Eagerly awaiting iPhone in UK

Ok so were getting the sexy sm art iPhone on the 9th of November here in the UK. WOOOO i cant wait.
Ive admired it from the time it was released and even contemplated buying one on the day of release as i was in NY at the time but im not inot all that hacking stuff.
So ive been studying the features and i have to say im really disappointed at basic features which are missing. While it wont put me off buying one really i do hope they are added in future updates.
Picture Messaging
3G connection
Video Recorder
Ability to assign an mp3 as a ringtone
to name just a few.
I know when i do get one i will probably find other missing features which were all used to on cheap to expensive phones.
Heres hoping for the future!!!

Keith,
don't expect 3G, the iPhone doesn't have the necessary hardware to support that, as to the other items on your wish-list ... well I wouldn't buy one if those were very important to me as we have no idea what Apple will release in future updates.

  • IPhone 5 Slow After iOS 8 Update

Just like many Apple users I was eagerly awaiting the newest software update from Apple's iOS. I've owned several Apple products in the past and every update has worked perfectly fine. I take care of my electronics and am very careful with my memory usage, so I am able to get the best performance and very little decay with usage. As most users know and expect, our beloved computers tend to "slow down" with time. Sadly this wasn't the case with iOS 8. I know that my iPhone is in optimal performance because due to some hardware issue Apple gave me a NEW PHONE a week before the new software update came out. My older iPhone 5 was working great and had almost no issues regarding software before I turned it in, once I got the new one everything ran just as fluid and even better! I was excited to download the new iOS. I was so careful I even updated my iOS through my Macbook because I didn't want to risk losing any of the precious memory on my portable device. Sadly ever since I downloaded iOS 8 and installed it onto my phone I have had nothing but issues. My phone is laggy and freezes with certain tasks. I have noticed a significant drop in performance ever since the update. This shocked me because Apple updates are usually pretty good. Apple computers know how to "take care" of themselves for the most part. That is why the updates were so important. I can't wait to get an update from Apple addressing all these performance issues, because quite frankly guys... your iOS 8 performs just like what one would expect from a BETA version. At least on the iPhone 5.
I have been an Apple fan for a while and have purchased Apple products because of their reliability. Not just because of the precious items and care that goes into each hardware, but because of the elements that makes Apple unique. You're UI used to leave me without a complaint. It always has been something to brag about and not only with my phone, but also with my Macbook. Each update had something better. It's innovative and simple, beautiful, and user friendly. Sadly this is the only time I've been let down by Apple. I wish I could go back to iOS 7, because clearly the new iOS is not ready... Hope you guys come out with an update soon.
I don't pretend to know everything about computers, but I do understand how most of them work. Also I know that with effort I could go back to iOS 7 on my phone, but in all honesty I don't want to because I'm not the type to go back once something "better" and newer is released. I expect more from Apple in the new future.
FYI I'm posting this mainly for Apple to take notice of my discontent and also as user feedback for them to keep improving and hopefully have some impact with future products that Apple comes out with.

Thanks for the quick response ,
it did help alot and now the iphone works much much better and faster.
can you please try to figure out how to fix the messages search so it work fine
its give me now result maximum up to 3 days old
    thanks friend

  • How can I run iTunes to manage my iPod music and still manage my iPhone / iPad?

Help!  I ditched iTunes 11 on my desktop PC a year ago or so, and reverted to 10.7, because of the crazy decision Apple made to remove "Composer" as a category, thereby making iTunes useless for anyone with a classical music collection.
That is painful, because 10.7 doesn't allow me to upgrade my iPhone Apps.  But at least I have my music...
However, last week I bought an iPad Air.  When I connected it to my iTunes 10.7 I was given short shrift.  IOS 7 will only talk to iTunes 11.
I hit on what I thought was an ingenious solution.  I loaded iTunes 11 onto my laptop PC.  I thought I would then be able to transfer my iPhone's affections (and apps) to the laptop, and then connect the iPad to the laptop too.  OK, so I had no option but to "upgrade" my iPhone to IOS 7.
So now I find that my desktop (iTunes 10.7) can talk to neither my iPhone nor my iPad.
My iPhone will connect to the laptop, but cannot establish any app linkage.  My iPad remains unused.
One of the things I used to love about Apple products was that everything just WORKED.  Please can someone suggest a way forward for me.  Has iTunes 11 been fixed to deal with Composers, so I can upgrade to it?  I can't copy my entire music database to my laptop because the disk is not big enough.  Solutions eagerly awaited!

Thanks for the reply, but I need a way forward.  Here are the options I can envisage and I would find it really helpful to have their feasibility commented on - or better options suggested.
    1) My ideal solution.  I sever my iPhone's connection to my desktop system so that I can run iTunes 11 on my laptop and sync iPhone and iPad to that.  Problem: I don't know how to sync the iPhone to the laptop.
    2) Upgrade my desktop to iTunes 11, completely destroying my classical music collection's backup on my 120GB iPod classic.  This is OK so long as I never need to reload the iPod.
    3) is there a way I can somehow freeze my iTunes 10.7 on my desktop and then upgrade to iTunes 11?  That would also be an ideal outcome, because I don't add new music to my iPod because it's full.
    Any suggestions warmly welcomed!

  • Positive for iphone 4

Well like most of u i was eagerly awaiting the iphone 4 and i have to say overall i'm pleased. I immediately bought a case at the time so never noticed the reception issue. Battery life is far longer then the 3GS, i've been using mine a fair amount for all sorts and the charge has so far lasted nearly 2 days and is still at 47%, pretty decent i'd say. Loving the new features, my only slight concern has been occasionally the screen doesn't seem responsive however i've realised that unlike the 3Gs, u have to touch it in exactly the rite place with a few things, however now that i know all is fine. So far one very happy customer

Well the "4" is not (to my mind) as sexy as the 3G/3Gs - it's certainly heavier!
Went online & registered, then updated & Synced..No Issues..(well just 1/had to activate & then Turn Off Airplane mode) Took awhile to set up to my own specs but certainly not difficult. Lots of buried settings, setting up WiFi & Car B/Tooth No Problems.
The battery does seem to go down a little more than my old 3G, but, I think that as it's new I am always picking it up & tinkering. Signal bars are more erratic but the calls still go through & are very clear. Screen is real sharp & the whole phone reacts faster to the finger touch..
I negotiated a free case with the AT&T store manager! so I don't have the "fingers touching antenna" issue..The free case is black silicon, and certainly takes away the Apple look" - some "cool" cases are coming on the market so I will probably wait awhile & get a designer" and a screen protector..Overall the "4" is OK...Wifey is happy with the 3G..
Our phones are "synced" ~ we are in the "cloud"......L

  • Extended network activation? iphone 5? in college no verizon service

in morgantown wv, there is many Verizon cell service. I just got my iphone 5 tried activated and doing so my iPhone 4 got deactivated now I'm without a phone. any tricks?

        Hello 2020word!
I know you're eagerly awaiting to use your new iPhone 5! When activating a 4G LTE phone you will actually need to be in direct Verizon Wireless coverage.
You can use this map: http://bit.ly/ymXLCI to find the closest direct coverage to you.  Once you have it activated you will be able to bring it back to school and use it though you may have limited data capabilities.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iphone 3gs now phone service (AT&T) constanly goes in and out and battery does not hold charge. Can someone help me?

It appears to be a bug in iOS5.  I have the same problem on the 3Gs and my new 4S.

  • IPhone Recognises All Wifi Networks Bar my Home Network

I have recently purchased a 32GB iPhone 4 (not 4S), and I have encountered the following problem: It will recognise most wifi networks promptly and without issue, but it does not recognise the one I use at home. Obviously this is a quite serious issue, as it is here that I will do most of my web browsing on my phone, and a stable wifi is needed to download apps. So without this I really have no recourse.
    The problem in more detail:
I have been doing some research and, although some people have similar issues, my problem is unique. First, my phone does not even list the network in the wifi tab under 'choose a network'; second, I cannot add it by inputting the information for the network manually (it says 'Could not find the network 'X'); and third, it is not the case that this is a 'new' problem. I got the phone three days ago and it has never been able to recognise my home network. Apple and my service provider give me no help as it connects to all other networks I have encountered thus far.
All of these points lead me to believe that it is a problem particularly with my Network. However, it is not a hardware issue. In my household I have two desktop iMacs (both new) connected to this network, my three year old laptop, and two iPads (one first and one second generation). I have never had a problem with recognising the network or connecting to it on any of these devices; only the iPhone.
    Additional information:
-This problem occured both under the operating system my phone came with (4. something) as well as the latest upgrade (5.0.1)
-The phone does have a 'Wi-Fi Address in system preferences
-The phone is indeed brand new
-The router I am using is a Cisco DPQ3925
-The channel width I am using is 20MHz
-I have my 'standard channel' set to 'Auto' (changing this makes me lose the network on all devices)
-The network is set to WPA2 Personal (not WEP, which seems to be causing some people problems)
-The SSID is indeed being broadcast
-This problem occurs regardless of how far I stand from the router
    Attempted Solutions
-I have done a full restore to no avail
-I have restarted network settings on my iphone many times
-I have tried resetting the router with no luck
-I have tried turning on/off cellular data several times
-I have tried turning on/off location services several times
As mentioned, I assume the problem has something to do with the iPhone recognising the network settings. Some have suggested interference with other devices. I unfortunately have little experience fiddling with router settings, so I'll need to be walked through if this is the issue.
I eagerly await any possible solutions you would offer, and I am quite grateful in advance. I must say that this problem is very vexing. I have had my previous Nokia 3210 for over 10 years, and was quite resistant to upgrading. I am a Mac fanatic, and always want the newest models of PCs, but I have long resisted updating my phone for fear of problems just like this one. Please prove my phone troglodytism wrong!

I have an iPhone 4 and I do not have trouble with my wi-fi. I thought I would take the time to look at my router settings and see if there is something that I could find that differs. I use a Linksys WRT160N router, so that is one difference to start with, but that shouldn't be that big of a deal. I am using WPA2 Personal for security with a channel width of 20 MHz. Is there a possibility that you have MAC filtering on that would be preventing your device from connecting? Have you checked the Cisco website to ensure you have the most current software for the router? Which network mode are you using, B, G, N, Mixed? Are you able to connect to any other wi-fi network anywhere, a public one like McDonald's, Starbucks, your work? This would explain whether the wi-fi is good or there is a hardware problem with the iPhone.

  • Cannot add calender events to my White iPhone 4S. HELP!?

It was a cold, rainy afternoon yesterday and I, like many others, was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new White iPhone 4S. Finally, the UPS man arrived and voila! Awesomeness ensued. But then, (duh duh DUH!!!!!) I discovered to my great surprise, that I could not add events to my iCal! I thought to myself, perhaps I'm simply stupid and I know not how to do such a thing, but after examining both my mother's and my sister's new Black iPhone 4Ss, I realized that my iCal lacked the all important "+" sign in the upper left corner.
And so I say to all you apple savants; please help me! Is this a bug, or am I merely one unfortunate soul who lacks the ability to add events?!
    Sincerely, MissSaintG

"had same problem. just figured it out. go to settings then Icloud then turn calendar on and go back and check it out now u should have the + sign back"
    Worked perfect, thanks
    Amanda

  • Iphone and Windows Vista problem

Okay, so I have windows vista and the iphone seems to be having a hard time with that.
When I plug my Iphone into my computer it recognizes the apple device and asks if I want to import picture. In itunes it shows the button that the Iphone is plugged in and synced, however, when I press that button nothing happens. I can't add any photos to it because everytime I try there is some kind of error. What can I do?

    Same exact problem!
Upon returning home after picking up the long awaited iPhone 2, I discovered that my iTunes and/or Windows Vista would not detect the iPhone, and I’ve been searching the Internet for a solution since (going on day two now). Apparently, Vista and the latest iTunes have had this problem quite a lot.
It’s really a shame, as I think Apple is missing a singular opportunity to use the iPhone as a transition drug to more Apple products. I for one have been looking for a reason to dump my Dell and pick up a MacBook Pro, and the iPhone seemed to be it.
However, if I get caught in the middle of a ******* match between Apple and Microsoft, well, they both lose.
When you spend this kind of money, it is imperative that the thing works out-of-the-box. I will never purchase a Dell again for just this reason. Now, if I purchase a Lada, well, I'm expecting to put in some hours and blood to get the thing air born, but an Apple product? No way.
Please help me become an Apple customer.

  • Palm Desktop to iPhone???

Hi Everyone! Complete NEWBIE here. Just bought my long awaited iPhone and love it. However, I have a problem. Anyone know how to get my iPhone to sync with my Palm Desktop software w/o using Outlook? I work for the County and they provide me Outlook for work. We have to sign an agreement not to use that for anything other than work related issues. I have been using a Palm Treo 650 and Palm Desktop software for my contacts and scheduling for my private business for years now. I am looking for solutions. Thanks in advance for any help. BTW, the iPhone rocks!!!

Do you have a personal computer? If so, just install Outlook on it. There are several companies that offer software that will sync Palm Desktop with Outlook. Or change your syncing from your Palm to Outlook. Switchsync is a desktop tool that will switch syncing your Palm between Palm Desktop and Outlook.

  • FTTC Box in on the road, awaiting availability...

    Hi there.
I've been eagerly awaiting Infinity for months now... My horrible 3.5 meg connection is driving me insane, since I download so many game off of Steam and the like.
I think the FTTC box began to be installed in early October last year, and I often saw people working on the box. However, for the last 4-5 weeks, I've seen next to no activity at any point on the box (I can't be certain) and I really want to know when I'm likely to get the new connection :/
I don't really know what I'm waiting for, pretty damned sure I should be on the box, it's next to the box around... 100 meters down the road which I swear I'm connected to. There are no other boxes for a fair while.
I've seen 2 open reach vans at multiple locations throughout where I live (Chelmsford) and I have no idea what they've been doing... They just seem to sit there in the vans.
I live on Galleywood Road and I'd love to know if anyone can enlighten me about when I might expect the connection to finally arrive...
    Thanks
    - Ross

I'll have a listen tomorrow, see if I can hear anything, but I don't think I can. Is on a main road, so it may be harder to hear. I certainly haven't heard any others before without trying.
Pretty sure that is my PCP box next to it, looks akin to the one on the right in this picture:

I know of some other boxes and I'll listen in to those to see if I can hear what I'm looking for, if they've even been enabled, which I'd hope since they are so much closer to town and have been there for ages, that they are.
    Thanks!

The one on the left is the Infinity one.
You want one of these in close proximity to your old cabinet(normally within 50metres).

  • My MacBook pro screen is broken (awaiting part for repair) can I transfer keynotes pres onto iPad air? Without a home screen to navigate?

I am eagerly awaiting the correct parts to repair my MacBook pro screen (my husband dropped it). I have an iPad air but for some reason iCloud has only stored a very old copy of a keynotes presentation I need? Anyway to transfer with being able to see MacBook screen to guide me?
    Cheers

You misunderstand the memory management scheme and misinterpret the display you're seeing.
To start with, free memory is wasted memory. Once some disk contents have been brought in, it is wasteful to discard that data just to make the RAM that it occupied "free." Inactive memory is memory that is not currently used, can be given to an application that needs it without doing any disk I/O (or used as a destination for reading disk content) but which currently holds disk data that might be useful in the future. I.e., it's file content of some sort.
To get a better idea of how Mac OS X manages RAM and how to interpret the Activity Monitory dispaly, see this tech note: Mac OS X: Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor.
Rosetta is indeed memory hungry, but it's an interim solution. With 2 GB of RAM installed, you can run a lot of applications with alacrity.
Lastly, your Safari, an Intel-native application, is currently using 2 GB. This is a known issue with Safari, though it seems to me that it has gotten better since 2.0.3 was released in 10.4.6. Still, it's a bit of a memory hog, to be sure. Now that Firefox, Camino and Seamonkey are all available in Universal (Intel native) forms, you have alternatives. Firefox seems a lot more parsimonious when it comes to RAM.

  • Iphone serial number starts with DX5K

    Hi All :
My much awaited iphone 4 (new) starts with DX5K - does that mean its a refurbished one?  eventhough it doesnt start with 5K, it has a 5K in it. so confused here
    Any help would be appreciated

I'm in agreement with Lawrence. Serials are randomised, i have a job where i see a lot of technology including iPhones and iPads. I have seen serials beginning with most letters of the alphabet.

  • IPhone coming to Ireland 14th March !!!

Can't believe the wait is finally over, the long awaited iPhone is coming to Ireland on the 15th March...!!! Apple are partnering with O2 like they did in the UK

I've been checking out O2.ie for news on the iPhone and I'm kinda shocked at the tariff.
I live in "Northern" Ireland only 20 mins drive from the "Republic" and I use the iPhone on the O2 UK network, whereas O2 IRL is classed as a separate network and international roaming charges are usually applied.
I'll take the tariff I use as an example:
In NI it's £35 per month
In ROI it will be €45 per month (roughly the same in £stg)
The UK tariff at the start was 300 texts, 400 mins and unlimited internet.
It has now been upgraded to 500 texts and 600 mins, which is great!
Yet the tariff that O2 IRL are offering seems to fall way short of its UK equivalent in that it will only be 100 texts, 175 mins and 1GB download limit. It will also cost to access voicemail and the "visual" voicemail will not even be supported!
I hope they upgrade the tariff after 4 months like they did on O2 UK. I will actually be moving to the South come September, and at that time my contract with the iPhone won't have expired, but when it does I'm really considering not getting the IRL version as this tariff really *****!
I wonder whether or not I will be able to take my current iPhone handset with me and, if the tariffs ever do get better, be able to change the SIM card and sign a new contract without having to purchase a new handset which is set to be €400!
In the meantime I'm wondering whether or not I can get the "Ireland Bolt-On" offered by both O2 UK and O2 IRL which abolishes roaming charges between the two.

  • I Ordered 4 iPhone 6 64GB's.

1 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Space Grey. Due to the Gold 64GB's being in stock, will Verizon ship the gold one now and the rest of my order later? I ordered them on 11/12 and have a ship date of 11/21.

I completely understand your eagerness holychitmeng. iPhones ship according to model, date, and time the order was placed. Please check http://bit.ly/RjmCUB for any updates as the date 11/21 is an estimated date.
