Early upgrade from Accolade to I Phone

I have been a Verizon wirless customer for at least 10 years. I have had 4 lines on my plan for approx 5 of those years. I  have three I Phones on the plan. My personal phone is a 2 year old LG Accolade flip phone that has one hinge broken. I  would like to upgrade to an I Phone and add my line to the data plan, but am being told the only way is for me to spend $300 on a used phone you have. Either that or wait until Jan 2014 to use my wifes upgrade. I spend nearly 3K per year on wireless and alos have Verizon for home phone, internet and cable.. I have NEVER been late paying in all my years of being a customer. At this point I gladly show friends my broken phone and explain that I cant get an early upgarde to which they are amazed Verizon wont allow me to eraly upgrade to an I Phone 4. I dont think it wise to allow a good customer to have to buy a cheap month to month phone whil I waut until January for an upgarde.
Anyway at all someone at Verizon can greenlight me an upgrade now so I can move into the 21st century?
I really have no option with the early terminations fees and such , so whining to all my friends and customers is my only outlet as I sit and wait.
Thank you,
Ron

If the Accolade is 2 years old, then that line (or at least one of the other lines) on the account should be eligible for an upgrade.  If one of the other lines used your upgrade to get their iPhone, you can do the same and use one of their upgrades and put the iPhone on your line....
The other way your line may not be eligible is if the Accolade was replaced under warranty or insurance - that may have extended the upgrade date.

  • Upgrade from basic to smart phone before contract finishes.  What are my options?

    Hi everyone,
I'm working on upgrading from a basic phone to a smartphone.  My current phone is one line in a shared plan (1 iphone and 3 basic phones).
My current contract isn't up until September 2014, but it's become necessary that I get a smartphone this winter.  Obviously, that's not going to happen without some fees, but I'm trying to figure out what my options are.  This is what I think I have, but are there ones I'm not considering?
    1. Buy a phone through verizon without the subsidy.  I assume this resets my 2 year contract.  But there's no early termination fee, right?
    2. Buy a verizon-ready used phone from a friend and apply it to my account.  I believe that this doesn't incur an ETF either, right?
    3. Add a new line with a smartphone (with subsidy).  Transfer my number to that phone, and then pay to terminate the basic phone line (which would be $175-5/month, so $105, right?).
    4. Pay to terminate this line ($105), and move to another carrier, but my number wouldn't transfer.
Any recommendations within these options, or things I haven't mentioned?
    Thanks!

    1. If you buy a phone without subsidy, there is no contract. And no ETF -- you'd simply put the new phone on the line and the contract end date is the same.
    2. Correct. You can activate a phone you bought elsewhere anytime. It won't change your contract. You will simply have to add the data plan.
    3. The contract is tied to the phone number. So if you add a line for a smartphone, that number/line would incur the $350 smartphone ETF. But you can transfer the new smartphone to your current line, then put your basic phone on that line -- it will either cost you $10/month if you're on a Nationwide plan or $30/month if on Share Everything.
    4. You can port your number to the new carrier and pay the ETF, which seems it'll be about $105. Every carrier has to allow porting nowadays. Just know if you're not happy with the new carrier and want to switch back to Verizon within the first few months (either 60 or 90 days, I can't recall), you'll be put right back on the contract you were on.
I can't think of any other options. When I feel like switching and I'm under contract, I typically choose No. 2 in your above scenario.

  • Early upgrade from iPhone 4s to Galaxy Note II.

Last year I switched from At&t to Verizon so this month is the first year of my two year contract with Verizon. Now after all these years of using iphone 3, 3Gs, 4 and 4s I would like to change my phone for something different. I was wondering if I could get Note II for $199 or even $299, because I don't think I can wait another year.

You can upgrade when you become eligible - 20 or 24 months into your contract.  Your My Verizon account will tell you when you are eligible to upgrade.  Then you can get a discounted phone.
Another option is to buy from a private party on eBay or craigslist or swappa - maybe a friend has one they'd like to sell you  for that price?

  • Can I Upgrade From Regular Cell Phone to Smartphone Several Months Early?

I have a Samsung Sway that I upgraded to last spring - in March. It's been a great phone, but I now have a full-time job where I need e-mail access and would like to upgrade to a Droid smartphone. Beyond that, my Sway has serious screen issues now where it frequently becomes a patchwork of lines and squiggles that I can't see anything through. I have a feeling it's dying.
I'm on a Family Plan and have been for years - my mom started the contracts 7 or 8 years ago - and I'm wondering, could I get an early upgrade to a Droid? It would require me getting a different plan for the phone since it would need data etc. versus my current 1500 minutes, unlimited texts, no data plan. Would it be possible for me to upgrade for free or for a small fee?
How do I go about upgrading even though I'm still about five or six months away from my Every Two Years upgrade? Is this even possible?

Generally, Verizon will not change your upgrade date, even if you change your plan or add high-value features like data.  Verizon allows you to reverse these changes at any time, so they are not an effective bargaining chip.
You should start by calling CS and asking if you are eligible for any early upgrade promotions.  These vary by region, so you may be lucky.
If there are no promotions, you could do an alternate upgrade using the eligibility from one of the other lines on your family plan.  Basically, they upgrade and give the phone to you, then in March, you can upgrade and get them the phone they want.
Otherwise, you will have to purchase the phone at full-price or from a non-Verizon source.
    Good luck!

    Please can you help....
I ordered an iPhone 5s in early September from the orange shop in Chamonix Mont-Blanc France.
I needed a new phone as i dropped my iPhone and broke it so it thought i would upgrade.
I was asked in the shop if I wanted a black or white one, I asked for a Black one, as all my iPhones have all been Black as I DON'T LIKE White ones. (sorry)
I was told my phone would arrive in a week so I waited with broken phone for new one. The following week I was told it would be the following week, the following week i was told the same but the assistant in the shop told me they would ring me when it arrived. Three days later i recieved a text from the shop to say the phone would be in tomorrow, when I went in they said it had not arrived and they would call me when it was in the shop.
They called me on Thursday the 17th of October to say the phone was in the shop.
I arrived at the shop at 6:00pm after my work, the shop closes at 7:00pm. I recieved the phone, signed for it and extra unwanted insurance with I was told I could only canceled in a month. I was then told they didn't have any sim cards in the shop, i said no problem the Phone i assume will need charging so i will take it home and charge it and return for the sim tomorrow.
    So the Phone remained boxed.
When I returned home and opened the box I realised it was a white one, I replaced the lid put it back in the bag, and returned it to the shop first thing Friday 18th October, to point out the error, only to be told "to bad" ?? I was told I could have changed it the night before but not this morning? They said I had ordered a Black one but as I had signed for a White one nothing can be done. I was angry and left the shop. I returned later the same day with a French friend to try and resolve this problem, as I wasn't sure if something was being lost in translation. I didn't think I was being unreasonable, it is a very expensive piece of equipment and this wasn't what i wanted. They told my friend that the phone was not available in Black, that was the 5, and that the 5s was only available in silver and gold, and that mine was a silver one.
I then thought it was my mistake as it was a new phone. She put a sim in the phone put it in the box and I left for a business meeting only to arrive and see a Black iPhone 5s sitting on the table??
So I then returned back to the shop with the Black one and mine still all boxed and untouched to prove they had blatantly lied to me an hour ago, only to be told that there was nothing they were prepared to do.
Is this fair practice ? I am at a loss with this and am looking for help ?

A minor point, but it may avoid a little confusion if, instead of saying "black" in reference to the iPhone 5s, say "space gray":

  • Why won't Apple allow Verizon to let me upgrade from an Android phone to an iPhone 5 early at the reduced price?

Why won't Apple allow Verizon to let me upgrade from an Android phone to an iPhone 5 early at the reduced price?

Here's one of my responses from Verizon:
    Dear Kevin,
Good Afternoon; I know how frustrating it is to want a new phone, and be told that you are not eligible to upgrade early. My name is Shane, and I will be assisting you today regarding your most recent email.
I am sorry to say that it is not possible for us to do the upgrade. We most certainly don’t want to lose a valued customer, but we can’t break our contract with Apple. If we did this for you, we would have to do it for everyone. If we did this for everyone we would risk losing our contract with Apple, and not be able to sell iPhones at all. I understand it is a savings to cancel your contract with us, and move to another provider we certainly don’t want you to do that, but that is an option for you.
Kevin, I am sorry that we were not able to give you the resolution you were wanting. I do appreciate you being a valued Verizon Wireless customer, and I hope you have a good day!
    Sincerely,
    Shane

  • Phone Issue/Early Upgrade

I just want to say that I am a Very Upset customer!  I have spent 1.5 hrs in a Verizon Store with no resolve, and 5 hours on the phone with customer care and still no resolve.  I contacted customer care to be told that I would receive a call back that never came (3) times and these were supervisors.  My wife and I have 5 phones with Verizon and this treatment is unacceptable.  Here is my issue if someone wishes to resolve it....  My wife's phone has been turned in for replacement 4 times and mine 2 times (same phone the Fascinate) which I might add, mine needs to be sent back again.  Due to not receiving calls, text messages, emails, turns off, freezes up so you have to pull the battery out 5 times a day, so on and so on.  About 3 weeks ago my wife's phone stopped working again so Verizon sent us ANOTHER phone, and it has failed again.  Now I do want to add that we have 3 kids that we cant seem to ever get phone calls from when needing something because our phones don't seem to ever work (the kids are 9, 11, and 13) so missing calls from them is unacceptable.  This time my wife's replacement phone has heated up so bad that it destroyed the memory card which had photos, messages, downloads that cant be replaced now.  I also want to say that every time these phones need to be replaced, it takes 3 to 5 business days for us to receive a new/old phone in the mail, and I have never called Verizon to reimburse me any money for the time I couldn't use my service that I pay for.  After fighting with the Verizon store manager (which is useless) he said he couldn't help me more than just getting us another piece of junk replacement, that I would have to contact Verizon customer care for anything else I wanted to pursue.  So I did.  Now both our upgrades are available in Dec. of this year (so a month and a half away).  I contacted customer care and was granted the early upgrade which was great.  Here is where I have a BIG problem.  I was granted the upgrades for both phones but could not order the phones I wanted.  That's right, they want me to pay for the phones, change my data package, renew my contracts for another 2 yrs and not allow me to upgrade to any phone I wanted because it was an early upgrade.  ARE you SERIOUS!!!!  Why would I do that?  You act like your doing me a favor by giving me the early upgrade.  How about satisfying your customer.  I'm not asking for money off my bill or reimbursing me for time I couldn't use my service because the piece of junk phones you gave us don't work, and every time you give us a remanufactured one to replace it doesn't work either.  I am simply asking for an upgrade which I will gladly pay for to the phone I choose.  Whether its a Galaxy S III or IPHONE 5.  Now I can understand if I was asking Verison to GIVE me free IPHONE 5s for my troubles.  So here it is, after all these calls and no return calls and my time spent while still paying and living up to my end of our contract.  I asked for: upgrade my contracts for another 2yrs, update my data packages to the new packages, grant me early upgrade to 2 IPHONE 5s which I will pay for but waive the $30 upgrade fees for all my headaches and troubles.  NO NO NO they wont do it.  So they would rather loose me as a customer then to let me pay.  As a business man, this makes no sense to me.  I don't think I am asking to much.  It seems to me the one that has lost out is me.  Phones not working for more than 5 weeks and still paid my bill, not receiving emergency calls from my kids and wife because phone wouldn't work, Emails coming to me 2 to 3 days later, and also important text messages.  This is not the way to treat loyal customers.  I hope that someone reads this in the Corporate office and says WTH and does something to assist me.  But the track record so far is, Verizon doesn't care about its customers.....  EVEN THE ONES WHO WANT TO PAY AND DO PAY!!!  The nice thing is, the Attorney Generals office is right down the hall from me, and if I don't receive a phone call soon I will be going to make my complaint and also contact the BBB.

    Bowtaz wrote:
Yes I did sign the contract, and again not trying to get anything for free.  Not looking to just spend $200 on another phone either that may or may not work.  But if you are willing to give me the early upgrade because of the issues, why wouldn't you give the option for purchase on ALL phones.  Because Apple will not allow them. If you are so sure it is Verizon, try at an Apple store. THEY are the manufacturer and can sell THEIR products for whatever price THEY choose. See if THEY will allow you to get one at the subsidized price.
I can get the IPHONE 4S but not the 5.... WHY?  Because the 5 is new.  Not a good answer.  I'm not calling Verizon up and saying, hey I don't like my phone please let me out of my contract so I can get a different phone.  NO... I have a issue with the phones not working.  A history that started within the first 3 months of having the phones.  Again, that is Apple, not Verizon.
I am willing to pay for the phones and I'm sorry but to me a phone is not worth $600-$700 so I would never buy the phone at that price.  Well, then you will have to wait if you will settle for nothing less than an iPhone 5.
See you seem to be missing the point here, Verizon is AUTHERIZING the early upgrade because of a repeated issue.  But in order for me to get it I need to sign another contract, update my data, pay a upgrade fee....  See the pattern.... ME ME ME....  There not letting me out of a contract, they are getting me to sign another for 2 more years plus the other 4 phones I have with them.  All I want is to be able to purchase the upgrade phone that I choose.  In December I would be able to buy the IPHONE 5 without question....  7 weeks from now.... Thats it... Not 15 months or 12 months or even 6 months.... 1 month.  They ARE letting you out of a contract. The fact you are signing ANOTHER contract does not negate this fact. Actually, that is closer to 2 months than 1 month, and if you will settle for nothing less than an iPhone 5, that is how long you will be waiting.
Again not looking for free just whats right....  If your willing to help a customer, dont put stipulations on it.  Specialy when they are willing to pay.

  • I took advantage of the early upgrade to the 5c on 8/18 I believe over the phone. Not sure what I did Right but dont have issues.... Why?

I have been reading many FAQS recent ly about this same promotion regarding the upgrade to the iphone 5c 32g and it appears so many of you have been having countless issues with it.... I feel horrible for everyone who has been dealing with this headache. Makes me wonder what i did right because i have had no problems at all, Simply called Verizon over the phone and the rep was super nice and patience and very helpful. All i had to do was call in the next day in the very early AM so they could stop the wrong phone i origanlly ordered before it wasshipped( which was thru The Edge Program) and they stopped it in time luckily before it was shipped and than the same rep canceled out the Edge option and redid everything under the new early upgrade option instead for the 5c 32 gig blue and i got it two days later with no cost whatsoever other than activation fee of 30 bucks billed to next billing cycle. Got phone and all is good from the looks. Honestly no idea what i did that worked for me but it worked. Maybe i just caught the promotion before it was immeaditatly taken off website.

    Hi there,
I've just joined google for my email and like you wanted to sync my contacts and calendar.
I had a couple of problems but have ironed them out below.
First....Google have a 'google sync' program that is advertised as syncing both your contacts and calendar. This has not worked for me. I can sync my calendar no problem at all, but it hasn't worked for my contacts. On looking across the google firums I am by no means alone and indeed google employees who post there have acknowledged the problem too,
So how to get round it and sync your calendar and contacts?
For calendar go to this link
    http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=nokia_smart
Follow the instructions and tell the Mail for Exchange program NOT to sync your contacts.  Like I said, although it's supposed to I couldn't get it to work despite a reformat of the device twice! A google employee on the forums even went out and bought the 5800 and tried to get it to work as he has noted that people are having problems. Hopefully it'll be addressed in the future.
For syncing your contacts, go to this page
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=98230&topic=15015
All the details for contacts sync are laid out for the pages of setup you have for a S60 3rd edition device. If, like me you have a S60 5th edition device, the details are all there but are requested in a different order. Have a good scan of the pages and you WILL find all the info you need.
Both methods work great for me and I'm delighted.
    Hope this maybe helps
If my post has helped you in anyway, please press the 'kudos' button.

  • Early upgrade (one month) for wacky problematic phone, DENIED

    Hello,
I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for SEVENTEEN years.
I purchased the Droid under a different line last February (2010)
around October the on/off button  stopped working...
I was keeping it charged for weeks...and sliding it over for it to go on...
but it finally died and there was no way to turn it back on...
Verizon Wireless was nice enough to send me a REfurbished Droid.
This is a DUMB smartphone....if I get a text during a call, it disconnects the call.
A simple phone can handle this, mine can NOT.
I called Verizon in April and they said they'd early upgrade me,
but at that time I didn't know what phone I wanted, whether it be a smartphone or simple, maybe less problematic phone.
Well after dealing with my dumb phone and resisiting from throwing it into a wall from frustration (it has other problems too)
I called Verizon Wireless again .
They went through a 30 minute "typed script and troubleshooting"
then I was told the phone is problematic.  well duh...I've been way patient while paying over $200 a month for this fantastic service for WAY too many years!
I was then given an order number, but told it needed to be approved by a manager.
48 hours later I was DENIED.
I feel like an a$$ being a loyal customer.
I was upping my contract 2 years, etc.
and they told me no......   denied. order cancelled.
I am feeling like being loyal is unappreciated.
I didn't think 30 days really mattered for an early upgrade.
I have no luck with Verizon phones either.
last phone I really liked that had no problems was a great light blue and grey  phone, no flip,
that I had to give up when they went digital.
Had to be over a decade ago.
Man I miss that WORKING phone...only phone that EVER worked reliably.
    thanks for the vent
    shopping other networks,
feel like loyal customers do not matter to this company.

Man that would **bleep** me off too... I worked @ Verizon Wireless in their call center for about 3 years & that is not an uncommon issue.
I wish I could give you a solid answer instead of suggestions, but here's how I've seen people get their "early upgrade" approved...
First of all, you've been w/VZW for 17 years?!? With the same account?! I have NEVER seen a supervisor deny a month early upgrade for someone who's had service for 17 years.
    -  Call back & ask for a supervisor immediatly. Tell the supervisor what's going on & If you are still not happy with the results, escalate it to the supervisors manager.
    - If you still have no luck, tell them you want to disconnect. They will actually say "okay let me get you over to a rep. that can close the account" & that person has special deals they can offer you & if it is really only a month or 2 early, they will totally push it though for you.
    Good luck!

  • Early upgrade for broken phone?

Hello--I have an iPhone 5 that is due for an upgrade on 12/13. Neither of the exterior buttons (the top power button and the home button) work anymore, and therefore I cannot turn on/light up my phone without plugging it in to a charger, and I can never turn it off. Recently, I started getting frequent messages about an "Invalid SIM," where I can't make any calls, send texts, use internet, etc. without turning it off and restarting it. The problem is, I can't turn my phone off, so I just have to wait for the power to run out. I am a graduate student living on my own far away from family, and I don't have a land line, so my phone is my only source of communication, so it really worries me that I often can't use it. Will Verizon ever allow an early upgrade (1.5 months) for a phone that truly just doesn't work any more? If so, how do I go about this? Thank you so much for your help!

Unless they start a new promo the answer is no. If you're having SIM issues get a new one.

  • Support gave me an early upgrade and ordered phone for me. Card was not charged, no conformation e-mail...Nothing?

My Samsung Galaxy S3 has been broken for about two months now. The lock button is broken so my phone shuts off and won't turn on for hours, it just vibrates. My phone sometimes has absolute zero service, while my boyfriend had full bars. So, I called support and they gave me an early upgrade, I told them I wanted to get the HTC One M8 and in what color, they told me how much it would be and said it would be confirmed Sunday and would be shipped Monday. Well, it is now Monday night and my card has not been charged, I have no e-mail from them, and online it says I have ordered a new device for my current phone so I don't have an upgrade, but I go to my receipts or documents and there is nothing?
I need my phone and I've tried calling support, but my phone is broken....

        Hi Adrela!
I'm sorry to learn about your device! I'm glad you are getting a new device so you can enjoy our service again! Were you given an order number? You can check http://vz.to/1ppeDLI to check the progress of the order?

  • I recently upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, but now all songs purchased from iTunes will not play via my phone. Any idea how to fix this problem?

I upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, after a few initial problems and two restores, everythings seemed to be working...until I went to play some music, all music loaded to itunes via CD's played, but ALL purchased music from itunes does not play...i click on the song and the screen flashes to the image then goes back to the list of songs, so the purchased music shows up...just does not play.  Can anyone help resolve this problem? Thanks!

here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock.
