EAR file and properties file
Hello,
I am wondering if an application (java classes for instance) can read a .properties file inside the ear package, when the application is deployed ?
(only reading of course)
Thank you
I'd recommend using ClassLoader.getResourceAsStream to access the properties file.
This means the file needs to be in the resource path of your classloader. In WLS, an easy way to do this is to have it in the APP-INF/classes directory of your EAR file.

Hi all,
I have a jar file packaged as com.company.java located in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext. It will read a properties file when it is initialized. As I know, properties file needed to put under $CLASS_PATH. So I put it under $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext also. However, the JAR file failed to load the properties file.
Below is a part that in JAR file for getting properties file.
ResourceBundle rb = ResourceBundle.getBundle("abc",Locale.getDefault());
s=rb.getString("key1");
} catch (MissingResourceException e) {
s=null;
e.printStackTrace();
Do I put the properties file in wrong location?
Where do I put it to make it work?
Rgds,
unplugby default you have 3 class loaders that load classes as well as read resources:
The bootstrap classloader (for the core classes)
The extension class loader (finds anything in any .JAR placed in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ [which is the home directory for "extension modules"])
And the system class loader (looks along the classpath, finds files inside JARs [listed in the classpath] and in normal subdirectory structures [of base directories listed in the classpath] that mirror the hierarchy of Java packages)
Any of these is supposed to consult the previous loader on the above list first, and try a lookup on its own only if the previous loaders did not find a class.
ResourceBundle.getBundle(String, Locale) uses the classloader of its caller to look for the properties. If your method calling getBundle() was called from another method inside your extension module it will first consult the extension classloader (which first consults the bootstrap classloader) and will not be able to use the system classloader. So you can place anything in the classpath but it won't help. And the extension class loader can only look into JARs, not plain package directories.
If the getBundle() method were called directly from the application code, however, it will use the system class loader to locate the properties file.
There is a method ResourceBundle.getBundle(String, Locale, ClassLoader) where you can pass in e.g. the system class loader if you know how to get it, so this might help. The application code would determine its own class loader and pass it to the method of your your extension module.
But I am not sure that you should place the properties file in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ since this is intended for Java extensions rather than normal user code, it normally does not show up on the classpath. Also, if you place it along the classpath, you have to pass in the classloader to be used since your code was loaded by the extension classloader and has no immediate knowledge of the system classloader.
But perhaps it would be wiser to load your resource bundle reader in the system classloader, like any other application code: Remember that classes loaded by the extension classloader have higher security privileges than normal application code (the security policy file that you can edit refers to application code!) and it is questionable whether a resource bundle reader needs that privileges. If it does not, you might just place it in the classpath rather than the extension directory. Then it is quite natural that a properties file will also be found on the classpath. -

How to Add JAR files and Config files to CLASSPATH at runtime?
QUERY:
During runtime, I need to load the JAR files and relevant config files( .cfg files and .properties file) into CLASSPATH and run a specific java program from one of the JAR which is available in CLASSPATH.
Please advise me any relevant Java API details or a sample java program to implement the above use case.

You don't add to YOUR classpath once your app is launched.
You create a NEW process for the app you want to run and provide the proper environment for it to run in - including any PATH or CLASSPATH environment variables.
The Java API for the ProcessBuilder class has a simple example that shows how to create the arguments and launch an external application.
ProcessBuilder (Java Platform SE 7 )
There are also PLENTY of other examples of using ProcessBuilder; just search the net. -
Are JDev autogenerated paths needed to create ear, war and jar files ?
Hi
We want to create ear, war and jar files from Ant build script generated from JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.
We also like to use ojdeploy with it.
In the process of creating build.xml files from projects, we see these paths.
We also have standalone Weblogic installed with ADF runtime 11.1.1.7
Questions:
1- Do we need these path ids to generate ear, jar, war files properly and then deploy the ear to our standalone Weblogic so that our webapp can run ok ?
2- Why are they generated, if they are not needed
From research, it appears that we don't need these paths except to keep ant targets of init, compile, exec etc with ojdeploy.
3- Is that true ?
We are afraid that because no paths are listed in the build.xml, then when we deploy the ear app, it cant use the ADF runtime on the standalone WLS.
Thanks in advance for answering.
Sincerely
eg of paths generated below:
<path id="library.SOA.Designtime"/>
<path id="library.SOA.Runtime"/>
<path id="library.BPEL.Runtime"/>
<path id="library.Mediator.Runtime"/>

</path>
<path id="library.Oracle.Rules"/>
<path id="classpath">

<path refid="library.SOA.Runtime"/>
<path refid="library.BPEL.Runtime"/>
<path refid="library.Mediator.Runtime"/>
<path refid="library.MDS.Runtime"/>
<path refid="library.BC4J.Service.Runtime"/>
<path refid="library.TopLink"/>
<path refid="library.Oracle.Rules"/>
</path>There are two different things here. Using ant to build the class files and then building an ear from the class files and other resources.
The building part needs the libraries if you use javac as compiler. Building an ear file only needs the path to the jar files which are packed into the ear.
In this sense you need the pages you see in the build.xml.
Then Jdev offers another way: ojdeploy. This tool is a Jdev without a gui.
You can use this tool and build the classes for each project of a workspace and to build build war and ear file. This is just like you click the rebuild button for each project and then the deploy the projects and application. If you use this approach you don't need the generated path ids as the whole build process is done inside Jdev as it's done on your developer pc.

Modified Paths:
flex/sdk/branches/3.0.x/build.xmlHi,
First up thanks for helping out, I really appreciate it.
Is there a way to change that or should I simply add the file to the Classpath?
The config file at present sits in c:\Temp\ESFGFL\servicelayer\config\maysqlconfig.properties with the code in the servicelayer directory.
My classpath is set as .;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\javamail-1.4.2\mail.jar
What do I need to change here? Ultimately te code will be on a servera nd so will the config file but learning some lessons by testing locally is proving invaluable.
Thanks again for your help

When opening a sealed file, are the Autosave-File and Temp-Files encrypted?
Hi, when opening / editing a sealed file (e.g. a MS Word document), are the Autosave-File and Temp-Files encrypted?
Hello,
Yes they are. If they weren't, it would be relatively easy to leak an unsealed version of the file. In older versions of the Desktop IRM opened all files in browser, so theIRM Desktop had to encrypt and copy around these files manually. Nowadays, the IRM Desktop is embedded in the Office applications themselves so we leave the temporary file creation to the application but manage the encryption depending on the nature of the file. So the autosave and temp files (where content may reside) are encrypted, but the lock file (which is only for ownership, not content) is not encrypted for example.
In fact, the autosave/temp files which are encrypted are actually treated as sealed files, so they contain all the metadata fields you would expect. For example, open a sealed document in Word and set the autosave to every minute and make some changes. wait a minute and you'll see the autosave file (which is a .asd) update automatically (the default location is C:\Documents and Settings\<youruserid>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\). Make a copy of the file and close Word. If you open the file and Select a Program from a List and choose Word you'll see the file open as a sealed document. If you rename the extension to .sdoc or .sdocx (depending on what the original file was), then you can right click Properties and see the metadata is there too.
Nicely secure.

How to run .class file and .jar file in jdev9i
I want to run .class file and .jar file in jdev9i,what should I do?
Also,I want to generate .class file and .jar file in jdev9i,what should i do?Add the .class file containing the public static void main(...) method to the project by clicking on the + toolbar button in the navigator, open the project properties and properly set the additional classpath then right click on the .class in the navigator and say run. It should work, I've just tried it.
Doesn't work for a .jar yet, in JDeveloper 9.0.3 it works both for .class and .jar

How can i make shorten systemlog files and joblog files on OS
Hello
How can i make shorten systemlog files and joblog files on OSHello Jan,
You can limit the size of system log.
The size of the application server's System Log is determined by the
following SAP profile parameters. Once the current System Log reaches
the maximum file size, it gets moved to the old_file and and a new
System Log file gets created. The number of past days messages in the
System Log depends on the amount/activity of System Log messages and the
max file size. Once messages get rolled off the current and old files,
they are no longer retrievable.
rslg/local/file /usr/sap/<SID>/D*/log/SLOG<SYSNO>
rslg/local/old_file /usr/sap/<SID>/D*/log/SLOGO<SYSNO>
rslg/max_diskspace/local 1000000
rslg/central/file /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/SLOGJ
rslg/central/old_file /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/SLOGJO
rslg/max_diskspace/central
Refer to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/c7/69bcbaf36611d3a6510000e835363f/content.htm
for explanation of profile parameters.you can reduce the size of system log using rslg/max_diskspace_local and rslg/max_diskspace_central
But you can't reduce the size of job log files on OS

Generation of .ecs file and .xsd file
Hi,
I am working on the Acme-GlobalChips tutorial Query using File 1.0 protocol.
I have few question on that.
While creating the Business actions and Trading partner IN B2B we use two 850.ecs and 850.xsd.Can these be used for all the trading partners or they are partner specific.If not then do we develop it using Document Editor.
Moreover if after we create the .ecs using the tool can we generate the .xsd file using same tool.
I have this doubt because I used the .ecs file provide with the tutorial and used EDI file provide by some other partner it worked.I mean I was able to generate the EDI-Xml as payload in reports section of B2B.
Can some help me on this.
Regards
LalitHi Lalit,
1. Yes. Different Trading partners can use the same Business action. However, you can also override the .ecs file and .xsd file as per your requirement.
2. We can also generate .xsd files using the Document editor.

I have a validation lab that uses Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on several completely different systems. I am looking for an easy way for the techs to PXE boot from a 2012 Server, select the OS to install and have the OS installed with drivers so when they come back
to the system it has the OS installed with no Bangs in Device Manager.
I have done this in the past (7-8 years ago) and it was fairly easy. Now from what I read it appears I have to create "Image" files for each system type? I hope I am misreading this because that method is counter-productive to create 10 different
images for 10 different systems.
I thought I used WDS and AIK on a 2K3 Server but I don't remember.
Is there a method/tool to install the operating systems as I described above using original OS ISOs, unattended answer files and driver files? WDS or SCCM? AM I misreading how it works?Consider using newer Windows ADK

Table files and Index files 2GB on Windows 2003 Server SP2 32-bit
I'm new to Oracle and I've ran into the problem where my Table files and Index files are > 2GB. I have an Oracle instance running version 10.2.0.3.0. I have a number of tables file and index files that have a current files size of 1.99GB. My Oracle crashes about three times a week because of a "Write Fault/Failure. I've detemined that the RDBM is trying to write a index or table files > 2GB. When this occurs it crashes.
I've been reading the Oracle knowledge base that it suggest that there is a fix or release of Oracle 10g to resolve this problem. However, I've been unable to locate any fix or release to address my issue. Does such a fix or release exist? How do I address this issue? I'm from the world of MS SQL and IBM DB2 and we don't have this issue. I am running and NTFS files system. Could this be issue be related to an Windows Fix?
Surely Oracle can handel databases > 2GB.
Thanks in advance for any help.After reading your response it appears that my real problem has to do with checking pointing. I've included below a copy of the error message:

Printing messages in Log File and Output File using Dbms_output.put_line
Hi,
I have a requirement of printing messages in log file and output file using dbms_output.put_line instead of fnd_file.put_line API.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
I tried using a function to print messages and calling that function in my main package where ever there is fnd_file.put_line. But this approach is not required by the business.
So let me know how I can achieve this functionality.
Regards
SandyWhat is the requirement that doesn't allow you using fnd_file.put_line?
Please see the following links.
