EA6900 IPv6 invalid address issue

I’m trying to setup IPv6 on my router (EA6900). My cable modem is a Motorola Surfboard 6120 DOCSIS 3.0 which is IPv6 compatible. The network interface card in my PC has IPv6 setup on it. My ISP (Charter Communication) has setting instructions at http://www.myaccount.charter.com/customers/Support.aspx?SupportArticleID=2665#prep4ip6 . I follow the instructions and I get this error from the router:
I have also tried setting the 6rd tunnel to “automatic” but nothing happens. Any suggestions? To me it seems that the router is asking for a full IPv6 address when it should be accepting a prefix, perhaps a firmware defect.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Just remove the /32 off the IPv6 IP Address. The prefix length is specified underneath.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • IPv6 Duplicate Address issue

    I'm having a problem involving IPv6 with stateless autoconfig on my network. I have a Cisco 800 series router and we have several VLAN interfaces each configured with an IPv6 prefix. The problem I'm noticing is that whenever any host on the network tries to start up with stateless autoconfig they immediately detect a duplicate address for whatever address they are trying to use.
    I performed a packet capture and what I'm seeing is that when the host selects an IPv6 address to use, it performs the Neighbor Solicitation to check if the address is in use. I immediately see the exact same Neighbor Solicitation message echo'd back with the source MAC being the Cisco router. This causes the host to reject the address as a duplicate since it is receiving a Neigbor Soliciation for the same address it is attempting to use.
    This happens on all of the VLANs I have configured for IPv6. The basic VLAN config is like this:
    interface Vlan109
     description Engineering VLAN
     ip address .....
     ip helper-address .....
     ip nat inside
     ip virtual-reassembly in
     ip tcp adjust-mss 1300
     ipv6 address HE-ENG ::/64 eui-64
     ipv6 enable
     ipv6 nd ra interval 60
    Attached is a PCAP with some ICMPv6 traffic. You can see that the NS messages are duplicated and the source of the duplicates seems to be the Cisco router (70:ca:9b:e0:94:2e). Does anyone know what is going on here?

    Hi,
    Under you interface val config can you try adding:-
    int vlan 109
    ipv6 address autoconfig
    Worth a try
    Regards
    Alex

  • How can I turn off IPv6 temporary addresses in a enterprise environment

    So in a default configuration Vista and Windows 7 clients will use IPv6 temporary address (per RFC 3041), but I would like to be able to disable this with a GPO.
    I know I can do this by using a startup script tied to a GPO using the netsh interface ipv6 set privacy state=disabled store=persistent but I really do not want to run a logon script especially when as you can see in the command it is a persistent
    setting.
    Any ideas on using a registry based GPO for this?

    Hi,
    OK, I understand what you want. But after I use the Process Monitor to capture the behavior, I found that a lot of registry keys would be changed. So you can not set it via registry unless the IPv6 is disabled.
    Thanks for understanding.
    Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”
    Thank you again for the answer.
    As a follow up question... How does one suggest/request a change in default behavior in a MS product?
    While the RFC 3041 addresses might be nice to have for the average consumer they are not ideal in a enterprise environment. I have found that the temporary addresses will register in DNS, but this doesn't completely solve the issue of tracking and accountability,
    you would still need a application to query, correlate and store that information.
    So it would be nice if the business versions of Windows Vista/7/2K8 and the next client OS would not have this behavior by default.

    PS: It could also be possible that the application server does not have the complete recipient information or not have nothing at all?????  i will look into dat aswell.

    Hi WidPacket,
    Thank you for your question.
    If message flow is well for other users, we could make sure we have configured receive connector for application server, then we could make sure email address of application server was configured with correct format. If the application server has cache,
    we could delete cache to check if the issue persist.
    If the issue persist, we could contact third application server.
    If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

    Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid add-ins and AVs.
    If there is any 3rd party add-ins, please try to disable them for testing.

  • "invalid address"--solution from Apple support that worked for me

    I have been among the throng who have been frustrated for the past couple of days by not being able to get even free Apps and songs from the iTunes store,let alone purchase anything,since all attempts at  downloading/purchasing or even updating Apps on the iPad are met with a message "invalid address" and a link to update billing info in the store. I have called AppleCare once, and have been in an email correspondence with an iTunes support rep since May 10. After assuring her that this was not a personal credit card problem, she started to work this with me as a system problem.
    First she had me correct my billing info to include Zip+4 zip codes instead of the 5 digit zip code I had entered. She had me contact the issuer of my credit card to be sure they were using zip+4 (they were not). I corrected the address by phone with the credit card company and then corrected it in my iTunes billing account,but I still was not able to get anything from the store since all attempts were met with an "invalid address" message loop.
    At that point I emailed the support rep back to report no joy with her zip code+4 fix.
    I changed my city name to all caps, changed my payor source to none and was able to download a free song, so I knew progress was possible,but still could not buy anything with a credit card or PayPal, both of which had had address corrections to the zip codes.
    Then I got this email fix from Apple support:
    "Please look over your address in the following link:
    http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/
    Then we will make sure that address matches in the Apple Store and iTunes. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
    1) Visit the My Apple ID website at:
    http://appleid.apple.com
    2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
    3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
    4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
    5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
    6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
    7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
    8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner.
    When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Once you click Done, you should be able to purchase on the iTunes Store ..."
    I followed this to the letter--my address was correct in the USPS zip4 site,although they use all caps for everything and I did not capitalize the street name.
    When I logged into the Apple ID site I found they had 1 addresses,one perfectly correct per USPS and another with obvious errors in the street address.
    I deleted the erroneous one,saved the correct one and logged out.
    When I went back to the iTunes store I was able to purchase and download an App for my iPad using my original credit card.
    So making sure my address matched the USPS database, then checking the address in the Apple ID site,then going back to the iTunes store worked for me.
    YMMV--I am posting this because several people indicated they had not even had a (useful) reply from Apple support.

    iOS 4.3.3

    I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? I'm sure I will spend weeks or months trying to get a credit out of these incompetent idiots.

  • Send mail problem having invalid address with correct addresses

    I used java mail api to send mails. the code is a s below
    javax.mail.Session mailSession=(javax.mail.Session)ctx.lookup("java:/Mail");
    mailSession.setDebug(false);
    javax.mail.Message msg = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage(mailSession);
    msg.addRecipients(javax.mail.Message.RecipientType.TO, addressToArr);
    msg.setSubject(mailSubject);
    msg.setContent(mailBody, contentType);
    javax.mail.Transport.send(msg);
    But if there is an invalid address in the recipient address array, the email won't be sent to the correct addresses as well. i just want to know whther it happens any coding issues or our mail server implementation.

    Hi!
    You need to activated properties config mail.smtp.sendpartial to true :
    // Setup partial mail
    props.put("mail.smtp.sendpartial", (new Boolean(partial)).toString());
    if the recipient address array have bad address, it will still be sent to good address...
    or/and check email address before send mail :
    public static boolean isValidEmail(String email)
              if (email == null) return false;
              boolean valid = true;
              try
                   InternetAddress addr = new InternetAddress(email);
                   addr.validate();
              catch (AddressException ex)
                   valid = false;
              return valid;
    }regards,

  • Adoobe Reader "Attempt to access invalid address"

    I have installed Adobe Reader XI.  The installation seems to complete successfully but when I try to launch aplication I get an error with the file path followed by the message "Attempt to access invalid address".  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling,  manully deleteing keys in the registry, and about any other thing I can think of.  Any suggesstions would be welcome.

    Hi eugene,
    I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
    The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
    Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
    In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
    The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:

  • Invalid Address

    BES user 8 years.  Have traveled out of state many a times with no issues.  Last week was in Las Vegas and received company mail all day long but when I did a reply and send I got a big fat red X and it stated Message included an invalid address.  After several times of replying to company emails and getting the same red X and message of invalid address, I popped the battery out and then back in to no avail. I checked my network settings and all was good there. I then tried just sending an email to my peer - of course I know his email address and keyed it in only to get the same condition after sending.  It is strange that the BES would send me email but I couldn't reply nor create a new and send without this error.  I also have my gmail set up on my 9350 and there were no issues of receiving or replying/sending - only on the BES side.  To make matters worse, my husband has a BB on a BES with his work and he had no problems at all.  The IT manager said there were no issues on the BES as all other users were working with no problems.
    Once I returned to California there was no issue.
    I would love to know what caused this condition and was there something else I could have done to resolve it.

    Hey cshine,
    Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
    I would suggest to contact your BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) admin to review BES logs to help determine the cause. Currently there are no IT policies that can disable data while roaming (http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB32184), reviewing the BES logs may help determine the cause.
    Let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks.

  • Reassigning IPv6 temporary address when it receives router advertisements

    Hi everybody.
    I've just met a problem with IPv6 connectivity.
    *My environment*
    I list my environment that I tested as follows.
    1. MacBook Pro (A)
    OS Version: 10.6.4
    Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x93)
    Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.131.16.1)
    IPv6 temporary address setting: net.inet6.ip6.use_tempaddr=1
    2. AP+Router
    TimeCapsule
    N.B., I experienced same problem under other sets of router and access point (Cisco's ones). So, let me skip to write the detail of this.
    3. MacBook Pro (B) (No problem with this Laptop)
    OS Version: 10.6.4
    Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87)
    Firmware Version: Atheros 5416: 2.0.19.10
    IPv6 temporary address setting: net.inet6.ip6.use_tempaddr=1
    N.B., All user data and settings are transferred to MacBook Pro (A). I think the difference between these two MacBooks is about hardwares.
    *The problem*
    1. Connect the MacBook Pro (A) to AP+Router.
    2. Receive IPv6 router advertisement from the router. (router lifetime=1800, valid lifetime=2592000, preferred lifetime=604800)
    3. Assign both IPv6 EUI-64 address and temporary address.
    4. Receive IPv6 router advertisement from the router again, 70 sec after previous one.
    5. Both the EUI-64 and temporary addresses are removed, and then same EUI-64 address and _new_ temporary address are assigned.
    The problem here is that MacBook Pro (A) configures _new_ temporary address, or it removes old temporary address. This causes additional issues on TCP connections because TCP sessions become no longer available after the temporary address has changed.
    This problem is not experienced my old MacBook Pro (B); i.e., it keeps the temporary address even after receiving router advertisements.
    All the data and setting in MacBook Pro (A) are transferred from MacBook Pro (B).
    Therefore, I think the problem is due to hardwares.
    I prefer to use IPv6 because I'm in a networking group and also prefer to use temporary addresses.
    Do you experience same problem or any suggestions to me?
    If you need additional environment description, please ask me.
    Thank you in advance, and sorry for my poor English.
