EA6500 Wireless Issues Performance Test and MTU setting

Just changed from DSL to Comcast Internet with a 25Mbps download service. Purchased the Comcast the Linksys cable modem to match the EA6500. Last night when testing doing some Netflix HD streaming while downloading Direct TV HD movie noticed that performance was not streaming HD in fact it was as bad as the slow DSL.
So tried the Smart Wifi Performance test several time and downloads were terrible 3.0 Mbps, however, when testing with other testers, speakeasy, speedtest performance was above 25 Mbps. Called support and they had no answer.
What is wrong with the speed test smart wifi? Why was I not getting HD streaming speeds? I shoulf have plenty of bandwidth.
Also I can seem to find the right MTU setting. Every packet amount I ping is working so I can not get a fragmented error.
I thought this router was advertised as a HD video router.
I have just about everything disabled including Media Priority.

To get the optimum HD streaming performance, you can try setting the following on the router's page :
- disable or turn off WMM Support under Media Prioritization.
- personalize the wireless settings, set different names on the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.
Let the streaming devices connect to the 5Ghz network.

EA6500 - Wireless Issues, Varied possibly tied to leases?

I am switching over from a Netgear WNDR Router, and this EA6500 V1 is really giving me some recurring, very minor wireless issues. I have to assume its tied to some setting I just am not seeing.
My laptop will just lose internet connectivity. The connection to the router is still strong, but I have to follow the Win7 troubleshooting, it reboots the network card in the laptop, and its good again. Then a random amount of time later, it will do that again. Seems to happen much more the further I am from the router, as at night the laptop comes upstairs, I go from 5 bars to 3 (speed is pretty much unchanged) and I'll get 4 or 5 of those occurences.
Wireless printer is really been a pain with this. From the Brother 430W I can find and join the home network easily. From there its been sporadic at best. If I log into the router ( immediately after joining ) I can see the printer, and its Online. Searching on either laptop in the house it won't find it. If I just leave it or do multi reboots it will come up. I add it, print a test page and all is well. The next day, the printer is offline on the router and can't be reached. On the printer itself it thinks its fine. If I remove the device, then reboot the printer and do it all again I can find it, but only for that day.
The laptops and printer are on the 2.4Ghz network, laptop joining on n at 150Mbps. I added the printer to the DMZ and increased the lease time to the maximum the field would allow. Still no success.
Any ideas? With the old router the wireless printer joined the day we bought it, and 2 years later it was still active and had never been rebooted. Same with the laptop. Its about 3 years old and I've never had to reboot the internal card like this.
For now I've gone back to the Netgear but I'd like to get the EA working if I can so I can give my old router to my parents.

If you have a stable wired connection, this challenge might be due to wireless interference. Try changing the wireless channel to 1, 6 or 11.
If the wired connection is also not stable and provided that you have a stable connection straight to the modem, clone the MAC address of your computer on the router setup page if you have a cable internet connection. For Linksys Smart WiFi, go to Connectivity > Internet Settings > Enable MAC Address Clone > Clone My PC's MAC > Apply. For the classic web interface, check out this link.

Could you please address on the security configuration of the 1410 bridge and on how to test the bandwidth/throughput between two 1410 Bridges setup for point-to-point connectivity.

Bandwitdh testing is usually done with Iperf with an iperf PC standing at each side of the bridge.
I'm not sure what you mean with "address on the security configuration" though ...

Flash SWF Performance Testing and Data

Looking for some recommendations on tools that can be used independent of the source (that is just on the swf) to check for Frames Per Second, total size and how often the movie loops.
Needed for Flash Banner ad quality assurance.

The need was solved by writing my own AIR app to read the SWF file header.

Load & Performance Testing In The Cloud - Silverlight Support

I currently have Visual Studio Premium with MSDN. I know in order to use Load Testing in the cloud I will have to upgrade to Ultimate.
One of the our web apps that I need to do a load and performance test on uses SilverLight.
Here is my questions. I want to verify that the provisioned virtual machines in the cloud when I run load testing will support Silverlight. I know it sounds like a silly question but before I go to Management to approve this upgrade I need to verify it will
work. No need to waste money.

The web tests: Web tests are used to test the functionality of Web applications and to test Web applications under load. Web tests are used both in performance tests and stress tests. It works at the protocol layer by issuing HTTP requests.

How can I perform performance runs of a set of tests and compare results across runs?

I have automated some scenarios using VS unit test frame work for a desktop application. I can see when running I get timing for how long the test takes.
What I'd like to do (using the test frame work or another tool) is run these scenarios before and after a performance fix and get an easy to read delta report on how much faster or slower each scenario got.
How can I achieve this with Visual Studio?

GT70 2PC – Software testing and performance report.

It is so excited here again. Currently, my first/only object after work is playing Titanfall.
I intended to share another performance testing today. But I didn’t. I found there are too many great open box posts on different forums. Therefore, I decide to dig the MSI software compatibility and do a touring. What can I say? I’m Mr.Curiosity who really desires to know every built-in application in system. That is why I share this article with you, my friends. I would like to discuss with everybody who is interested in MSI software. Of course, I have some performance reports for you, too. Please also remind me if you find any typo/wrong in this post. Thanks in advance.
1. MSI Boot Configure
This is the first software which pops up immediately. It is thoughtful design because we can choose enter the [Windows 8.1 metro] or [desktop] by ourselves now. I give it two thumbs up!!!
Select your favorite boot configuration and press [OK]. If we want it work immdiately, we can logout the system and re-login again.
2.   MSI Remind Manager
Honestly, I didn’t know what it is in the beginning. The cute robot shows every time when I login the system. I found this is a reminder for product registration. Good, I would like to have best MSI support and warranty for my lovely GT70 2PC. But don’t worry, if you don’t want to get this message again, you just need to select the right option and close it.
3.   Synaptics TouchPad
This is a driver for mouse. [Mouse property] will show if we do the double clicks on TouchPad icon in tray. You can choose enable/disable internal pointing device when external pointing device is attached. This is brilliant. A tough guy (like me…HA! HA!) didn’t like to play game with touchpad. Because the character in game will be weak and slow if I control it by touchpad. Of course, I need the external mouse all the time and don’t want the interference from touchpad.
4.   System Control Manager (SCM)
We can enable/disable the WLAN/BT/camera devices by SCM. Besides, it can control the display brightness, volume, screen on/off and ECO. ECO is special mode for gaming watching movie.
5.   Sound Blaster CINEMA
Sound Blaster CINEMA is come from an old school audio company – CREATIVE. The software can adjust the surround sound easily. We also can adjust 5.1/7.1 surround sound for the internal speakers and external headphone. That is great, isn’t it?
Besides, we can also adjust CRYSTALIZER/BASS/SMART VOLUME/digital output by ourselves.
6.   Killer Network Manager
This is a major feature of MSI NB.
In Killer Network Manager, we can set the network priority for each of applications and we also can abandon the connection from malicious software.
[Performance] shows current status of network. We can find out which application occupied the most greedy resources by it.
[Network -> Test Network Speed] will detect the network environment automatically. Furthermore, it will adjust the priority for applications.
[Killer Ethernet] show the LAN connection info.
[Killer Wireless] show the router info.
7.   SteelSeries Engine
This is another major feature of MSI NB
If we do the right click on icon in tray, the menu will show following list. We can select [Launch SteelSeries Firmware Update Tool], [Updates]…and so on.
If we select the [Settings]. It can help us change default language and set application auto running when system power on.
I.   Buttons
Double click to open the SteelSeries Engine. I think it can set 4 different keyboard settings for each of profiles. And it can switch by FN+1~4.
[Keypress Marc] can record what you input. And [Record Delays ] can modify the delay time. HA! No game can block us anymore. Please remember to press the [SAVE] for your setting
[Launch Application] can launch any application immediately. I suggest to set the cold key for this function.
Here is example. I use [PgUp] to quick start the 3D Mark11. See, it will pop up when I pressed [PgUp].
It is simple to use [TextMarco] set our own phrase. Now I become a quick speaker in my team. One key, only one key can help me to type a lot of words.
Are you tired to press some keys that you never want to touch in game (Like WIN KEY)? It is not the problem now. [Disable Key] will do the favor and disable any key which you hate.
II.   [Colors] can change the color of backlight keyboard. Also, you can set different modes (Gaming/Audio…etc) on it.
We can change the color zone. There is not only 4 or 5 colors. The engine provides thousands of colors for us. [Audio mode] is the coolest. It will change colors by itself when we play music by speakers. I like to dance with my keyboard.
III.   We can select different languages by [Settings].
IV.   [Properties] can save our hard works of settings reliably.
V.   If you want to defeat your competitors, it is important to know your enemy. However, It is more important to know yourself. [Statistics] can help us observe which keys are most popular by our fingers.
Right click on [Profile]. It can modify/export/import/delete the profiles.
Mouse can use the same kind of settings as keyboard.
DPI setting for mouse.
Save files.
We can record the mouse, too.
8.   Norton
Norton Internet Security: Anti-Virus software, MSI provides 60 days for free.
Norton Online Backup: Online data backup software, MSI provides 30 days for free.
Norton Anti-Theft: Anti-Theft software, MSI provides 30 days for free.
If you like Norton’s products, you can buy it online.
If you don’t, I believe we can uninstall it directly.
So, the decision is ours.

9.   Dragon Gaming Center
I.   System Monitor:
It can monitor CPU/GPU loading and temperature. We also can find the network speed and fan speed in it.
II.   Utility:
You can set your favorite apps in [Add new Utility].
E.g. I added a [MSI Afterburner]. Click [Open] to build the link. Do you feel familiar with something? Exactly, [Launch Application] of [SteelSeries Engine] can do this, too.
III.   Instant Play:
We can define [Fn+F4] to enable the quick start. But there is more secret.
We can also use [Browse] to assign the game which we want.
Click the icon of game and [Fn+F4] will be ready. We can only use 1 program at once.
I usually change the brightness, volume and mouse sensitive before the game. As you know, every games are different. It is sweet because we can use [Apply Setting] to do this.
I can’t believe it. We also can find the clock feature in it. How convenient it is!
IV.   Hybrid Power is another MSI feature.
It can provide the power by AC adapter and battery in the same time. We can monitor the status in here.
10. BurnRecovery
It can create the recovery CD/DVD/USB for MSI NB.
Here can select Recovery disc/USB/ISO.
I will make a ISO file first.
We can select where to put the ISO.
Creating the recovery file...
Finish!
Open the folder and we can find 4 ISO files in it.
Well…[BurnRecovery Help] provide the details spec.
In my opinion, everyone should create their own recovery image. You will need it in one day.
11. Battery Calibration
This is software for battery calibration. In order to keep our battery good, we should do the calibration every three months. Don’t forget to plug-in the AC adapter and battery during the process..
Press [Start] to begin the process. It will make the battery fully charged first.
Then, it will empty the battery like this.
System will shut down after the empty process. At last, fully charged again. It will take 4~5 hrs to complete the process.

13. Super-Charger
There is no message when I click this app at the first time. But when I attached my IPAD, it pops up the [Super-Charger]. It is amazing because IPAD can’t be charge by this USB port. As far as I know, the USB 3.0 only provides maximum 900mA for its device. IPAD will need 2.1A for charge process. I have no idea how MSI NB make IPAD charging okay.
14. XSplit GameCaster
This is one of important features. I saw many different first class gaming machines this year. All of them have the broadcast software. (Like PS4, Xbos ONE)
It can switch the default language after we login.
Twitch/YouTube / Facebook/ Twitter/Google+ can be used by [Accounts]. It is easy to start the live show.
We can modify the resolution and use twitch by [Setting]
We can configure FPS/CPU loading/where to show on display by [Status label].
Hotkey configuration.
Videos storage.
Press [Ctrl+Tab] to call Gamecaster in game. And we can twitch or modify setting. I will provide my gaming video for you later.
15. Power DVD
This is a famous video player. Also, it can support BD format.
We can use the [Setting] to change our language.
We can change 5 times for default country .
It is glad that I’ve finished the introduction of GT70 software.

I have had wireless issues sense Leapord, any fixes yet? its a shame that my wife has to sit in front of our 27 inch imac on a $300 Windows computer to use the web effectively. I have tried all fixes and some work while others don't but all temporary

This Lion wireless issue has become more than just an irritation, so much so, my wife has resorted to sitting in front of a 27 inch imac with a 300 dollar Walmart Windows computer to get the bills paid and use the web. And yes, there is not a fix out there I haven't tried over the last year or so, some worked and some didn't, but all were temporary at best. Same issue with my Macair, I wonder if its a hardware issue, like the video card in my 2006 MBP, it went out after the warrenty and then I found out there was a calss action suit going on over it, unfortunately Apple wouldn't cover it and wanted 7oo bucks to fix it, sold that as parts.
While i really like me Macs, I own three, I may have to bow out and stick with LINUX, that has yet to let me down, anyone know if Mountain will fix this issue? or are we all just waiting for defective WiFi cards to fail at our own expense, PS, got three Macs for sale.

Sounds like you're getting kernel panics, which are usually, but not always, caused by hardware problems, with memory being one of the regular culprits.
First thing I would do is to get our your original OS X disks, insert the first one (should say 'AHT version x.x' in small print on the label - if not, find the one that does), and reboot holding the Alt key down. Choose the Apple hardware test, and when prompted, choose the extended test. If you have either of the TechTool programs, they can do similar testing. Does that identify any hardware issues?
Next, I'd download rember from http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/ . This is a memory testing program that you can set to run overnight. Does it come up with any errors? If so, try resetting your memory card(s) by removing and putting back into the computer. Rerun memory test.

Apex listener installed no test and set bind variables buttons

I have installed Apex listener and while creating restful service module i dont see test and set bind variables buttons in the source region.
I went through the many posts. Installed apex listener successfully.
getting http://localhost:8080/ords/ started message when i start the listener.
and using Apex URL as http://localhost:7780/pls/htmldb.
What are the possibilities for this issues?

We have used BI publisher Enterprise (standalone), Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1. Our admin set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment based on the folder. For example, there is DEV folder, TEST folder and PROD folder. Developer is developing reports under DEV folder. Under TEST and PROD folder, there are many sub-folder based on the login user role. Sometimes a report has to be assigned to a multiple sub-folder under PROD. So our admin create symbolic links in the Linux box which BI server is located. That way, if a report is updated, there is no need to update the report in all sub-folder.
The issue I have is we are not allowed to touch any files under TEST/PROD folder. Only admin will move the report from DEV folder to TEST/PROD folder because those links admin created might be broken. However, as a developer, we still have permission to delete/rename/copy report under those restricted folders. Yesterday one report under PROD has been renamed by a developer. And admin complains because the links he has created not working anymore. Just wonder if admin doesn't allow developers to touch the reports under those folders, is there a way to remove the write permission on those folders? Also do you think this is a good practice to set up DEV, TESDT and PROD environment? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Using Test Setting file to run web performance tests in different environments

Hello,
I have a set of web performance tests that I want to be able to run in different environments.
Currently I have csv file containing the url of the load balancer of the particular environment I want to run the load test containing the web performance tests in, and to run it in a different environment I just edit this csv file.
Is it possible to use the test settings file to point the web performance tests at a particular environment?
I am using VSTS 2012 Ultimate.

Instead of using the testsettings I suggest using the "Parameterize web servers" command (found via context menu on the web test, or via one of the icons). The left hand column then suggests context parameter names for the parameterised web server
URLs. It should be possible to use data source entries instead. You may need to wrap the data source accesses in doubled curly braces if editing via the "Parameterize web servers" window.

WRT310N v1 and MacBook Pro wireless issues

I've been having ongoing wireless issues with my WRT310N v1. I have a macbook pro (early 2009) with mac os 10.5.8. I have cable internet, with a DHCP connection. I have a computer and PS3 hardwired through the router, and they work flawlessly. The wireless, however, has never been what it should be. Internet loads slow, even though the connection speed is pretty good (not as fast as hardwired devices, but close).
Here are the wireless settings:
wireless config: manual
network mode: mixed (the Macbook can get wireless-n, by iPhone is only g)
Radio band: standard 20 mhZ
wide channel: 9 (can't change this with this config, unless i go wide channel at 40 mhZ)
standard channel: 11
SSID broadcast: enabled
I've got WPA2 security, with AES encryption. I've set the Beacon interval to 75, and left the Fragmentation and RTS thresholds at default. The firewall is activated, and "filter anonymous internet requests" is disabled.I'm wondering if I'm losing so much speed by broadcasting a mixed signal, instead of just G or just N. I've tried transmitting only in Wireless-N, but there's no noticeable change (and the iPhone can't connect at all).
Any input at all would be really appreciated. I'm hoping I don't have to fork over $30 to linksys just to get tech support. Thanks in advance.

Well its not necessary to power cycle your router everytime whenever you make any changes on your Router. But if you re-configure all the settings on your from scratch, then its better to power cycle your router.

Using HP Officejet 6110 and Officejet 6500 wireless issues

I have been using an HP Offciejet 6110 printer for a long time with an HP laptop running WINXP. I purchased a new HP laptop running WIN7. The WIN7 laptop will print to the 6110 in color only and doesn't allow the HP Imagimg Director software to work.
I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer and set that up to run off the HP laptop with WIN7 using the full software install. That seems to be working OK.
I then setup theold XP laptop using only the drivers for the Officejet 6500 so I could still use the Officejet 6110 from that computer and all the scanning and other features of the HP Imageing Director software. But it appears that the Officejet 6500 drivers have scewed up the Officejet 6110 software drivers on the XP laptop. How do I get this computer back to using the 6110 as normal (which was very useful) but be able to use the 6500 as an optional printer without all the 6500 features?

Thanks for clarifying the issue again. I was a bit confused.
How is the Officejet 6500 and Officejet 6110 setup on the Windows XP? (USB, Wireless)
Both models use completely different software. So there shouldn't be any interference even if the full software had been installed for the Officejet 6500. If both printers are connected by a USB cable, then the Officejet 6500 might have taken over the port and therefore causing the scan not to work.
What happens when you try to scan? (error message)
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Officejet 6110. This way it will be recognized on the new port assigned.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
The Officejet 6110 is a Windows Update for Windows 7. There is no HP Imaging Director software available to run on Windows 7. Installing the Printer Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection.
Please provide in detail the results. If I missed anything, just let me know.

Uft 12.01 record and run setting issues

i am bhumika from CDOT. i am experiencing an issue in record and run settings of UFT 12.01. i have recorded hundreds of scripts for our web application for different modules whose record and run setting was http://192.168.103.74:8080/softswitch/ now i want same scripts to be run on http://192.168.103.183:8080/softswitch/ . now the issue is i want to change the web settings globaly for hundreds of script but UFT allow me to open each script individualy and then change setting for each n every test case wgich is very much time consuming.
Can u please suggest me a solution for globaly changing the web address in record and run settings for the scripts which was earlier recorded on some other address. Immediate solution required

Create VB Script with QTP automation object model and then we can define Run and Record settings for all scripts and Save.

Performance issue with calendar and applescript

I have a performance issue using applescript and calendar with this script:

There are app. 700 events in the calendar "Cal". Therefore the get-command takes about 15 seconds. The problem is, that iCal is completely blocked for this time. This means it is even not possilbe to scroll through the calendar. This problem occurs only under OS X 10.9. With OS X 10.8.x it is still possible to use calendar even a time-consuming get-command is processed.
Any ideas? Maybe there is a way to reduce the task-priority of an applescript?

1) Must I set "None" or "On Time"
- In order for the Calendar to fire an Alarm, it must know what time to fire the alarm. In the event of an All Day Event, it will go off at 12am. The option for "Repeat", below the "Alarm", states the frequency of the event (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, etc). So to set an alarm that fires once a month, set the TIME you want the alarm to go off (Make sure "All Day" is unchecked if you want a specific time), then choose "On Time" for the "Alarm", and one of the several "Monthly" options for "Repeat". - Not directly. However, your phone automatically syncs with your Google Calendar, set up if you create your account. If you so choose, you may export your iCal calendar, import it into your Google calendar, and then use your Google calendar (http://calendar.google.com) to manage your agenda. I have experience with all manner of devices and operating systems, from WebOS to BB to iOS to Android, and I believe this phone has the best hardware coupled with a solid operating system in TouchWiz, and I don't want to see people frustrated with these devices by questions that get nothing more than, "You can't do that" answers from the people that are expected to support them.
