Earbuds Sound Like You're in a Tunnel?

I have several employees who bought iphones and the earbuds are unusable especially for important phone calls. You can hear the other person alright but they say you sound like you're in a windy tunnel or on a motor cycle when you're in a silent room!
Does anybody else have this issue?
Is this enough for an earbud replacement or are they all bad?
Normal calls are average, speakerphone calls are poor and earbud calls are horrible.

Yes, I had this exact issue. Earbuds were UNUSABLE for calls - everyone says that you are in a "windy tunnel" like you said, and they can not hear anything.
I took the phone in and was given new earbuds -- Problem fixed. Still not the best sounding conversation according to others I am talking too, but definitely usable, and people can actually hear me.
Hope this helps.

  • How do I adjust sound quality in itunes - sounds like the chipmonks in a tunnel

I'm trying to listen to songs I purchased on itunes from my iPad/iPhone on my everyday PC - Compaq.  Never had a problem before!  Now all my music sounds like it's in a tunnel and Alvin of the Chipmonks is the lead singer in Alice in Chains !!  HELP I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING !!  Thank you

You seem to be asking two separate questions here.
    1) Interfaces
Interfaces start at around $30 and go into the thousands depoending on what you want to do, You need to define your needs first, then your budget
    Some example interfaces:
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#interfaces
    2) How do I Mix and Master
You'll need to read some books if you have no idea how to mix and/or Master.
Mixing is making everythnig sound good together, and I have no idea how I could explain that other than to say "you change the levels of each track and add effects as desired, until you get thesound you want.
Mastering is even harder to define, you'll really need to do some research (even online. There is PLENTY of info on the web).

That's because there is no supported way to downgrade the iOS. Further, discussion of such is prohibited here, by this forum's terms of use.
You'll have to go elsewhere if you want to go down this route.

  • When using Apple earphones, the phone sounds like I'm in a tunnel.

I just got a new iPhone 4 and when I use the Apple earphones while talking on the phone, it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. This never happened with my 3GS. This doesn't happen when I am listening to music. Then it sounds fine. Any ideas on what is causing this?

  • Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now.

Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now. I am currently running 1.3.0.20 and I have enough to do with also needing to upgrade my wlc to 7.4.121.0 and getting the MSE up to 7.4.121.0 without having to stand up a new server if I don't have to. Please share any information you have in regards to your experience with coming from a version 1.2-1.3 small ovf and going to 2.1.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

You are better off standing up a new server.  It's cleaner and safer..... you can always try to upgrade if you wish, but if things don't work out well, then you just wasted a lot of time.  Snapshot the VM and export the floor plans, just in case.  The ova is built around the DB size, so I don't know how well the DB will perform if you try to expand memory or drive space after an upgrade.

  • Nano sounds terrible, music sounds like it's in a tunnel!

I loaded my entire I-Tunes library on my new nano, but the music sounds like it is in a tunnel. I have tried 4 different pairs of headphones and completely wiped it out and RE-loaded the library again, with the same results. I tried to change the EQ option, but nothing has helped. Any suggestions or should I go back to the Apple store to get a new one?

had the same problem...seems alot of people are...the headphones may appear to be all the way in but they aren't. i shoved them in and they work fine now

  • My voicemail greeting sounds like I'm in a tunnel

My husband left me a message and said the greeting sounded like I was in an echo chamber. Any tips? Do you speak directly into the mic at the bottom?

  • Mic is too sensitive, calls constantly cut out. People tell me y loud, and it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. Any background noise, and call is completely cutting out. This occurs all the time, but more so using earphones with in cord mic.

I have iphone5 ios6 and the Mic is too sensitive, and calls constantly cut in and  out. People tell me there is loud background noise and it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. Any background noise, and call completely cuts in and out and sounds as if call is dropping. This occurs all the time, but more noticeable while using earphones with in cord mic. I never had this problem with my old iphone4. Has anyone experienced this, and is there a setting that can correct this problem?

Same problem for me.  So bad in fact that I can't really use my headphones for calls.  I have tried it with several sets of headphones.  My primary are the Bang and Olufsen headphones which were great with the previous iphone 4 and 3.
    Apple please address this issue.

  • I sound like I'm in a tunnel when speaking on iPhone? I've had my phone a few months. The problem started suddenly.

I soundl like I'm in a tunnel when speaking on iphone people say. I've had my Verizon iphone 4s since February and problem started 2d ago. I synced, turned off bluetooth, restarted, recharged. Any suggestions?

Have you by any chance covered the little hole at the top of the phone or is there any dirt in it?

  • Caller sounds like they are in a tunnel when receiving or making a call.  When using earphones I can hear great.

When placing or receiving a call with new iphone 5 using the earpiece on the phone, the person on the other end sounds very low, like in a tunnel.  Volume is as high as it will go.  Earbuds work great but I can't always use them, I need to be able to do a NORMAL call without earbuds.

Update - made an appointment at Genius bar today (chadstone, Victoria, Australia).
Genius examined phone, replicated the issue and identified a malfunctioning main microphone. He noted that the reason I could still talk to the other party when I activated the 'speakerphone' function is that the speakerphone has a (second) noise cancelling microphone/speaker at the top of the handset. He replaced the phone under warranty, and offered to help me to set up the new phone. In and out in less than 15 minutes, with new phone operational.
Very knowledgable, very polite and just great service.. Thank you Apple team at Chadstone.

  • Sounds like talking in a tunnel

We have just rolled out Lync Enterprise - and about 50 Polycom VVX 500 and 400 series phones. All the Polycom phones when using the headset sound like you are talking in a tunnel, even outside calls. This is how most people explain it. We also have a couple
of HP and Snom phones and they seem ok. Is there some type of audio setting I can change? Make more treble or something? When testing I thought maybe this was the difference between Digital and Analog, but now I am not sure. Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks,
    Baze

    Hi,
Please try to reset Polycom VVX 500 and 400 series phones and then configure again to test the issue.
Here is the link to reset the device:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398077(v=ocs.14).aspx
If the issue persists, please update to the latest version of firmware for Polycom VVX 500 and 400 series phones and then test again.

hi, i'm having trouble with the sound quality on some cd's that i copy to windows 7 or itunes, it kinda comes out all crackly & sounds like there's interferance, the cd's themselves are playing on other appliances & sound ok.

i do, but like i said it fell once and since then it hasn't been able to connect to my laptop. it acts like nothing's connected. i believe if i call the company the HDD is from they'll be able to transfer it to a new one but who knows how much they'd charge. looks like i have no choice now.
If it were truly a backup, then the media would play on the laptop as it would be on the laptop.
Sounds like you actually do not have a backup, instead you chose to keep your media on an external drive.
Regardless of where the media is stored, it's always a good idea to have a backup for instances like this.

  • Relatively new to Logic Pro.  When I'm trying to punch/record into a track, I can't hear the previous existing track until I'm recording.  But, it plays back fine.  I'd just like to hear before the punch in.  Help? Sounds like a preference thing.

    Logic Pro 9

It sounds like you may have toggled the input monitoring - there's a little button with an 'I' on it on the track header which toggles monitoring between what's been recorded and the actual input on your sound card. If it isn't there, right (or cntrl) click and choose 'Configure Track Header' - you can add it in the selections that appear there.

  • Random 3-tone bell sound like in an airplane cabin

Just got a new iMac today, and every 5-20 minutes it randomly makes a 3 tone bell sound, like you would hear in an airplane cabin or something. It's not coming from any webpages I'm on. What's causing this noise?

    Hi Matt
That should not be happing, three tones normally indicates a problem with the RAM.
You might run the Apple Hardware Test to test the RAM, but to be honest I would take it back.
