500?

There are a lot of people who reported similar or related cases that you have right now. From what I have read, they reset their routers back to factory settings. There is one who got to a work around by adding all of his devices to the DHCP Reservation List and the router is working fine after that.

It is easy to download items you have purchased from iTunes again; this article will walk you through it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You want the "Apps on iOS" section.

  • Log file shows all devices with same MAC on EA6500

Just thought it was rather odd.  I'm running firmware version 1.1.28.14856 on EA6500 series.
    Thanks

The 6500 has numerous issues that is one of them, cisco knows of the issues but really has done nothing to fix them. I would stay far far away from the 6500 it really is broke right out of the box. If you search the forums here and other reviews on the web of the 6500 it's not pretty. The router was rushed to market without the propper testing and cisco decided to make you the customer test it for them. Good Luck with the 6500. And if the moderators in here dont like me telling the truth than simply delete my account here dont matter none to me. Cisco knows im right and so do many others.

  • How could I sync an Android device with a Mac mini?

There does not seem to be any obvious way to sync contacts, or, indeed, much of anything. 'Accounts & Sync', in 'Settings' on the device doesn't acknolwdge that the Mac exists by direct USB connection, Bluetooth, or 802.11 wireless. The device doesn't show in the Finder when connected by USB or 802.11 wireless. (It does _charge_ when connected by USB, and it does show a network connection via 802.11 and its IP shows up on the network, it just won't connect to sync anything.) It's a T-Mobile device; T-Mobile doesn't seem to have any tools to make the connection, or at least I can't find any, and there aren't any apps in the App Store which seem able to do this, or again I can't find any. It's trivial to connect an iOS device; surely _someone_ has a way to connect an Android. Surely?

  • Discovering Network Devices with SNMP not working

I have implemented SCOM 2012 SP1 CU5 on Server 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2 all installed on the same VM running side by side with SCOM 2007 R2 v 6.1.7221.0. I have almost fully decommissioned SCOM 2007 and all that remains on it is 2 network devices that
    I cannot discover with SCOM 2012 using SNMP, no matter what I try. If I just use ICMP the discovery works. I have checked both the devices and SNMP is enabled and if I run this snmpwalk command on both devices I get a response;

The first device is a Marms UPS which has had its firmware upgraded, which was discovered using SNMP in SCOM 2007 and the second device is a Juniper SSG-140 Firewall, again this is discovered using SNMP in SCOM 2007.
I believe that I have setup SNMP correctly on SCOM 2012 because I have 28 other networks devices discovered using SNMP using an explicit discovery, some of these being newer Marms UPS's, emerson air conditioners, netapp SAN etc.
I have added any and all accepted community names in the SNMP service properties on SCOM 2012 and enabled accept SNMP packets from any host.
Does anyone have any information that they could forward to me or point in the right direction to troubleshoot this issue for eg run some snmp get commands and capture / filter traffic with wireshark, what do I look for? Any other logs to check besides the
obvious ones? Any known issues with SCOM 2012 SP1 and SNMP, should I upgrade to R2? It just seems that some network devices get discovered with ease and others do not and I am running out of ideas. Thank you all in advance.

Patrick, thank you for your reply.
Yes the snmpwalk command is run from the new SCOM 2012 server which has the discovery rule on it.
I don't have any pending network devices, its blank.
Could there be an issue with my discovery rule? I have noticed that each time I make a change to, for eg, the access mode and change this from ICMP to ICMP/SNMP, save it, run it, it doesn't seem to update the said network devices access mode's in network
devices, it just stays on ICMP. Do I have to manually remove the network devices which have been discovered before making any changes to the discovery rule and running it which I have done? They don't seem to appear in network devices pending management either?

  • Three Devices with Same MAC

I have three new SiriusXM devices that were giving me trouble a couple weeks ago. Turns out the root of the problem is that all three have the same MAC address. Amazing, but true. 76c2.5e30.1599.
I have a feeling I've given their engineering/manufacturing staff a big headache by discovering this, as they likely have a warehouse full of these things, all with the same MAC. Not my problem, but it would be fun to watch them discover what's going on. haha
But I digress...I don't think they have a solution yet, but I'd like to use the devices anyway, if possible. They are Internet-based XMSirius radios. They all worked when I connected them to the same switch, but the log was getting flushed several times a day with MAC flapping errors every few seconds. We tried separate vlans, but that doesn't work.
Any ideas on how to do something that we shouldn't need to do? :)
    -John

    Hi John,
Is your question how to do away with the mac flap notifications. The switch is giving you its best possible help by telling you that there is a problem.  But if you still want to get rid of it, you may try the following
    (config)#no mac address-table notification mac-move
But again as a best practice i don't recommed to continue use these devices since it can some time cause issues in your network, since it keeps the cpu busy.
Hope this helps and rate my post if it is found to be useful.
    Thanks,
    Madhu.

  • Networking imac with powe mac 604e - ethenet?

Hi i have an older power mac 604e computer
and i want to network it with a new
imac. Im trying to get my old files transferred onto my new computer. The old power mac has an old fashion scii connection and it does not have usb nor firewire so i thought the ethernet connection would be the best way.
this is just a one time transfer of data and i already have an ethernet cable. How do i set this up?
    thanks for the advice
    steven

The 604e computer has to be running Mac OS 9 or OS X to be able to talk to your iMac running Tiger. You can try to connect the two computers via an ethernet cable and then configure things as follows here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/os9xnet_nfilesharing.html
That page indicates that you can also get this to work with system 8.5 and 8.6 but I found those systems to drop connections alot. It may work without a crossover cable if the autosensing features of the ethernet ports work correctly. Lastly if you have an ethernet hub you can use that (with regular cables) instead of a crossover cable. Good luck and keep an eye on things as you may get drops anyway!

  • My ipad has lost its sync with my mac.

For some reason my ipad is not recognised by my mac's itunes library.  It wants to delete and resync.  I have back it up manually - but I want to make sure that game settings etc are not lost forever.  If I sync (erase and reinstall) can I then back up manually the game settings / levels?
    Thanks

Yes - you should be able to restore from the backup if needed and that should restore your game data - as long as you perform the manual backup before you erase and install. You may find that even if you select erase and install that everything will be OK anyway - because you are installing your own iTunes library back onto the iPad. It's not like you are syncing to a new computer - you are still syncing to your own iTunes library.
Look at this article - is this what you are experiencing by some chance?
    http://itsmichaelw.com/tutorials/this-computer-has-been-previously-synced-with-a n-iphone-or-another-ios-device/
But have you tried quitting iTunes, rebooting the Mac and restarting the iPad? Sometimes I get weird messages from iTunes and if I restart all devices, things return to normal.

  • 802.1X wireless network problems with Intel Mac

To login to the wireless network at my school I have to use an 802.1X connection authenticating with TTLS, TLS, EAP-FAST and PEAP protocols.
This works intermitently. Some days my MacBook logs on quickly with no problems at all but most days it has a self assigned IP address and I can't use the internet. My friend also uses a MacBook, which acts in the same way. Some days she manages to get on, some days I can get on and some days we are both on together. The problem is really irritating!! We get no support from the techs as we are the only Mac people in the school. The rest of the staff have PCs. The techs are just trying to use this issue to justify why letting people lease Macs is a problem and stop other staff from leasing them in the future.
I did find a solution at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=425113&tstart=0
but this was written in 2006 and I wonderered if this was still valid.
    Can anyone help? please???

I am a tech at our school and we have the same problems. still trying to find a permanent solution!
If you turn airport off, then turn on again, (from system prefs > network) does it change from "self-assigned IP Address" to "Authenticated via PEAP)?
the macs are more and more popular at our school, so its becoming more and more of an issue.
    cheers,
    Harry

  • Networking together with older Macs

I am running Tiger 10.4.3. I have in the past, with earlier versions of OSX, connected to computers in my household running 8.6. I had to do this when I changed over to my new computer, which at the time was using Jaguar. We got a DSL connection, so we decided to network the computers together. I cannot mount the disks from the older computers running 8.6. They show up in the Network, but when you click connect, we get the error message: This file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol. You cannot connect to it.
Do I have something set up wrong, or has apple made it impossible for a computer running Tiger to connect to a computer running 8.6? If they have made it impossible to do this, will it be possible for me to connect to my children's computers if I upgrade them to 9.1?

Is there a way for them to access my computer
    without
having to enter an IP address each time?
This should be possible if you check the "Make
AppleTalk Active" option in Tiger's AppleTalk pane of
the appropriate network port in the Network system
preference. (Probably "Built-in Ethernet" if you use
a wired router.) This should 'broadcast' the Tiger
Mac's network name (set in the Sharing sys pref) to
the older Macs, allowing them to see that name in the
Chooser & connect to it in the traditional way.
We have AppleTalk active in Tiger. We can see the name of the Tiger computer in the chooser on the older computers, but if we try to connect that way, it loses the connection. If we enter the IP address, in the chooser, it works though.
One word of caution about this one way sharing: the
older OS versions don't know enough not to show files
on OS X Macs that they shouldn't. You should make
sure your kids don't access it using an admin account
name to avoid exposing more of the OS X Mac's hard
drive than necessary. Even if they just can access
their own account's home folder (recommended), public
folders, etc., a few normally invisible files will
show up, so make sure they understand they should not
    disturb them.
They only have access to the public folder.
    Can 9.1 communicate both ways?
Yes, as long as the enable file sharing over TCP/IP
box is checked in its File Sharing control panel.
(This is the checkbox missing in earlier versions.)
I have an old SuperMac S900 that doesn't officially
support anything later than 9.1 either (because it
uses a 680X0 processor). Its network name appears in
Tiger Finder's networked volumes list & I can connect
to its "available shares" without getting the
incompatible AFP version error or any other problems.
It is sometimes slow to show up on the network list
after starting up, & the same may apply for your
children's Macs, but if you give it 5 minutes or so,
they should appear & work just as well.
Well, that is good to know. My children all have power PC's PowerMac 5400 for most of them and one PowerMac 5500. Got them all at school auctions or they wouldn't have their own computers. : - )

  • EA6300 5g Problems and Devices with no MAC

    Problem 1
    I have been on the phone with Support about 5g connection problems;
sometime it connects, sometimes it does not,
When I reboot the router in my device connects, after awhile it starts to degrade and drop.
Yes I have separate ssid, Yes I have been working with support,

Devices where showing up, with MAC address as 00;000;00
Sorry to Say I settled for my Asus RT-AC66u in the meantime.

Hi! You mentioned about 1.1.39, is that your current firmware? Did you try to update the firmware to Ver.1.1.40 (build 153731) and experienced the same issue? Did you also try changing the channel settings on the 5Ghz network?

  • A way to use G network devices with 5ghz 'N' network devices?

    Hi guys,
I recently setup my new Airport Extreme in 5ghz 'N" mode - it shares a hard drive with all my Macs, and it streams large movies (some HD) to Macs, and to my Apple TV. I love the pure 5ghz N mode for its speed - it enables me to get the same internet speed result tests on my MBP from my 24meg ADSL connection i got when wired directly to the modem (the wireless G modem the company sent out halfed the speed i could get via a wired connection!)
Anyway, of course the down side to this is no 'G' network clients cna join the 'N' network, which means my old 2.5ghz G5 is too outdated, our iPhones dont support it and i cant share the printer with my newer macs wirelessly with my 'G' only Airport Express.
So my iPhone could connect to the net i left the wireless router my broadband supplier sent me in G mode - and it connects to my Airport Extreme very simply via ethernet.
Of couse this doesn't solve My G5, allow my iPhone to work as a remote for Macbook/Apple TV or share my printer...is there anyway possible with my airport express to set up a wireless 'G' network which can somehow "talk" to the 'N' network if i wire them together via ethernet?
Id imagine this is a long shot with regards to Apple remote functionality but i dont want to lose the pure 'N' speed i need, and i would like to use apple remote and obvioulsy be able to print to my printer without having to disconnect the N network and join the G network.
So anyway in bridge mode the airport express can talk to the airport extreme and run two seperate speed wifi networks?

So anyway in bridge mode the airport express can talk to the airport extreme and run two seperate speed wifi networks?
Yes, this is known as a "Dual Band" network.
Setting up a "dual band" network is described in the Designing AirPort Networks document, starting on page 48.

  • HELP!!My ibook won't boot (has nothing to do with the MAC OSX update)

My preview, i photo, and all other picture galleries weren't working so i turned the computer off and when i tried to turn it back up it got to the grey screen with turning wheel but wouldnt go further even after an hour.
    Two questions:
    1) is there anyway to remedy this w/o reinstalling?
    2) is there anyway to backup what is saved on my computer?
The second question is much more important as I am a student and have all of my current work saved on my mac much of which i do not have hard copies of (I know it was stupid not to have hard copies or back it up prior to this).

if you can not boot up your OS, then it could be a simple glitch in the OS, or it could be totally corrupt. you should try and repair the disc.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
if that does not work, you can attempt to troubleshoot the startup issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464
also, you have the ability to archive and install:
this does not erase data from the drive, but does reapply the OS
