Each time I open Firefox or click a link, it will freeze up
When I go to open Firefox or click a new link, it will freeze up and say (Not Responding) Which usually ends after about 30 seconds. The bigger problem is it does the same thing with my other programs only after I start Firefox.
I'm having a similar problem with 4.0Beta7: It gets stuck trying to load a page and I'm not able to close that page. I can only exit Firefox .

For the past few days, each time I open Firefox on my home computer, a popup message is briefly displayed: "Your browser's default search engine is not set to Yahoo! Search. Would you like to set it now? (Yes/No)". After perhaps 15 seconds at most, the popup disappears and my home page appears as normal. I have the Yahoo! Toolbar installed, and Yahoo! Search is the search engine there; however, the search box on the address bar (which allows me to select from several search engines) is normally set to Google. The search engine in the address bar hasn't actually been changed to Yahoo! Search without my consent yet -- I'm just annoyed at getting nagged to change search engines every time I open Firefox. How do I get the "nag" messages to shut up & leave me alone?
I would also note that this is only happening on my home computer (which runs Windows 7), not on my work computer (which runs Windows XP, and which I also normally use Firefox as my browser on, with the same Yahoo! Toolbar + Google search in the address bar setup).
I have run Threat Scans with Malwarebytes (paid version) and a Quick Scan with Avast! (free version), and neither has eliminated this "nag" message from Yahoo! Search. You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

I have always used the yahoo toolbar to store my bookmarks. I recently had my computer serviced for an network problem I was experiencing, and since its return to to I have found that I must install the yahoo toolbar each time I open firefox. The toolbar does not stay for subsequent sessions like it had in the past. Is there a setting or problem that may be causing this?

Each time I open firefox, it doesn't open to my previously set website (Yahoo). I have to reset the homepage each time I open firefox despite following the help menu method. I'm not able to locate a possible cause/solution on the help menu. pls advise
Please do the following.<br><br>
* In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
* In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
* Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=<br><br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "''Copy Link Location''" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
* Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
* Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
* Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
* Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br><br>

I need to know how to set the zoom option under "View" Tab, shere I dont have to re zoom each time I open Firefox. I have a wide screen monitor and generally, when viewing webpages, the web content on any page is confined to center of the page, and I was wondering if there was anyway to permanently set the zoom preferences without having to change them each time i open a webpage.
IE 8 and 9 has a feature to set the magnification and i set mine to 150% which works perfectly for me. I wonder if Firefox has a similar feature.TonyE
Thanks a lot. I downloaded the Default FullZoom Level add-on. My problem is now a history. thanks a million -

# Question
I can't stop the Firefox Start page from opening - in addition to my default page - each time I open FirefoxIs this the Firefox branded Google page? If it is, Firefox can store multiple home pages and you may have 2 home pages set. Follow the instructions to set a single home page in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
If it is the Firefox has just updated page that keeps on appearing, there may be a different problem, for details on fixing that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox -
For the last 2 days, each time I open Firefox, and each time I click a link, I get duplicates open pages of which ever thing I clicked. I have had no Windows updates in the last few days, so it cannot be that, as a cause.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available. -
Hi all, since upgrading to Firefox 25 each time I boot Firefox I see briefly the following in a small window whilst it is opening. "Reverted change ..... on general useragent override." What does this mean and if it is a problem how is it rectified? I see the same message on Windows 7 64 bit and 2 LInux Distros.
Thanks for any explanation. This message is probably coming from the User Agent Switcher extension that detects that you have a user agent override active as you can see in the System Details List.
*general.useragent.override: Mozilla/5.0 (masking-agent; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0

Every time I open Firefox, I get a pop-up asking me to install the Alexa Sparky toolbar--which I do not want. The pop-up box does not offer an option to say "no" or "do not ask me again", which is VERY annoying. How can I permanently stop the popup?

How to disable extensions, Personas, and plugins
Disabling an add-on will turn it off without removing it:
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions or Appearance or Plugins panel.
Select the add-on you wish to disable.
Click the Disable button.
Click Restart now if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
To re-enable the add-on, find it in the list of Add-ons and click Enable, then restart Firefox. -
Ghostery settings not saved, but must be reset each time I open Firefox.
For several weeks now I am obliged to reset all of the Ghostery settings every time I open Firefox 33.1.1. The Ghostery webpage pops up along with my homepage and all of my prior settings have been removed. The folks at Ghostery tell me the problem is at the Firefox end. Can anyone help resolve this?
With the help of a friend I had tried that and Malwarebytes still did not detect the threat. At that point I bailed and got my computer wiped and all new software installed. I read a review on AVG antivirus that praised it for
its' sensitivity but cautioned against "false positives" for that reason. I am beginning to wonder if it was not a false positive since it only came up when opening Firefox, but not in the full AVG scan.
By the way I imported book marks from Firefox into Internet explorer which had never shown that warning and it began to show the warning on opening. It has me puzzled to say the least but thanks for your suggestions. -
Firefox set up message appears each time i open firefox
Every time I open Firefox I get a message saying "You have chosen to open Firefox Setup 4.0.1exe which is a: binary file from: http://mozilla.cdn.leaseweb.com Would you like to save this file?"
I have tried saving it again, re-running the set up file, all to no avail I still get the message every time I open Firefox. How can I stop it?Thanks Bill. After a good nights rest I don't feel like I'm in as big of a fight with Adobe as I was yesterday. I was able to search through the search results with more patience and found these instructions:
Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Windows
My problem was solved after the first step. THANK YOU. Life is much more peaceful when the things that are supposed to work do. -

I used to be able to go directly to my start up page, now I get a message to allow firefox to make changes to my hard drive. How do I bypass this step?
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
