Early upgrade for secondary line

I was hoping maybe somebody could shed some light on a few questions I have about the whole "early upgrade" deal
For starters, I am a secondary line on a family share plan with 4 other people. I am the only one who has (and will be getting) a smartphone. Will I be able to upgrade to the Droid X  early even if I'm the only person out of 5 who gets a smartphone?
Also, I am listed as an "Account Manager" in the "My Verizon." Will the holder of the primary line need to be at the Verizon store to sign the new contract, or does my "account manager" status make me eligible to sign the new agreement?
Lastly, could the holder of the primary line wait until September (when all of us are actually due for an upgrade) to upgrade his phone and still be able to use his NE2 credit?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi.  I understand that you have questions regarding upgrading your phone and I can certainly help you from here.   In order to check to see if you have an early upgrade available, you can check the primary number on the account to see if it is eligible.  Only the primary number gets an early upgrade.  You can always order the phone on that number when they are eligible because when you receive the phone, you can activate it on the line you want.  You can check to see their upgrade eligibility by going to the "Shop" tab within your account, go to "Wireless" and click on the "Upgrade to new phone" option to check the dates for all of your lines.
If you are registered as an account manager online, you can login your account to order the phone, the account holder does not need to go to the store to sign a contract.   If you are classified as an Account Manager, that does make you eligible to upgrade phones on the account.
Yes, if one of your lines are eligible for an upgrade, you do not need to upgrade now.  You can wait and still get your discount.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

  • Early Upgrade for Fascinate Owners

Since so many of us are having difficulty with our fascinate phones, and some of Verizon users have been able to exchange their phone for another phone, you would hope Verizon would at least provide the current fascinate users with a one time option of an early upgrade for those who are ineligible at this time for an upgrade. What Say you Verizon!!!!!

Based on the issues that Fascinate users are experiencing, it looks like there could be a common cause.  Dropped/not received calls, slow network performance, lost network connectivity and poor battery life could all be linked back to the radio/antenna.  I have also seen threads stating that the antenna in the Fascinate is of a poor design.  If this can be proven, then there might be a legal recourse for the Fascinate owners.
Turn off 3G data and the phone's battery life improves dramatically.  Turn on Wifi, connect to an AP and again, the battery life improves dramatically.  Stand next to another Verizon Wireless user with another manufacture's phone and the notice the difference in cell strength between the two phones.  The Fascinate usually will have less or no "Bars".
If this can be attributed to a "design flaw", then it should fall under electronics lemon laws.

  • Early upgrade for broken phone?

Hello--I have an iPhone 5 that is due for an upgrade on 12/13. Neither of the exterior buttons (the top power button and the home button) work anymore, and therefore I cannot turn on/light up my phone without plugging it in to a charger, and I can never turn it off. Recently, I started getting frequent messages about an "Invalid SIM," where I can't make any calls, send texts, use internet, etc. without turning it off and restarting it. The problem is, I can't turn my phone off, so I just have to wait for the power to run out. I am a graduate student living on my own far away from family, and I don't have a land line, so my phone is my only source of communication, so it really worries me that I often can't use it. Will Verizon ever allow an early upgrade (1.5 months) for a phone that truly just doesn't work any more? If so, how do I go about this? Thank you so much for your help!

Unless they start a new promo the answer is no. If you're having SIM issues get a new one.

  • Early upgrade for device?

So, I've been finding some contradictory information on this subject and I figured this would be a good place to ask. First, my story:
I've got a Samsung GalNex, and it's due for an upgrade June 3rd. Normally, this would be fine and dandy, but I'm actually leaving the country for two months on June 4th. Thus, if there's any problem with the new phone I will have zero time to fix it. I'm a bit gunshy of just rolling the dice because I've been suffering from the reception issues that apparently have plagued some GalNex adopters, and I'd rather not just rush in to another phone without that 14 day grace period on my side.
If there's any way I could upgrade early, that would be a tremendous help; Verizon has done right by me in the past, and I'm hoping they'll do so again. I'd really like to take care of this sooner rather than later; I've got a lot to deal with in the immediate lead up to the trip, and I'd rather not spend my last week in the States (during which I also have to work) running around trying to get this sorted out.
    Thanks!

I can definitely understand where you are coming from with all of this, Enki. While we do not have early upgrades, we can see if there are any available options or promos that may help out. I have sent you a Follow request. Please accept it, and send me a DM so I may assist!

  • Stories about early upgrades for the Droid Bionic.

    Hello,
I have been searching for stories about the Bionic for a while, and I have seen a couple pop up that say Verizon is offering early upgrades to *SOME* customers.
    http://www.gizmocrunch.com/mobile/8185--verizon-iphone-5-htc-vigor-nexus-prime-motorola-droid-bionic
I have been a customer of Verizon for a little less than two years. I am still using the OG Droid, and it is starting to bogg down quite a bit and freeze/crash randomly, so getting a new phone is one of the top things on my list.  My upgrade discount is up on 10/25/11, but seeing that the Droid Bionic is going to come out Sept 8th (little more than a week), and seeing that Verizon is offering early upgrades to certain people, I was wondering who exactly GETS these early discounts. Reading the articles apparantly Verizon sent emails out to some people, but I haven't gotten anything about it.
So are these articles correct? If so, who exactly CAN get the discount? And will I be able to get the phone when it comes out?

This promotion, although recently released, doesn't necessarily pertain to the Droid Bionic alone. Verizon sent out thousands of e-mails to customers that have never owned a smart phone before and fit various other criteria. The promotion allows you to upgrade from a basic phone to a smart phone early if you wish to do so. The promotion also entitles the customer to a $100 rebate in the form of a Visa gift card if they mail in their old basic phone as well. Hope this helps.

  • O2 not doing early upgrade for 3GS like they did the 3G

Bit of a shame. Not surprised given the prices. Very expensive

Given the mediocre mega pixel hike (well scrape might be more accurate) and of course your compass! very handy these days :o) is the price worth an early upgrade?
I'll see out my 3G contract and then look at the competition. There are other offerings out there that do more than iPhone as far as feature set goes (ok they don't have the app store, but get an iPod Touch and use that instead of the iPhone and get a more feature rich mobile with say an 8 or 10 mega pixel camera and Bang and Olufsen sound for example - think Samsung Beat).
Might be cheaper to think about the 3G S Pay As You Go option and using that handset on your existing contract. Then you will qualify for a very nice reward this time next year as you will be out of contract

  • Early upgrade for employee plan???

My sister works for Verizon and I am on her employee plan.  Is there ANY way for me to upgrade phones early?  She said we don't qualify for the early upgrades promo that Verizon is running, but I'm wondering if there is some other option for me...

No,if you are on an employee acct exceptions are not made.  U guys should be able to upgrade every 10 months though.  U had your phone that long?

  • Anyway to turn off voicemail envelope for secondary line appearance?

Has there been an update to this issue yet? Ive noticed in a couple of other older threads that this "feature" cannot be turned off.

OK, here is how I would set it up:  Saw you have one extension on 3 phones, extension 1000, for example. You take 1000 off all three phones and you give each phone a unique DN, say 1001, 1002, and 1003.  You can even modify the line labels so they still appear as 1000.  Then you setup 1000 as a hunt group pilot, setup with broadcast hunting and 1001, 1002, and 1003 as members.  And the RONA goes to voicemail box 1000, which has 1001 (and 1002 and 1003, if you want them to be able to retreive VM even through they get no notification) as an alternate extension.  And 1001 is listed as the MWI extension.
What they lose is the 'shared line' features; they can no longer see if someone else is on the line and they cannot hold a call from one phone and pick it up on another.  But it still rings on all phones, can be answered on all phones, and only the one(s) you want get the envelop.

  • Early GR for schedule lines

    Hi,
Is there any setting in SAP at plant level or at user profile/parameter level where we can decide if a user can receive in schedule lines/purchase orders due for the future or not?
For eg, a PO is due not until 12/31/2009 but I want to receive it in today. Can that receipt be prevented via some system setting ?
    Thanks

  • Hard Drive upgrade for secondary external drive

    Hi experts,
    I have the 300Gb internal drive (#1).
I also have a 650Gb external drive (#2) I use for Time Machine as well as storing other files (overflow).
I'm looking to get a network attached drive (#3) so I can
    - access it through my home network
    - expand my storage
    - use it to backup my internal drive, and my extra file contents in my external drive #2.
Can TM backup my internal drive and external drive(s) (or can I only pick ONE)?
Will I be better buying two MORE external drives? I'm really confused with backing up external drives, and I don't really think I need a RAID solution, just HD crash recovery.
    Ideas?

What I really want to do is have a NAS to share stuff so that my TV has access to it, have a bit more space and have backup protection on all my data. This means I would need to reconfigure as such:
existing internal drive (1) essential os, applications (A)
existing external drive (2) work, tv shows, movies (B) (remove TM backups to free space)
new external drive (3) Time Machine backup (to backup A + B)
NAS drive (4) to store tv shows, movies copied manually
I guess the limiting issues is that it doesn't seem like NAS data can get backed up with Time machine so it can only be used as a target. What I mean is I can't use a NAS drive directly because where would ITS backup be?
I thought maybe I could solve my problems with one huge NAS, but that only frees up some space on my existing drive and only gives me a larger backup repository.

  • Am I eligible for an early upgrade?

I bought a Droid Eris some time last year.  It was right before the Droid X came out.  I have 9 months left until I can upgrade, so I am wondering if I can upgrade early.  Ever since the 2.1 Android OS update, my Eris has been messing up horribly.  It freezes up randomly, my alarms go off for no reason at all.  When I do want the alarm to ring, sometimes it doesn't.  It's getting really frustrating to use, and I'd hate to have to wait 9 more months to get a new one.  So, am I eligible for an early upgrade? I know there was an offer for an Early upgrade for a Droid X.

Does one of these apply to you? 1) Primary line on a Family Share plan? 2) On an Individual plan with a calling plan (the Talk or Talk & Text portion of your bill, no features/add-ons included) valued at $49.99 or higher?  If so, you are eligible for an Annual Upgrade at exactly 12 months into your contract.  You will have to use this upgrade directly with Verizon Wireless, either on this site or over the phone, and you will not be able to use your New Every 2 credit.  You may have to pay a $20 processing fee, and you will sign a new 2-year contract.
If you are a secondary line, or on an Individual calling plan valued at less than $49.99, you won't be eligible for an upgrade until month 20 of your 2-year contract.  If you are on a Family Plan, and another line is eligible for an upgrade, you can use their upgrade as long as they agree to having their contract extended for 2 years.

  • Primary/Secondary Early Upgrade Help

I'm the secondary line in my account, but the account manager.  The primary line DOES NOT have a data plan, and does not want one.
I was wondering, if I extend the contract another year, could I simply buy the Droid X for the primary line even though it doesn't have a data plan, and simply activate it on the my line (with a data plan). Would Verizon fine or charge me for doing that since the phone (and data plan) aren't being used on the intended line?  Would the primary line have to start paying for a data plan even if the phone is never activated on that line?
I simply want to get the phone for the secondary line since Verizon only lets you get an early upgrade for the primary line.
    Thanks!

    anaconda50 wrote:
Thanks for the reply! 2 years is a long time to wait for the next upgrade.  There's no way that I could possibly get the phone upgraded for the non-data plan line (the primary line), and simply activate the phone using  MY line, without the risk of Verizon getting mad and charging me for data usage for both lines?  Yes, I already said you can use the upgrade for the primary line (if it is eligible), and just activate the phone on your line instead.  The data plan will be added for the line the Droid is activated on (your secondary, in this case).
I'd ideally like to get just a 1 year extension and pay $279 for the DX, so I would get an upgrade earlier than 7/12.  Would that be true? If you pay the 1 yr price, it will extend the contract on the primary line one year, so it will be eligible in July 2011.  But save yourself some $$, and get the 2-yr pricing, since the primary line is eligible to upgrade every 12 months anyway.  Of course, all this assumes that the primary line is eligible to upgrade today.  If neither of the two lines on the account is eligible, then this whole discussion is moot.

  • Early upgrade (one month) for wacky problematic phone, DENIED

    Hello,
I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for SEVENTEEN years.
I purchased the Droid under a different line last February (2010)
around October the on/off button  stopped working...
I was keeping it charged for weeks...and sliding it over for it to go on...
but it finally died and there was no way to turn it back on...
Verizon Wireless was nice enough to send me a REfurbished Droid.
This is a DUMB smartphone....if I get a text during a call, it disconnects the call.
A simple phone can handle this, mine can NOT.
I called Verizon in April and they said they'd early upgrade me,
but at that time I didn't know what phone I wanted, whether it be a smartphone or simple, maybe less problematic phone.
Well after dealing with my dumb phone and resisiting from throwing it into a wall from frustration (it has other problems too)
I called Verizon Wireless again .
They went through a 30 minute "typed script and troubleshooting"
then I was told the phone is problematic.  well duh...I've been way patient while paying over $200 a month for this fantastic service for WAY too many years!
I was then given an order number, but told it needed to be approved by a manager.
48 hours later I was DENIED.
I feel like an a$$ being a loyal customer.
I was upping my contract 2 years, etc.
and they told me no......   denied. order cancelled.
I am feeling like being loyal is unappreciated.
I didn't think 30 days really mattered for an early upgrade.
I have no luck with Verizon phones either.
last phone I really liked that had no problems was a great light blue and grey  phone, no flip,
that I had to give up when they went digital.
Had to be over a decade ago.
Man I miss that WORKING phone...only phone that EVER worked reliably.
    thanks for the vent
    shopping other networks,
feel like loyal customers do not matter to this company.

Man that would **bleep** me off too... I worked @ Verizon Wireless in their call center for about 3 years & that is not an uncommon issue.
I wish I could give you a solid answer instead of suggestions, but here's how I've seen people get their "early upgrade" approved...
First of all, you've been w/VZW for 17 years?!? With the same account?! I have NEVER seen a supervisor deny a month early upgrade for someone who's had service for 17 years.
    -  Call back & ask for a supervisor immediatly. Tell the supervisor what's going on & If you are still not happy with the results, escalate it to the supervisors manager.
    - If you still have no luck, tell them you want to disconnect. They will actually say "okay let me get you over to a rep. that can close the account" & that person has special deals they can offer you & if it is really only a month or 2 early, they will totally push it though for you.
    Good luck!

  • How to get my early upgrade?

I currently own a samsung intensity that i HATE. I am 13 months into my 2 year contract and I am the second line on a 3 line account. I am looking to buy a Droid X and add on a data plan but I have no idea how to get the early upgrade. I have heard about it but I am not sure how to sue it. when I check online it doesn't give me the option to upgrade. Would I have to become the primary line? If so what would this require (as in any fees)? If not could they just let me use their early upgrade (how would that be arranged)? And finally, can this onl be done online or can I do it in stores? Sorry for having so amny questions.

The standard annual upgrade is only available on phone lines that have a price plan cost of $49.99 or higher, and this is only for the next 10 days or so... seeing as you have to have been on that plan for 3 months (and be one year into your contract) I'm not sure if you would be able to get it if you changed over now (and by that I mean I don't know if you would be able to use it 3 months from now), or if they would just say that since you havn't been on it for 3 months at this point that you don't get it. Long story short... the only chance you have of using a standard policy early upgrade on your line would be to get the primary line status changed over to your line, but I really can't promise that would work. If you want an upgrade without doing that you will need to ask for a supervisor approval upgrade.

  • New every 2 and early upgrade confusion on my part..

My answer may be in some of the previous posts but if so I have not been able to understand it, so here is my question.  I have always purchased 1 year phone contracts with my cell phones.  However, last August when I upgraded my phone the salesman suggested that since I was the primary line (because I have a blackberry and am able to get a discount through work on the blackberry fee) I should purchase the phone with a 2 year agreement in order to get the phone cheaper and would still be able to upgrade to a new phone a year later.  My question now is: Am I still going to be able to upgrade my phone in August or has this new deal screwed me and is going to make me pay my local verizon store a visit and make a HUGE complaint and see what they can do for me since my past is clearly shown 1 year contracts?!?!  Thanks for your help!

Customers can upgrade their device and receive promotional device pricing when they meet their device upgrade eligibility dates. Early upgrades for the primary line time frame is 13-20 months from the last upgrade date with being on a calling plan of $49.99 or higher.
