Please help me get rid of the following web page that appears each time I open the Firefox browser. It appears as a separate page behind the browser window, and each time I close it. Very annoying -- has my version of Firefox been hacked? I have run Norton complete scan, etc. -- no problem detected. You should never install software or a Firefox extension when a website asks you to do this as this is likely an effort to install malware.
You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Your System Details List shows the Default Tab 2.3.1 and the SafeSearch 2.1 extensions.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (on importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

Why does Firefox re-download a web page that has already appeared in my browser? VERY time-consuming! Chrome just saves from the cache!

Every time I go to save a web page or image, Firefox insists on re-downloading the page/image, which consumes a great deal of time. Chrome (and my other browsers) seem to save the item directly from the cache or memory, which is MUCH FASTER! Is there an option to make Firefox save more rapidly, ie directly from cache or memory, so I don't have to sit (and swear and fume) while the file is being RE-downloaded??

600+ MB does sound like a lot, but that depends on what you are using as your homepage, and how much of that 600 is being used by the plugin container - Flash and other plugins. Also, using that amount might have to do with how much RAM you have installed - the more RAM installed and the more Firefox allows itself to use. If you have AVG 2012 installed and the AVG Advsior is giving you that message, see this:

MSN Entertainment - .mp4 icons appear on my desktop every time I am using Firefox to view some web pages.

I have been using Firefox for many years now. Firefox 19.0 on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Lately when I open and view some web pages an Icon with 'MSN Entertainment -.mp4' appears. Some sessions leave as many as 15 to 20 of these Icons. I can not open them with any thing.
Did I do something wrong or what. I can't seem to find out the answer.

I bought the Page application. I download the new version in my Ipad. When i wish open a document in my Mac, if I have openned before in my Ipad, I can´t. I have download in my Mac the new version of the Lion´s mountain and the pages. In my Itunes appear the application of the pages " with pen".In my Mac some documents appear with the ink´s bottle and these I can´t open it. When I try, an annoucement appear saying me "You need the new version" of Pages, And like I say before in my I tunes of the Mac appear the new version of Pages( the pen) and an information saying me what I don´t have any new application to download.

If you want to use documents created by the iOS 7 version of Pages, with Pages on your Mac, then you must upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks and update Pages to the newest version that only runs on Mavericks.
The only alternative would be if Pages for iOS 7 allows you to export the document for Pages for Lion.

Unable to open any links. The entire web page appears greyed

Ever since I stayed at a hotel this weekend and tried to use their wifi, I have been unable to do any more than access a single web page at a time. The page appears grey, and the links and scrolling are not operative.
Does anyone have any ideas.

I suggest you go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. After resetting, you will probably need to reenter any WiFi passwords.

It seems like each time I get a Firefox update (the latest being 5.0), it disables the virus protection software. I'm currently using McAfee SiteAdvisor and Rapport, which program would you suggest using with Firefox for virus protection?

I'm using a Mac OSX platform for my computer system. Is there any reason why McAfee SiteAdvisor and Rapport virus protection software programs are not compatible with Firefox updates? What virus protection software is Mozilla suggesting to use with Firefox?

Commandline arguments to open private firefox window with toolbox (web console) open.

Hi there :)
I would like to launch FireFox 33.1 from Visual Studio 2013 with the commandline arguments that will:
1.) Open a private window (no cache/no history)
2.) Will have the toolbox open with the Console tab selected (Toolbox is normally opened with F12)
I tried launching with:
-private-window -> this worked fine, new private window opens up
but the console parameters do not work:
-console -> no console
-jsconsole -> a slimmed down popup
-inspector -> no console
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cor-el's suggestion resolved my problem. Apparently the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable was set to 1 on my system variables. I never made it, and really have no idea how it got there, but deleting this variable and restarting firefox has resolved the issue. Thanks Cor-el!

Solution: Verify the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable is NOT set to 1. This can be achieved by simply deleting this variable.

Since upgrading to Lion, Safari always opens to the last web page opened regardless of the preference settings.

Since the upgrade I cannot get Safari to open to the page selected in preferences. I also find that all previously opened windows reopen when Safari is reopened. How do I fix this?

Open General preferences and uncheck the option to "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."
Applications will resume after restarts. If you wish you can change that behavior:

If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

Why won't the full web page load on any browser?

My webpage won't load fully no matter what browser I use (safari, chrome). I tried downloading the latest Java and that still doesn't work. I've also played around with turning extensions on and off but still nothing.

Go step by step and test.
1. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.
    Turn on those one by one and test.
2. Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.

When a web page opens a link in a new window, the new page/window is always blank and all i can do is click on the x in the top right corner to get rid of the page

So while I'm reading my emails, I get a lot of Twitter notifications. I like to just click on the Twitter link & keep on reading mail until I get to the end. But sometimes the Twitter web page opens right over the top of my Mail page. It's not a big deal, but I get a lot of these, so over the course of time it's a big waste of time to keep moving the web pages over to keep reading my emails.

This is part of Lion's Resume feature (I assume you are on Lion).
A couple of things you can do: System Preferences>General and deselect 'Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps'.
Also when you shutdown or restart make sure the following is unticked:
