Early 2011 macbookPro RAM capacity

I'm considering upgrading the memory of my 13' MacbookPro. It's an early 2011 model with a 2.7GHz i7 processer, MacbookPro model 8,1.
The manuel and apple support says it's only compatible up to 8GB, but other websites say it's compatible up to 16.
Naturally that confuses me.
On a related note, the Apple store sells the 8GB upgrade for $200 but most other outlets sell it for under $100. Is the price differential due to an actual quality difference?

16 GBa is the unofficial maximum.
Price differences are simply related to the fact that Apple guarantees the RAM and installation. Third-party RAM is only protected by the manufacturer's warranty. You install it yourself. If you screw it up Apple won't fix it under your warranty.

I see an impressive collection of LaunchAgents, Launch Daemons, Internet Plugins and drivers for who knows what. At this point I would like to suggest a completely clean install of your system (after making a complete backup of course).
At the very least uninstall the Kaspersky software completely, and the same with what remains of the terrible CleanMyMac software.

My early 2011 Macbookpro fan is extreamly loud, running at 94C

I have a early Macbookpro and it gets really hot and the fan is extreamly loud. My specs are below
I7 2.3ghz
8gb ram 1333mhz
1gb ati card
256gb SSD
HI rez glossy screen
Lion osx and windows 7 in bootcamp

According to Apple, this is "normal." If you're playing an extreme game that requires a lot of CPU or watching flash videos, your MBP will get very hot.
What do you want us to solve?

Macbook Pro Early 2011 13" RAM Issues

Hello everyone,
About a month ago I realized that my computer was running extremely slow. After further inspection, I found out that somehow 1 of the 2 RAM sticks had come loose. I'm not quite sure how because I have never dropped my Macbook. Anyways, after getting this fixed at the computer store at my university, I realized that everything was working fine. However, today I noticed that there is another issue. As you can tell by the attached picture, it says that there is 4 GB of RAM installed even though it says that one of the slots is empty... I'm not quite sure what to do about this besides taking it to the Apple Store, but I would definitely prefer to not have to do this since my warranty has expired. I've been planning on upgrading to 8 or 16 GB of RAM, so if there's no other fix to this problem then I may have to go ahead and do the upgrade sooner than I thought.
If anyone has seen this before and knows a solution that would be great! Thanks!

I would run the Apple hardware test (use the extended test) to see if it identifies any hardware issue.

MacBookpro Early 2011 graphic issue won't boot

Hello,
My Early 2011 MacBookPro suddenly suffered from graphics issues for a few days then it won't boot at all.
The hardware test says it is ok and my hard drive too. But when I want to boot, the apple appears and the dong too, but then blank screen. It is the same with a bootcamp boot, but with a blue screen with lines all over the screen. The recovery partition doesn't start either. But I can access boot from my hard drive with another Mac on target mode.
Anyway Apple doesn't admit there's a problem a want me to pay the reparation, because they don't report it as a real problem, saying that I damaged the computer. But there are threads here and all over the internet, and they don't want to do anything.
On the phone, the apple guy told me that I had to pay 80$ to see if there is any problem , and " maybe if we see there's a fabrication problem, we'll fix it for free ". Do I have to trust them ? What can I do to ?

How to Connect Early 2011 MBP 13" to Apple 20" Cinema Display at 1680x1050?

My early 2011 MacBookPro will only display 1280x800 on an external Apple 20" Cinema Display. The MBP's specs say that it will support dual displays and video mirroring simultaneously at full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560x1600 on an external display. The 20" Cinema Display specs indicates that it supports an optimum resolution of 1680x1050. The 20" display is connected to the MBP through it's Thunderbolt port using an Apple Mini Display Port to DVI connector. No luck.
I've tried using the latest version of SwitchResX set to 1680x1050. It says it is configured to 1680x1050 but the display does not respond.
Anyone had success setting up this combination of MPB and Cinema Display at the max resolution of 1680x1050?

To clarify. The MacBook Pro displays 1280x800 and the Apple Cinema Display mirrors it at 1280x800. I cannot get the ACD to display at it's max capable resolution of 1680x1050.
The MPB has 16GB ram so 512 SDRAM is available to the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset.

by 1333 Mhz / 1600 Mhz i meant 1333 Mhz or 1600 MHz. i have access to another early 2011 which i had my friend try a 1600 Mhz 16GB RAM it worked flawlessly with a lot of torque and no heating i might add,...... on my mac with corsair 1333GHz DDR3 16GB i have 11000+ points on geekbenchmark test compared to 9000- previously..... Now i have up to 6.5 hours of battery life with safari browsing which i never had and the mac does not get hot like it used to.
i decided to go for 1600Mhz only after checking the specs and compatibility matrix on the intel website itself for my proessor (and all of macbookpro's 8,2) which is Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz) if it is a 2.2 GHz. except on late 2011 2.2 GHz with Intel® Core™ i7-2675QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz) .... 1600 MHz DDR3 is not compatible.
so on late 2011......2.2GHz you cannot upgrade to a 1600 MHz DDR3

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and am looking to upgrade my ram. I notice one Apple's website the maximum recommended amount to upgrade is only 8 Gb. Is it possible to upgrade to a higher amount without affecting my MacBook?

Not negatively. Apple didn't test it with the higher capacity modules before releasing it and didn't update its specifications afterwards.

Macbook Pro 13 Early 2011 (8.1 , i7 2.7 , 4GB Ram) FREEZEING HELP PLEASE !

My macbook pro keeps freezing . PLEASE READ and HELP if you can !
The Problem started before 6 months and still no fix or any clue why it happens
i mostly using my mac to play music with program called Traktor
first time it happened it was after updating to Os X Lion (all versions have this issue 10.7.**)
(only used leopard for 5 days then i bought Lion)
then updating to Os X Mountain Lion currently 10.8.2 still freezeing
i called apple support they told me its a software issue and gave me some advices
fixed permission , deleted startup items , updated traktor to latest version , updated all drivers and mac to latest still problem
clean install leopard then lion still problem
resseting SMC still problem
updating to Mountain Lion still problem
i also run apple hardware test all pass
the cpu temperatures are around 65c to 70c when it happens
hard disk has 220 GB free of 500 GB
(also sometimes it doesnt boot its stuck on apple logo but its moving after i close it and open again from the switch
it opens , the first time it was after updating to Mountain Lion)
any help whould be very appreciated !!!!

First go to the RIM web site and look to see if they have an uninstaller for the device you had. Some times a reinstall of the application and then running the uninstaller is required for complete removal.
If no uninstaller is available, then you will have to use Spotlight to find all items with 'Blackberry' and 'Rim' in the titles. I would also download EasyFind and use that to locate such files. Often it will locate items that Spotlight misses.

I installed Windows 7 on my early 2011 stock Macbook pro 13" and it cut my RAM in half it syas i only have 2GB when i have 4GB. The version of windows is 7 Ultimate 32 bit

More details-
i Burned the ISO to a DVD and installed it like that, then after the installation i installed all the latest drivers that i downloaded before the HDD partition. the windows partion is 50 GB which seems subsantial as i will only be using it for school programs that arent for mac. (this is off topic but some how without installing anything i have only 20GB of the windows partion left. dont know how this happend). this is all on my early 2011 Macbook pro 13" everything in it is stock, it came shipped with 4gb of RAM and a great Intel I5 dual core 2.3 GHZ with the Intell HD 3000 348MB video.

32-bit Windows has an address space of 4GB. Part of that is used by system BIOSes and graphics memory. With my Mac Book which has a 1Gb graphics card you only get about 2.6-2.8GB of the RAM which would be addressable and usable.
