Each time I open Safari it opens the last web page I was at rather than my home page. How do I stop this from happening?

This is part of Lion's Resume feature (I assume you are on Lion).
A couple of things you can do: System Preferences>General and deselect 'Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps'.
Also when you shutdown or restart make sure the following is unticked:

But if iit won't stay open, then it's quitting unexpectedly which is the same as a crash.
There has to be a reason for that which a crash report should reveal.

IF you change the view of the left column to "Bookmarks" or "Favorites" this is what will be shown rather than "History".
There is no way to prevent this column from being shown but it can be dismissed by touching the "Book" icon at the top-left of the screen.

I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder. I use Thunderbird's Archive folders so that accumulated mails over several years can happily coexist because they are effectively stored in many small folders. No single mail store folder then exceeds the 2GB or 4GB sizes that have been known to stress the OS. On the device that you don't want the apps to be downloaded on, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads. Once you turn that off, your problem will be fixed.

This post has already been answered. Why are you plugging your own site with an answer that has already been given? Not to mention that the information you are handing out is incorrect. There is no bug, there is no patch, and no one needs to delete any email addresses. If it appears in the Dock, control-click it and uncheck Open at Login. Otherwise, open the Accounts pane of System Preferences and remove it as well as anything which may launch it from the list of login items for your user account.

Importing my video from my event library into my project library, it shows the full width of the clip, but on the viewing section, it's zoomed in and cut the sides of the video off. How do I stop this from happening?

In the project, double-click on the clip to open the Clip Inspector. In the Clip tab you will see an item about two thirds down labelled "Stabilization". If checked, uncheck the box "Smooth clip motion".
Stabilizing clips causes a zoomed in effect, with the extent of the zoom dependent upon how shaky the footage is. There is a slider beneath the check-box labelled "Maximum Zoom" - this can be draggged back and forth to adjust the zoom effect if desired, once the clip has been stabilized.
You may have chosen to analyze clips for stabilization when importing to iMovie (that's a choice provided by iMovie upon import). If so, it's best to turn off an option in iMovie's preferences. Go to this from the iMovie menu item iMovie>Preferences. Click on the Browser tab and deselect (uncheck) the box labelled "Automatically stabilize clips that have been analyzed".
I prefer to import clips without analyzing, as this speeds up the import process. Afterwards, in the Event you can check for any overly shaky clips, then analyze them in the Inspector. If necessary, once dropped into a Project, you can stabilize them as desired. You can also stabilize clips directly in the Project without having to first analyze them in the Event.

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

This is iMessages, not an SMS/MMS, and this means the same Apple ID is registered for iMessage on each iPhone.
You or your daughter need to activate your own Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime. The same Apple ID can continue to be shared for iTunes store downloads - for music and apps.
On the iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Select the Apple ID at the top and sign out. Sign in with the new Apple ID.
Make sure the same email address is not available below You can be reached by iMessage at on each iPhone.

Thanks, Barbara. I don't use a trackpad on my iMac, just a mouse. However, I DID discover yesterday that if I press COMMAND-T (the command to Free Transform an image) I can then move the image where I want in the window. I need to use the command every time I move the image, which is annoying--in Mavericks, that Free Transform command was somehow the default.
