Early and Late curve in P6

Hello,
I am trying to get early and late curvers along with current % complete in P6 similar to what it was in P3. Does anyone have an idea on how to get that.
Thanks

  • Early and late binding workflows in ICC based color management

    Hi all!
I'm a graphic design student at Reading Uni in the UK, and I'm writing my BA dissertation on early and late binding workflows in ICC based color management for print production. I'm intending to write to a graphic designer audience from a designer's point of view. Please do comment here if you have anything to say on this topic, or you can point me to the right direction. I'm also looking for studios where I could conduct my case studies who employ early, medium or late binding workflows.
    Thank you.

Will your paper have a title like  "Color Management is Fun and Easy" or "The Fiasco of Color Management"?
Notice that in the past week you and I are the only posts on this forum! This is the Color Management forum on Adobe's website. Shouldn't it be really busy?
It appears, that even after nearly ten years  I can't remember when color management first began to appear in prepress software), the industry has not embraced color management.
The promise of color management since I can remember was  that we could make color documents and not need to know how they would be printed. In other words a late binding workflow; that latest possible, just before making the plates or screens or engravings, etc. After forty hours of reading on the net and testing I am almost positive this is impossible if Illustrator is in the workflow.
Illustrator documents must be either RGB or CMYK not both. So if there are any colors that need to be preserved as CMYK (like 100 K black) you must work in CMYK meaning a mid binding color management workflow. The only thing I can think of is to find, or make, the widest gamut CMYK profile so that the fewest colors are hacked off.
But really how can this all be so messed up? What good reason could Adobe have for doing this? (I can think of several but they all contridict themselves.)
I preped some files the other day that were going to a printer I wasn't familiar with; one of the premium houses here in my area. I called them and asked how they wanted the files sent to them. I was hoping they had profiles for me or would spec some kind of PDF/x document that they would handle. No they wanted the source files and when I asked do you want the images in RGB then said, "No." So I asked which profile did they want me to use to convert to CMYK and the answer was, "What do you mean?" I said which CMYK do you want? The answer was, "The one everybody uses." I used SWOP and sighed.
IF I'M WRONG I would love to hear about it.
    Good luck

  • Are dual 2.0 early and late 2005 mobos interchangeable?

So,my early2005 g5 mobo crapped out and now hunting a replacement from ebay.
are the early and late 2005 mobos interchangeable or is there problems with components and
    general layout?
    Cheers!

The motherboards are quite different. The first major difference is that the Late 2005 models use PCI Express slots, whereas the early 2005 models used PCI-X (PCI Extended) slots for expansion, and an AGP slot for the graphics card. So, no cards are interchangeable between the two.
Also, the layout of the motherboard is different. The Late 2005 models have dual ethernet ports, and the Airport/Bluetooth Antenna is a long strip down the back. Point is, the ports on the Late 2005 model won't line up with the ports on an Early 2005 case.

  • DVR starts and ends early and late

When viewing my recorded shows on the DVR most all start about a minute early and end about a minute before showends.  Please tell me this can be corrected...

The DVR is programmed to start one minute EARLY and stop two minutes after the scheduled time.  This is called 'soft padding'.  As far as the ending early, the networks will run a popular show late so that people ‘hang around’ and miss the start of other programs.  This is called "bridging".
Early starts are how the DVR works.  If you are concerned with missing the end of a show because of this bridging, you could add the time at the end under "record options".

  • Early and Late Versions of hardware

For various reasons Apple will refer to our mac products as 'early 200x', 'late 200x' etc. I don't find anything in the hardware/software profiles that would tip me off to early/late/whatever. Assuming I found a date of mfr somewhere on the device (hopefully without removing the battery or something like that) does 'early=before July 1 and late=after June 30??
    Or what?
    Thanks

Apple may release a Mac model version more than once a year.
In such instances, the serial number or the model number is usually a good means of determining when it was released.
The serial number though may be removed if the logicboard is replaced on the model. Then it becomes somewhat more difficult to determine what the age of the machine is.
Do not disclose your serial number on Apple Discussions. There is a small chance it might be used to pilfer information about your computer's warranty and other personal information gathered about you that you wouldn't want to have gathered that you have supplied to Apple.
That said, you can use the serial number to determine the age of the computer.
It consists of three elements in its first five characters.
The first two are an alphanumeric code for the manufacturing site.
The 3rd is the last digit of the year of manufacture.
The 4th and 5th are the week of manufacture.
Use a spreadsheet, putting the 1/1/year at the beginning of the first cell,
while each row adding to the previous will have that first cell+7.
The row number will give you the week number in that year.

  • What's the difference between the Time Capsule early and late 2009 models?

I compared the specs of the [Time Capsule early 2009 model|http://support.apple.com/kb/SP508] to the one currently posted at http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/specs.html, which at the time of this posting is the late 2009 model. The only difference I can see is that the former comes with 500GB or 1TB and the latter comes with 1 or 2TB hard disk capacity.
However, the recent firmware upgrade, *Time Capsule (Simultaneous Dual-Band II) 7.5.1*, was supposed to address issues with the 5GHz connection speed. This is currently only for the late 2009 models. So it seems that there are some hardware differences between the two models.
The latest firmware for the early 2009 model is *Time Capsule (Simultaneous Dual-Band) 7.4.2*
I'm not having any issues with my early 2009 model, but just wondering what I might be missing out on

The most noticeable change in the Late 2009 model is an internal antenna change, which Apple claims will produce about a 20-25% increase in signal penetration. With this came a change in the main chipset, which is why the Late 2009 requires a different firmware version than the Early 2009 version.

  • Clicking sound originating from Airport Express firmware 7.5.2 and later

    Hello,
I have submitted a bug report through Apple Developer Connection (I am a registered developer). By posting this here I want to get support for our case: Make Apple fix the Airport Express firmware.
    Summary:
The Airport Express device has a bug which appeared first in version 7.5.2. It produces a "clicking" sound when using AirPlay to transport music from an iPhone or a Mac, when certain frequencies are being played. This is not depending on the attached amplifier or headphones, digital or analog output, network settings (network created by Airport Express or not), Mac or iPhone used, audio cable or power supply involved or due to bad quality of the sound file played. The problems are not there when audio is played directly from a Mac or an iPhone through headphones or optical out. We and my colleagues (developers and audophiles) have ruled out all the other options. The problem boils down to a change in the Airports firmware starting with 7.5.2. In 7.4.2 the clicking sound is not there.
    Steps to Reproduce:
Play the following song via AirPlay on an Airport Express device having firmware 7.5.2 or higher. The Airport Express being used in our tests is the model produced from March 2008 – June 2012. Attach high fidelity headphones (like Bowers & Wilkins P5, which we used) to Airport Express. Alternatively use a very good amplifier/loundspeaker setup. We also reproduced the bug for example on an Onkyo A-9070 amplifier with both optical and analog connection - there is no difference there. The loudspeakers we used are passive Dynaudio X12.
Play track no. 6 from the "Songs without words" album: http://itunes.apple.com/de/album/lieder-ohne-worte-op.-67-no.-2/id209380163?i=20 9381206
Listen to this solo piano piece carefully for at least 40 seconds. You will notice a clicking sound with high frequencies. This clicking is *not* there in firmwares 7.4.2 and earlier.
    Expected Results:
Perfect audio quality as in firmware 7.4.2 and earlier.
    Actual Results:
Reproducible clicking sounds in high frequencies.
    Regression:
This problem appeared first in Airport Express firmware 7.5.2 and has not been fixed yet. It can also be observed in the current version of Apple TV (as of September 16th).
    Notes:
This issue, while not being recognized by the casual listener, makes AirPlay unusable for critical listening - at least when using any firmware after 7.4.2. I would love to use the current firmware (which produces a much more stable connection), but I (and other audiophile AIrplay users) would love to see this issue fixed first.
Here is a thread that concludes - as we did - that Airport firmware 7.5.2 and later is the source of the problem. It is not the hardware, neither Apple's, nor the connected devices:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17296916#17296916
    Hope this helps!
    Best,
    Gabriel

I'm having the exact same problem. As a classical music lover, this is driving me nuts. It's especially noticable in soft passages in the music, when the volume is turned up high. When the dynamics increase, the little pops/clicks appear (they sound a bit like static noise, as someone stated earlier in this thread). It happens at irregular intervals. When you play pop music, the clicks will disappear (drown) in the music. But for true audiophiles who listen mainly to jazz and classical music this is a severe problem.
I have checked everything and it's definitely an airplay issue. My apple lossless files are 100% okay and play without any problem, except when streamed via airplay. Also, it makes no difference whether you use the analogue or the optical ouptut from the airport express.
I've created a sine frequency sweep myself in Adobe Audition, from 20 Hz up to 20000 Hz with a duration of 25 seconds and a level of -6 dB.
When played through airplay, the clicks always start to appear after 4 seconds in the sweep, only to disappear at 23 seconds.
The clicks manifest themselves at different volume levels. To my ears, they make the same sound as when you change the volume in iTunes when streaming music through airplay. Only when you set the volume in iTunes extremely low, the clicks will disappear.
Apple engineers should use a frequency sweep to recreate the problem, as this is very revealing.
PS: file format isn't an issue here. I've converted the Apple Lossless file to MP3, and it makes no difference at all.

  • Subscription terminated early and then I repurchas...

I am haing multiple Skye problems that all started with a billing error to which I got no response. What happened is I called Australia one day and at teh end of the call Skye told me my subsciption had expired which is odd because my subscription is NOrth America only and it should have lasted well into next year. I placed a North American call and sure enough it would't go through. So then I buy a North American subscription and tthe website tells me I have two! Are these concurrent and if so how do I undo this. The other problem which cropped up immediately is that when I dial out the caller ID shows as 011-0000-0123456 even though I have a SKype number in good standing. Now here is a real strange part, Sometimes when I dial out on Skype to my cellphone it shows my Skype number 360-xxx-yyyy for one ring and then switches to another call on 011-0000-0123456. And there is yet another problem. Sometimes (most fo the time) when I call into my Skype number it rings 4 times and then rather than go to voice mail it gives a busy signal. I posted on the account issue but got no response. This is the problem with Skype. If it works great but when it doesn't tyou just through money away,

I have a strong working knowledge of telecomm and here is what I think is happening. Call setup is I believe an atomic transaction. That is nothing can happen until that state can complete so here goes. When I place a call Skype looks up my account(s). It finds my aread code 360 account first and places a call. This process can not be interrupted. The call is placed and now the other acount is returned. Skype places a second call but cannot us the first caller "ID" because it is in process so it places a second call on a made up caller ID which I see as 011-0000-0123456. What I see on my cell phone is a call coming in from 360 area code and then seconds later a second call from 011-0000-0123456. That seems to make sense although it is completely wrong.
On incoming calls Skype starts placing a call to 360 area code. While the call is in the setup state Skype tries to place a second call on the second subscription but cant use the same inward DID because it is busy hence the busy signal. What I get when I dial in is 1-4 rings (usually 4) and then a busy exactly as above.
I may be wrong but this seems to explain the call problems and dual account problem that all started at the same time. To fix this Skype would need to remove the dual subscription and then add the second on as consecutive.  There are two Skype bugs. One is that it expired my subscription early and two it is an impossible state to have two unlimited North America plans on the same account. This should not have been allowed to happen. Note that even on a landline or call phone the same call processing applies although it will never occur in practise because you cannnot place two phone calls from one number to the same number  at the same time. You cannot have two inward calls on the same physical line or cell phone to the same DID at the same time.
Maybe a VOIP expert or Skype can respond.

  • Possible to script palette menus Save and Load Curves?

Is it possible to script CS4 Photoshop's palette menus? Specifically, the "Save Curves Preset ..." and "Load Curves Preset" ... of the Adjustments Palette.
I have 600 images, some of which have layer>new adjustment layer>curves applied.
I want to save the curves using the image name. Later, I want to be able to load the appropriate curve.
E.g., for image001.tif, the curve would be image001.acv
(I already have a loop set up to iterate through the files and get the file names.)

    Thank you.
I got both scripts working without JS or AS errors, but, when trying to load .acv files generated by the second script, CS4 Photoshop gave an error:
"Could not load the curves because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop"
(The loading script works fine when loading .acv files created directly from Photoshop.)
The only change I made to your Save Curves code was:
FROM: var myACV = new File('~/desktop/myCurve.acv')
    TO: var myACV = new File(file);
and made the code a function:
    saveCurves(file)
    YOUR CODE HERE
so that I could incorporate it into the Applescript.
Maybe that was naive (I'm not very knowledgeable about JS).
Here are the scripts I'm using:

  • USRLIBS in Mtx 7.18 and later

I have a System Build model with User Code Blocks, with c-code using a couples of .lib-files. In MATRIXx 7.16 and earlier one could link them via 'USRLIBS = "c:\mylibfile.lib"' in makeucb.mk, but which way am I supposed to do this in Mtx 7.18 and later?
I have tried some ways, e.g. 'simucb = simlib(), simucb.library = "c:\mylibfile.lib", _simlibs.simucb = simucb' and modifying the xml-file, but I have not succeeded (yet).
    Thanks in advance for help!
    Andreas

When I first upgraded (we never went live with the previous version), I was told the file was fine as is. However, after some research, I found what I think may be the answer to your problem. The jinit html file that calls jinitiator has a bad clsid parameter, which does not allow the browser to recognize the fact that the application has previously been installed. The correct setting is :
    clsid:020f6116-407b-11d3-a3bb-00c04fa32518
    really hope this helps.

Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro? Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?

Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro?
Yes, if you are asking about using Time Machine to backup the Mac.
Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?
You are not thinking of deleting the photos and files on your Mac, are you?  If you do this, you will have no backups for those files.
Another concern is that Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point, Time Machine will automatically delete the photos and files from the Time Capsule.....you just don't know when this might occur.
In other words, only delete files from your Mac that you can afford to lose.

  • Slow MacMini after upgrading to Maverick and later Yosemite.

    Gents,
I have had nothing than trouble with my MacMini (late 2009) since i installed Maverick and I hoped some things would improve with Yosemite. That did not happen. 1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Why do I have time machine disk problem after closing and later reopening clamshell.

I consistently see the following after closing and later reopening my Macbook Pro (5,1). I have to unplug and replug my Time Machine USB drive.
The only thing new is Mountain Lion. The Time Machine disk has 229 GB free of 1.5 TB. I never had to unplug this drive under Lion.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I ran disc repair on Time Machine Drive yesterday, but it found nothing.
    Here is what I see:
(Window 1)The disk was not properly ejected. if possiblem always eject .....
(Window 2)The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

I don't think you quite understand how Time Machine really works. But then hardly anyone does. Time Machine is intended to be left enabled always whether a backup drive is connected or not. What Time Machine cannot handle properly is a situation where the backup drive loses power for whatever reason. Time Machine treats this, as does the OS, as an improper disconnect of an external drive without being properly ejected. This in turn throws Time Machine a little bit of a loop.
For you I would suggest not using Time Machine. Instead use a third-party backup utility that you can either schedule or run manually as you wish. They will work with the same drive you have used for Time Machine, but you will need to first erase the Time Machine drive using Disk Utility. Please DO NOT try dragging the Time Machine backups to the Trash.
Here are some good backup utilities you can try:
    Suggested Backup Software
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Others may be found at MacUpdate. Each one can be used for a trial period. No need to pay for one until you've decided on which one you like best. I, for example, use Carbon Copy Cloner but please don't take that as a recommendation over the others. It's just my preference. All can be operated manually or can be set up to backup on a schedule you determine. Some can even be set up to backup as soon as the backup drive is connected.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.

  • I was trying to sync my 120GB iPod Classic earlier and it said it couldn't sync as the iPod disk could not be "read" or "written to". I now can't get anything onto my iPod, and I was wondering if it is a hard drive problem? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Did you go into iTunes to change the location of your media files? if not you will need to go into iTunes and click on preference and select the advance tab then click the iTunes Media folder location.  Select the location of your on external hard drive.
