the crash is back, but more info is available this time.
Here are my current settings:
-Fast writes are off
-Spread spectrum is disabled
-mem voltage 2.65
-AGP voltage 1.65
-Catalyst 4.6 drivers
-AGP aperture 128
Here's where it gets a bit interesting. My CDROM drive died, so I had to replace it via RMA. While the drive was removed, the system was stable and experienced none of the aforementioned crashes. Just reinstalled the new drive and voila, they're back. Ok, this points to a bit too much draw on the PSU perhaps, but shouldnt the ENERMAX 465 be able to handle it?? I mean come on, 33A on the 12V rail should be enough for the system as well as a USB toaster or hairdryer???!!
Should I try raising the AGP / Mem voltage a bit more?? When should I worry about frying my components? As usual, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, BTW, the system temperature / CPU temperature are steady at 33 and 39, respectively, even under load. Max system temp was 38C, CPU 42C.

It looks like I’m having the same problem. After about 30 minutes, the screen goes black and I heard noise. When I run a game, switch back to the desktop and run the game in the background, there is no problem. (Edit: when I switch back after 1 hours, the screen goes black after 1 minute)
The problems started when I installed (Before I installed this I had no problem):
* New PSU (Antec Truepower)
* Audigy 2 ZS
* 1x 512MB module. (total 1,5GB)
The 512MB extra RAM didn’t work (memory problems), so it’s not installed now.
Things I’ve tried so far:
* Replaced the RAM modules --> didn’t solved the problem
* Run memtest for 8 hours and no problems found
* Replaced my new PSU with the old PSU (Aopen 350W) --> didn’t solve the problem
* Replaced the Asus radeon 9800XT with Club-3d 9500pro --> didn’t solve the problem
* Uninstalled creative drivers, removed the audigy and used on-board sound --> didn’t solve the problem.
* Tried several bios setting (DDR333/ manual voltage setting/AGP setting)
* Uninstalled latest Ati driver 4.6 (manually cleared registry) and installed directx, Via V4.51 and Ati driver 4.2 --> didn’t solve the problem
* After I read the thread, disconnect the CD-Rom but it also didn’t solve the problem.
Current setting:
AGP fast write: disable
AGP speed: 4x
Spread spectrum: disable
AC’97 audio: disable
Serial port: disable
Parallel port: disable
1394 controller : disable
mem voltage : 2.6V
ATI drivers : 4.2
AGP aperture : 256
Temperature is not a problem, already checked that.
I hope this information helps to locate the problem.

I am experiencing the ear piercing crash during gaming only. Going along fine and suddenly-- nails down the chalkboard courtesy of the speakers, and a total system hang, remedied only by the reset button. Not even necessarily in heavy "combat" situations, happens just sometimes when booting the game (Call of Duty). Here's what I've tried.
-Dumped the "new" ATI drivers and went with the latest Omega's
-Got new PSU
-Graphics card is only device attached to the respective PSU line
-Reinstalled VIA 4 in 1's, DirectX and drivers, respectively
-Turned off AGP fast writes
-Turned off spread spectrum
-BIOS 1.6
-Banged head into desk, repeatedly.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully it's not time to RMA the card.

Not really sure why this works, as I have run memtest & prime95 etc etc for extended periods of time with no problems. MAybe the extra draw of the graphics card during gaming affects the RAM voltage???--shouldnt with a decent PSU. So hopefully, this will continue to fix the problem, or fry my RAM...whichever.

I think you may find, in most of these cases, it is a heat build up, as the heat builds even by only a few degrees, the PSUs output falls dramatically, that I think is why raising the volts often helps, I raise both AGP and DDR.

I followed this 9-Step in the knowledge base (better, but with vol at 60% , it starts up):
Windows 7
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and Sound
Click Sound
Click Recording tab
Highlight the Internal Microphone
Click Properties
Click Listen tab
Uncheck Listen to this device
Click OK
Pls, what else can I tweak to get rid of feedback .

Restoring the iPhone will reload its firmware.
Plug the iPhone into (the current version of) iTunes on your computer.
Let it sync. Then choose "Restore" from the iPhone's summary page in iTunes.

I figured it out!
I read a solution for something that sounded similar.
Anyone in similar position:
Open iTunes app on iPhone, and pick an option from bottom, such as music. Then scroll down to bottom of page and where your iTunes ID is, press on it, and pick sign out.
Then return to home screen, and double press home button and press and hold on first icon showing, until a minus symbol appears in the top left of icons present. Press on each minus symbol on each app in turn, until all app icons have disappeared. Then Restart the phone by pressing and hold the home button and the on/off/standby button at top of phone, until the apple symbol appears in centre of blank screen.
Swipe to turn phone fully on and open settings and scroll down to iTunes and apps option and tap that. Pick sign in and put in your apple ID, it will accept it and then return to home screen and open iTunes a you'll find it works fine
Simple really, but some like me won't think f this themselves!

FCP crashes when i take clips offline

Using FCP 5.1.2 and AfterEffects 6
At first it would happen when i was trying to replace a clip created in AfterEffects. i'd need to make an adjustment or whatever and rather than making a new clip, i named it the same as the clip already online in FCP and told AfterEffects to replace it. When i tab back to FCP, i'd get the spinning beachball of death and FCP would stop responding.
Deciding to change my tactics, i decided i would take the clip offline in FCP FIRST and avoid the whole missing media thing. Well, when i asked FCP to take the clip offline (deleting of the disk), it got stuck in the making a video preview loop, with the bar at 100%, but never stopping. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong here (or at least the main thing i'm doing wrong)?

I was just walked through a repair procedure by an Apple Care person, and it fixed my camera recognition problems (I have a Canon XL1 and sometime after installing Tiger, then 10.4.1, various patches (including Quicktime 7.1) and the latest Desktop Video patch, I've been unable to use the camera with Final Cut Express, and attempts to capture would result in a FCE crash).
The workaround is to download Quicktime manually, after removing the "receipts" which indicate that it is loaded. Specifically, I was told to do the following:
1. Navigate to Library -> Receipts on your main drive (not from your personal folder).
2. Remove all files of the form QuickTime*.pkg, where "*" is a version number. E.g. QuickTime600.pkg, QuickTime650.pkg, Quicktime700.pkg and QuickTime701.pkg. This simply tells your system that those packages are not installed.
3. Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/downloads and click on the "download Quicktime" link. DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE UTILITY. Download QuickTimeInstallerX.dmg. Double click this file (probably on your desktop) and then invoke the installer by double clicking QuickTime701.pkg.
4. After your computer reboots, you should be able to restart FCP and see your camera.

All apps that take pictures crash when I take a picture. Is this a known bug?

I have multiple apps that can take a picture, and when I take pictures from within the apps, they crash. It is all the picture taking apps (except the onboard camera app). So, Twitter, Bank of the West, and Contact Snapper.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm sure someone in the world, among the millions and millions with an iPhone might have the problem you're describing. How does that help you, knowing this?
Basic troubleshooting steps right out of the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Try each step in order until the problem is solved.

Palm TX works only if power chord is plugged in, crashes if i take the power chord out

I brought a new Palm TX in 2008. I never used it because I was busy with work and it was never used. I recently found it when cleaning my storage. I tried to charge it for 2 days continious. As soon as I take the power chord out, Palm TX crashes. It comes back up again only if I connect it to power supply. Does not work all by itself.

[Serious BUG] Youtube crashes to death; fresh Windows 7 install; firefox and plugins updated; plugin-container.exe disabled; noway

This happens to me and to two friends of mine. So it's hardly a coincidence.
I have done a fresh Windows 7 install (for other reasons) so I thought this problem (which I had since about version 8.0) would disappear. I was wrong.
Firefox and plugins are updated:
Firefox 13.0
Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300
GPU video drivers are also updated.
I came across the "plugin-container.exe solution" but it didn't solve the problem.
How to reproduce the bug.
Visit Youtube and click on some video. Minimize Firefox. Wait some seconds. Next time you restore the window Firefox crashes, you have to kill plugin-container.exe from the task manager OR you have to restart the entire browser in case you've disabled the plugin container.
The same bug should occur when having various tabs open and one of them is Youtube with a video playing. But also when Firefox has no focus and you have other windows on top of it (and a Flash video running or even paused).
Since this does happen:
-with a fresh install;
-with everything updated;
-even disabling the plugin controller;
it seems very very strange to me that this problem is STILL present since version 8.0 (or even before) and that there is so few reports of this bug around the internet.
I'm not complaining here, I'm just showing my perplexity about almost noone having this bug which is ruining my (and my friends') Firefox experience since the past years.
My purpose here is:
* to let you know about this problem;
* to know if other are experiencing it;
* hopefully to keep giving support to this thread and answer to your questions about this bug so to help this thing being fixed;

Why does Firefox crashes and support takes me around and around in circles

Firefox won't open and I get the crash reporter instead. I used to have firefox and was re downloading it, but now it just crashes when I try to open it. Online support does nothing but run me around in circles!!!!

My iPhone let out an ear-piercing siren-like alarm?

It was about 6:30 in the morning at this point. I had no alarms set, and none of my push notifications would ever do this. But out of nowhere my phone let out this piercingly loud sound
The only way I can describe the sound is this: y'know how whenever you're listening to the radio or tv and the emergency alert service interrupts what you're listening to (either to do a test or warn you of hazardous weather) and it goes "beeeeep.....beeeeep....beeeeep....beep...beep...beep" and then you hear a high pitched "EEEERRRRR" sound?
Well, it sounded just like that high-pitched sound. And it sounded off in second long beeps (whereas a regular alarm sounds almost twice every second). And my phone vibrated even though I had it on do not disturb mode. There was some a text alert on my screen, and it filled the entire screen, but I was so tired and so freaked out by the sudden noise that I just unlocked my phone to the home screen to get the noise to stop
I know it wasn't an Amber alert because when I get one of those, it sounds off as a regular tri-tone alert and has a tiny amount of alert text
Does anyone know what this could have been? My iPhone is a 4s on the latest update

My AT&T iPhone 5 just woke me up with an amber alert. Although I didn't figure what it was until the second one came in. What am I supposed to do, jump out of bed and join the manhunt???

You've tried deleting it and re-downloading and tried contacting the developer ?
If you have and you've had any response then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history to contact iTunes Support (we are fellow users here on these forums) : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that app and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

the link on the portfolio.html page is clicked - how can I
load this other
HTML page (captaindans.html) inside the one frame on that
page? The same
would go with other links that will open the demovwr.html -
how would I get
blah.html to load when another link is clicked?
There's got to be a static way to accomplish this, no?
